This review is about the homme brunch on Saturday may 2 at Shaw's Tavern upstairs. it's really fun, it has a drag show and twinks in speedos serving the drinks. It's all you can eat and drink for $55. We went with a group of 5 and had a blast. All the food was great, the bottomless drinks are the reason why I forgot to take more pictures and the videos I have will be reported to yelp lololol The brunch ended with jello shift of cute guys in speedos their bodies. Very fun well put together event

I was pleasantly surprised by the food here. Although closed inside for a private event when I went, they have a nice patio with lots of space when it's cooler out. Daily happy hour specials makes it a bigger draw. My fried catfish came out crispy, lightly breaded, with an amazing sauce on the size. Vegetables were seasoned! Very impressed. Service was quick and attentive too.

Shaw's Tavern is one of those neighborhood favorites that truly never disappoints. Quick and friendly service; very social with hearty laughter and casual conversations. My partner and I stopped in for a cozy meal (the calm before the storm) and it was exactly what we needed. I went with the Shaw Burger, juicy and perfectly cooked, topped with a plump, juicy tomato, melted cheese, crisp lettuce, red onion, and that signature Shaw's sauce that brings every bite together. My partner kept it classic with French fries, hot, crispy, and the perfect side. And I couldn't resist adding onion rings for myself; golden, crunchy, and absolutely addictive...the kind you keep reaching for long after you swear you're full. Comforting, satisfying, and consistently delicious. Shaw's Tavern remains a neighborhood staple for a reason.

Great food, great service, zero complaints! My first time at Shaw's was great, the food was delicious and service was amazing (thanks Aldo)! I ordered the chicken and waffles with a side of eggs and everything was cooked to perfection, hands down the BEST chicken and waffles I've ever had. I will say that the waffle felt heavier than usual as it's made with cornbread batter I believe, so if you're anything like me you'll barely have room to finish it off. To accompany my meal, I ordered the lemon berry crush (sweet and delicious) and the coquito (definitely in the stronger side) which were both great choices. We were seated in the covered patio-like area which was fine--until they opened the partition and the chilly winds started blowing. This was the biggest con as we were extra cold and the staff were unable to close the door due to some guests being seated outside. So if you do decide to visit, try to snag a seat indoors OR come on a day where it's not chilly. There is also only one bathroom available for all guests, so if you tend to break the seal a lot and aren't too good at holding your bladder indulging in a few of their alcoholic beverages may not be the best choice.

Shaw's Tavern offers American fare. It's casual, and they have nice outdoor seating. The service was pretty prompt even during a busy Sunday brunch. I got the avocado toast with eggs, and it was pretty solid. It was more of a guacamole on the toast. My husband had the chicken sandwich and fries. Everything met our expectations.

Came to Shaw's for brunch based on a friend's recommendation and I must say, it was a good recommendation. Bottomless mimosas for $26. 4 shooters for $20. The food was delicious as well. I had the steak and eggs and I was content. I will say the sauce that comes with the mushrooms could be thicker and more flavorful, but other than that, it was good. My friends tried the Chicken and Waffles, Sausage and Biscuits, and Breakfast Plate and they were all happy. Our server was great too! :) Overall, I'd definitely be back!

The drinks were really good. I also liked the shrimp and grits. The main critique was the corn. As someone who loves southern cuisine, I was not a fan of corn being in shrimp and grits. The okra was also undercooked. Overall the dish was fair. We sat at the bar and the bartender was pleasant and helpful when deciding what dish to choose. The service was good and the food came out quick.

Shaw's Tavern didn't disappoint. Arrived on a Sunday for brunch at 11:30am and I highly recommend it. Parking was super easy to find on 6th street. At 11:30am, the outside was already pretty busy and we were seated on the inside (we had a reservation for 5). The inside is small but quaint. Side note, there are only two bathroom stalls and there always seemed to be a line while we were there. I had a Shaw's Breakfast Platter with pancakes and it was delicious. The music was a good mix that I enjoyed. Huge bonus, you are able to scan the bar code on the table and then split the bill (according to the items you got) and pay without having the waitress to split the check. I wish every restaurant had that option. My meal was so good that it will be my breakfast, lunch and dinner. Until next time!

We had so much fun here as a couple on a Saturday night. We sat at the bar which had plenty of seating and TVs showing the football games. The male bartender was friendly, attentive, and made good STRONG drinks! You could tell the cocktails weren't just a pre-mixed but rather that they made them to order. I tried the blueberry mojito, classic marg and my husband got the manhattan. We loved all 3! Their food was pretty good! I actually enjoyed their pizza quite a lot. It tasted homemade and was a great size for the price. I got the Nashville hot chicken pizza and loved the pickles ontop! A great touch! We also tried the fish and chips and thought they were yummy too! They have a TouchTunes machine so you can connect your music and jam the night away! Overall, super cute place. Plenty of seating. Very cozy, casual vibe!

    Mimosa were a great deal.

Chowder came out pretty much right on top of my salad, but no big deal. Chowder was decent taste, but only found one clam. Ok whatever. Salad came out looking like a side salad on a large plate with five slices of rare, tough steak. It was so rare, that it was extremely hard to cut through, but again, who was I going to talk to about it. No wait staff would even look my way. I couldn't even get a refill on my water and there is no place in the app to order a glass of water...so that's that. Unfortunately it was just an extremely bad experience for $40. I visited as part of the full experience -- dinner downstairs at Birch & Barley, then up to Churchkey for drinks -- and honestly, it's one of the best evenings I've had in DC. Churchkey itself is everything a great bar should be. The beer selection is absolutely unreal -- hundreds of carefully curated labels spanning every style, region, and flavor profile you can imagine. What sets it apart is that the staff actually knows the menu. Our server walked us through a few options based on what we liked and landed us on perfect picks both times. That kind of genuine expertise is rare. The tavern pizzas from the wood-fired oven were a wonderful surprise -- thin, crispy, and the perfect companion to a cold draft. The smash burger also deserves a mention: simple, well-executed, and hits the spot. The vibe is warm and lively without being overwhelming. Great for a date, a group, or even just sitting at the bar solo with a good beer and good conversation with the bartender. And fortunately, I found one that was perfectly right and proper! Before entering, Right and Proper had me won over with their outdoor mural paying homage to Duke Ellington and a who's who of local DC jazz heroes. Upon entering, I was even more blown away by their elaborate and wild indoor murals, especially the dog & cat bathroom art, and the EPIC animal battle centerpiece! Since I came towards the end of their night after the Brewers pizza party at Andy's Pizza, I wasn't particularly hungry. But I did make note of their cheese counter, where you could purchase offerings like Midnight Moon, Willoughby, and Morbier by the plate or to go by the pound. They also had a good selection of handhelds, appetizers, dinner, and brunch offerings. However, the best thing might be that, during the unpredictable government shutdown, they had the option to pay a meal or a beer forward to a neighbor in need. I also managed to enjoy their Brussel sprouts that delivered a pleasant umami bomb with its sweet Thai chili sauce and crushed peanuts. For beers, they had a right and proper mix that went beyond the IPA overload, while also having good ones like their Big Tomorrow west coast IPA. Their flights came at a reasonable price and allowed me to enjoy offerings like their Haxan robust porter, Senate Maerzen Marzen Oktoberfest style ale, and Super Carina Italian Pilsner. Factor in all of the above and a good selection of brewery games and table spaces, and they had everything I look for in a solid brewery!

The staff is consistently friendly and welcoming, which is exactly what you want in a local haunt. You never feel rushed, and the service keeps the good vibes going. While the food was a bit middle-of-the-road for us this time, the excellent service and neighborhood feel make it a place I'll keep coming back to. The music venue is located below the Hamilton, a storied dining experience in the 600 block of 14th Street in D.C. Doors would open at 6:30 p.m. for a performance that would begin, right on time, at 8 p.m. I travel alone, and prefer not to join tables, opting instead to sit where single seats are available. The Hamilton - Live offers both: most of the seating is in groups of 4- or 6-seat benches where groups gather, and there are rows of single seats on a slight rise above the forward seating, offering a great view of the stage and the screens above the stage. I arrived around 7 p.m. Within minutes Marie greeted me with a menu and instructions to post a card on a holder at my place, signaling her to stop by to take my order. The menu was eclectic, with sushi, pizza, tacos, salads, wings, cheeseburger sliders, and nachos. There are robust vegetarian and gluten-free selections, and a fully licensed bar. I placed the card in the holder at my seat and Marie returned to take my order: sushi - shrimp tempura ($14), with a can of Nutrl Pineapple ($8) and a double G&T ($23.18). The crowd was gathering, and the attending wait staff were moving with speed, filling orders. My meal arrived in great shape about 15 minutes after I placed the order. Nicely executed sushi! Sound quality in the venue is great, and the restroom was clean and well lit. And as the catalogues of both the Dead and Steely Dan inspire dancing, the dance floor was filled right from the start. You can definitely taste some Cantonese influences. Corazón: Very unique. The beef heart was grilled very tender, and the spicy and tangy dipping sauce was refreshing. I've also never had such large kernels of sticky corn before. Lomo Saltado: Similar to Cantonese black pepper and beef cubes stir-fry, but noticeably coarser. The meat was a bit tough and dry, the sauce didn't coat it well, and it wasn't very flavorful. Chaufa Mixto: Chaufa = chaofan 炒飯 (fried rice in Chinese) A very straightforward transliteration. Similar to Chinese fried rice, it had plenty of wok hei 鑊氣 (wok aroma), which is rare in the US. The beef and chicken were quite tender; however, the shrimp wasn't fully cooked, and you could clearly taste the raw texture inside. Vegetales Salteados: Seasoned exactly like Lomo Saltados, it's even stranger to use it for stir-frying vegetables... It was entirely for the vegetables' benefit; otherwise, it was completely unnecessary. Suspiro: Dulce de leche custard, meringue, and passion fruit glaze, sprinkled with cinnamon powder--it was far too sweet.
