This restaurant is a vibe. The music is soooo good here. Upstairs/inside had punk rock and downstairs/outside had R&B. The service was a bit strange outside, but fine overall. If you want indoor seating you'll go upstairs to their bar. If you want to sit in their outside covered patio, you'll continue past the bathrooms and down some more stairs. They have gender neutral single stall restrooms here. We came here after the US v. Australia World Cup game and had a blast. I loved my mojito. My husband and our friend really liked their masterson and four corners drink. We family styled a few dishes. I loved what we ordered. If you're looking for a late night bite this is definitely the place! I remember there being a bit of a wait but that didn't bother me it was very busy. What my mom and I order was well worth the wait. The food was hot, fresh, and very flavorful. I highly recommend the beef noodles and jade dumplings. Another place that will always be on my list for visitors. If you're looking for a quiet/ spacious place this is not the place haha. It is an extremely loud and tight (at least on the weekends), which may not be ideal for wanting to converse with who you came with easily. I love that they had all the drinks and ingredients written on a chalkboard behind the bar. I had the steak and crab fried rice and both were great. The crab fried rice was way more than I expected and perfect for sharing. It's open until 3 am on Friday and Saturday and the kitchen is open until 1 am. Space is limited, but luckily people were leaving right when we got there - there is a back open patio area apparently but didnt get to check it out. Maybe it's my Americanized taste buds but this place didn't do it for me. Located in, what feels like, a small upstairs hallway it definitely gives "your favorite dive bar" with limited seating and just enough space to squeeze between the bar and said seats. We sat at the bar during H street festival and got in before the crowd. We were serviced right away and ordered: Crab fried rice - 4/10 - the serving size was good but it lacked flavor outside of spice to me and definitely didn't see or taste any crab. I asked for sauce, any sauce (duck, sweet and spicy, chili, soy, ANYTHING) and they didn't have anything outside of the sauce served with the potstickers. While that did help the rice it couldn't save it. This seems to be one of their signature dishes but I wouldn't recommend it to any one. Shrimp & Pork Potsticker's - 6/10 - you get 6 to order but the shrimp was overcooked and the potstickers were small. I didn't taste any pork but I also couldn't find this on the menu so maybe it was just shrimp? I'm not sure it was loud in there haha. The sauce they served with it was good and helped bring it to a 6 otherwise this would've been a 4. The food came out fast and was hot so I appreciated that. The bar boasts an extensive menu with lots of drinks I'd like to try. Unfortunately one of the bartenders was using her bare hands to chop ice, and add in ingredients to the drinks and she had two bandaids on. I only ever saw her wipe her hands on her clothes and for me that was a deal breaker. I understand with going out there's a level of germs you're going to get by default and that may not bother people but it stopped me from getting a drink. I'd be willing to try this place again if I'm on H street and in the mood for Chinese food. Maybe if I try something different I'd enjoy it more. Don't order takeout even small orders. Not sure if they just can't prepare it on time or if the employees intentionally stall take out orders or system is broken. A Hidden Gem for Cocktails in DC After an amazing dinner, finding a great bar to continue the night is a must, and I'm so glad we followed our ramen spot's recommendation. They claimed it was one of DC's best cocktail bars, so of course, we had to check it out. This bar is first-come, first-served, so if you want a patio table or a good indoor spot, arrive early and be prepared to wait. Being on the second floor, the space is tight, but it adds to the intimate ambiance--perfect for a girlfriend hangout or a date night. The lighting is dim and moody, setting the perfect tone for a cozy evening. I told the bartender I'm an Old-Fashioned girl, and he surprised me with a Sazerac--a New Orleans twist on my go-to cocktail that I rarely see on the East Coast. It was phenomenal. My friend wanted something sweeter, so she first got a Hot Toddy, but when it wasn't quite her style, the bartender thoughtfully crafted another fruit-forward drink, which she loved. The level of attention to detail and skill in mixing these drinks was next level--some of the best cocktails I've ever had. A Little Something to Eat We also ordered the somber soup, which was like a pork dumpling soup without noodles--a perfect balance to our drinks. However, the wait for food was long--over an hour. Because of this, they comped both our food and drinks, which was unexpected but appreciated. Final Thoughts I'd definitely return for the drinks and atmosphere, but keep in mind: *Come early if you want a seat without a long wait. *It gets crowded and loud, so it's not a quiet wine bar experience. *Service is thoughtful, but food can take a while. Even though I didn't see our final bill, I'd estimate it would have been around $80 assuming an auto-tipping policy.
