Came here on a Monday at 2PM, an hour before they closed for the afternoon break. The only other patron was a teenager wrapping up their meal. We sat down and ordered. They were out of mango with sticky rice, unfortunately. The food: Kra Prow with Chicken - ingredients were well cooked (not tough), but the dish was mildly flavored. We added some of the side spices to amp it up. Tom Yum Fried Rice Crispy Chicken - the chicken was a little like katsu, lightly pounded as it was quite thick, breaded and served with a sweet chili sauce. The rice didn't seem like fried rice and also didn't remind me much like Tom Yum - a little savory but not much sour or spicy. Chicken Satay - not sure if it was the type of meat used, but this was a bit dry and didn't have much sear. Pad Thai - the waiter forgot to get us peanuts for this dish so we asked for that. Usually, this comes with a lime, but we didn't get that. Pad Thai is usually sweet, salty/fishy, tangy, and just has a lot of stuff going on. We found this version to be pretty bland. I love a good pun, so I really wanted to like this restaurant. Unfortunately, between the cook of some dishes, the mild flavors from others, nothing really having sear or wok flavor - this wasn't a good experience. This restaurant is downstairs and easy to miss but there is a street sign. The restaurant could use a little renovation but it is quiet and feels a bit like "home". The food comes out quickly even when it is busy. The owner and servers are very welcoming and attentive. The amount of food you get for the price is remarkable. The Vegetable Spring Rolls were a good appetizer to get us ready for the main course. Pineapple Fried Rice has a combination of Chicken and Shrimp and they are generous with what they put in the Fried Rice. The Crispy Chicken could have used a bit more flavor with the sauce along with being a bit more "crunchy/fried". We will be back soon. read more

If you're looking for a no frills experience, I'd recommend it! We (3) stopped by around 6:30 on a Friday and it wasn't too busy so snagging a table was easy. We tried a little of everything - an appetizer, a noodle dish, a curry, and a protein. We split the spring rolls and they're quite small, but served very, very hot (in a cute lil basket, to boot!) and they tasted delicious. Personally, I had the pad see ew with chicken. This dish was fresh, of a fair size, and beautifully arranged with perfect ratio of protein: noodle: vegetable. I wish it had Chinese broccoli but it was still a hit! One of a handful of Thai spots in Woodley Park, Thai and Time Again is definitely a more budget-friendly option and delivers a good value. It's a very colorful and highly decorated space in a half-basement, veering more toward the kitschy than the elegant. We came for a late lunch, were seated promptly, and were presented with the expansive menu. We went for two soups (the tom yum and the tom kha), a papaya salad, a chicken satay, and the tofu pad thai. Portions are generous, and the soups had a lot of veggies and tofu in them. The papaya salad wasn't as funky as I usually like it but was definitely flavorful and fresh. The chicken satay was quite tender considering it was chicken breast, with a good peanut sauce. Pad thai was solid--could've been more tangy to be more authentic, though. Overall a solid lunch, and if you're looking for a good value in the area, definitely worth a visit or ordering takeout. read more

An adorable little restaurant not too far from the National Zoo and a very short walk from Woodley Park-Zoo Metro station. My main reason for writing this review is to highlight the Thai Tea they have. Hands down the best Thai Tea I've found in the DMV. Bonus points for being less than five dollars for a large cup and for the adorable emoji like covers for the top of the cup. Anytime I'm in the area, I will pop in, even if it's just for a drink... I mean even if I've already eaten someplace else (admittedly there are a lot of great places to eat in that area), I will still at least get a Thai Tea here. A great new Thai restaurant in Woodley Park! The staff are super nice, and the restaurant is very cute. I was very impressed with the flavor of all of the dishes! The Tom Yum soup was the perfect umami dish for a cold and rainy day. The drunken noodles were cooked to perfection, and the Kai Yang Namtok had a great spicy kick with some nice grilled chicken thigh as well. I thought the food was definitely a little on the pricier side, especially the Kai Yang Namtok, but the flavors were perfect. I got sick after eating here. I have celiac, and many things on this menu are labeled gluten free. When asking them if the item that I was ordering was gluten free, they reassured me that it was. I went after just a couple of weeks of opening, and the service wasn't the best (one of our dishes was delayed, water took a long time to get refilled, etc.) but I'm sure they were still working out the system. This was a great Yelp find. I was craving Drunken Noodles with a lot of veggies, and reviews led me straight here. This dish had fresh green beans, red & green peppers, onions & tomatoes in a mildly spicy sauce. I added chicken, which was juicy and cooked to perfection. And I'm Ye noodles were obviously homemade; they were very silky and fresh. The portion was large enough to share. My Thai tea was also yummy. The servers were very attentive. First of all, I love the city vibe in Woodley Park. Bodegas, small unusual boutiques, incredible townhouse architecture from a century ago, and an international flair created by restaurants like Thai and Time Again. There is an amazing energy, yet a neighborhood ambiance full of it's residents, walking in groups or alone with or without their dogs, all with an easy going tolerance of the hustle bustle. Just across the Calvert Street bridge next to CVS on Calvert Street is the best Thai food since my "go to" place in Arlington, Va., closed. The food here is the real deal, as the award winning Thai chef owner, Nui and her husband Kevin, made sure to bring authenticity to their lengthy menu. There is lots to choose from, each dish very tantalizing, and their seasoning is wonderfully delicate yet has that well known zing. Located in a very cool, intimate space, freshly remodeled, even with a fireplace, spotless and inviting! Down a couple of steps and into the restaurant you find yourself in Thailand, in a small brightly lit and colorfully decorated place, that you may have stopped into while seeing the sights. There are tables and chairs spaced comfortably apart and a nice new bar. There is a custodial feel to the service, a sincere feeling that they really care if you are happy. Last night the place was full, and among the patrons was a group of Italian tourists, that had made their way here to eat, for the second time. I was shamelessly eavesdropping, and I couldn't help but think, wow, they were coming from Rome and Sardinia, to eat here! My selection last night was the Gai Yang Nam Tok, and only wish I could have had a larger stomach, to order a second plate. It was amazing!!! Mouthwatering seasoning on the tender chicken chunks accompanied sticky rice, a yummy sprout salad with a touch of cilantro, and the surprise of the occasional peanut...it was the perfect balance. Not sure if there are many places in DC that offer such a good value, but for the level of talent in the kitchen, I would have expected to pay double what I paid. Don't miss the mango sticky rice dessert..., but alas, I would recommend dishes but quite frankly I haven't had a bad meal here. The mango sticky rice is the only reason I'm giving this place 3 stars. Not all Thai food is created equal. Coming from Chicago and loving Thai food I was thoroughly disappointed. I read they've been open for about 6 months and with the lack of service, I received and observed I'm not sure how long they'll last. It's a quaint step-down restaurant located in a great spot in Woodley Park. There were two fair-sized parties (4 or more) and a couple when I walked in. There was no staff at the bar/counter so I sat and waited to be seated. Once seated I noticed all the parties had to ask for their checks and to-go boxes. I placed my order. Food came in a timely fashion and was barely room temperature . A big no-no for me. I was under a time constraint so I just rolled with it. I ordered Pad Prik Sod with chicken and rice noodles instead of rice. The noodles were piping hot so I mixed the two, which was the plan anyway. The flavor profile was basic at best and I specifically asked for mild spice. That said I asked for the signature spicy red sauce true Thai eaters know and love. I was brought out a carousel of options, none of which I requested, and was asked "is this what you're talking about?" I said no, but I'll try it. I'm all for trying new things. I used what looked like finely ground red pepper flakes. Not what I wanted, but did the trick. I had to ask for every little thing because the server NEVER came back to check and see if I had any additional needs. Besides the sauce, I asked for napkins, a to-go box, and the check. The tip I gave was because their mango sticky rice was the best I've ever eaten in my life I would strongly advise the owners to train their staff in customer service 101 and work on serving fresh hot food. I literally would only return for the dessert and that would be a carry-out order. I'll chalk this up as growing pains for them and hopefully, future visits would be better. read more

The service was excellent despite what looked like an unexpected rush. Food arrived fresh from the wok and fryer. The food was outstanding! I had the Tom Yum Fried Rice with shrimp. Great flavors, fresh shrimp, and a "medium spicy" sauce that really was medium spicy. Loved it!
