    Baltic porter and rye IPA

Amazing beer and vibes at Henceforth. It is a beautiful, comfortable space with multiple places to choose from to hang out in. We really enjoyed the pecan nut brown, the dark lager, the Baltic porter, and the rye IPA. Service was great and made us feel right at home. Can easily see this place becoming *the* spot for a weekly gathering! Can't wait to come back here.

During a time when places are shutting down along H Street NE, it's refreshing to see a brewery move into such an iconic corner space. Right next to the historic Atlas Theatre, Henceforth seems small when you first walk in. The bar is stunning and there's seating around it, in front, and behind. The rest of the bottom floor is the actual brewery. Walk up the stairs and you'll be impressed by a front room and a very spacious back room. The design is welcoming. It's definitely a cozy gathering place and great for groups! The staff are passionate and know the menu well. There's a light food menu and of course beer. They sell what they brew from stouts to IPAs. Candidly, I'm not a beer guy outside of sour ale (which they don't have), but their wine list is impressive. I enjoyed my Riesling. I recommend Henceforth as your new community gathering place!

This is the newest brewery in DC. I have been here twice recently with my wife. The beers are quite affordable and very tasty. They also have premium drink and food options we have not yet tried. We had the same bartender both times who was very friendly. The ambiance makes it feel like it is oldest brewery with mid 20th century decor rather than the newest.

Clean, inviting, family-friendly atmosphere with delicious bites. My only advice is to add window blinds, as the sun beams directly into patrons' faces, causing glare and making it hard to enjoy a meal--especially when it's reflecting off phones and other surfaces. A simple fix that would make a big difference! Braised Short Ribs: 9/10. The ribs were moist and paired great with the turnip puree. Wish it had a little more sauce on it. Roasted Cauliflower: 10/10. This had an excellent smokey char. Triple Fried Fat Fries: 10/10. These are sooo good! Burger: 9/10. Solid cheeseburger it was just missing ketchup & mustard.

Decided to stop by prior to a show at the Atlas theater. Was surprised to discover that they've only been open for a short time. The service was nice. Quick. It's not too big, but they have an upstairs as well and bar seating. The fries were really good.

And fortunately, I found one that was perfectly right and proper! Before entering, Right and Proper had me won over with their outdoor mural paying homage to Duke Ellington and a who's who of local DC jazz heroes. Upon entering, I was even more blown away by their elaborate and wild indoor murals, especially the dog & cat bathroom art, and the EPIC animal battle centerpiece! Since I came towards the end of their night after the Brewers pizza party at Andy's Pizza, I wasn't particularly hungry. But I did make note of their cheese counter, where you could purchase offerings like Midnight Moon, Willoughby, and Morbier by the plate or to go by the pound. They also had a good selection of handhelds, appetizers, dinner, and brunch offerings. However, the best thing might be that, during the unpredictable government shutdown, they had the option to pay a meal or a beer forward to a neighbor in need. I also managed to enjoy their Brussel sprouts that delivered a pleasant umami bomb with its sweet Thai chili sauce and crushed peanuts. For beers, they had a right and proper mix that went beyond the IPA overload, while also having good ones like their Big Tomorrow west coast IPA. Their flights came at a reasonable price and allowed me to enjoy offerings like their Haxan robust porter, Senate Maerzen Marzen Oktoberfest style ale, and Super Carina Italian Pilsner. Factor in all of the above and a good selection of brewery games and table spaces, and they had everything I look for in a solid brewery!

I went with the Thai Chicken Wings and my friend had the Burger. Both were perfectly fine "pub grub"--solid options if you're hungry while grabbing a drink, even if they didn't necessarily steal the show. They're reliable, standard bites that pair well with their tap list. The Service: This is where Right Proper really shines. The staff is consistently friendly and welcoming, which is exactly what you want in a local haunt. You never feel rushed, and the service keeps the good vibes going. While the food was a bit middle-of-the-road for us this time, the excellent service and neighborhood feel make it a place I'll keep coming back to. It's a great spot to catch up with friends, enjoy a unique house beer, and soak in the local energy.

The group I went with this time was from my church and everyone loved what they ordered. The owner of the restaurant stopped by our table and introduced himself. He was very friendly and so was the waitress and the host. I ordered a Ruben, and Moroccan lamb sliders to go. Both were delicious! Then we went to the ice cream shop, quite a treat. The following day I went back with my grandson and had more time to browse around. I ordered the beet salad with goat cheese and my grandson had the confit duck leg with lentils, carrots with citrus demi glaze. We both really enjoyed our dinner. The shop had some very unique items and some hilarious objects. There's even a section where they sell wine and beer. This is definitely an unusual and fun place to visit. I highly recommend.

After eating, we went downstairs for some ice cream and I got the super chonk flavor (malted vanilla ice cream, fudge, peanut butter, brownie pieces). It hit the spot, tasted like real premium ice cream. Glad to have checked this spot out. I liked the family friendly ambiance and can tell it's an important part of the community.

Expectations were high, after my sister's go to craft brewery closed down and her husband took to Stone Silo immediately, signing up to be a club member. The building itself did have a stone silo on property that opened up to fields. There was a rustic, farm type feel walking in the front door. Welcomed by stone and dark colored woods, the facility was quite large and clean with ample seating. A glance outside there were fire pits and chairs to sit set, along with an 'adult only' section if you don't like your craft with a crying 2 year old. I sampled a few beer including the IPA, which was a bit underwhelming, but expected since the West Coast is known for quality IPAs. I settled on the Japanese rice lager, 'Nojo with Yuzu.' What a mistake! Not something I could get behind and I like yuzu too. Just too tart for a lager and not what I was looking for in my light beer selection. Second round I tried their Czech style dark lager, Clever Crow. Not sure what about this was supposed to be lager, it really felt more porter-ish to me, did not drink light and just not what I was looking for in a dark lager. The grounds and staff were great, it was a fun place to hang with family, but maybe I just made two poor beer decisions. Expected a bit more from the taps but would be willing to go back and give Stone Silo a second chance, as I know my bro-in-law will want to go back since it's close to the house

All the outdoor seating was full, and inside there was only one table available. Most of the tables are larger, so we noticed some groups sharing space, which actually worked out fine. The restaurant has a great open-air feel even indoors thanks to the large garage-style door that opens up an entire wall. For drinks, my wife ordered iced tea and I had a Peach Mule. The mule was good, but next time I'd skip the rim garnish. They also have a big beer selection, and the prices seemed very reasonable. For food, we ordered the brisket burger (single patty with cheese, topped with shaved brisket, jalapeño slaw, raw onion, pickles, and sauce). They offer a deal where you can add a side and drink for $5, so we added onion rings and also ordered the Serpent Fries as an appetizer. The fries came out first and looked great and they did not disappoint. Fresh cut with bacon, pico, scallions, and a serpent sauce (seemed like a beer cheese). Really flavorful, I did ask for ranch, which was an extra $0.50. I understand charging for extras, but not everyone uses ketchup or mustard, so that felt a little unnecessary. The burger came out shortly after, and it was excellent. We split it, and it was packed with flavor. Honestly, adding bacon would make it even better a "Triple B" (Bacon, Brisket, Burger) would be perfect. The only letdown was the onion rings. The onions inside were very thin and overcooked, leaving them dried out with little flavor. Even without the over-frying, the onions themselves just didn't have much taste. Definitely something they could improve. Overall, it's a great spot for burgers and fries, and we'll definitely be back for that. We saw other dishes come out that looked good too, so there's more to try next time.
