The space is nice and is worth a visit with indoor and outdoor space. It is not better than any other DC rooftop. The wait staff were very courteous and professional. The food, burgers, chicken sandwiches, tater tots were delicious. While servers were nice, the service was terrible. It took 20 minutes for a server to come over and another 20 for drinks. The staff sat us at two sofas, and we while we were all chatting, they slid in 2 couples onto the sofa the server had already earmarked for us and basically said, we can make money off these waitlist people so we will seat them in all spaces where your group is not currently sitting. Albeit I had 5 people standing adjacent to that sofa. In addition, the drinks were terrible. I'm usually good, like goood after 2 drinks. I had 6 and felt nothing. Our entire group was getting underserved in each cocktail. This is actually thievery. This is the reason why I highly recommend not coming here. This was true across the entire group. The only thing that was appropriate was the beer poured out of the bottle in front of you. The food was good. Prices were normal expensive DC prices. The service was below tier and the drinks were proably 75% watered down with barely any alcohol. If looking for a rooftop I would go somewhere where they don't rip you off. read more

This rooftop bar has changed from the last time I visited in years past. I'm not sure if it's just a new name or new management. But the views of DC are nice and the the drinks and food are good. They have decent happy hour special prices too. I LOVED my impossible burger and will be returning to order the truffle tots. I wonder if they'll bring the live music back like they've done in the past. Was shocking to see Jell-O shots as an option, but I wasn't brave enough to order. Apparently I should have known about this place because it's "bougie" (that's what he said). This place reminds me of Hip Hop Flask in Bethesda. Cute rooftop with great finger foods! We had planned to just grab drinks but while the menu was limited, it was intriguing so why not taste test while there! Glad my friend insisted! Yummers! Apparently they do sushi but that night they didn't have any, bummer! We got a table to people watch, DJ was playing a great variety of music, and service was stellar! Let's get into it! Chicken Bao Buns - Delicious! I could come and have these for a light dinner! Sooooo good! Crab Cannoli - A MUST try! The vibes here are immaculate! Not only do they have a rooftop bar, but they have a rooftop pool! All with a direct view of our beautiful Capitol building. Come at sunset/golden hour and thank me later. The tater tots were so crispy, but the star of the show was the truffle pizza I got. YUM! Drinks were good too. Pretty alright views, terrible service, whatever bar fare. Never tried the food. You will literally either be ignored, or told to hold, when trying to order or shore up - often while they are just hitting on or starting up conversations with other guests. Most of the bartenders I encountered didn't seem to know anything about bartending, basically with one notable exception. The rest of the staff are either equally clueless/negligent, or weird sticklers about random stuff. Either way, this is the sort of place that maybe once had an identity besides "rooftop bar" but has since lost it. No pride, and little fanfare. read more

What an absolutely stunning rooftop bar and restaurant - where the views, vibes, service and menu selections are ALL outstanding! I took the opportunity to visit during Restaurant Week, and Chef Adrian truly created a masterpiece of a tasting menu! The Wagyu forward menu was 5 courses of gastronomic masterpieces... Which ranged from Wagyu Tartare, to Oysters with wagyu wasabi oil and Wagyu ponzu jelly - and what really blew me away was the creatively with the dessert... Wagyu ice cream with Wagyu fat cookie! You have literally (very likely) never had a menu as uniquely crafted as this. I went with the Resturant Week Sake Pairing, which I felt REALLY elevated the entire experience. The service was amazing - as each course was brought out, a detailed explanation of everything for each course was provided. Which definitely helped to add the Japanese Gokan style of eating, where all of the five senses are considered while eating. I would definitely recommend visiting this beautiful rooftop bar and restaurant. I prefer rooftops over clubs so when Art DC opened, I was super excited to visit. My first time visiting was Valentine's Day weekend and it was a really nice vibe. We sat at the bar and got their version of an espresso martini and an old fashioned. Art DC probably has one of the best espresso martinis in DC. The ingredients seem pretty unique to them...definitely a must try. The second time I went, there was a private party going on, but they still let guests hang out on one side of the rooftop. The vibe was just as good...a little different since they had a DJ...but still good, drinks were great, and this time we decided to try the food. My friend went for the tuna rice bowl, and I got the miso salmon hand roll with a yakitori chicken skewer. They were amazinggg! The prices are pretty reasonable too in my opinion. Lastly, the service is top tier...everyone here has been very helpful during both visits. I'll definitely be back. I know this rooftop is gonna be even more amazing when the weather warms up read more

I went last Sunday for Cinco de Mayo. It was pretty slow, and the music wasn't very lively. There were a bunch of staff present on the floor, but not much activity. We did have a free drink ticket which was cool, and their drink prices were pretty standard for DC. Their food menu is very limited, and more so apps. My friend and I I stayed for a little over an hour before we decided to leave and go elsewhere. It is very artistic inside and spacious. The rooftop views are also great, but not what I expected based on the hype I had heard about it. read more

I have had the opportunity to visit Art DC during the art installation changes and always like the energy and atmosphere. I never have a problem getting to the bar area or being served by the staff (or being able to get a seat at the bar or other areas). The rooftop is stunning and expansive with plenty of seating. During events the acoustics aren't the best when someone is speaking on the microphone or presenting. I truly enjoy the space and rooftop views. The bar menu has small bites and there is a full restaurant on the lobby level of the hotel which is great (see my Yelp review about Arrels). Definitely a great spot for drinks and enjoying a beautiful DC view (and beautiful art from local artists). Paid street parking (I'm unsure if they have valet) $$ read more

Visited for restaurant week and it was good but could've been better! For a wagyu themed menu it somehow got redundant, so we got a little bored of the menu by the end. There was no excitement to it because it was wagyu after wagyu. It was pre-made so there wasn't much flexibility to it but they did manage to accommodate my friends dietary restrictions so that was really great. My favourite was probably the miso salmon and Wagyu somen and the worst was the ' Wagyu ice cream'. The texture was really off putting, icy and tasted like - Wagyu. I also didn't like the oyster there was no brine in mine so it was just the meat and toppings in the shell. Would love to return to the rooftop though, it was dim lit and beautifully decorated. Arlo Rooftop is a stunning venue is downtown DC. I came for a 30 and up function and was amazed at how large the space is. The bar it encompassed a large portion of the space. The views on the balcony were stunning, especially at night. I had an Old Fashioned and it was very well made. I came here on a quiet Monday night when it was 50 degrees in the winter. The restaurant was empty, I was greeted immediately, and escorted to my table. It was quiet and the waitress was very attentive. (I believe the name was Toya). They made me a mocktail and I had the seared salmon onigiri. I ended my night outside on the roof overlooking the quiet city and it was so peaceful. Overall, I love the location and the vibes. Parking was no problem. I was able to secure metered parking right in front of the hotel with no concerns about break ins (but that's probably because it's located near the FBI building). I've stayed at the Arlo hotel in Miami and now had a chance to preview this one and I would totally recommend guests to stay here. They also have (an extremely tiny) pool on the roof as well. Not too sure how that flow will work with restaurant attendees in the summer but I will totally come back here soon for a nice catch up. read more

My boyfriend and I visited Art DC for a Saturday date night. The ambiance and drinks were great. The food was overly priced and mediocre. We ordered the espresso martini, old fashioned, hand rolls ($14 for four pieces), dumplings and the wagyu rice bowl. The miso salmon hand roll was good. We asked for soy sauce and wasabi (since it was a Japanese-inspired bar) and the bar tender served us soy sauce in a lowball glass (we thought it was a drink when he brought it to our table). The chicken and shrimp dumplings were okay. The wagyu rice bowl had one thinly shaved slice of wagyu on top of a bowl of rice, definitely not worth $30. Our waiter was nice and provided good service. If you just want drinks, Art DC is a good choice. If you want good food, I'd suggest you go elsewhere. read more

Ugh oh boy this place is disappointing. -$20 cocktails served in PLASTICWARE. Never been to any bar (even outdoor / rooftop bar) that is serving in plastic besides maybe rail drinks or something -Weird weird location. In the middle of government buildings with nothing else around besides more government buildings. Sketchy walk from the metro since no one else is walking around near the hotel. -Food is WAY overpriced and very mediocre. -Slow service. Really slow. Took a long time for a cocktails, and a whopping one hour to get our bill after requested. Automatic 20% gratuity for bad service. Waiter wouldn't even split the bill until we said you don't have a choice you're splitting the bill (when menu says they will split the bill in 4). -Hightop bar table was wobbling alotttt (surprising because this a new bar) -The place would have been empty if it wasn't for two private events happening at the bar. One of the parties invited us to eat their private food (which was different than the food on the menu). Ugh it was worse than the food on the menu, pretty bad, I had to pick out the good parts of the mini burger and throw out the bread etc. Too bad because this place is cute with nice decor. We made a reservation and got seated promptly. Staff were friendly, but the music was far too loud to have a conversation and the DJ was mediocre at best. We ordered manhattans which were good but not great, but served in flexible plastic glasses - a bit of a surprise for a $20 cocktail. We ordered three rolls of sushi - beware only four pieces per roll. They were out of sushi rice so we had to wait 30 minutes for more rice and when the rolls came out they were sloppy with too much seaweed wrapper, undercooked rice and for the price not worth it.
