One of my favorite Thai spots in DC! I first discovered three from a Yelp event last year and they've become a regular rotation ever since. I've ordered takeout, delivery, and dined in and the quality is always good and the food is really tasty. I'm generally not a seafood person but their Tom Yum Seafood soup is legit sooo good. Idk how mama is able to make the squid not chewy but she is a wizard. The chicken Panang curry is my go to. It's got a good little kick to it but is full of flavor. The calamari is also really delicious, the batter is so light and crispy. The pad see ew is also solid, as is the pad Thai. I went to Rimtang and the vibes were actually really cool. People were quietly talking, and you could hear the music in the background without it being overwhelming. It felt relaxed and comfortable. Excellent experience at Rimtang for dinner. When we walked in, we were confused because the first floor had no one dining. But they brought us upstairs, and it was busy on a Friday night. The service was great. They were very kind and quick with the food and drinks. We ordered the spicy calamari, crab dumplings, panang curry and nam prik ong. The food was delicious. The calamari was crispy and hot. The nam prik ong was a unique blend of tomato and savory pork. The shrimp panang curry was rich, and the shrimp were perfectly tender. Family owned businesses are truly gems and this place was nothing short of amazing! First, the selection of yellow paint for the outside brings a special brightness to your life as you approach the building. Next, the inside is very cute and cozy, making it perfect for an intimate date or even a solo lunch/dinner. It's a bit of a spice kicker, but nothing that a cool sip of beverage couldn't calm. Paired with a sweet sauce on this side, I appreciated the combination of heat and sweetness to this beautiful appetizer. For mains, we ordered their seasonal special. I ordered the Stir-fried Chinese broccoli with crispy pork belly and my boyfriend ordered the Ka-Praw (which came with crispy pork belly). Both dishes were PHENOMENAL! I have a deep appreciation for the way Chef takes a chance on blending flavors. It felt like a perfect culinary bridge which connected Thai culture to each dish. The stir-fried Chinese broccoli was beautifully prepared, not too soft but just crunchy enough. It was not heavily drowned in seasoning but had a hint of spice and acidity to it. The crispy pork belly could sell all by itself and I'd order it. Another appreciation for how the Chef balanced the fat from the pork with a hint of acidity seeping through the sauce added in the broccoli. Based on the raving reviews, I was exited to try Rimtang while in Georgetown. It wasn't super busy on a Friday afternoon so we were able to get a table right away. They do have a sitting area downstairs as well as upstairs. The menu looked really good so I was excited to try their staples. The spring rolls were pretty greasy and definitely didn't worth the calories. My pad Thai was pretty bland for my taste. Not something I would come back for. Best Thai food we've had ever, and our favorite on this trip. I always thought Thai food is not something to break your wallet for, but the prices here are 100% justified given the flavors, quality and perfection of every dish we ordered today. The papaya salad was extremely refreshing, crunchy and actually spicy! Every vegetable just went well with the overall salad, making everything well balanced. The batter on the spicy calamari was perfection and the sauce did it better. Our favorite was the panang curry. My husband doesn't care for curry at all and he killed this dish. It was so creamy and flavorful. Definitely would come back just for this dish. The Ka Praw also exceeded my expectations. This place is super cute - SUPER small - delicious food. I gave it four stars for food because it's hard to find good Thai here. Service was ok - our server was all over the place so we had to keep flagging someone else down who seemed to have things under control (we didn't get serving utensils, no rice, etc). This is a VERY casual place and is all about the food. Very small list of wines/beers and no cocktails. So go somewhere before or after if that's your objective. We ordered the spring rolls (delicious), chicken satay (fine - I liked the vinegar sauce that accompanied), pad Thai was good but the oxtail soup was the clear winner for me. So delicious! Tried this place because I was in the area before an event and wanted something good for lunch. They did not disappoint. It looked pretty busy when I went in, but I was seated quickly. The server was nice provided good recommendations. I had the spicy crispy calamari for an appetizer and the Ka-Praw with pork and a fried egg. I was craving thai food & was in the area, so we decided to try this place out for dinner. I was so pleasantly impressed with their menu, specifically because of the spicy clams I ordered. I had never had clams & was nervous about the texture & the flavor. The flavor was all there ! It came with rice, so I ended up adding the rice to the sauce at the bottom of my bowl & ate that up too! We also ordered wine, shrimp tempura & tea. Everything was great, including the service. The bathrooms are a little tricky to get to, as we sat downstairs & the bathrooms are located upstairs. The upstairs seating area is a tad more spacious , but the whole place is pretty small. Came here Saturday night to celebrate friends birthday. I made reservations and had to make some changes which they were accommodating. We had to wait 10mins or so for table to be ready but we sat down and had great service and the food was delicious. I had mama fried rice and garlic shrimp along with thai iced tea. We also shared appetizers (didnt get pics of any) which were tasty. The spicy calamari, spring roll amd crab dumplings are what we tried and wiuld recommend. Came in on a Friday Night with 4 friends. It was such a lovely dinner - but beware, the portions are small. Located off of M st., Rimtang is a new Thai restaurant with a little twist. There is a parking lot next door for $25 or you can find street parking around. As of now, they don't have their liquor license, but they offer a variety of teas and juices. The place looks small, but there is seating downstairs and upstairs. We ordered several dishes and shared family style! My favorites include the Panang Curry, Mama's fried rice and the Kaeng Hanglay (northern Thai curry). Service was quick and top notch. A great place to meet with friends. THE BIG: Two story, Thai restaurant located in Georgetown, right down the street from the Skims. Main floor has a few tables and kitchen while upstairs is strictly dining and restrooms. Street parking and a parking lot if available. THE BLACK AND WHITE: The flavors were really good here. Portion sizes are quite small. We started off with the steamed dumplings and spicy crispy calamari. Both were great, however the crab dumplings came in 3s which was tiny. Reminded me of shu mai. For the mains, we got the Mama's Fried Rice, Fried Shrimp with Spicy Garlic Salt, Panang Curry, Sai Ua (Thai sausage), and the Kaeng Hanglay (northern thai curry). My favorite was the Kaeng Hanglay curry, and the panang curry. Great flavors and warmed up the body from the cold spell. Least favorite was the sai ua, mainly because the meat inside the sausage was dry as a bean. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall the damage done for our dinner for four was around $200. I'll definitely be back to try some more items and hopefully they'll have their liquor license by then. read more

Great spot for homey Thai food! It's a little bit expensive (as per usual for Georgetown), but the food is delicious. The Kaeng Hanglay was a very warm pork curry that's more soupy than creamy but it went perfectly with the rice. The Mango Sticky Rice was a little sweeter than I would have liked, but still very rich. They have 2 floors of seating and it filled up pretty quickly by the time it hit dinner time on a Sunday. The waiters are really nice and they seem like they're having a great time there. Would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a place to eat in Georgetown (and usually I would never recommend eating in Georgetown). read more

Me and my girlfriend were out in DC at an art show and afterwards we had a craving for Thai food. We took a Lyft to this restaurant, excited for the food based on all the other positive reviews we read. When we got there it was packed and required reservations which we did not realize and would have to wait for about an hour due to how busy they were. A little sad, we were walking out the door trying to figure out where to go when the gentleman up front told us to "hold on a second." I'm not sure what he did or how he did it but he was able to get us a table upstairs! Just the extra effort that he put in to take care of us and let us experience the restaurant for the first time was incredible. Friendly service staff who kept coming to make sure we are well taken care of and fills up my water whenever it's half empty. However, I must admit that the food is pretty average. I tried the Kaeng Tai Pla which is one of their signature dishes and it has a distinct fishy taste / small. My friend got the Shrimp Panang Curry and she also mentioned it's pretty average. Upon entering the restaurant, the space does appear a bit small, not containing too many tables. Despite the small layout, I was able to sit comfortably and not feel cramped at all. The food and service were nothing short of amazing. The staff was incredibly kind, answered any questions we had, and they were on top of refilling waters! It was perfectly crispy and didn't feel like there was more batter than fish! It was difficult to pick just one entree from this menu so I definitely want to come back and try more in the future! I had the panang curry, which was light, yet rich and creamy in taste. The ka-praw had a nice kick to it, and was packed with flavor. There's no better way to end the meal than with mango sticky rice, which of course, was also promptly devoured. The cream drizzled on top was both sweet and salty, which is a combination I enjoyed. Extremely limited menu selections, especially relative to other area Thai restaurants. Would not advise anyone who doesn't eat pork to eat here, as at least 2 of the roughly 10 entree selections are made with pork. The remaining selections were acceptable but by no means exceptional. We struggled to find 3 selections--that were not primarily carb-based--to share among three diners. The Panang curry dish was tasty but had no vegetables and the steamed fish dish was salmon pate which was minimally tasty and frankly had the texture of dry ricotta, and was overpriced for what it was. The drunken noodles ( Pad se Ew) was tasty but the portion was so small that it was necessary to order an additional entree to share so we didn't leave the restaurant hungry. Not a large selection of desserts, either. Dessert was good but, consistent with the rest of the meal, not anything special. It's been my experience that most restaurants that have limited selections focus on an extraordinary level of quality in their dishes. I did not find that to be the case here. It is a good enough place to go if you are really hungry and can't find a reservation elsewhere but not a place I would recommend making a special trip to go to. read more

I went to this place for dinner and ordered a few dishes. Partway through the meal, I discovered a piece of Saran Wrap hidden in either the Pad Thai or Panang Curry -- hard to tell which. When we brought it to the server's attention, he seemed to know exactly where it came from, almost as if it was common practice in the kitchen to warm up food in the microwave using plastic wrap.
