Biscoff Pancakes and the Not your Mama's Shrimp & Grits

Went to Mixxed DC for Saturday brunch with a party of six, and overall it was a great experience. First off, love that it's Black-owned and has a dope graffiti-style vibe inside. I was originally supposed to go in August, and they were super accommodating with rescheduling. We were seated right away and opted for the unlimited mimosa special ($50), which includes one entrée. Just a heads up: everyone at your table has to participate in the special to get it, which was a little frustrating since one of us doesn't drink. Thankfully, they made an exception and let him do unlimited mocktails so we could all still enjoy the deal. Since we had six people, they gave us three pitchers, and those mimosas were hittin! Highly recommend trying the peach flavor. We definitely left brunch very tipsy lol. For food, I had the Biscoff pancakes, which were rich and tasty--7/10. Only thing I'd change is how the cookie butter was only on the top pancake; I would've loved it layered throughout. They came with fresh fruit and I added a side of scrambled eggs. I also got to try the shrimp and grits which was definitely a standout! 9/10. So flavorful! We added a hookah to our experience (separate from food, around $40), and it was a fun touch. The DJ came in during the middle of our brunch and turned it up with 90s/2000s rap and R&B, had the whole place vibing. Service was great, staff was friendly and helpful the whole time. I'd absolutely recommend Mixxed for a fun brunch outing with friends. Just make sure your whole crew is ready for bottomless!

When you walk in , the space truly transforms and you forget you are in Adam's Morgan. The service is great! The young lady who took our orders was very friendly and knowledgeable about the food here. The food is bomb!!! I ordered the chop cheese and fries and it's good!!!! They also have hookah!

Stopped by on a Friday night for karaoke and was met with great service, amazing food that I can't wait to go back for, and a fun night! You could tell everyone that came was looking for good, safe, fun energy with people to match. Look forward to returning

Mixxed is a casual bar in Adams Morgan with really good HH specials. HH is Monday to Friday from 4-7 pm and they have food and drink options. I would recommend the smash burger and the 1/2 off don Julio frozen margaritas. I sat at the bar so the service was pretty quick but it seemed quick for the dining area as well. They have a lot of daily events and it's a good chill vibe .

Mixxed is such a fun spot in the DMV. Located on the strip that contains a number of great restaurants and shopping spots, Mixxed can be missed but shouldn't be. Our service was great. When we arrived it was mid day and very hot. Nevertheless our server was attentive and fun. I loved the games that customers can grab and play while they are waiting. They had a bottomless brunch that day but due to the heat we picked a much lighter fare of salad, smoothie and avocado toast. I can't wait to come back to Mixxed during my next stop in the DMV, hopefully this time when its cooler!

I went here for Halloween with my 14 and 5 year old. It was perfect because we sat in the restaurant portion, but had a lounge bar vibe complete with a very delicious mocktail drink for me (orange crush) and strawberry lemonade for the kids. The music was very night club live DJ vibes loud, but it was so much fun! The menu items looked great, so we will come back again to taste. I was so grateful to the server for allowing us to be in that space because I was not sure if I could even be in there with my kids. I danced wearing my day of the dead mask with my 5 year old and my teen had fun watching. We were all highly entertained by the music! Downstairs they had an anime party for grown ups, my daughter was dressed up as an anime character and my son was Blippie, which is how I found out about the event on eventbrite.

Came here because the bartender was doing a great job recruiting! Bar has games and bartender Steph knows how to make a good drink. I want to come back during like a happy hour and I didn't try to the food this time. The place is super cute though! Also has an upstairs and a downstairs!

It's exactly what you would expect NYers to bring to DC for better or for worse lol. I had a chopped cheese for the sake of nostalgia for my Brooklyn days. It was good. I won't front. It was like what you'd get from the bodega but with a restaurant price tag instead. The fries (sold separately) were hot and crispy. The margarita was like a watered down club drink that you'd get in any NY club so that was also authentic. I'm visiting this place at 1 in the afternoon on a Wednesday. The ambiance on the main level gives lounge vibes. Loud (not annoyingly loud) music plays a presorted dj mix complete with a little scratching and mixing. The interior mixes graffiti and an almost tacky over abundance of fake flowers and plants. If they had thrown one or two real ones in here by the window I wouldn't be hating so hard. Nevertheless, this place is a vibe...maybe not the vibe, but a vibe nevertheless.

I went to Mixxed DC for brunch on Sunday January 14th. Mixxed restaurant is two months old, it opened back in November of 2023, restaurant is black-owned as well as woman owned. The restaurant is in the historic Adams Morgan vibrant location. Upon, entering the restaurant you have to go upstairs to the restaurant from outside, and the restaurant door will be to your left. I didn't see an accessible way for someone that can't take the stairs to the restaurant. The restaurant is small, love the ambiance of place especially the restrooms that were clean. Saturdays and Sundays live DJ spinning. I ordered a smash burger that had only American cheese on it & ketchup, along with fries. My friend also ordered a smash burger as well along with mozzarella sticks. I would definitely come back to visit.

I realized with this visit that some brunch vibes are no longer for me. My college daughter and I wanted brunch, found this spot on social media and decided to try it out. It is likely great for those looking for a party atmosphere and loud music that causes you to yell across the table to be heard. Aesthetically, it's cute with all the popular decor for pics. The server/bartender was very nice. Our food didn't take long to arrive but it was definitely lukewarm at best. Unfortunate, because the flavors were good! My expresso martini looked heavy on the baileys but tasted delicious. The star of our meal was the beef patty bacon egg and cheese. It's hard to truly enjoy shrimp and grits that aren't hot but sending it back wasn't an option due to having to sit through the loud music and fans flapping from the party seated next to us. I wanted to love this place so bad but again that atmosphere is just not for me. If I order again it will be takeout.

It's a sexy basement vinyl den with additional outdoor seating, 10/10 unique cocktails, and incredible Japanese inspired small plates. Between two visits, we have tried 6 different drinks. They are named after songs and listed on the back of a fake vinyl cover. Each costs around $20, but with the mandatory tip and tax, it comes to around $26-28 per drink. The since I left you, though, is worth every penny. It is similar to an old fashioned but a little sweeter, with bourbon (makers mark), and while the menu says it also has miso, blackberry, cardamom, and cacao, I wouldn't say those flavors come through. But it is one of the best cocktails being served in DC right now. It is so good. They serve it with a cardamom tuile that is delicious as well. There is a lot of variety on here, but my number 2 is the Roses, a bright red gin based drink with a hint of fruitiness and a spicy kick in the back end. If you want something a little sweeter, the Takeover is a cognac based drink with coffee notes served with a mini donut. The food is exceptionally well seasoned and so flavorful. The fried chicken cannot be missed, and I love that you can get it in half or full size portions. The shrimp tempura might be even better. You get four large pieces that are super crisp and have a little orange sauce on them. Amazing. Our second visit we tried their chips and dip, and these potato chips alone are worth a visit. Large, crunchy, and served with a tasty ranch dip. I think 2 dishes is good for two people to fill you up, but add a third if hungry. The place is quite expensive, but they are worth it. For a date night, they are a great choice. Four drinks and three dishes shared between two people came to around $195, but as of this review, they are offering a $30 off deal if you pay through the app In Kind. Bonus points because the first time we came, they seated us maybe 5 minutes after our reservation time, and they gave us a free glass of cava. Top notch customer service right there

This bar is sweet -- awesome music, a neat menu, truly craft cocktails, and a unique menu. We tried several cocktails and each was delicious - from spicy to sweet, they don't miss. We also tried the cheese burger egg rolls and the tuna hand roll. The food is expensive for what you get but it's advertised to be small bites, not a meal. The egg rolls felt like remixed in n out, and as a Californian, I was grateful. Why not 5 stars? With the premium pricetag, I do expect premium service. The bartender was more interested in chatting with some folks he knew who came to sit at the bar. He also spent a lot of time chatting up the couple next to us, so do sit at the bar if you're feeling social. However, for the spare attention he did provide us, he was a bit condescending when we asked for a different glass for a drink that came in a bowl. It was slow until the very end of our stay and yet there were several times where I had an empty glass for a long period (and wanted to order more) or needed water. FYI for 6 drinks and a few bar bites it was $165... we went for a cheap burger dinner afterwards!

The drinks tasted watered down and unbalanced. The banana flavor in mine was dull and overripe rather than fresh and vibrant. There was urine on the floor, a strong foul odor, and the surface was slippery. For a speakeasy positioning itself as upscale, this was a major miss. The head of house asked about a reservation and my husband said he was hoping to get 1-2 drinks, bar spots were fine. He noticed a group of 4 girls waiting as well- he was then told the bar was full and the 2 open spots were not to be filled at the group of 4 had first dibs on them. This makes 0 sense because one person could have easily filled them but I digress. On top of that, when my husband asked what time they could potentially get him in, as he did not mind waiting, they told him 11:30PM.
