I had a good takeout experience at the H Street - Chinatown location of Dumpling District. They serve authentic homemade dumplings, dim sum, traditional Shanghainese cuisine, and Szechuan specialties. They specialize in a variety of dumplings, including soup, steamed, and fried dumplings, as well as shumai. You can also find traditional appetizers, rice and noodle dishes, and your favorite American Chinese style dishes such as General Tso's chicken, sesame chicken, orange chicken, and your common variety of broccoli and brown sauce. The customer service was good. Overall a good experience. I hope to dine in next time.

Pork chop over rice.

Located in a football. Ordering occurs at the two digital display stations in the middle of the hall. There happens to be a bar, dessert place, TKK, Kung fu tea, poke ninja ramen, Yasmine's ramen, as well as district dumpling located here. Ample seating with K-pop playing overhead. We selected district dumpling looking for dim sum. They have dumplings and soup dumplings, but my wife pulled an audible and wanted the pork chop over rice and scallions instead. Not very impressed with either despite this place getting 3.9 stars. Scallion pancake seemed deep fried and extremely crispy which some may enjoy. But a little too crispy for me and very little scallion. The pork chop had a weird oily taste. Ask for their vinegar which will make it taste okay. The rice was very hard which is uncharacteristic for this short grain type rice. Service was very quick. Bathrooms located in basement had a funky smell.

Food was pretty good, hall can be hot. We were here at 7 pm on a Wednesday in July and the food hall was quite warm. Soup dumplings aren't really a meal you take to go though so we decided to stick it out. We got lucky and snagged a table. There aren't a ton, but there were more throughout the evening. What's odd is there was a police person at the door at 7 pm but not at 8 pm when we left. The bathrooms do require a code to get in which is at the bottom of your receipt. Bring water, because dumpling district does not provide free cups of water. You can order at the touch pad or the cashier. It is made fresh so it takes a little while. We got beef stir fry, chicken soup dumplings and a side of white rice (for my son). My husband said it's the best dumplings he's ever tasted. I thought they were solid. I don't get soup dumplings a lot so I'm not well versed, but I liked them. The stir fry was also quite good, not a ton of beef, but what I'd expect for $2 extra. Overall I like this place and would come back.

Mad food poisoning :( got the rainbow soup dumplings and the pork bao buns. Very sad. My friend liked her food and mine tasted good but six hours later I was in the worst pain I've experienced from food poisoning

I was craving Chinese and thought I would come here as it's very close to me and the menu seemed intriguing, but I was really disappointed. I came in the early afternoon and basically half the menu was unavailable. This was not written anywhere though, so it was just an awkward game of ordering and being told one by one what was sold out, which made for a long and drawn out ordering process. I then ordered the cucumber salad and the cashier told me they don't have that here, until I pointed it out on the menu on the wall behind him. When they turned the iPad around for me to pay, I was grossed out because it had greasy fingerprints all over it and needed to be cleaned. I should have left, but I'm a fool so I paid and waited for my food, which did not impress me. You can tell the dumplings are from a factory and are frozen because of the pleats. The sheng jian bao wrapper, which is normally supposed to be fluffy and bread like, was thin and chewy. The flavor wasn't anything to write home about either. The cucumber salad was coated in oil and thus none of the dressing adhered to the cucumber, making it just bland and greasy. Definitely won't be coming again. Food, service, and cleanliness all need a lot of work.

Inside Luna Food Hall in Chinatown. It's like food court in the mall. We ordered rainbow soup dumplings. Juice, soupy and great taste. We loved every dumpling.

The pan fried dumpling was so good! The shrimp and pork dumpling was also good but it was definitely more chives and pork than shrimp. The location was in this little food hall in Chinatown and it was a nice escape from the heat. Service was fast and you order on an iPad. Definitely hit the spot after walking around DC all day.

Easy ordering and plenty of seating. Nice looking place with a cool upbeat decor. The place can use a cleaning as tables, floors, windows and bathroom are dirty. Staff not very pleasant when ordering. Soup dumpling very good. Cucumber salad very good. Scallion pancake was okay. Wonton soup was good. Wontons very good. Good value. Seafood noodle soup not good. Broth under developed and seasoned. Noodles below average. Tiny tasteless seafood. Overpriced for that quality. Not a very good food spot but works in a pinch.

Home to the best soup dumplings DC has ever seen! I was a little dubious when I saw Dumpling District nestled in the back corner of Luna Hall when I first visited the food hall, but...wow. I'm so happy I decided to give it a shot. The soup dumplings are phenomenal -- they have a genuinely impressive amount of soup inside, and their soup is also absolutely packed with flavor. The skin is quite thin and has a slight chew, which makes them a wonderful eating experience, but also a mildly embarrassing test of my chopsticks skills. Dumpling District is also one of the only places I've seen do a purely pescatarian soup dumpling; their shrimp and zucchini filling has genuinely changed my life and helped me recover from years of sadly watching as my friends devoured their pork soup dumplings without me. While their soup dumplings are absolutely elite, their other menu offerings are a tad less exciting. I also tried their stir-fried rice cakes, which, while tasty, didn't have a ton of seasoning and honestly felt like something I could throw together in 15 minutes back home (not that there's anything wrong with homestyle cooking...it just wasn't really worth $15). I'll absolutely be back, but will probably keep it to just the soup dumplings.

This location is inside a food court with lots of other restaurant options. You order at a kiosk and they'll call your number when it's ready. Little interaction with any staff so can't comment on the service. Plenty of seating unless it gets busy, which it did pick up after we were done. All of the dishes we had were pretty good for a food hall stand. The rainbow dumpling gave us options to try all of the flavors - my least favorite was the mala, then chicken, but the rest were good. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the rice cakes since it had a good flavor and texture to them. Scallion pancakes were flakier than I've had at other locations but we enjoyed that. Cucumber salad was refreshing palette cleanser. Would return again if we're ever in the area again and want options!

We had a great experience here! The staff member who took our order was helpful and quick and our order was ready in a timely manner. The Dumpling District is in the middle of a food court and there was tons of seating to choose from. The room was well-lit and noise was manageable! All of our food turned out great -- from our chicken fried rice to our stir fry noodles and our soup dumplings and spring rolls! We loved it all.

I have seen these dumplings pop up in my feed many times and knew I had to try them. My buddy and I rode our bikes into Chinatown and stopped by for a little snack. The dough was a bit thicker than I would like but the filling and taste was great! It came with a pork, crab and pork, chicken, shrimp and zucchini, mala and black truffle flavors. It was hard to choose, but my favorite was the black truffle! These are not your traditional soup dumplings and definitely on the pricey side, but they were definitely tasty!

This is inside Luna hall. A food hall in Chinatown. It's quite small and empty. It's actually really cold in here. The bathroom is dirty and smelly. The dumplings were not the best and this is basing off of ding tai fung being the best. The dough didn't taste fresh. It was soupy but I've rainbow specialty dumpling and it doesn't come close to it. The only one I really liked is pork. I wouldn't come here.

Decent dumpling shop inside Luna Hall. More vegetarian options would be good but what we had that we could eat was good.

Han Palace is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in DC, and there are two main reasons why:…read morethe portions and the drinks. First, the food portions here are astronomical. I ordered the Singapore noodles, which were packed with flavor and loaded with beef, chicken, and shrimp. The portion was so big that it honestly could be split between two people. I barely put a dent in it while I was there and ended up taking most of it home and eating off it for a while afterward. But the real showstopper is the bottomless drinks. For $18, you get bottomless Mai Tais, lemon drops, and mimosas, and the best part is they do it all day, not just during brunch hours. You can pull up at 7 p.m., get dinner, and still do bottomless drinks, which is something you don't see very often. Between the massive portions, the flavor, and the all-day bottomless option, Han Palace is an easy five out of five for me. If you're in DC and haven't been here yet, this is a must-go spot.

This is a much needed addition to the Connecticut Ave corridor which lacks authentic Chinese restaurants and especially Dim Sum (brunch small plates). I hope that there are more choices like this in the near future for this surrounding area which lacks good traditional Chinese restaurants. The parking can be daunting since it still is in DC, might have a bit of a walk but that is everywhere in DC. The food was fast and had some unique choices that are not on a standard menu.

Let's start with the DD, I usually get the soup dumplings I love the Chicken Soup ones especially but the Pork and Spicy Pork rule too. It's a shame that those are the only soup dumpling flavors though. I also tried the sliced marinated steak yesterday and was disappointed. It was way too thin and way too chewy. Felt annoyed as I spent $12 on it. My friend ordered the veggie dumplings and she said they're ok but lacked seasoning and after I gave them a try, I was inclined to agree. Now let's discuss brunch. The menu is pictured below and $1 mimosas or add $5 onto your AYCE brunch for unlimited non-alcoholic drinks. Not a bad deal. The AYCE menu was five I was a bit underwhelmed especially since most of what I ordered with the exception of the Bao and the braised pork over rice were great. Everything else lacked seasoning. Also a major downside that the soup dumplings aren't an option. The interior is lovelely. If you have a big party with you they'll sit you in this nice and spacious booth in the back its intimate and private and allows your group to really engage in conversation. Service was good though we ran into an issue at least 3 times to my count where they kept bringing stuff we never ordered.

My friend is craving dim sum after being in the country, visiting from Hong Kong for 3 weeks. My friend is quite tan, his mom is Filipino, but he grew up in HK and speaks mostly canto and Tagalog. We tried speaking Cantonese to the staff who are speaking it to each other, so they clearly can. My friend has perfect Cantonese. Mine is ok but I am also very clearly Chinese. They replied in broken English instead. One waitress looked at my friend and handed us forks. So clearly, some racism/colorism in the staff. Context: lots of Filipinos in HK are maids and generally looked down on, so not surprised this happened here. The food was mushy and gross. The shrimp in the cheung fan was grayish. It felt like they had this ready early in the morning and reheated it for later. Siu mai was falling apart. Cha siu bao was good but how do you mess that one up? I've gotten take out from this place before in the past and I always forget why I try to not come here, they forget something every time. At this point I'm sure they're doing it on purpose, like little thieves. Anyway, this place has the advantage of being close, with so little dim sum options in the area, unless you want to make the trip to Tysons or Vienna. Or Maryland. One staff member was laying down on a bunch of chairs nearby loudly watching something on her phone. Any other day, I wouldn't complain about that, everyone deserves a break. But given the food quality and the clear racism in the staff, they should be called out for everything. As with any Asian restaurant, feel free to treat me like trash if the food is good. But this place fails in both places.
