    Spring rolls

I had an intense craving for bahn mi last week and swung by Pho 72 on my way home. I ordered at the counter and my order took about 15-20 minutes; definitely recommend ordering ahead for takeout! I got spring rolls (standard, nothing special) and a tofu bahn mi which absolutely hit. The pickled veg were delish and the tofu was deliciously chewy and savory! For $10 it was way bigger than I expected. There was a bit of commotion in the kitchen and a lot of shouting orders back and forth, which was clearly audible in the dining room so not the best ambiance for dining in. Cashiers were very kind though! There are a bunch of Vietnamese places around the area but this was definitely worthy of a revisit.

Stumbled upon this great place in my neighborhood. When you try the food you'll see why it's so popular. The staff is super friendly and exceptionally welcoming. It goes a long way! Price point is great for the DC area. I have had the banh mi a few times so far and the spring rolls. I can't wait to try the actual pho. this sandwich is always super flavorful. The bread is a hit every time - the combination is just way better than any regular sandwich you'll get in the area. Service is quick and they offer to go orders!

Food was great! We had chicken pho and beef pho. Service was prompt on the sleepy rainy Friday after Christmas. Ambience was average for a Vietnamese restaurant.

I was in a rush and needed a bite to eat. Craving pho and in the dc area, I found this place which is rated well and somewhat hidden I was worried the food would take too long but they served it almost instantly and it was delicious

Combo banh mi; no cilantro, no jalapeños (even specified extra for both hoping to make sure I got some)

It's devastating to have write the review but this is now maybe the fourth or fifth delivery experience in a row that has been abysmal. I discovered pho 72 about two years ago and couldn't stop singing their praises because of how fresh the baguettes were and just tasty overall, the banh mi would be. I introduced a number of friends to it, diner it enthusiastically several times as well. But now it's like they just phone it in on the banh mi. I now get no jalapeños, no cilantro and it's loaded up with extra pickled carrots and one single small cucumber round. I privately left the restaurant feedback eight months ago because of my fond wee for them but now feel obliged to share my now consistently negative experience with others.

Went back last weekend to grab a combination bahn mi and it was not the same, not enough pickled carrots and radish and it old, cucumbers cut in a circle not long ways, no cilantro and jalapeno on a bahn mi! Did they get a new cook ? Or new owner quality down hill. It did not look like the sandwiches I use to get previously a year ago.

My friend recommended this new spot, and after eating here I immediately saved it on doordash so I can get it delivered in the future LOL. I had the pho 72, and the broth tasted flavorful but clean, so I didn't have to guzzle water after eating to wash out the msg. The meat was tender too, but I wish they gave a little more - portion wasn't bad, but some other places do give more. I also tried the shrimp and pork summer rolls and the pork banh mi. The summer rolls were a little smaller than I'm used to, but they tasted good. The banh mi baguette was AMAZING - so perfectly crispy outside and fluffy inside. The meat was pretty good, though the seasoning was different from what I'm used to. It had a little curry or turmeric flavor for some reason? It was good, but different. The owner/manager was also super friendly! My partner and I had already ordered pho and summer rolls but were talking about the banh mi, and he came over and said he could add one to our order if we wanted LOL. He checked up on us regularly and was so welcoming with all the customers, both dine in and takeout. So happy to finally have a solid pho spot in DC!

I was a little surprised someone tried opening up another Pho place in CoHi when we already have 14. But here we are, and I gotta say props to them trying! Came to for a classic pho special with all the meats, as well as rocket shrimp for the lulz. The shrimp were more than meets the eye - actually got a little leaf of Thai Basil or mint with the shrimp which changes things up. The pho was pretty solid, toppings were fresh and broth had plenty of fat/umami. I did think the broth had too much lime already for my taste - but on another visit to 14 that one was even worse - so by comparison I'd rather have this one. Menu here is a little smaller but I do think there's enough effort to make their food standout. Would certainly come back if I'm craving Viet food and can't leave DC.

Including MD (and Baltimore), all of DC, and Eden Center -- I think this is the best pho in the area. It's all about the broth, and this clear and sweet broth (grease and fat are left in only if the broth is lacking) is the best so far. Also, - Authentic DC chả giò (egg rolls): 72 serves it with lettuce, daikon/carrots, that you use to wrap the egg rolls before dipping; the ONLY place in DC to serve it this authentic. - Their banh mi--lemongrass pork & chicken--is like my grandma's. This is hands down the best Viet spot in DC so far.

Before we even walked into the restaurant, we were informed that the left entrance door had been broken for quite some time. Since we had a double baby stroller with us, getting inside was a bit of a challenge and not exactly the best first impression. Overall Ratings Atmosphere - 3/5 Service - 3/5 Food - 3/5 Parking - Street Parking Atmosphere - The restaurant feels a bit old and dated and could probably use some updating. Interestingly, while the dining room definitely shows its age, the ordering system is modern and up to date. The contrast between the two was pretty noticeable. Service - Service was just okay. This is more of a casual setup where customers place their orders at the counter and the staff bring the food out when it's ready. There wasn't really anything memorable, either good or bad, about the service experience. What We Ordered - -Spring Rolls (Good) -Pho Dac Biet (Special Beef Pho) - The flavor was good overall, but the broth was only lukewarm when it arrived. A bowl of pho really needs to be piping hot, so this took away from the experience. -Grilled Pork Rice Plate - The pork was a bit too salty for my taste and was just okay overall. Final Thoughts - This was an average dining experience. The food was decent, the service was adequate, and the atmosphere was nothing particularly special. Nothing stood out enough to make me want to go out of my way to return, but I also wouldn't discourage others from trying it if they're already in the area. There are simply other Vietnamese restaurants nearby that I would be more inclined to visit first.

You can really taste the caramelization. And the large shrimp were velveted which was made it extra satisfying to eat. Also a good shareable portion size! Muu Som: 4/5 this was super rich and heavy. Would get this again only to share with a larger group. Loved that it came with sticky rice. Mango sticky rice: 4/5 delicious but in my opinion didn't need the ice cream on top (my boyfriend thinks otherwise though). Very large portion as well. The cocktails were a little pricy ($15) for what they were but I did love the tamarind margarita. Just wish it was a larger drink or a smaller price tag. Service was very attentive!

I'm disappointed I haven't ever stopped in here before. I walk by this restaurant regularly and…read morenever thought to check it out. I actually intended to try out the Trini Vybez restaurant next door, but discovered they're closed but their signage is still up. Anyways, I got a seat at the bar for myself and service was great. I was a bit indecisive as the menu is pretty extensive, and I've never eaten Laotian food before. Luckily, it was happy hour, so I was able to sample a couple of their appetizers and their daiquiri which was quite strong. I had the Tam Sum, papaya salad and that was very good with a hint of spice and lime. Then, I also had Chuenh Peek Gai, which was tamarind glazed wings. Omg they were savory and crispy! I loved these. For the entree, the bartender recommended some great options, but I finally settled on Kee Mao, which is flattened rice noodles with stir fry beef and vegetables. It was also a very savory dish, with a sweetness to it. Laotian food is very similar to Thai food and I love Thai food. I will not sleep on this restaurant and will be back soon!!
