    Cumin beef (spicy)
    Jill S.

This place has the best Chinese food in DC. I have only done carry out or delivery, but for about 15 years, this has been consistently very flavorful Szechuan food with large portions for the price. My favorite is the chicken fiery pot which has a lot of szechuan peppercorn flavor, chicken, cabbage, and other veggies. Their other vegetable and seafood dishes have all been great. If you want a simple good fried rice or egg drop soup, they've got that too, but szechuan food is where they shine.

Not bad! I had this delivered to my house so can't speak to the restaurant and cleanliness, but was underwhelmed with my two noodle bowls. One was their recommended Dan Dan spicy noodles but they came as just plain and dry noodles? I also got the combo lo mein which can never go wrong but nothing terribly noteworthy about this one.

I didn't eat in the restaurant, ordered online and got it as delivery and I was SHOOK at how good this was. It was delivered piping hot, meaning they turned this food around immediately and props to the delivery driver as well! I had an inkling by looking at the menu that this would be pretty decent as it had more authentic items on the menu rather than American Chinese (no knock, a place and time for all things!!) and I was right. The cumin beef was delicious, spiced and tender. The eggplant had phenomenal flavor and the noodles had a delicious wok kiss of smokiness from the high heat. It is cooked generously in oil, but doesn't come across as greasy...but if you're not eating this every day it won't hurt you. This place was great and I will for sure be eating again!

We came here for family & friends gathering! Very surprise, everything turned out so good! Very close to real Sichuan ones we had in China! We will return again!!

I learned about this place through a local group and decided to give it a try. I have since eaten here multiple times, enjoying each and every one. The double cooked fish is to die for!! The portion size is fair for the price. When I order takeout, it's usually ready by the time I arrive at the restaurant, which is about 10 mins from my house. The couple of time I've eaten inside, the service was just ok. The inside of the restaurant looks like it hasn't changed in years, but it's not terrible. I think I just much prefer them for takeout because the service isn't great enough to warrant the experience. However, it's one of my top choices for takeout on a Friday night. Authentic cuisine, consistent quality, fair prices - what's not to love?

This place looks so suspicious on the outside but it was charming inside. We came on a Saturday for late lunch after spending a day at the arboretum and they were very understaffed but thankfully there weren't that many customers. Service isn't the best but they get the job done. This restaurant has some of the best authentic chinese food that I've had in DC, it's just a bit out of the way location-wise. In terms of food: - ***rougamo - a MUST! super crispy bun with juicy, fatty, and flavorful pork inside - **garlic stir fried green beans - I get this at every Chinese restaurant I go to and I was very satisfied with this one - *mapo tofu - this has legit Sichuan peppercorns in it and is deeply flavorful. I was sweating by the end - black pepper and salt calamari - I like the flavor and the crispy outside but I think I'll get the ribs or shrimp version of this next time - Singapore rice noodles - very flavorful and yummy; good as a carb side but not a must order - pickle and fish soup - this was a little too pickle-y for my liking. It was veryyy sour and salty - egg yolk custard buns - these were dry and not as yolky as I'd like; definitely pass on this

General Tsos Shrimp with fried rice.

I was just in search for some good food and remember this place from back in the day. I wanted it last Friday and called and there lunch special time was over @2 so I missed out. Was able to get it today General tso shrimp, nice size shrimp but only a few in a small container. With plan fried rice. It was decent.

Rumor has it that Xi Jing Ping visits this restaurant when he comes to Washington DC, so that means this place must be legit right? RIGHT!! I didn't think much of it for a long time since it sorta looked like another takeout place that serves the local hotels, but my god, this place is delicious! It's such good Sichuan Cuisine, it's got me coming back again and again! Get the map tofu and the wood ear mushrooms and you won't regret it. I want to learn to copy these flavors, but perhaps their wok is just so seasoned, it's impossible.

The challenge of the menu is its size: it includes old school standards that your father may have ordered, yet has some much more interesting and tongue-tingling szechuan options also. So it behooves the diner to take time to read through thr long menu carefully and to order selectively. Service is efficient and special requests are handled with grace, rather than the eye rolling of their peers. We first ordered crispy beef, which wws well executed with the beef shreds still juicy despite their crackle coating. The sauce had a mild bit of chili heat and subtle sweetness, and was generously salted with a medley of julienned veggies. Our second dish was General Tao Chicken, which is more commonly known as General Tso. It was again, a very well executed version of what has become a popular classic, with perfectly coated and fried nuggets of tender chicken breastfeeding in a sweet and spicy sauce served with broccoli and chili peppers. Sichuan Pavilion is very snug, amd something of a "rabbit warren" with a series of rooms connected by tight pathways. Tables can be small, so try to book in advance. Also, some of the best dishes are the more traditional szechuan style, do take the time to ask your server about them and be prepared for some heat.

Stopped here because of the ratings and the cleanliness ratings on Yelp. I met a few Neighborhood patrons. I love DC. I love the culture. One had to search for the steak in the sea of gravy and onions. In general, both shrimp fried rice and peppered steak were very skimpy with respect to the main ingredients-shrimp and steak. The wait for the order was the best take away. The carry out needs a face lift to make it more inviting. The Carryout is along a strip of other small food business and vacant storefront buildings. The kicker is the business does not take credit cards- accepts cash only. What a bummer!
