Vegetable Omelet

The Diner in Adams Morgan is exactly what a neighborhood diner should be - consistently great food, served fast, by genuinely friendly people. The Diner is a humble local spot. The menu is smaller than your typical diner, but it hits all the highlights with some fun twist. With amazing prices and the kind of menu that covers all the classics. The ingredients are simple, but that's the beauty of it, fresh, satisfying, and reliably good every single time. You may wait a little for weekend brunch, but it's worthwhile. Service is quick without feeling rushed, and the staff makes you feel like a regular even if it's your first visit. Whether you're grabbing a casual breakfast, a late-night bite (open 24 hours), or just craving something comforting and familiar, this place delivers. In a city that's constantly chasing the next trend, The Diner stays true to what works--and does it really well. A true neighborhood gem.

Dirty silverware that was rolled up and provided for use

Must say I was extremely disappointed returning back here after quite some years ago when Adams Morgan used to be the place to be. After being seated for 10 minutes we had to wave down a server just to get water and order drinks. We then waited an additional 10-15 to put in food orders. I went to the bathroom and as I used the urinal, I looked up and saw black mold on the ceiling. The food took an additional 40 mins to come out to us. My food was actually cold when it came out, the garlic butter on my steak wasn't even melting. Unwrapped my silverware and it was dirty. The manager/owner on staff had a nasty attitude and was very dismissive. As excited as I was to return there, they lost their flair!

Way to go, The Diner staff! Things went much better with the service, the staff person I'd had issues with before was much more attentive and helpful. And they really made an effort to make my milkshake the right way and special. (I mean, they're not cheap, esp the boozy ones - about the price of some entrees, so their should be some effort and no scrimping on filling up the glass or giving any leftovers from the blender ;-) Also, the dining area wasn't insanely loud with music the last 2-3 times I was here.

Overall this was a great breakfast spot. We sat outside and enjoyed some fresh air which was extra nice because service is slow. I mean that about everything coffee, water, your silverware m, getting a menu that they didn't seat you with, the check and of course your food all come slowly. Food is solid. It's very basic but sometimes basic done well is what you need. I will say the home fries made not home fries as I know them. These were just unseasoned chopped potato wedges which is not home fries. Pancakes were just basic buttermilk cakes but again basic done well is good. My husband had the rancheros and they were on a tostada which he didn't love but it tasted fine.

Ponderosa Stomp Omelette

My coworkers and I ordered breakfast from here one day. I had the Ponderosa Stomp Omelette with grits and a cheddar-jalapeno biscuit. This place offered great value, as I got two meals out of what I ordered. The cheddar-jalapeno biscuit was an unexpected favorite. I had a little trouble with the online ordering system, but I called the restaurant, and they were able to fix the glitch.

My wife and I love diners and diner breakfasts are some of the best that you can get. We stopped here while in town for a conference in May and we really enjoyed our meal. Our omelets were very tasty and filling and they had very good breakfast potatoes, rye toast, and a side of fruit. Service was pretty good and it's a solid choice for breakfast. We'd definitely come back again the next time we're in town.

So, I didn't expect much when I walked in at 2:30 am, and the sign at the entrance read "Seat yourself." I was pleasantly surprised. My waitress (Candice) was PHENOMENAL!!! Personable, attentive, and has such a wonderfully pleasant disposition. After playing "musical chairs" for a minute (I was freezing), I settled on table "30" (I was solo). She took my order without issue. Make sure you're SPECIFIC with what you want on your burger. I was so focused on ensuring the temperature was understood, that I missed when she repeated my order back, that I didn't share which cheese I wanted. I must have mistakenly ordered a "burger," and not a "cheese burger." None the less, the temperature was perfect, and the food delicious. This will definitely be my "go to" after hours.

Took a seat on the patio on a Sunday morning. Was a great spot for the puppy to people watch and was a decent spot for breakfast. It was good, classic fare at decent prices with good service. I wouldn't say I'm dying to go back, but it hit all the right notes on the search for some good breakfast food. Had eggs Benedict which was decent in flavor and portion and my husband had the hash brown bowl. Both were good, but we weren't blown away. The corned beef hash was sorely missing some corned beef, but that was the only real low spot. Would be back if we're strolling in the neighborhood and want a brunchy bite, but probably wouldn't make it a destination.

Another DC favorite of ours nestled in the Adams Morgan neighborhood. We had not been in a while so this was on our must visit list for our quick trip to DC. I have to be honest we did have an issue with our order both of our orders came out wrong but to me things will happen but it is how the establishment handles it that makes for an amazing dining experience. The individual handling the kitchen orders was amazing. He promptly and quickly got our food remade and out to our table. The food was amazing, fresh, and hot. The bite of fresh toast was light and the best fresh toast I have had. We went for an early lunch and there was a good crowd but did not have to wait for a table which was nice and all in the timing as this place can get very crowded and very loud. Would recommend this for a casual dining experience in DC

I like that it is open 24/7. Their coffee is good but they cannot serve their gravy with non-pork grease.

The wall shows some of the drinks on the menu and the ingredients/glass it comes in which I thought was a nice touch. Bartenders were friendly but not too chatty as they were super busy but you never waited long for a drink. The bourbon drink with the whipped honey was our favorite but the gin drink that was pink was also fantastic. For food I did try the buffalo chicken dip, pretty large and tasty (not too spicy) and loved the super crisp celery and the fritos. Clean, trendy bathrooms, nice vibes throughout the whole spot for pictures, great for a night cap or pre-dinner drink.

Our bartender was Gaylan and he was great--had great reccs, laughed with us a bit, all around great guy. The 'let me just say this' was so soo good! It tasted like a rainbow--just bright and with a really delicious after taste. I should have stopped at the rose but after my trying my friend's, i had to have one! We initially came for happy hour, but moved to the cocktail menu. The hh was a bit limited, but the drinks were priced overall pretty reasonably for the area. My one complaint is the wine glasses were so teeny. Overall though, I would recommend this bar. Bonus: cheese balls when you sit down! I believe there is also a limited food menu (think nachos) for the after work or late night crowd.

The drinks tasted watered down and unbalanced. The banana flavor in mine was dull and overripe rather than fresh and vibrant. The smoke and fire presentation was nice, but the actual cocktails did not justify the $25 price point. The restroom was unacceptable. There was urine on the floor, a strong foul odor, and the surface was slippery. For a speakeasy positioning itself as upscale, this was a major miss. The space is very small and service was just okay. Overall, the concept has potential, but the execution did not meet expectations. I will not be returning.

It's a sexy basement vinyl den with additional outdoor seating, 10/10 unique cocktails, and incredible Japanese inspired small plates. Between two visits, we have tried 6 different drinks. They are named after songs and listed on the back of a fake vinyl cover. Each costs around $20, but with the mandatory tip and tax, it comes to around $26-28 per drink. The since I left you, though, is worth every penny. It is similar to an old fashioned but a little sweeter, with bourbon (makers mark), and while the menu says it also has miso, blackberry, cardamom, and cacao, I wouldn't say those flavors come through. But it is one of the best cocktails being served in DC right now. It is so good. They serve it with a cardamom tuile that is delicious as well. There is a lot of variety on here, but my number 2 is the Roses, a bright red gin based drink with a hint of fruitiness and a spicy kick in the back end. If you want something a little sweeter, the Takeover is a cognac based drink with coffee notes served with a mini donut. The food is exceptionally well seasoned and so flavorful. The fried chicken cannot be missed, and I love that you can get it in half or full size portions. The shrimp tempura might be even better. You get four large pieces that are super crisp and have a little orange sauce on them. Amazing. Our second visit we tried their chips and dip, and these potato chips alone are worth a visit. Large, crunchy, and served with a tasty ranch dip. I think 2 dishes is good for two people to fill you up, but add a third if hungry. The place is quite expensive, but they are worth it. For a date night, they are a great choice. Four drinks and three dishes shared between two people came to around $195, but as of this review, they are offering a $30 off deal if you pay through the app In Kind. Bonus points because the first time we came, they seated us maybe 5 minutes after our reservation time, and they gave us a free glass of cava. Top notch customer service right there

This bar is sweet -- awesome music, a neat menu, truly craft cocktails, and a unique menu. We tried several cocktails and each was delicious - from spicy to sweet, they don't miss. We also tried the cheese burger egg rolls and the tuna hand roll. The food is expensive for what you get but it's advertised to be small bites, not a meal. The egg rolls felt like remixed in n out, and as a Californian, I was grateful. Why not 5 stars? With the premium pricetag, I do expect premium service. The bartender was more interested in chatting with some folks he knew who came to sit at the bar. He also spent a lot of time chatting up the couple next to us, so do sit at the bar if you're feeling social. However, for the spare attention he did provide us, he was a bit condescending when we asked for a different glass for a drink that came in a bowl. It was slow until the very end of our stay and yet there were several times where I had an empty glass for a long period (and wanted to order more) or needed water. FYI for 6 drinks and a few bar bites it was $165... we went for a cheap burger dinner afterwards!
