I stopped in Sulod on a Saturday evening. While it says "speakeasy" in the description it's not! This is a restaurant. It's upstairs from the Hall on H street . We sat at the bar, a cute space with graffit walls and about 15ish tables for dining, with a backdrop of R&B music it could be a vibe. The drink menu leaves some things to be desired... their take on some of the Filipino drinks from the previous restaurant possibly (I only tried the coffee/breakfast cafe). A few friends were there so I enjoyed myself but the bartender wasn't super personable and when I said the drink menu didn't speak to me there was no effort to see if we wanted something different. My friend and I ordered a prosecco. A few people were eating ... the food looked good (and they were moderately busy for a Saturday). It was cool to check it out I'm not sure if I would choose this as my destination to return.

What a VIBE! From walking into their entrance or H St Food Hall doors, It's the perfect place added to this eatery. Curated cocktails from some of the best bartenders in the city to the perfect mix of Caribbean cuisine and Asian- How could you really go wrong?! Staff is friendly and personable to make your experience top notch. Make sure you try the Ube Espresso Martini and the Suka Martini (just 2 of my personal go-tos). As I walked in thus last time there was a couple standing outside not sure where to go and I told them to at least check it out. They thanked me on their way out for recommending. CHECK IT OUT! AND DONT MISS Happy Hour weekly and Karaoke nights!

It is truly a marvel. The distillery does a great job at providing a great on-site bar experience, too. It is dim for a nice mood, always has a great playlist, and their cocktail list is always changing and always interesting. It is winter time, which means it's coquito time. La Famosa makes the world's best coquito, and it showcases C&R's rum nicely. If you want to keep it simpler, their rum old fashioned is delicious, too. They do not sell beer or wine, just rum, but with rum this good, who cares. They make a bunch of interesting, small batch rums throughout the year, and they work very well in cocktails, you will find something you like no matter what you like. They have been rocking at this spot for over nine years, now, so that really tells you something about their quality. They have earned a spot in the DC pantheon.

We loved the redbeard - it was refreshing and light, something I could drink by the pool all summer. The coconut rickey felt "healthy" and light as well and of course, the cocomotion was the star of the show. Bartenders were quick, and the space was trendy with clean restrooms. Overall good selection and we enjoyed all drinks we tried.

I think they take reservations but we were able to grab a bar spot. Are drinks pricey? What do you think? It's a cocktail bar in DC. The drinks we tried were pretty tasty, even the mezcal one which I thought was a refreshing take. The wall shows some of the drinks on the menu and the ingredients/glass it comes in which I thought was a nice touch. Bartenders were friendly but not too chatty as they were super busy but you never waited long for a drink. The bourbon drink with the whipped honey was our favorite but the gin drink that was pink was also fantastic. For food I did try the buffalo chicken dip, pretty large and tasty (not too spicy) and loved the super crisp celery and the fritos. Clean, trendy bathrooms, nice vibes throughout the whole spot for pictures, great for a night cap or pre-dinner drink.

They don't take revelations and the place fills up fast. It's a very cute spot and feels so comfortable and fun. Our bartender was Gaylan and he was great--had great reccs, laughed with us a bit, all around great guy. The 'let me just say this' was so soo good! It tasted like a rainbow--just bright and with a really delicious after taste. I should have stopped at the rose but after my trying my friend's, i had to have one! We initially came for happy hour, but moved to the cocktail menu. The hh was a bit limited, but the drinks were priced overall pretty reasonably for the area. My one complaint is the wine glasses were so teeny. Overall though, I would recommend this bar. Bonus: cheese balls when you sit down! I believe there is also a limited food menu (think nachos) for the after work or late night crowd.

I can tell you that a full meal is doable here even though it is mainly a bar. Given the tiny space and bar-only seating, it is not comfortable to stay too long, but we did enjoy the various dishes. We got everything on the menu except for the chip & the tomato dishes, ordered a drink each, and the bill came out to $175 (there is a 20% automatic gratuity, which the server pointed out to us). While we were there, we were the only ones to eat a full meal. We clocked an hour, while others didn't stay as long as we did. The confit duck leg was our least favorite dish; we didn't think the flavors worked well together. We really loved the pan de playa (crab sandwich)! Desserts were yummy. I had the most expensive drink at $22- Summers, Horses, Dreams. It was sweet, just how I like my drinks, but the glass seemed small. My husband had the Ni de aqui ni de alla, and he approved of it. There's a $10 per person deposit when booking reservations. The deposit goes toward your final bill, but you forfeit it if you're a no-show. They didn't have a phone number on their website (or Yelp or Google), so I was nervous when we were going to be late, but I was relieved they texted us when we were 15 minutes late to ask if we still planned to show.

Made a reservation perhaps 2 weeks ahead of time. When I arrived, I got escorted to my seat upstairs where it was a lot more quiet than the first floor. We got a friendly server who walked us through the entire food and drinks menu. I ended up getting the Run Bing with Nai Nai drink + the tamale + crab sandwich. While it took 20ish minutes to get what we ordered, I admired the interior. There's also a small bathroom on the first floor. When everything finally came, I devoured the food + highly enjoyed my drink. Probably a Top 10 cocktail I've ever had dare I say. I will highly recommend everyone to get my drink. The crab sandwich is also a major standout. If you ever want to think about coming here, be sure to book a reservation in advance!

Compliments to the chef and the entire kitchen team--each dish felt carefully composed and satisfying. Highlights for us included the oysters Rockefeller, shrimp toast, and a perfectly prepared crispy skin rockfish. The coconut rice is really something special. Even the desserts were memorable; the orange dreamsicle pie and chocolate pot de crème were a wonderful way to end the evening. The restaurant itself is charmingly decorated, with tables spaced comfortably apart so the dining room feels relaxed rather than crowded. Here's everything we enjoyed and didn't enjoy as much ... + IPA beer-- really delicious $6 + oyster rockefeller-- didn't really taste the oyster and they were tiny + fries--- not crispy enough and could use a little more flavor/salt + lamb chops-- also just ok, small and only had 2 pieces with a small salad +butter lettuce cesar-- meh, nothing to really rave about + smashburger-- 3/5 we were told that the locals rave about their smashburger as one of the best in town buttttt idk about all that lol. I think what I didn't really like was the onion on it. Overall I would give Primrose another try. I love the neighborhood, local feel. It was very busy in here when we stopped by. I would try more of their wines and a couple other items on the menu.
