    Toffee dessert

Primrose is such a charming restaurant in Brookland. We went for dinner with friends on a Thursday night. The restaurant decor is thoughtful and aesthetically pleasing. I loved the details and vases on the little ledges over the windows. The service was friendly. Our waiter explained the menu thoroughly and offered suggestions. I really liked that there were a couple mocktail options for drinks. Some of the food highlights included the lentil poppers, Parker house rolls, butter lettuce Caesar, the burger, the steak, and the rockfish. Everything was delicious and fresh. We tried the sunchokes, and we weren't really sure what vegetable we were getting. They were kind of like a potato or turnip. It was different for us, but we liked the flavor and presentation. The sticky toffee dessert was A+! Definitely recommend. Primrose is such a gem. I would definitely come back to dine again.

Me, my wife and son visited Primrose recently since we live in the neighbor. I haven't been here in years and I was excited to go. The service was on point. Our waiter was attentive and mindful of the fact that brunch was ending soon from the time we arrived. I order the crispy potatoes and the bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches while my wife ordered the chicken and waffles. I enjoyed my sandwich and half salad. The bacon was thick cut which I was a fan of. As for the chicken and waffles it was sub-par. The chicken was overcooked as well as the waffle. My ideal type of waffle is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. This waffle was dense. The potato were fantastic. Look forward to trying more of their menu.

Primrose was pretty good but portions were small and prices were high. Dishes were simple and straightforward, which can be good but also lame. It seems like a good restaurant to have in Brookland (which doesn't have enough options) but I wouldn't make the trip to visit again. More like 3.5 stars. I had heard good things about it over the years but never visited until now. I stopped by Saturday night at 7 PM with a group of four. The place wasn't too busy, with maybe half the inside seats occupied and almost no one on the patios. We had a liter of the Glassmaker chilled red ($60) which was very good. Then shared the Parker House Rolls ($15, 6 pieces), Tomato ($15), Sashimi ($16, 3 pieces), Sunchokes ($15), Pork Belly ($19), Duck Breast ($22), and Hake ($35). For dessert, the Blueberry Icebox Pie ($14) and Chocolate Pot de Creme ($13). Split among four people, this was enough but a bit light. Our favorite dishes were the hake and the tomatoes. The tomatoes should really come with bread to soak up the nice sauce. The pork belly and duck were were simple, straightforward presentations; I would like to see something more interesting. The desserts were tasty but a bit lame -- both simple, both made in advance, both sharing a toasted meringue component. Service was good. Our server was friendly and helpful about the wine selection. All of the savory food came out very quickly and appropriately coursed. There were too minor missteps: they said the sashimi was 5 pieces (it was 3) and there was a very long wait for desserts (not explainable since they were both premade). The menu was mostly accurate to the website. Website had one extra savory dish and one extra dessert that were not there IRL. FYI The bill has a 5% service fee.

Gotta love a good brunch! We were welcomed in to a nice crowd, DJ, & a great playlist. I hope they keep that up because the vibe was nice. I gave 4 stars because they only had 1 waiter for the entire place so service was pretty slow.

In a bit of a remote location, and service was a bit on the slower side, but the food was pretty good. Not too many people for a Saturday night and we were able to make reservations day of which was good for us. The decor and vibe were really nice. Brussel sprouts a bit greasy but the trout and it's accompaniments were perfect. The shortbread dessert wasn't too sweet and was different than other desserts.

Yall! I was judging these small portion sizes and wasn't sure what to expect. Baaaaaby, it was a treat. I really enjoyed the options that we had! The half roasted chicken was a favorite. Their chickpea poppers were our appetizers (and, skeptical). Those little things were POPPING Indeed. lol. Had a slight "kick" to them and they are served HOT, but so yummy. As someone who is not a big fish person, I wasn't sure about the fish as I've never had tilefish before. It was the "Parsley Crusted Atlantic Tilefish" Drinks were okay, I enjoyed the gin inspired drink, but didn't enjoy the second one. I forgot what it was though. Service was friendly, approachable. It was such a cute spot. I loved being surrounded by the plants on the outdoor/patio area. I was skeptical at first, but I was made a believer. So good! Opened my mind and my heart. I'll be back.

Around the corner from our new home and it's going to be our go to spot! The bar menu goes all night vs having a happy hour, so has a lot of the same small and large plates + drinks that you'd get when sitting at the table (but cheaper- definitely the way to go!). Leah was our bartender and she was so great with wonderful service all around. The ambiance was so cute and well lit.

Decent food and the service was friendly and consistent! We had a group of 3 and came here for a late lunch. I loved their duck hash - wish there was more duck on the plate so that I could eat it proportionally with the amount of potatoes I had. The sweet potato crème brûlée was good but too dense for me, and therefore didn't satisfy me the way other crème brûlées do.

So convinent to be able to walk here! The seasonal menu is a hit 9/10. I loved the duck salad from this past winter. A standout this season is the gazpacho made with green tomato/cucumbers and the chickpea bites. The service for drinks is a little slow but the ambiance is great!

The wall shows some of the drinks on the menu and the ingredients/glass it comes in which I thought was a nice touch. Bartenders were friendly but not too chatty as they were super busy but you never waited long for a drink. The bourbon drink with the whipped honey was our favorite but the gin drink that was pink was also fantastic. For food I did try the buffalo chicken dip, pretty large and tasty (not too spicy) and loved the super crisp celery and the fritos. It tasted like a rainbow--just bright and with a really delicious after taste. I should have stopped at the rose but after my trying my friend's, i had to have one! We initially came for happy hour, but moved to the cocktail menu. The hh was a bit limited, but the drinks were priced overall pretty reasonably for the area. My one complaint is the wine glasses were so teeny. Overall though, I would recommend this bar. Bonus: cheese balls when you sit down! For a solid hour, you're like, "Wow... I am bougie like they say." Then the bartender calls out "Last call!" And as you take one final dramatic sip of your fancy drink, the lights come on like someone just hit the emergency button and whoa. Wait just one minute, I don't want to go home. That's when the migration begins. In Union Market, there's a place where all the local residents take their talents once the posh restaurants shut down and that place is Last Call Bar, the bar that welcomes you and your rapidly declining standards with open arms. And the food? Oh, the food is a spiritual journey. They kick things off with Jell‑O shots, which already tells you exactly what kind of night you're about to have. But it gets even better. They have food and the menu is full of options only a person who drank 5 cocktails could truly appreciate, the kind of late‑night masterpieces that would horrify you at noon but taste like gourmet brilliance after midnight. I'll take a hot dog please! The vibe is pure "we should've gone home but didn't" energy. The music is loud enough to drown out your responsibilities. The crowd is a mix of restaurant refugees, people who swore they were having an early night, and folks who are definitely lying to themselves about how early they have to wake up. It's a diverse crowd. More on the younger side but a sprinkle of adults that have kids in college or corporate jobs. The bartenders deserve awards for dealing with customers who insist they're "totally fine" while holding onto the bar like it's a support beam. And honestly? That's the magic. The best memories happen during the real happy hours of our days, bedtime hours, when you're either having way too much fun in the sheets or making the kind of decisions you'll laugh about (or regret) the next day. Last Call Bar isn't curated. It isn't polished. It isn't pretending. It's the place where your bougie persona quietly steps aside and you says, "Let's get a hot dog". If you want a place where the night gets a second wind and your dignity takes a short break, welcome home. Let's get into it! Drinks - Perfectly made! Way to go to the bartender! Hot dog- at this late hour it tasted like a filet mignon! Give me another! Eeeek! A watering hole - every one needs a hole that waters! Xo

Service has a bartender or two behind working the counter. The drinks are really cheap which you can't say much for DC area bars. The food menu I wish was a bit more expansive but if you just come here for drinks the menu is solid and price competively
