Very loud inside. Not great for an intimate date night but def check them out. The bread basket comes out in a sack and is full to the brim. Make sure to ask for butter because they don't automatically give it to you. Me and my friend shared these items: - Artichokes: 8/10. Good but nothing memorable. $14. - Cauliflower: 10/10. My favorite dish of the night! The sauce pairs excellent with the toasted cauliflower. I basically licked the plate. $14. - Steak Frites: 7/10. Decent. We ordered medium rare and should have gotten medium. It was a little chewy and could have used seasoning. Not worth $39 imo.
We came to this spot for brunch and was genuinely impressed by the food, atmosphere, and service. The vibe here is just awesome! Buzzy but not overly loud, with stylish decor that sets the perfect mood for a relaxing brunch with friends or family. To kick things off, I had a mimosa and an iced latte. For food, we ordered the Escargots à L'ail (first timer with this!!!) It was six escargots swimming in a flavorful garlic parsley butter, with flaky puff pastry rounds for dipping. I was definitely nervous, but the flavors were rich without being overpowering, and the pastry added just the right amount of flavor. For the table, we shared the Warm Pistachio Crusted Goat Cheese Ball served with honey and some decadent red wine caramelized onions. The combination of the creamy goat cheese, sweet honey, and savory onions was absolutely amazing. This was definitely a highlight and highly recommended for sharing.. One unique thing: they offer bottomless mimosas and bellinis for one hour. We don't see much of bottomless mimosas in VB, so I found this exciting. For my entree, I couldn't resist the B.E.C.C.: crispy bacon, creamy scrambled eggs (although I swapped in a fried egg), and gruyère cheese all piled on a freshly baked croissant, plus your choice of fresh fruit or Basque potatoes (the potatoes are great, by the way). It hit all the right spots. A buttery croissant, salty bacon, melty cheese, and the yolk from my fried egg just tied it all together. Service was top-notch: attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly without ever being intrusive. All around, this brunch was a winner! So glad we came here.
Came here for brunch with some friends and really enjoyed it! Our server was very friendly and attentive and the ambience is top notch. We split an order of the goat cheese as well as the escargot. Both had us scraping every morsel off the plate with the giant bags of baguette they bring out. For brunch, I got a cucumber-infused gin cocktail and the croque madame. The bacon was so thin and perfectly crispy and packed with flavor. The ham inside the croque madame was salt and savory and so yum. I absolutely loved it. The potatoes it comes with were also really tasty. Overall it was a wonderful brunch experience!!
You all already know, I'm a girlie girl and I don't like driving. So if I'm meeting you anywhere in the city - send me an Uber! Parking is tough! Amelie is another French restaurant in the city. Small, subdued lighting, tight, very NYCish vibe, and decor that is different. I pay attention to detail in all things in life so critiquing a restaurant is a thing for me. The red modern lights that look like bottles along the wall are an accent for maybe the French flag theme they have going on? Light fixtures are somewhat modern they have cute ball lights over the bar and then 1980's lights over the tables. Tables are super tight, if you're a big person ask for seating in the back. Service: We had a French waitress which added a flare to the experience! She was polite and attentive. It was restaurant week! I was terrified to order what I really wanted, a cheeseburger, so I acquiesced and followed the lead and chose the prefixed menu for 2026 Restaurant week! To be fair, the menu was limited, the restaurant week menu was actually better IMO. Plus, you get dessert and I'm a dessert girl so it worked! (Shrugs, I can really be a cheap date.) I'll have to come back for the cheeseburger because it LOOKED delicious! Let's get into it! Bread Basket: Too cute! Bread was okay but there was no butter or oil. We passed! Came here during DC winter restaurant week - this is one of the few restaurants that still has a $25 lunch menu (although there are various amounts of add-ons for more selections) - 2 course, but three to choose from - you can have either app and main, or main and dessert, however you want to mix and match. I had wanted to try the escargot app, but it was sold out so had the soup of the day instead, which was cream of celery and apple, not bad although I was still disappointed about the escargo. Other than that we liked all the other dishes - mussels came with skinny fries and was absolutely delicious, huge portion too - first time having a mussels dish and had to take half of it home. The restaurant is relatively new opened about a year and half ago. Dining room is not small with charming decor in red and white that's quite memorable. Tables seem to be all various length rows of small two tops that can feel a bit cramped for two people but when not too busy you can get two put together which is definitely the preferred way to go if you like a more spacious dining environment.
Service was great! The food was okay. I personally felt that nothing from my order (Amelie burger and Chocolate mousse) stood out that I'd recommend going back but overall a good experience for brunch during restaurant week.
This is a gorgeous space! The bar is beautiful and they have happy hour on Saturdays. The wine flight is very popular so you can try a variety of drinks. We got a warm cheese and they kept bringing us more bread so no complaints there.
I have the rockfish and my wife had the Long Island Duck, medium. Both were excellent. We tasted each others and loved them both... the fish was fresh and lite. Very enjoyable. The duck breast was perfectly cooked and enjoyable she said. She ate it all, so there is that. The service was very good, especially for a Saturday night around 9. Not loud, not rushed but friendly noisy... lots of conversations... My wife had the escargot and I had the crispy octopus. She liked the escargot, but wasn't as lush garlic as she liked. The octopus was perfect, especially with the potato's and carrot puree with chipotle. We would get the octopus again.
I wish Amelie's brunch lived up to its exterior and service. Ordered a couple items and all of us felt each item was okay. My omelette lacked flavour. It was three people, and we ordered a charcuterie with three items (not pictured). It's a very small board and made for one person. I wouldn't consider it a shareable. My lychee drink, which is usually on the sweetest side of things was actually a little sour as well. Would return for simple drinks or maybe their dinner menu is executed better because the bar looked really nice and staff was very welcoming. Ambience is casual or dressy, perfect for groups or intimate dates. Very well decorated as well with dimmer lighting.
So I have been a full-time lurker of this restaurant and finally took the plunge and made happy hour plans with a friend. Walking into this restaurant it is super cute. The staff is very friendly and inviting. The happy hour is a great deal. There's so many options to cater to a lot of dietary needs, in addition to there being a lot of drink options and specials. My friend and I ordered the mussels and fries in addition to a glass of wine and a martini. It was such a nice table since we got to sit close to the window and get a little people watching in. We were checked on frequently, and when we received the bill, I was really surprised to see how low it was, especially since we had gotten a few other glasses of wine since. I would definitely come back here, it is such a fun place. We stayed later into the evening and it definitely picked up in business. If you're looking for a place to mingle meet a lot of people I think this is definitely the spot for you. They have a huge wine selection in addition to some really delicious food. The prices are very on point and pretty reasonable for the area.
Met a friend for happy hour and we had a lovely time. No line, lots of tables open at 4:30pm on a Tuesday. We ordered from the happy hour menu and we both order a flights of wine. We order the goat cheese, the baked Camembert, the roasted cauliflower and the truffle fries. We were able to ask for another bag of bread too since we had both cheeses to dip from. Not a lot of parking, it's on 14th so of course but there is street parking if you can find it. The staff was attentive, picked up our empty plates in a timely manner and the bill was decent.
Took my brother here for his 30th birthday, and I must say--it was AMAZING! The service was truly 10/10. One of the owners was so kind, and our server was not only beautiful but also incredibly pleasant and attentive. I noticed the place started getting busy pretty quickly, which is always a good sign. The escargot was outstanding, and the wine flights during happy hour (only $12!) were such a generous pour. The space itself is beautiful, with plenty of indoor seating as well as outdoor options. I'll definitely be coming back soon!
Cute, cozy spot for French food located on 14th Street and just a few blocks away from Logan Circle! I've been dying to try Amelie ever since I saw their orange wine flight in NYC, so I was super excited when they finally opened their doors in DC. However, when I finally did make my way over to Amelie (somehow over a year after they opened...who knows what happened there), it didn't quite live up to the hype. I visited Amelie with a couple of friends for dinner, and we had a great time. The ambiance was really nice, with great energy and almost a buzz in the air, but it also felt cozy and quiet enough to have a relatively intimate meal. We were seated in the center of the restaurant, so we were in the perfect spot to soak in all the great vibes. The server was friendly, but they tried to upcharge us on every single item we ordered; they kept trying to convince us to get add-ons, and they also charged us for our extra baskets of bread (although, to be totally fair, we did have a few baskets and it *was* really good bread). One of my friends ordered the classic burger and the other got the mussels, and I ordered the raviole. We all enjoyed our dishes, but all felt that they were pretty basic; they were tasty, but standard and didn't leave us craving more. The raviole was a fun vegetarian pasta dish, with mini ravioli cooked in a creamy green sauce and topped with small pieces of squash and pine nuts. It was tasty, and I loved the earthiness from the sauce and extra texture from the nuts, but it generally felt like a pretty one-note dish. I found myself feeling a bit bored of the pasta within the first quarter of the meal, but it did get better as I started breaking up bites of pasta with nibbles of bread (which, again, was fantastic). The staff also tried to rush our meal a bit, checking in every 5-10 minutes and heavily signaling that it was time for us to exit, despite our total meal only taking just about an hour. It was a fun place, but Amelie probably won't be at the top of my want-to-try-again list for a bit; however, I do still want to get that orange wine flight, so maybe I'll find myself back here for a happy hour.
What a delightful brunch! I met coworkers here and was able to share some appetizers and more. We agreed to share escargot and this goat cheese ball. We received two lovely bags of bread... I will say, I thought there was more in the bags than there actually was, but I loved that presentation haha. I decided to branch out from brunch norms and get this Manhattan ... The Ba'Nanhattan. The notes were very nutty and it had dried bananas in it, I loved it! I tried my coworker's cucumber drink, and as someone who does not like cucumbers, I couldn't deny how refreshing and summery that was. I was on the fence about a couple of entrees, but I decide to get the BECC... Bacon egg & cheese croissant. WHEW! That thing was so flaky and every ingredient was simply delicious. I was the only one at the table that didn't get potatoes with my entree... I went for the fruit instead. Little did I know that it was going to be all melons. I only started liking watermelon last year, and that was fine, but the cantaloupe?? I still don't like it. I could have asked to swap out but I didn't want to be difficult. And I didn't ask what kind of fruit it was, so that is on me. After this brunch experience, I'll be curious to come on other occasions. Happy hour, dinner.... I usually don't go for French food, but I liked what I had and I would definitely return. read more

I stopped in for dinner, and I was greeted politely and seated immediately. I ordered the mussels, and it was delicious! And, it was a huge portion--enough for two! The weather was nice, so the doors were open, and people were sitting outside. The ambiance of the place was perfect for a date night, a small gathering, or (in my case) a "treat yourself" dinner. I meant to make it to happy hour, where their special offerings/pricing seem interesting, but I missed it. If you love French food, I highly recommend this place! read more

This is the best happy hour deal I've had so far in the city! $21 for a giant serving of mussels, fries, a glass of wine, and a bowl of bread was amazing! Service was lovely and the ambiance was so cute for a date or happy hour with friends. The fries were crispy and hot and the mussels were perfectly cooked, herby and brothy. I came in with high expectations after reading all the glowing Yelp reviews - perhaps that was my downfall! Everything was a letdown except for the kind service by the waitstaff, so I give them credit. Thank you for your great service, but your food was mediocre and bland! I came here during Restaurant Week, so that may have added to very basic flavor profiles and budget picks. Appetizer: I ordered the filet mignon carpaccio - was initially excited for what was advertised. but it was oily and flavorless at the same time. Main course: My pick was the local seared skate fish - overly salted with a tasteless cream sauce. My friend ordered a braised chicken, which she said was quite dry. Dessert: We both tried the Grand Marnier chocolate mousse thinking it would be an easy win by the description alone - but it was like eating dry airplane food. Left feeling confused at what we just paid for. Still searching for our neighborhood French go-to spot, but this isn't it! read more
My fiance and I came here for my birthday dinner. It was our first experience here but I read the reviews and perused the menu before making the reservation - which did require we put a card down just in case we were a No Show for the reservation at which they would charge may $10-20? We made it just in time for one round of happy hour drinks, including an old fashioned for him and a yummy sangria for me! Our waitress was very kind and attentive. The complimentary bread was delicious! We shared a couple of apps before our main dishes and everything was so so good! Our ambiance and atmosphere were all great. read more

I absolutely love coming here! They have one of the better happy hours in dc and always deliver when it comes to their food! The inside is so cute and when the weather is nice they open up the doors to the patio and everyone gets to enjoy! read more

Came here last night for a last minute solo dinner and it was the best decision. I love the look of the restaurant. Lights are somewhat dimmed with red accents everywhere. I was already impressed by the weekend happy hour deals. I started with the Aromatic whites wine flight (great pours for $12!!). All 3 wines were delicious and the bartender, Fabio was the best and very engaging throughout my time at the bar. I had the beef tartare and it was the best I've ever had! I then ordered a glass of the Domain du Somail Red Blend paired with the steak frites, which was the best pairing. I was stuffed but decided to get the crème brulee, which you could never go wrong with. It was the best CB I've had in a while. I will definitely be back for restaurant week or just an impromptu happy hour. read more

My new, favorite neighborhood French restaurant. I've visited three times and can't wait to return. Amelie serves delectable meals and offers an incredible happy hour! $21 for mussels+wine or burger+beer is well worth Amelie's attentive service, beautiful decor, and tasty food. The windows to the outdoor are always open for good or even hot weather but the interior A/C keeps the restaurant and its guests at a perfect temperature. I have yet to order a dish that I didn't like. read more

Back again! Ordered the Steak...BOMB. With three French restaurants on 14th, Amelie is definitely a stand out. The vibe is just right, the service is always A1 and the food is delicious. My steak was cooked perfectly, the perfect portion. Loved the little salad that came on the plate, and the fries were good. We came in during their 1 year anniversary week and there were tons of decorations up, which was really nice to see. We got there right around happy hour, so we opted for some truffle fries and drinks. My sangria was really good, it was definitely a summery vibe and the fries were well seasoned. The service at the bar was great, our bartender was nice and accommodating to all the patrons, she also suggested a few of her favorite menu items. Looking forward to the next visit. read more

Food was okay, the service was subpar. My friends brought me here to celebrate my birthday; either the restaurant was understaffed (only one bartender) and/or their level of customer service needs fine tuning to make this a well rounded experience. While I enjoyed myself per the recommendation of my friends, I would not visit again on my own. Duck Confi was nice. read more
Came to Amelie for restaurant week and had a wonderful time! Came in a Wednesday night around 7:30 to a very busy restaurant. We had a reservation but had to wait ~5-10 minutes before being seated. The restaurant is beautiful! Very cozy and casual with a touch of glamor. They have some good cocktail and mocktail options as well as a nice wine list. I went for a non-alcoholic grapefruit soda which was exactly what I was in the mood for and served in a nice high ball glass with a lemon. So happy to see an actual lemon wedge! The dried fruit wheels are pretty but I like squeezing actual lemon into my drink. To start I had a mushroom toast which was a HUGE portion. It was tasty and filling, I only ate half to save room. The coq a vin was the star of the show for my main. Every bite was decadent and the portion was generous and beautifully served. To finish I had a decaf americano with creme brulee. The cream brulee didn't quite do it for me, the texture was a but off and it was very very fluffy and egg forward without enough sweetness, I still enjoyed it but couldn't say it was my favorite creme brulee. All of the staff are excellent, super professional and welcoming. A manager greeted us to ask how we enjoyed everything which I personally always appreciate. Overall I had a great time and would love to come back for brunch. If you go for dinner, the coq a vin is a must!! read more
