Such a hidden gem! A small restaurant with a great atmosphere, wonderful service, and incredibly flavorful food. Every dish was absolutely delicious and packed with flavor! You can really taste the care that goes into the food. If you're craving delicious Thai cuisine, I highly recommend checking this place out. Definitely worth a visit! I'm from LA and we have a lot of great Thai restaurants but this spot is comparable to some of the best. Highly recommend coming early because there is a line
Our first time visiting for parent's weekend. We got a last minute reservation for 3 people at 5:30 pm! The staff was friendly and the food was delicious! We ordered the special pork belly Ka Praw, the panang mixed protein and the pad see ew with chicken. For dessert we ordered the mango sago. Everything was delicious! We will definitely be back! The downstairs was intimate but did not feel crowded! Very good vibe
A great option for Thai. I can see why they get such good reviews. Pad see ew had an authentic flavor to it. Would have liked some more char on it, but it was so well seasoned, it made up for it. The noodle consistency was good too. The curry and fried rice we ordered were also great. Definitely quality well prepared food here. We got there before they got busy at 6pm on a weeknight. They also have a dining area upstairs with a large table for groups.
My favorite food stop during my DC trip! I knew they would be busy during lunch based on the reviews so I got there just after 11:30 and most of the tables were full. Luckily, I got seated right away. Super cute restaurant with vibrant decorations. I love the murals and all the little details. My family got papaya salad to share and it was a bit more than mild. The flavor though, amazing! We ordered the tom yum seafood, Penang curry and Pad see ew. Everything was so good! The portion is generous too! Even though we were so full, we still share the must have mango sticky rice and it definitely made the meal completed! Highly recommend Rimtang if you're in Georgetown area!!!
Everything was delicious!!! The Thai iced tea was also so yummy. Our waiter was very nice and gave us great recommendations. It's a cute, small place.
So. Freakin. Good. Parents and I chowed down, loved it! Found this gem in Georgetown! Second Thai place I've had in DC. I feel that the portions are a bit on the smaller side, but still left feeling full. The papaya salad was delicious and flavorful. But SO SPICY! Look, I got that Asian/Korean blood but whewww was I sweating. The Pad Thai & Curry were sooo good - super rich in their flavors and seasoning. You could feel the juiciness and every bite had a burst of life. All of the dishes blended together nicely. Next time, would love to get some sort of meat dish. One downside though here is that they do not have Pineapple fried rice (one of my favorites). To that note, the menu is more limited. Would definitely love to come back! So good!
Inside a 1909 rowhouse in Georgetown is a Thai restaurant using the recipes of its chef "Mama," who worked as a street food vendor in Bangkok before immigrating to the U.S. Open for lunch and dinner every day of the week, Rimtang has two levels of seating. Service is efficient and friendly. The menu isn't your typical Thai menu so don't expect green curry on the menu. Instead, they make a Northern Thai curry that's worth getting. The satay and papaya salad were flavorful too. Their Thai iced tea comes in a pouch making it a unique experience.
To give context, I come from Southeast Asia. Thailand was one of the countries I frequented A LOT! The food at Rim Tang is by far the best Thai food I have tried in America so far (and I've lived here 18 years). Women owned and mother and son run, the chef was a street vendor in Thailand and her dishes are authentically Thai. Don't expect the watered down over sweetened version you get at most Thai restaurants. Her dishes take you across the world tomorrow a country known for its gastronomy. We started with the shrimp chips with Nam Prik Ong. It's basically ground beef stir friend with a spicy sauce and served with shrimp chips that you put the meat on. Outstanding and they will lower the spice level on request. The spring rolls were good too. For mains we had the tom yum soup and the special which was Chinese broccoli with crispy pork. Again, cooked to perfection. Food was served quickly. The restaurant is down a side street and the decor is very quaint. Give it a try and long may it last! Note : photos don't do the food justice as it was so good we started eating before taking the photo!
Excellent experience at Rimtang for dinner. When we walked in, we were confused because the first floor had no one dining. But they brought us upstairs, and it was busy on a Friday night. The service was great. They were very kind and quick with the food and drinks. We ordered the spicy calamari, crab dumplings, panang curry and nam prik ong. The food was delicious. The calamari was crispy and hot. The nam prik ong was a unique blend of tomato and savory pork. The shrimp panang curry was rich, and the shrimp were perfectly tender. Unfortunately, it was not mango season, so we didn't get mango sticky rice, which is our fave. Overall, great dinner! Nice comfortable dining room on the second floor. Great service! And most importantly, the food was bomb! We left very full.
This was my first time coming to this establishment. If you want authentic Thai food I would highly suggest trying this restaurant out. The staff were very friendly and were thoughtful in answering my questions about this dish. The atmosphere was prefect and chill and I did not feel rushed at all and very very comfortable. Family owned businesses are truly gems and this place was nothing short of amazing! First, the selection of yellow paint for the outside brings a special brightness to your life as you approach the building. Next, the inside is very cute and cozy, making it perfect for an intimate date or even a solo lunch/dinner. The host and our waitress were beyond kind and friendly, I appreciated feeling welcomed as if I were part of their family. For beverages, I ordered the Sparkling Roselle juice, PERFECT for hot summer days. But also an excellent beverage to pair with spicy foods. My boyfriend ordered the iced Thai tea and loved it. For starters, we ordered the spicy crispy calamari. This dish was FANTASTIC! Perfectly fried and well seasoned to incorporate just the right balance of spices. It's a bit of a spice kicker, but nothing that a cool sip of beverage couldn't calm. Paired with a sweet sauce on this side, I appreciated the combination of heat and sweetness to this beautiful appetizer. For mains, we ordered their seasonal special. I ordered the Stir-fried Chinese broccoli with crispy pork belly and my boyfriend ordered the Ka-Praw (which came with crispy pork belly). Both dishes were PHENOMENAL! I have a deep appreciation for the way Chef takes a chance on blending flavors. It felt like a perfect culinary bridge which connected Thai culture to each dish. The stir-fried Chinese broccoli was beautifully prepared, not too soft but just crunchy enough. It was not heavily drowned in seasoning but had a hint of spice and acidity to it. The crispy pork belly could sell all by itself and I'd order it. Another appreciation for how the Chef balanced the fat from the pork with a hint of acidity seeping through the sauce added in the broccoli. It was a masterpiece My boyfriend also thoroughly enjoyed his Ka-Praw and the evidence of that was that we both left nothing to go lol the food was that good. I cannot wait to return again. No reservations needed, it was a random and well worth date.
Best Thai food we've had ever, and our favorite on this trip. I always thought Thai food is not something to break your wallet for, but the prices here are 100% justified given the flavors, quality and perfection of every dish we ordered today. The papaya salad was extremely refreshing, crunchy and actually spicy! Every vegetable just went well with the overall salad, making everything well balanced. The batter on the spicy calamari was perfection and the sauce did it better. Our favorite was the panang curry. My husband doesn't care for curry at all and he killed this dish. It was so creamy and flavorful. Definitely would come back just for this dish. The Ka Praw also exceeded my expectations. The fried egg was cooked perfectly with an ooey gooey yolk that just brought everything together- definitely opt for this if you can! Wish we had this in LA!
This place is super cute - SUPER small - delicious food. I gave it four stars for food because it's hard to find good Thai here. Service was ok - our server was all over the place so we had to keep flagging someone else down who seemed to have things under control (we didn't get serving utensils, no rice, etc). This is a VERY casual place and is all about the food. Very small list of wines/beers and no cocktails. So go somewhere before or after if that's your objective. We ordered the spring rolls (delicious), chicken satay (fine - I liked the vinegar sauce that accompanied), pad Thai was good but the oxtail soup was the clear winner for me. So delicious! We did not order dessert but I will likely order food to be delivered to my house next time and try the mango sticky rice.
Went here on a Wednesday afternoon around 2pm. Me and my wife were seated immediately in their upstairs seating. We ordered the Tom Yum Soup and Pad Thai. Both dishes were flavorful and cooked to perfection. We both enjoyed the dishes very much. Plenty of seating upstairs, with nice touches of Thai portraits throughout. We also got Thai Iced Teas to wash it all down. Would recommend this Thai Place in the heart of Georgetown DC! read more

Rimtang is an awesome place and worth visiting. Service was fantastic and has beautiful interior. Food is excellent we got papya salad, pork belly kerpraw, and penang curry with shrimp. The papya salad well seasoned with great heat. The pork belly was delicious had great crunch but was still tender. The fried basil added great freshness with the rice. Based on the raving reviews, I was exited to try Rimtang while in Georgetown. It wasn't super busy on a Friday afternoon so we were able to get a table right away. They do have a sitting area downstairs as well as upstairs. The menu looked really good so I was excited to try their staples. The spring rolls were pretty greasy and definitely didn't worth the calories. My pad Thai was pretty bland for my taste. Not something I would come back for. Considering location, the prices were on a higher end. read more
Very cool authentic Thai cuisine in a simple but beautifully appointed little restaurant with two floors of dining! Make reservations because they're busy and always full with very limited seating!! So that tells you how great this place is!! The food is amazing and spicy, flavorful!!! We were the only ones seated at 6:30pm, then all of a sudden a rush of people started coming in!! The iced Thai coffee is refreshing!! The spicy calamari is phenomenal! Service is fast, friendly and outstanding!! They play great music!! 80's Highly recommend this place as it is located in the heart of Georgetown and serves the best authentic Thai cuisine!! read more
Always trust Eater...this place is amazing! I ate the most amazing jumbo lump crab omelette the other day. Lovely service and a peaceful Georgetown location just below the main drag ensure an enjoyable meal. Same menu for lunch and dinner so you can also enjoy the omelette anytime. I'll be back! read more
Tried this place because I was in the area before an event and wanted something good for lunch. They did not disappoint. It looked pretty busy when I went in, but I was seated quickly. The server was nice provided good recommendations. I had the spicy crispy calamari for an appetizer and the Ka-Praw with pork and a fried egg. Both were really flavorful and the Ka-Praw was very filling. I wanted to try dessert but I was too full. The spot was cozy and had nice art work and good music playing. This made for a nice and peaceful environment. The food came out pretty fast too, so that was nice. read more
Came here on a Sunday for an early lunch. The papaya salad was the only dish that tasted authentic. The Pad see ew was mushy--felt like the noodles were overcooked. The crabmeat fried rice mostly just tasted like curry powder; I was expecting a lot more :/ read more

I was craving thai food & was in the area, so we decided to try this place out for dinner. I was so pleasantly impressed with their menu, specifically because of the spicy clams I ordered. I had never had clams & was nervous about the texture & the flavor. The flavor was all there ! It came with rice, so I ended up adding the rice to the sauce at the bottom of my bowl & ate that up too! We also ordered wine, shrimp tempura & tea. Everything was great, including the service. The bathrooms are a little tricky to get to, as we sat downstairs & the bathrooms are located upstairs. The upstairs seating area is a tad more spacious , but the whole place is pretty small. I will definitely be returning soon :) read more

I recently got Ka-Praw with chicken for delivery and my order came on time. I loved my Ka-Praw-the portion size and price were good, the rice and chicken were perfectly cooked, the chicken had great spice and heat, and the flavors were outstanding. I look forward to going back to Rimtang! read more

I went to Rimtang and the vibes were actually really cool. People were quietly talking, and you could hear the music in the background without it being overwhelming. It felt relaxed and comfortable. I ordered Mama's fried rice, and unfortunately it just wasn't that great. The chicken was kind of just... there. It didn't really add any flavor, and the rice itself didn't seem fried enough. Overall, it lacked taste and depth, which was disappointing. On the positive side, the service was attentive and polite, which I appreciated. Even with the nice atmosphere and good service, the food just didn't do it for me, so I probably wouldn't go back. read more

Came to DC from Arizona and stumbled upon Rimtang. The place was quaint and cute, and the service was good. As for the food, the papaya salad was one of the better ones I have. The crab dumpling was also very good. The pork sticks were so-so and the clams was also pretty decent. read more

Came here Saturday night to celebrate friends birthday. I made reservations and had to make some changes which they were accommodating. We had to wait 10mins or so for table to be ready but we sat down and had great service and the food was delicious. I had mama fried rice and garlic shrimp along with thai iced tea. We also shared appetizers (didnt get pics of any) which were tasty. The spicy calamari, spring roll amd crab dumplings are what we tried and wiuld recommend. Few people got the khua kling which was spicy but they raved about this dish. Im glad we were able to come here and would recommend for those who love Thai cuisine. read more

Came in on a Friday Night with 4 friends. It was such a lovely dinner - but beware, the portions are small. Located off of M st., Rimtang is a new Thai restaurant with a little twist. There is a parking lot next door for $25 or you can find street parking around. As of now, they don't have their liquor license, but they offer a variety of teas and juices. The place looks small, but there is seating downstairs and upstairs. We ordered several dishes and shared family style! My favorites include the Panang Curry, Mama's fried rice and the Kaeng Hanglay (northern Thai curry). Service was quick and top notch. A great place to meet with friends. Overall, it's a decent Thai restaurant, but get ready to spend if you want a full belly. read more

THE BIG: Two story, Thai restaurant located in Georgetown, right down the street from the Skims. Main floor has a few tables and kitchen while upstairs is strictly dining and restrooms. Street parking and a parking lot if available. THE BLACK AND WHITE: The flavors were really good here. Portion sizes are quite small. We started off with the steamed dumplings and spicy crispy calamari. Both were great, however the crab dumplings came in 3s which was tiny. Reminded me of shu mai. For the mains, we got the Mama's Fried Rice, Fried Shrimp with Spicy Garlic Salt, Panang Curry, Sai Ua (Thai sausage), and the Kaeng Hanglay (northern thai curry). My favorite was the Kaeng Hanglay curry, and the panang curry. Great flavors and warmed up the body from the cold spell. Least favorite was the sai ua, mainly because the meat inside the sausage was dry as a bean. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall the damage done for our dinner for four was around $200. I'll definitely be back to try some more items and hopefully they'll have their liquor license by then. read more
