This review is about the homme brunch on Saturday may 2 at Shaw's Tavern upstairs. it's really fun, it has a drag show and twinks in speedos serving the drinks. It's all you can eat and drink for $55. We went with a group of 5 and had a blast. All the food was great, the bottomless drinks are the reason why I forgot to take more pictures and the videos I have will be reported to yelp lololol The brunch ended with jello shift of cute guys in speedos their bodies. Very fun well put together event

Chicken & Waffles

Great food, great service, zero complaints! My first time at Shaw's was great, the food was delicious and service was amazing (thanks Aldo)! I ordered the chicken and waffles with a side of eggs and everything was cooked to perfection, hands down the BEST chicken and waffles I've ever had. I will say that the waffle felt heavier than usual as it's made with cornbread batter I believe, so if you're anything like me you'll barely have room to finish it off. To accompany my meal, I ordered the lemon berry crush (sweet and delicious) and the coquito (definitely in the stronger side) which were both great choices. We were seated in the covered patio-like area which was fine--until they opened the partition and the chilly winds started blowing. This was the biggest con as we were extra cold and the staff were unable to close the door due to some guests being seated outside. So if you do decide to visit, try to snag a seat indoors OR come on a day where it's not chilly. There is also only one bathroom available for all guests, so if you tend to break the seal a lot and aren't too good at holding your bladder indulging in a few of their alcoholic beverages may not be the best choice.

Best drinks & appetizers. Clean & Bright outside. Dark inside. Friendly staff. Food was hot & fresh. Music is nice. 1st time here. Good experience

Shaw's Tavern offers American fare. It's casual, and they have nice outdoor seating. The service was pretty prompt even during a busy Sunday brunch. I got the avocado toast with eggs, and it was pretty solid. It was more of a guacamole on the toast. My husband had the chicken sandwich and fries. Everything met our expectations.

Came to Shaw's for brunch based on a friend's recommendation and I must say, it was a good recommendation. Bottomless mimosas for $26. 4 shooters for $20. The food was delicious as well. I had the steak and eggs and I was content. I will say the sauce that comes with the mushrooms could be thicker and more flavorful, but other than that, it was good. My friends tried the Chicken and Waffles, Sausage and Biscuits, and Breakfast Plate and they were all happy. Our server was great too! :) Overall, I'd definitely be back!

Aperol Spritz and Manhattan

The drinks were really good. I also liked the shrimp and grits. The main critique was the corn. As someone who loves southern cuisine, I was not a fan of corn being in shrimp and grits. The okra was also undercooked. Overall the dish was fair. We sat at the bar and the bartender was pleasant and helpful when deciding what dish to choose. The service was good and the food came out quick.

Shaw's Breakfast Platter

Shaw's Tavern didn't disappoint. Arrived on a Sunday for brunch at 11:30am and I highly recommend it. Parking was super easy to find on 6th street. At 11:30am, the outside was already pretty busy and we were seated on the inside (we had a reservation for 5). The inside is small but quaint. Side note, there are only two bathroom stalls and there always seemed to be a line while we were there. I had a Shaw's Breakfast Platter with pancakes and it was delicious. The music was a good mix that I enjoyed. Huge bonus, you are able to scan the bar code on the table and then split the bill (according to the items you got) and pay without having the waitress to split the check. I wish every restaurant had that option. My meal was so good that it will be my breakfast, lunch and dinner. Until next time!

We had so much fun here as a couple on a Saturday night. We sat at the bar which had plenty of seating and TVs showing the football games. The male bartender was friendly, attentive, and made good STRONG drinks! You could tell the cocktails weren't just a pre-mixed but rather that they made them to order. I tried the blueberry mojito, classic marg and my husband got the manhattan. We loved all 3! Their food was pretty good! I actually enjoyed their pizza quite a lot. It tasted homemade and was a great size for the price. I got the Nashville hot chicken pizza and loved the pickles ontop! A great touch! We also tried the fish and chips and thought they were yummy too! They have a TouchTunes machine so you can connect your music and jam the night away! Overall, super cute place. Plenty of seating. Very cozy, casual vibe!

I like to be waited on head to toe, but when it comes to mimosas, I want self pour - shaws tavern started and ended my day when they slammed three full bottles of champagne on the table and full bottles just kept coming. I have never had bottomless mimosas this level of bottomless.... - and the food was decent too. sometimes you have to trade that off if you want a good drinking moment. the brunch skillet was large and egg prices haven't spiked here! eggs and potato's were perfectly cooked but the pork sausage was mega bland - I can't say I would come back for the food only, but it also wasn't bad - the pizzas were thin crust, chicken and waffles had huge chunks of chicken, and the truffle fries were actually perfect and came with three sauces. - don't love that the sauces came in throw away containers. did love we got orange and cranberry juice. - the service wasn't very personal, but it was very responsive and we got a good high top table with views of many March-madness games

I visited as part of the full experience -- dinner downstairs at Birch & Barley, then up to Churchkey for drinks -- and honestly, it's one of the best evenings I've had in DC. Churchkey itself is everything a great bar should be. The beer selection is absolutely unreal -- hundreds of carefully curated labels spanning every style, region, and flavor profile you can imagine. What sets it apart is that the staff actually knows the menu. Our server walked us through a few options based on what we liked and landed us on perfect picks both times. That kind of genuine expertise is rare. The tavern pizzas from the wood-fired oven were a wonderful surprise -- thin, crispy, and the perfect companion to a cold draft. The smash burger also deserves a mention: simple, well-executed, and hits the spot. The vibe is warm and lively without being overwhelming. Great for a date, a group, or even just sitting at the bar solo with a good beer and good conversation with the bartender. This place has earned its reputation as one of the best beer bars on the East Coast -- and then some. Highly recommend making a full night of it with both floors. You won't regret it. Before entering, Right and Proper had me won over with their outdoor mural paying homage to Duke Ellington and a who's who of local DC jazz heroes. Upon entering, I was even more blown away by their elaborate and wild indoor murals, especially the dog & cat bathroom art, and the EPIC animal battle centerpiece! Since I came towards the end of their night after the Brewers pizza party at Andy's Pizza, I wasn't particularly hungry. But I did make note of their cheese counter, where you could purchase offerings like Midnight Moon, Willoughby, and Morbier by the plate or to go by the pound. They also had a good selection of handhelds, appetizers, dinner, and brunch offerings. However, the best thing might be that, during the unpredictable government shutdown, they had the option to pay a meal or a beer forward to a neighbor in need. I also managed to enjoy their Brussel sprouts that delivered a pleasant umami bomb with its sweet Thai chili sauce and crushed peanuts. For beers, they had a right and proper mix that went beyond the IPA overload, while also having good ones like their Big Tomorrow west coast IPA. Their flights came at a reasonable price and allowed me to enjoy offerings like their Haxan robust porter, Senate Maerzen Marzen Oktoberfest style ale, and Super Carina Italian Pilsner. Factor in all of the above and a good selection of brewery games and table spaces, and they had everything I look for in a solid brewery!

I went with the Thai Chicken Wings and my friend had the Burger. Both were perfectly fine "pub grub"--solid options if you're hungry while grabbing a drink, even if they didn't necessarily steal the show. They're reliable, standard bites that pair well with their tap list. The Service: This is where Right Proper really shines. The staff is consistently friendly and welcoming, which is exactly what you want in a local haunt. You never feel rushed, and the service keeps the good vibes going. While the food was a bit middle-of-the-road for us this time, the excellent service and neighborhood feel make it a place I'll keep coming back to. It's a great spot to catch up with friends, enjoy a unique house beer, and soak in the local energy.

I can't speak for the drinks since I didn't order any, but the food is excellent. My standout dishes were the corazon anticuchos. The chimichurri they come with is incredibly flavorful. The pescado a lo macho is also fantastic; it has a rich, curry-like sauce served with white rice, and the combination is genuinely comforting. Definitely don't skip the tostones. We tried the pork tostones, and the portion of pork on top was generous to say the least. That said, I would personally skip the pork belly bao buns, the meat was a bit too tough for my liking. The desserts are good, but I'd recommend sharing them, as they can get quite heavy after a few bites. Overall, I'll definitely be coming back. This has become a new go-to spot in DC for me.
