I'll admit that stopped by here for a late(ish) night feeding because it was the first place that I saw after leaving another business in the area. That said, I was very happy with my this random result. Upon entering the restaurant, I thought the host/bartender/server was super nice and very friendly. For my dining pleasure, I went with the drunken noodles with chicken. While the meal was pretty tasty, I thought the portion size was a bit small compared to the same dish that I've had at other Thai places in the area. While the portion size was a bit smaller for this dish, I did think the prices in general were pretty reasonable compared to other spots in the area. Interestingly enough, I did place an order to go for my family, and the portions for those dishes were pretty standard. One thing that I have to recommend: the chicken wings with the chili sauce. I'll say that the sweet chili sauce was out of this world amazing. The Regent really should bottle this sauce and sell it, because I would totally use this sauce in my everyday cooking. Actually, I probably appreciated the sweet chili sauce more than the chicken wings. ;) Overall, I cannot really complain about my experience at The Regent. Perhaps, I'll return during another one of my random adventures in that part of town. read more

Fantastic!!!! The staff was amazing. It was so lovely sitting outside. They even gave me OFF spray as a precaution which was very nice of them to offer. The Goong Sorong (shrimp) was great. Even the garnish was Yummy. The pork basil fried rice was sooooo good. I even ordered it with extra veggies (extra charge but I didn't mind) and the mango with sticky rice dessert was great! The BEST Thai just happens to be right down the alley! The folks who own this restaurant are lovely (Dolores and Javier etc -- you guys are the best!) and the food as amazing as it ever was (I've been eating here since 2007). Tonight we ordered IN and got the regent noodles with tofu (my fave dish) very spicy, the papaya salad very spicy, and the pad Thai with pork (for my man - regular spice). We went back here tonight to dine in the restaurant and it was even better! The Thai iced tea was on point, and the Regent noodles (similar to drunken noodle but more vegetables) were fantastic, as was my husband's red curry (a generous portion and super flavorful). We also loved the crispy chicken (had more of a sweet and sour flavor, but with a Thai twist). Everything we've gotten here has been A++. Really love this restaurant and the service is so warm and efficient too. They are a real gem in the Dupont Circle/Adams Morgan area! read more

This is a mediocre Thai spot... wasn't too happy about the food I got.. dumplings seem warmed up in microwave and salad I had was missing the hit that I usually get at other spots. I was visiting from out of town and needed some dinner on my way back to my Airbnb. I ordered takeout online from The Regent because it had decent reviews and was on the walk back. I got pad Thai with tofu and veggie rolls. I don't know if I had an off day or other reviewers haven't had good pad Thai but this was not great. Not the worst I've had but definitely not the best. First of all, there was hardly any egg or anything else in it except tofu and noodles. Also is was SO SPICY. I ordered medium spice because I do like a little kick but this was way too much. My mouth was on fire and my lips were burning. It really took away any pleasure from the meal because I was downing water for my burning mouth and having to get Kleenex for my running nose. Not the experience I was going for with my meal and I've never had "medium spice" be that hot. Veggie rolls were okay. Basically raw veggies wrapped up. Not exactly what I was expecting but it was fine. Logically, I wasn't given utensils even tho I requested them on the order. And the confirmation email doesn't have a pick up time which is strange. I gave it 20 minutes or so, to allow enough time. Food was okay but I wouldn't order from here again when I'm back in town. read more

We were in DC to see the Cherry Blossoms and wanted to find somewhere up near Adams Morgan for dinner. We're so glad we found The Regent Thai! The food was delicious and the people are so friendly. My wife had the Drunken Noodles (she asked for it not to be too spicy) and I had Cashew Chicken, but with regular chicken, not fried. Both were very good. I had a glass of Knob Creek bourbon and my wife had a Lemongrass Martini (which she loved). It was a Saturday night and it wasn't crowded (for our 6:30pm reservation). You know you're in for a treat when you see the owner tutoring their children on one of the dining tables. That's how you know when the restaurant is legit. We came in on an early Wednesday evening and the restaurant was wide open. Usually that's not a good sign but we stuck to the dinner plan because of all the positive reviews on Yelp. The restaurant is nicely decorated with a bunch of Thai decor and props. The menu is similar to any Thai restaurant. They have all the staples like pad Thai or pineapple fried rice. Not much of a beer selection but they do have a full bar if you want a cocktail. On this occasion I settled with the Drunken Noodles and I was not disappointed. The dish was pack with flavors. It was a little sweet and spicy but it was not overpowering. They served a generous portion as well. Another big plus is everything came in a timely manner and our waiter provided great customer service. I would definitely stop by again if I'm in the area or if I'm craving Thai food and want it delivered. read more

I wanted to like this place so badly as it is the closest Thai to my place and I constantly crave basil fried rice and panang curry. I got the basil fried rice with tofu as a pickup. The food itself was good though the sizes of the tofu were really inconsistent so some of it was very chewy while other pieces were perfect. I was really disappointed that the man at the front desk was not wearing a mask. Additionally, I have never gotten such bad food poisoning from a restaurant in DC. I picked up my food within 10/15 minutes of ordering and ate it as soon as I got home and didn't even have any meat so it's almost impressive. read more

Good Thai place. It has nice decor and ambiance. The vegetarian spring rolls were good. The tom yum soup was flavorful and tangy, it hadmore tofu than expected and less soup. The vegetarian pad Thai didn't have the color I'm used to but the flavor was all there. I grew up on Thai/Lao food, and cook it often at home. Trust me when I tell you this place pretty good. I don't live in the area, but from the looks of it there aren't too many options in DC. When I asked for Thai Hot, they actually did it! It got me sweating, but it was so tasty. I had the Drunken Noodles with Chicken. It had a lot of flavor and the noodles were just perfect, not too soft or too hard. My friends and I picked at each others food, and everything tasted great. Friendly and fast service. Large and spacious venue. We walked from our hotel, so I'm not sure how parking is in the area. Check out my photos. P.S. A good indicator on finding good Asian food is to look for the restaurant with the most Asians. That won't fly here, because you won't find very many Asians. I had the time of my life phase twoing at Regent, and would like to share some of the positive aspects about my dining out experience. Firstly, me and my quar pod got optimal outdoor seating which seemed like an amazing feat considering that Lauriol Pee Pee was busting at the seams with hungry patrons. The pod people both ordered the Pad See Ew and I reveled in finally being able to violate boundaries and eat off of their plates. Also, the exquisite flavors drove home the fact that I'll neva make it as a chef. The dining staff was patient and eco friendly. They asked that we pull up the menu on our phones. While this is not very friendly to the geriatrics out there, I think it's safe to say me and my young, gifted millennial quar pod appreciated tha innovation. This is my GO TO delivery Thai Food restaurant and one of the few options that offer "Thai Hot" for your food. Don't be brave, if you want to be able to enjoy your food, don't go past Hot. The flavors are great and not worth being masked with too much kick. My go-tos are the Papaya or Mango salads. They really hold the heat but bring the sweet flavor of the fruit, a little crispy snap letting you know it's fresh, and that great fish sauce that bring umami flavor! On the noodle front, they shine on their flat-wide-rice noodle dishes like the Drunken or Pad See Ew noodles. I prefer getting these dishes with veggie or pork since chicken can dry-out with delivery. Don't sleep on the Laarp dish, they tell you it's an appetizer, but Laarp plus a salad over rice is a meal, and it's amazing. Lime punch, chilis and chicken with a splash of fish sauce and some mint are a secret combo that only the Thai would have figured out. Delivery is fast and efficient and the rich flavors of the curry (pannag is my favorite) really showcase great Thai at a good price! read more

We ordered the pad kee mao and the pad thai and overall enjoyed it. They stuffed the containers pretty full and so we ate this for a for a few meals. While the pad kee mao had the familiar dark soy, slightly sweet taste, we were surprised at the pad thai, which was drier than what we're used to. I actually kinda liked their drier, less saucy version because it didn't have that overly sweet taste that a lot of Thai take out places have. And for some reason, the pad thai definitely tasted better the next day. The only real criticism for both dishes was that the meat was also really dry. Random night with friends and we wanted some good Thai food after not feeling like braving the long lines at the night market off. Yelp pointed us to The Regent and we called to find out about reservations and much to our surprise on a Saturday night, they had availability for our table for 4. When we got there, we were incredibly lucky to find a close parking spot (it's DC so street parking is hit or miss), but when he got the door we were a little apprehensive because there were not many people in the restaurant, well at least not maybe we could see from the outside. But we ventured forward and we are so glad we did. We were seated promptly and there happened to be a rather large party in the same area and our server kindly moved us to another section of the restaurant that was not full so we could actually hear each other speak. It was lovely. Our drinks and appetizer came out quickly, (the gyoza)--it was very good (fresh and crispy)! We ordered the lycheetini, lychee sangria, mai tai, and the Singha beer. All delicious. For the main entrees: panang curry with beef (Thai hot), tom yum soup with seafood, drunken noodles with chicken (Thai hot), pad see ew with chicken (hot), basil fried rice with pork (medium). The only bummer was they were out of mango so no mango sticky rice for me (which is probably good--I was full anyway but I would have made room for that!) Overall, 4.5/5 stars! I live down the street and I used to come here a lot. It definitely changed owner. The service was great! Sadly, we ordered 8 dishes and the foods didn't taste like Thai at all! :( I felt some what embarrassed to bring my visiting family there. The potions were VERY small, they were laughable (my family did laugh). The Pad Thai noodle was over cooked and tasted like nothing but vinegar. The music selection was horrible and out of place, loud pop music? Also, need to check the AC because it felt humid even with the AC. The weekly special has empanadas and fried rice cheese balls? Small Thai spot, tucked away from the hustle and bustle. The Regent sits at the base of Adams Morgan and the top of Dupont, in an area that is really neither. The restaurant is large enough to accommodate larger parties, often not too busy, and great for takeout or dine in. I've only ever been for dinner, however the food was great the service as well, and the staff incredibly patient. I tried a few curries all are great. I really like that they allow you to specify the level of spiciness, as everyone's tolerance is different. Overall cute spot with Great Thai food and friendly staff! read more

Uber driver, who was originally from Thailand recommended this restaurant to me. I ordered Basil Jae Vegetarian and Mango Salad for delivery. The delivery was on time. Loved Julienned green mango with roasted ground coconut and chopped red onion in chili and garlic dressing! It reminded me of raw mango salad my mom used to make in India during hot summer days . To start, we ordered food for delivery and it got delivered in about 20 minutes after we placed the order on a Friday around 5. This is much faster than the website estimate of 45-55 minutes and a lovely surprise. I tried the yelp system for delivery and worked out seamlessly. Now, let's talk about the main event. We ordered the Pad See Ew with pork and extra vegetables, Drunken Noodle with seafood, extra vegetables, extra egg, and the Sea War Salad. All three dishes were exquisite - the favors were like a little trip to Thailand for our tastebuds. The seafood was tender, tasty, and seemed very fresh. The noodles were cooked to perfection and had just the right amount of heat and flavor. I'm happy that we chose to get extra veggies with the dishes, for a more well-rounded fiber fueled meal. 10/10 would order from this restaurant again! read more
