Delicious Curry...Just Wish There Was More of It! After a weekend away, I wanted something good, warm, and comforting for dinner, so Thai food immediately came to mind. I've tried quite a few Thai spots around DC, but this was my first time ordering from TipThai. I went with the red curry with chicken, and it was REALLY delicious! The curry was flavorful, rich, and exactly the comfort meal I was looking for. I also love that they let you choose your spice level -- mild, medium, hot, or extra hot. I ordered mine hot, and it was perfect! Definitely had some heat, but not so much that it overpowered the flavor of the curry. My only real complaint was the portion size. The price was comparable to other Thai restaurants in the area, but the amount of food definitely wasn't. The portion was noticeably smaller than pretty much every other red curry I've ordered locally, which was disappointing considering the price. That said, the curry itself tasted so good that I'm definitely interested in trying some of their other menu items. I just worry that the smaller portions may be consistent across the menu. Overall, TipThai nailed the flavor and spice level -- I just need them to be a little more generous with the portions! read more

I visited TipThai needing a fast, casual meal prior to flying out. I walked from my hotel and was immediately seated! As I always order the same thing, I didn't take long to look at their menu. I ordered the thai dumplings and pad thai with beef and no bean sprouts. thai dumplings - thai-style dumplings made with pork, shrimp, crab, carrots, water chestnut served with sweet soy sauce juicy, plump, paired well with the sauce. I thought it was interesting the sauce cup and water cup were plastic pad thai - rice noodles stir-fried with egg, bean sprouts, red tofu, and scallion in Pad Thai sauce with your choice of meat and crushed peanut on the side I opted for mild with beef +$2 and without bean sprouts. I would've wanted more sauce, not necessarily wetter but more flavor. The amount of flavor already there wasn't bad, but this was far from the best pad thai I've ever had. Very nice restaurant. It is small and clean. We tried the papaya salad which was good and we also tried the green curry ( chicken) which it was very tasty. The service is very good. The food is clean in appearance and tasteful. The set of hot sauces is quite good. The bill includes the 18% gratuity ... policy that i don't particularly like. I only stopped in to TipThai for a Thai Tea (I've been craving one ever since I've gotten back from Thailand). The service was fast, only waited about 3 minutes. The server was kind. Prices aren't established well in some ways as per my several visits here. Quality is good. However: their pad thai, drunken noodles, and tofu khao soi are exceptional. Tom yum was bland. The main man running the store in the front is dedicated, but i would appreciate it if they implemented feedback. This place is a family staple as well. We were deeply relieved to find (in the midst of Peak Bloom) an available table when we walked in for lunch - partially because we qere both desperate for a place to sit, but also because we were hungry and know they're reliable. The food is mostly the expected range of Thai dishes -tom yum, pad krapow, curry, etc- with a handful of less common options like a papaya salad with salted black crabs. Everything we have had was delicious, as well as being a comfortable -but-interesting spice level, so I can't say we have a favorite (yet, give me time). I very much enjoyed the Larb Ped today -essentially Larb Gai, but with ground duck instead of geound chicken- and my partner demolished the drunken noodle. My Thai tea was especially good, both strong and not oversweetened which is often the case elsewhere. We took the mango sticky rice to go. The place was crowded and it's a bit cramped, though the staff manage well despite tight quarters. They're all quite nice and very attentive as well, which is a bonus. I was in town for a work conference and I love Thai food. This place popped up on my maps with a good review. The food was delicious with just the right amount of spice. I got the green curry and my coworker got drunken noodles. Again they both had great spice. I also got some cold sake which I had not had before. The place was a cute location in the center Was also a small bar you could sit at. The man who helped me was very kind and patient. They did add automatic gratuity which I was a little bit confused from since it was just a party of two. I'll ask for little to no ice next time. Still good! The Fried wonton was not worth the price. They were basically chips with little to no chicken in them. I should've sent them back but i'm just not that person. I really wish I did. The Spicy Kaprow was really delicious and a decent lunch portion. No complaints. Walking in on a Friday around 11:40am, we got a seat inside right away. Despite being busy, the man serving was pretty efficient. Wow is all I can say because this has to be the freshest Thai food delivery I ever had! Just got my order from Uber Eats and I tell you the $40 something dollar I spent is real worth it. I ordered Pad See Ew beef medium heat, mango and sticky rice, wonton soup, and regular fried rice with shrimp all medium heat. I'm glad I started with medium because it was spicy but not too much. So when I order again I will definitely try and inch up to the hot! Food came out hot and fresh and I sampled all so I could make sure I gave my honest opinion. And they did not disappoint. I visited TipThai this afternoon for lunch. GREATTTT place. For a while, I've just been walking past because this location has changed a million times in the last 8 years that I've worked the next street over. However, I decided to give them a try with my sister and friend today and I AM SO GLAD! This place is small but they've done great things with the space. There is a tiny round bar to sit at as well as table seating. There seems to be a downstairs but I don't think it was opened. The staff is super sweet and accommodating.
