I am surprised by the low rating. My boyfriend and I came here for his birthday breakfast before a trip to the museum. We had a wonderful and cozy time here and we spoke ab going back for dessert our whole trip. We took a train in from NYC and this cafe was local to our hotel. I'll share our live and in the moment review of everything we got: La Betty: Cheesy grits : 3/5 Biscuits: ham and cheese special 3.5/5 - jam and butter 5/5 Hibiscus mint tea: 4/5 King cake donut : 5/5 Strawberry and cream donut: 5/5 Overall, I wouldn't say this was the best food food place, but definitely a fire snack place. The pastries were sooo so yummy. The butter the biscuit came with was to die for !!! Our server Q was great and attentive ! I would certainly recommend as a cute, local, cozy cafe.

Photos of the food were unfortunately not saved but my faves were the shishito peppers, steak au poivre and the shrimp scampi! The la Betty experience was also very enjoyable. Feels like a night out at a friends place. They spun records all night. The seating is cozy - walk in only. Bartenders are friendly and you order food and wine from the bar! Would def return and try other bites and see how the decor changes with the seasons!

Great cozy place in the heart of DC. The vibe was retro with music playing in the background, and records displayed on the walls. The setting was sofas, chairs and booths, creating that warm and welcoming atmosphere. My good food was delicious French toast with a tasty cup of coffee. The service was friendly and pleasant.

This place is sinfully good! A delightful breakfast spot with AMAZING donuts... First, service was quick and smooth. Upon walk in, a kind worker met us with their iPad and immediately took our order. I ordered the egg bowl and my boyfriend had the breakfast sammie. For my egg bowl I ordered a side of avocado and bacon (extra charge) and I'm sure glad that I did. This dish contains a salsa sauce which brings together the perfect balance of spiciness, an incredibly well prepared scrambled egg, delicious breakfast potatoes, and all of the components necessary to keep you filled and satisfied. Let's just say that I will be ordering this AGAIN! My boyfriend loved his egg sammie. We also split a maple donut-OMG! These donuts were INCREDIBLE. I must say that there was nothing that I did not love about this place. The service, ambiance, pastries, and breakfast selections are spot on! Hope that they stick around for a long time because they've gained a new customer.

Embrace the change! Its worth it. Have an open mind. Do I miss a Baked Joint, sure. But, things change and to keep a business going sometimes they need to change with the times. I love the work they did. I was there on the third day since. they had their grand opening. We made reservations to sit on the inside. You will find a line develops for people ordering inside and picking up orders. It definitely has the coffee house vibe. There are some tables, and some couch set up seating available. I recommend stating if you want a table to sit at if you plan on having more than just drinks. I was there with my two kiddos. We sat at the bar seating facing outdoors. It was a nice seating option. We ordered a few items. We opted for the yogurt, a goat cheese biscuit, 2 donuts, and chia pudding. Everything was wonderful. My children raved about the yogurt and my daughter found something new she likes, chia pudding. She was happy she ordered it. The goat cheese buscuit packed great flavor. It was not over powering. The donuts were ok. I personally prefer a cake donut, but there as nothing wrong with their donuts. It's all preference. Our waitress was great. She explain items that were her favorite and guided me with explanations on the food. The staff at La Betty and their sister store Baked and Wired have always been amazing! I took the metro in and walked about 10-15 minutes. It was a nice walk and area. The decor was really nice. I loved the vibes. Turns out they do things in the evening. Follow them on their social media outlets for more information, For just being open 3 days I think everything was wonderful. I'm excited to see whet the future holds for them.

I miss Baked Joint and the old Betty (the focaccia pizzas and veggie burgers were so good! The weird new set-up doesn't have a register or kiosk - you're supposed to awkwardly order through a staff member when you walk in. There are 2 sides, a side with table service and a more casual side. The breakfast and lunch menu are paired down - so glad that Sammie made the cut and still on the menu! The donuts sadly replaced all of the cupcakes, while the other dessert bars and baked goods have stayed the same (OMG S'mores bar is still there!). I wasn't a fan of the beignet style Matcha or the Chocolate Mousse Donut. The Matcha had a subtle flavor and very little filling. While the Chocolate Mousse donut was tasty, Nutella would have been a better filling and wish the donut was a bit softer and fluffier, I miss the old days at Baked Joint with the aroma of fresh bread and biscuits and being able to a small slice of focaccia bread or a single biscuit a la carte. Might be back sometime for a Sammie and a S'mores bar!

I was surprised to see the new name since this spot was once known as A Baked Joint, which I've always loved! I usually stick to my go-to order--the Just Biscuit with eggs and a drink. I've also tried their cakes, which were really good. I was tempted to try the new donuts but decided to hold off this time. My son ordered the BLT and said it was delicious. The service has always been great at A Baked Joint, and it's just as good here since many of the same employees are still around. One of the gentlemen in particular always brings such great vibes, which I appreciate. I also love the cute décor at La Betty! I'm excited to return to try their wine--I've heard they even have a live DJ. Overall, I'd give them a solid 4/5.

    Checking out their new donuts!

I was a huge fan of their former bakery and community space, A Baked Joint, so I wanted to try their new donuts at their re-opening day here. The donuts are all yeast based and personally I am a bigger fan of cake donuts. I tried the pumpkin spice donut, which was very light and well spiced. I had high hopes for the coconut cream donut, but it honestly didn't taste like much except sugar. I snagged their delicious, classic cinnamon roll, which the owner said has been in her family for generations. It took them 20 minutes to fulfill my 3-item order, but I'm giving them grace because I'm sure they're still working out the kinks as it was their big day. I absolutely love the atmosphere though, there's beautiful wood paneling and it's very vibey with oriental rugs and cozy corners.

I enjoy going to la Betty in the morning to get breakfast, coffee or just a sweet treat. The service is great and the place has a great vibe. It's a must try!! A super cute place to go and chill with friends over coffee and donuts!!

I stumbled upon La Betty today, and I'm so glad I did. This charming cafe and bakery has a fantastic vibe that makes you feel right at home. I stopped by to grab one of their breakfast sandwiches, the Sammie, which is definitely a must-try. As I was waiting, I couldn't resist the temptation of their Halloween themed donuts. They all look amazing and are beautifully decorated for the season. La Betty isn't just about breakfast; it transforms into a cozy wine bar in the evenings. From 5-11 PM, you can enjoy some light fare while sipping on wine. Plus, there's a DJ spinning some cool hits from 8 PM to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, perfect for a fun night out. What I really love about La Betty is its family owned charm. The atmosphere encourages you to disconnect from the world, put your phone away, and engage in good conversations. It really feels like a home away from home. The decor is on point, with cool turntables, vintage albums, and big speakers on the wall. The wooden accents and stylish rugs create a warm and inviting space that's perfect for relaxing or hanging out with friends. If you're looking for a place to enjoy great food, espresso, good wine, and an even better atmosphere, La Betty is definitely worth a visit. Can't wait to come back and enjoy some wine with friends.

Love in the day and night. The decor is super chic. During the day, La Betty has great matcha, coffee, and doughnuts. At night it becomes a lovely wine bar. I don't drink so I got the Shirley temple with in house grenadine, which was fab. I hope they add non-alcoholic wine options soon!

    Dr. Rachel C.

Absolutely loved the vibe here!!! I've been here earlier in the day and I must say they have the best matcha!! However, tonight I was introduced to the kindest bartender, Maxwell! She was so bubbly, welcoming, and full of positive energy from the moment we sat down. Not only did she give us great wine recommendations, but she took the time to chat, and make everyone feel like a they were apart of a wonderful table side experience. You can tell she genuinely enjoys what she does, and it makes the whole experience that much better. Can't wait to come back and see at Maxwell again!

This review is strictly for breakfast, as the space also operates as a wine bar in the evening. I was in DC and wanted to stop by my favorite morning spot, A Baked Joint, for my go-to breakfast sandwich. To my surprise, it was closed. How could that be? I had been there just a month earlier. Fortunately, I learned that La Betty is owned by the same team and carries over some of A Baked Joint's menu items. That said, the two spots feel very different. La Betty has an eclectic, dimly lit, sit-down coffee shop vibe, more of a place to pull out your laptop and work quietly. A Baked Joint, on the other hand, was bright, bustling, and perfect for grabbing a quick bite and coffee. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about La Betty replacing A Baked Joint, as they seem to cater to different audiences and could easily coexist independently. Still, La Betty offers table service, which is a nice touch, and my server was extremely friendly and helpful. I ordered the NC Country Ham breakfast sandwich, a carryover from A Baked Joint and my favorite breakfast sandwich in DC. The ham, eggs, and cheddar are cooked to perfection. The eggs are soft, pillowy folds of deliciousness, and the roll it sits on is perfectly crunchy. The Ube Blackberry Latte was also quite tasty. I'll definitely be back for the breakfast sandwich, and I'm curious to return in the evening to check out the wine bar as well.

The standout in the Neri were the shellfish for me. Even though they were small bits, the pieces tasted fresh. In the Gnocchi, the saltiness of the prosciutto, though not overwhelming, paired well with the basil sauce. I finished a little more than half of each plate before boxing it up for a small lunch the next day. The service was great and the tall ceiling and windowed dining room provided a nice atmosphere. I've had galbi at countless Korean restaurants, many of which charge under $30 while delivering significantly better flavor and quality. The seasoning was noticeably different from what I'm accustomed to, and not in a good way. For the price, it felt extremely underwhelming. -Pa Jeon - Just okay. It was a standard Korean pancake that didn't stand out in any particular way. -Tofu Stew - We ordered it mild, but it was surprisingly spicy and excessively salty. The saltiness overwhelmed most of the other flavors in the dish. -Korean Fried Chicken - Unfortunately, this suffered from the same issue. The chicken itself was decent, but it was far too salty, making it difficult to enjoy. Final Thoughts - The biggest issue for me was the value. Nearly every dish felt overpriced for the quality being served, and the excessive saltiness across multiple items made the meal even more disappointing. While the restaurant looks great and has a modern atmosphere, the food simply did not justify the prices. Considering how many excellent Korean restaurants I've been to over the years, this was one of the more disappointing experiences. Unfortunately, I wouldn't return.

I've been to Mandu a few times over the years and I'm sorry to say my most recent visit didn't hit…read morethe mark. I visited on a Friday around 6:30 PM and sat at the bar to catch the end of happy hour (Mon-Sun 5-7 PM). The bar was empty at the time, but a few other people showed up later. The dining room had a handful of tables occupied. In short, easy to get a seat. Drinks were good. I like the Somaek ($6) which is a small beer and a shot of soju. Beer ($7) was beer. We got some beef and pork mandu (dumplings) that were pretty good. 6 pieces for $10 on HH. We got two entrees, the Ddukbokgi ($28) and Yukgaejang ($29), which came with four banchan. Ddukbokgi is chewy rice cakes, gochujang, onion, and bulgogi. We thought it was only ok -- we've had better, including at Mandu in the past. Yukgaejang was a new dish for me. The menu described it as a "spicy beef stew, brisket, noodles, shiitake, bean sprouts, and egg." I expected the brisket to be sliced and recognizably brisket, but it was pulled -- it looked and tasted more like pulled pork. The dish also didn't have any noodles in it. I didn't like it. The banchan was seaweed, bean sprouts, kimchi, and cucumbers. It was okay. Service at the bar was fine.

Now the review.. where on God's green earth in this day and age does an establishment that sells a hamburger NOT have an extra patty option??? The server was a good dude but told me each patty was an uncharted for an entire burger meal... my order is no bun, no fries, no salad and no fruit.... why the heck would I agree to 25 bucks for a patty as an add on... Ill pay the first hit as a matter of menu price but... not the same for just another patty.. I don't know what sort of vodoo happened here but the good staff figured it out and I got a couple of patties extra without the terrible fee... I did pay extra and thats great. Cant say ill come here again because without a standard approach, I cant say ill get the same price... standards matter. I get it Get on board please... this is not the stone age and we have technology... its also a very very common thing for extra protein.. This is not typical and id guess that less than 2% of the placedls I eat cant figure this out... DC was not a place I'd think would be stuck. Won't be eating here again for this week's stay simply because I dont want to have to wrangle the meal each time ... I just would like to eat and go.. Thank you for figuring it out late at night This is more for management... you got good food and good folks.. fix your POS please.

I'm told the buffet is the fastest, I look down at the menu. No buffet even listed, I guess I'll never know what's included or the price. Server very kind, coffee very mediocre. Breakfast is the same.
