It is so sad to see a classic close down. Huge fan of the tables they have set up across the restaurant. We had a group of 11 and we were seated quickly and our table had a lazy Susan which made the dining experience so enjoyable. The menu was expansive and easily the largest i have seen. The food was great!

Sad to see them close. Ordered takeout from here for the last time... fried rice was great , general tso's, and the roast duck.

The food is always good. The service is always great! They are able to host larger parties. It was kind of loud because there was 2 large parties. But I love this place. Especially during the day because the dim sum menu is much larger!

Dimsum in DC I believe it could be a lot better Siu mai is the only good dish. Ha gar was okay Chicken feet and duck were super salty that I couldn't finish Xiao long bao was not good at all 3 stars for the service which they were friendly and nice The store was typical Chinese restaurant style. Overall I wouldn't come back

I had no intention on getting this today and I'm so happy that I did! I got the special fried rice and the Peking duck and everything was so amazing! The rice is a seafood fried rice with shrimp, and scallops. So good! The location is nice and clean with plenty of seating, they also have a full bar, and the staff were very friendly. My food came out very quickly and it was so fresh! Can't wait to revisit because they have a huge menu and I love Asian cuisine. Street parking, make sure to pay because the meter maid was out.

I love dim sum, and I was so happy to find that this place has a wonderful selection. I ordered several dishes and loved them all. I think my favorite was the shumai, but the crab balls were fantastic, as well. The staff were polite and friendly. The food came out quickly. This place is good for lunch, for small and large groups (there's a lot of space in the restaurant). The menu is very large (there are so many choices besides the dim sum). If I'm in the area again, I will definitely eat here again.

MUST-VISIT dim sum spot in DC! Everything is ordered from the menu rather than carts, and every dish comes out hot and fresh. The service is fantastic, and we will most definitely be back!

I was told by my daughter, who grew up going to authentic Dim Sum lunches for Sunday lunch , that this place was legit! So I called in a Togo order for my lunch while visiting Sunday. The order was done faster than I could get there 8 blocks away. Packed well and when I asked for chili sauce and other condiments they were right on it. I was served by mom from China and her American daughter. I liked chatting with them as the daughter was sweet and our translator. The win ton soup was a smaller size than I wanted to order but prefect for a one or two person share item. Just order more if you want family size as it's only $4.95! Wrappers were thicker than I and my daughters use but it was still pretty good and tasty. The hargow, shu Mai, and such really standard quality. And the bean curd rolls fantastic with a great thick gravy. Priced pretty good I think as things seem a dollar or two per item than in the Seattle area Legit! I'm not saying it's the best ever but very good and I'd go back in a minute! I've seen other reviews stating best Chinese in DC and that might not be a bad analysis? I'd like to try there other entire dishes and such before I'd say that but from what I've had over the last 5 years there it's possible. I have noticed that non fusion, authentic Asian cuisine is getting better again with new choices in the District. Why would you buy food out of a dirty corner hole in a wall when you could go into a clean, real restaurant with quality food and kind service?

We love dim sum, so this place seemed like it was right up our alley. They had a great selection of standard dim sum menu selections, so we chose some of our favorites. They were good, but we've definitely had better.

    Renee D.

Came for dim sum, but the Char Siu had main character energy -- glossy, juicy, and generous. Chinese broccoli, sticky rice in lotus leaf, and shu mai were all delicious like they knew their supporting roles. The BBQ pork bun was a little too sweet for my taste, but hey, every cast has one quirky character. Washed it all down with a brut rosé because dim sum deserves bubbles. And shoutout to Aiven, our waiter was absolutely amazing service from start to finish!

This meal is too fatty to be consumed. According to the manager, "the beef stew (here) is always like this."
    Xian L.

The male manager told us that all of their beef stew with rice is supposed to be fatty, as shown in the photo, which gave me the impression that they do not use good-quality beef. When we asked for an additional table, the female manager responded, "You should be better prepared next time." I found that comment rude and inappropriate, and I told her so directly. The food itself was acceptable but significantly overpriced. More concerning was the staff's overall attitude, which felt dismissive and demeaning--particularly toward Asian customers who speak Mandarin Chinese. Based on this experience, I will not be returning.

Is dim sum available every day?

Yes! But note the dinner dim sum menu has less items than the daytime dim sum.

Is this restaurant opened now for dining? This place had the best Dim Sum in the DMV area. Hope it's still the case!

Yes, thankfully! We were there 3 weeks ago :)

Are they open today? NYE 2020

    Do they take reservations?

They do not as of April 2022

    Do they deliver?

    Yes

For dim sum, how expensive is it usually per person? I know that it would depend on the dishes you order and the number of people, but for a party of 8, what can I expect? I tried to find a menu online to gauge it but couldn't find one.

Really depends but typically assume between 4 and 9 give or take per dish. Including drinks for two ( I mean four drinks) we've paid 60. Without per person assume 20 bucks a head.

Is the dim sum to order or is it carts?

Food serve on carts. If you wanted a specific item, I believe you could ask for it and it would be brought to you. Really excellent choice and variety.

If I want to get dim sum for dinner, around 5, will they serve that here?

I don't think they serve dim sum by cart around that time but definitely you can ask if you can order from the dim sum menu.

I'm very allergic to shrimp. Is it easy to avoid it?

there are plenty of dishes without shrimp. just ask the waitress.

Is it possible dim sum for dinner?

They offer a dim sum platter but they don't do full dim sum like they do for lunch I believe

    Are there gluten free options?

So I called them and the lady I spoke to claims they do not have gluten free option in their Dimsum. What they suggest is to order their regular menu and request changes in the ingredients as you order. Hope this helps.

Is dim sum on Sundays here or is it available every day?

Dim Sum Every day. From 10 to 3 sharp

Tucked into the heart of Dupont Circle with its unmistakable bright blue awning, the restaurant is intimate, moody, and always buzzing. It's not a huge space, which only adds to its charm and makes every reservation feel like a win. The atmosphere is perfect for sharing dishes and lingering over dinner with friends. The food was incredible...I genuinely loved every single bite. Just be prepared: the Sichuan spice is no joke! If you aren't expecting it, it'll definitely sneak up on you (in the best way). Inside had small tables and a kinda casual cocktail bar vibe Beef Noodles - the highlight and actually very good! The noodles are long and handmade and chewy. They hold onto the sauce very well! The sauce has a slight kick and is very savory. The beef is soft and also flavorful! I feel the price for the portion is kinda expensive though 8/10 Chili wontons - skin is silky and soft, sauce is savory with a small kick as well! Even though the sauces look similar to beef noodle they taste very different. The fillings had good flavor and overall were good but were a bit tougher and dryer than I would prefer. 6/10 Crab fried rice - crab is slightly overcooked but naturally sweet. It has a light curry taste throughout and was pretty good but didn't really stand out 5.5/10 Mapo tofu - slight kick and nice savory taste in the sauce! However I think they cut the tofu pieces way too large or the tofu they chose had way too much tofu flavor that overpowers the sauce. I'd prefer a very light silky tofu but this was a soft tofu. 6/10 Vpod - at first it just tasted like orange juice but then the other flavors peek through on the after taste and when I mixed it more. Even though it was good, it still felt very basic 5/10 Philadelphia Scotsman - it's pretty ginger forward. Technically the level of ginger spice is fine but strong but then the rest of the drink got completely overpowered and so this just wasn't that great 2.5/10

The challenge of the menu is its size: it includes old school standards that your father may have ordered, yet has some much more interesting and tongue-tingling szechuan options also. So it behooves the diner to take time to read through thr long menu carefully and to order selectively. Service is efficient and special requests are handled with grace, rather than the eye rolling of their peers. We first ordered crispy beef, which wws well executed with the beef shreds still juicy despite their crackle coating. The sauce had a mild bit of chili heat and subtle sweetness, and was generously salted with a medley of julienned veggies. Our second dish was General Tao Chicken, which is more commonly known as General Tso. It was again, a very well executed version of what has become a popular classic, with perfectly coated and fried nuggets of tender chicken breastfeeding in a sweet and spicy sauce served with broccoli and chili peppers. Sichuan Pavilion is very snug, amd something of a "rabbit warren" with a series of rooms connected by tight pathways. Tables can be small, so try to book in advance. Also, some of the best dishes are the more traditional szechuan style, do take the time to ask your server about them and be prepared for some heat.

So, pretty much pulled a name out of a hat and would up at Chuan Tian Xia because, well, Szechuan cooking uses chiles, no? Yesssss! I ordered Signature Dumplings and a bowl of Beijing-style Beijing-style Zhajiang Noodles. The dumplings were outstanding: a mix of shrimp, pork, and chive that were plump, juicy, fragrant with the herbaceous flavor of chives. The accompanying sauce was not too sweet, not too hot, just right as a complement to the dumplings. Yowza. I was a happy camper... ...and then I dug into my noodles. Double yowza! Thick wheat noodles topped with a rich sauce made from (I think) fermented soybean paste and braised pork belly, garnished with cucumbers. The portion was way to big for me to eat after my flight, but I really, really enjoyed it (and the remaining dumplings) for lunch today. Did I say yowza? I'm an adventurous eater so the menu's less Americanized items were what I would have ordered given more time (like Maoxuewang: can you say "pig's tongue, spam, pork intestine, and beef tripe"? However, my opinion changed when my wife and I dined in the restaurant for the first time. It will not be our last. What drove me to dine in was the ambience I observed when I picked up a previous takeout order. It was a really nice place, with neat décor, plenty of seating, and a serving staff that was obviously attentive. This remained my impression when we came here for the first time recently. Contrary to our takeout orders, the food blew us away when it was fresh from the kitchen. Perhaps this was because we ordered different things, or perhaps because what we ordered to-go (e.g., fried eggplant, Szechuan chicken) did not travel well. Whatever the case, but this was some of the best Chinese food we have eaten in a long time. For appetizers we ordered the puffy scallion pancake, which was fun to tear and share, and came with some very nice curry sauce or dipping. We also ordered the pork soup dumplings, which were everything you could want in a soup dumpling - piping hot with a warm, soul-soothing broth inside (but which does not travel particularly well in takeout orders). For our entrees, my wife ordered the duck fried rice. I am not the biggest fan of fried rice, but this was some of the best I ever had. The duck favor was prominent but not overwhelming and the pineapple was the best integrated I have ever experienced in a savory dish. I had leftover for lunch today and it was still quite good. I ordered the fish in chili oil, a bubbling, soupy dish covered in peppers. This was phenomenal, an excellent balance of heat, numbing, and flavor. And there was plenty of fish in the dish, as well. I will be hard pressed not to order this every time we come here in the future. We split the fried green beans (solid - crisp and well spiced), which I ate for breakfast over rice with some of the leftover fish. Again, it was still good. As my previous comments imply, serving sizes are large.
