Calamari with pickled Fresno chiles, chipotle aioli, & lemon. $14 (July 2026)

Such a great neighborhood spot! They host a trivia weekly on Wednesdays from 7-9 and I come every week with friends because: 1) the trivia is really well organized -- shoutout to Jean with Two Girls Trivia, and 2) there will be something to eat and drink that fits everyone's tastes. Prices are reasonable: our 2-hour tab for 4 typically comes out around $100-$150. The staff are always friendly and attentive and the vibes are immaculate. BIG fan of Henceforth.

    Doble Hazy IPA

As a craft beer enthusiast this place is great! The beers are really good. I had a double hazy IPA, very good flavor and smooth with good hops. The service is great , friendly and knowledgeable. In the 1st floor is the brewery, the craft beer bar and couches in the front. Upstairs is the wine bar. Best part, no TVs. I highly recommend for a date night, client meetings, happy hour or just because. A must try on the legendary H Street in DC!

During a time when places are shutting down along H Street NE, it's refreshing to see a brewery move into such an iconic corner space. Right next to the historic Atlas Theatre, Henceforth seems small when you first walk in. The bar is stunning and there's seating around it, in front, and behind. The rest of the bottom floor is the actual brewery. Walk up the stairs and you'll be impressed by a front room and a very spacious back room. The design is welcoming. It's definitely a cozy gathering place and great for groups! The staff are passionate and know the menu well. There's a light food menu and of course beer. They sell what they brew from stouts to IPAs. Candidly, I'm not a beer guy outside of sour ale (which they don't have), but their wine list is impressive. I enjoyed my Riesling. I recommend Henceforth as your new community gathering place!

This is the newest brewery in DC. I have been here twice recently with my wife. The beers are quite affordable and very tasty. They also have premium drink and food options we have not yet tried. We had the same bartender both times who was very friendly. The ambiance makes it feel like it is oldest brewery with mid 20th century decor rather than the newest.

Amazing beer and vibes at Henceforth. It is a beautiful, comfortable space with multiple places to choose from to hang out in. We really enjoyed the pecan nut brown, the dark lager, the Baltic porter, and the rye IPA. Service was great and made us feel right at home. Can easily see this place becoming *the* spot for a weekly gathering! Can't wait to come back here.

    Braised Short Ribs

Clean, inviting, family-friendly atmosphere with delicious bites. My only advice is to add window blinds, as the sun beams directly into patrons' faces, causing glare and making it hard to enjoy a meal--especially when it's reflecting off phones and other surfaces. A simple fix that would make a big difference! Braised Short Ribs: 9/10. The ribs were moist and paired great with the turnip puree. Wish it had a little more sauce on it. Roasted Cauliflower: 10/10. This had an excellent smokey char. Triple Fried Fat Fries: 10/10. These are sooo good! Burger: 9/10. Solid cheeseburger it was just missing ketchup & mustard.

Decided to stop by prior to a show at the Atlas theater. Was surprised to discover that they've only been open for a short time. The service was nice. Quick. It's not too big, but they have an upstairs as well and bar seating. The fries were really good.

Flavor was solid all around; the ceviche and brisket bowl were spot on! Now the service was interesting, grace was given because it was a busy day, I mean everyone's coming out for Cinco de Mayo. However it seemed to stemmed more from being understaffed/unprepared for the day versus just poor service. Some patrons mentioned it's the norm but I want to come back when on a regular day. We were told if we waited that potentially they can fit us in however we had to leave our number and no response, communication, or resolution was given. It sad that we entrusted and booked this place weeks in advance for a bday celebration that was poorly managed and highly disappointing. I wish I could give zero stars!!!

As soon as we walked in we were blown away by the beautiful interior with the exposed brick and high ceiling. It truly felt like a bistro in the country side with all the plants hanging from the ceiling. The hostess was warm and friendly as she led us to our table. She was also our server which was a nice surprise. She was very patient and had great recommendations on menu items we should try. To start we got our drink orders in. I ordered the French 75 which was delicious and had a fried lemon wheel which was a nice touch. As an appetizer we ordered the hush puppies and let me tell you as a true southern woman from SC these were the best hush puppies I've ever had. They were hot, fresh and obviously made in house. The remoulade sauce on top along with the whipped honey butter balanced perfectly together for a delicious sweet and savory flavor. For my entree I ordered the steak frites. When I tell you this was the star of the evening please believe me. I love a good medium steak and this steak was cooked to perfection. It was tender and super flavorful. The peppercorn mushroom sauce on top took it to another level. I'm not even a mushroom fan but I absolutely would drink a bowl of that sauce lol. The chef, Joe, delivered our dishes to the table personally which I thought was so kind. He even chatted with us for a bit and made sure we enjoyed our meals. Overall, we both really enjoyed our dining experience at Cynthia and will definitely be back for brunch very soon.

But we were able to snag a reservation morning of. It's a super cute spot. Feels like you're inside someone's house almost. It's on the smaller side, but it's got a bright and clean aesthetic. It gives some Instagram-able vibes. Our server was good, despite it seeming like she was both making all the drinks and servicing all of the tables downstairs (a lot for one person). The menu has a good mix of sweet and savory options, breakfast items and more lunch-like items. There were also a couple of specials. A good amount of choices, but not an overwhelming amount (the just right amount). I opted for the eggs benedict, which was quite tasty. Perfectly poached eggs and crispy bacon with a delicious old bay hollandaise sauce. And it was very filling. The espresso martini was great. The Bloody Mary was a big disappointment. They also offer bottomless mimosas and bottomless bacon. All in all, a nice experience. I'm looking forward to coming back here for happy hour and/or dinner.

I also loved the ambience. The slightly dark, beautifully designed space feels cozy and intimate, while still having a modern vibe that remains faithful to its Levantine roots. Accessibility for those with infants: there is a long staircase to get up to the restaurant. We were aware of this before we got there. We were able to carry the stroller up the stairs, and the restaurant stored it for us during dinner and we kept the baby in the car seat at our table. They gave us a nice corner booth which was perfect for having the baby at dinner. The music was really loud in the restaurant, which was actually a good thing for our baby (kinda acted like white noise). Cocktails: I loved the Mish Mish cocktail. It was a great tequila based drink with a lot of flavor. Food menu: We tried dishes from most sections of the menu. Our favorites included the Basturma Rabbit Shawarma, whole fried Quail, and Haswei fried rice. The dishes were creative and fresh. We really liked everything we tried. Our one critique was that the Maryland Crab labneh was barely crabby at all. If I didn't know it had crab, I wouldn't have been able to tell. Everything else was phenomenal. And I loved the financier dessert and lemon Madelines. The fresh sourdough bread was amazing. Service: Excellent service! Our waiter was kind and welcoming. The food came out very promptly. The dessert took longer but it was because they were baking the madelines fresh. The manager brought us baklava as an extra dessert due to the wait (without us even saying anything). Great experience! Highly recommend! I would definitely go back again.
