Highlighting a few of the amazing spots we found in DC. I was so impressed with this fusion spot, they reimagined some classic dishes in the most unique ways. To start the wings were crispy and lightly spicy. Then we ordered a pho which had an interesting ginger and possibly liver texture? The ramen broth had a surprising shrimp flavor, the noodles were bouncy and pork was flavorful and tender. Getting the pho and ramen was literally the best of both worlds! Definitely recommend!

Came here with a friend and had a lovely time! The service was quick and friendly. I didn't love the backless stools but that's my only complaint. I got the pho ga and it was absolutely delicious. Definitely will be back!

Tried the Firecracker Wings, Spicy Salmon Roll, and Mushroom Dumplings. The Firecracker Wings were just okay, but the Spicy Salmon Roll and Mushroom Dumplings were really good! The servers were sweet, and the ambiance was cozy. It wasn't very crowded/was pretty chill.

People didn't used to come to this neighborhood for food and even after union market came, it was not a place for a nice sitdown meal. But this Ramen bar along with several other restaurants have arrived and were bustling. It would've been hard to get a table, but I snagged a bar seat for a pre-movie meal. They had a couple of vegetarian options, but the idea of a curry laksa with basil oil sounded mouthwatering. The ginger beer I got to open head quite a kick and came with a large piece of candy ginger as well. I had thought about a Boba tea, but I was not disappointed in this. The Ramen was excellent. Spicier than expected with a good variety of vegetables. Being seated where I could watch, the preparation was inspiring as well. And the basil oil did add to an already intoxicating flavor combination. They hit exactly what I was hoping for from them.

Mecha noodle bar is conveniently located in Union market. The menu is quite extensive, with lots more options than your traditional ramen spot. I ordered the spicy miso and added an egg. My bowl came out surprisingly fast. I was worried it wouldn't be good with how quickly it came out, but I was pleasantly surprised. The food was hot and the broth was delicious. The noodles were perfectly cooked and I loved the taste of each of the ingredients in the bowl. The atmosphere is dope too - they were playing Outkast and Lauryn Hill while I was there, so really cool vibes. My server was also very friendly and attentive. Overall, I think this is a great and much needed addition to the neighborhood and I highly recommend checking it out.

I went to Mecha by myself and it ended up being one of those meals that just lands perfectly. I ordered the General Tso's shrimp and it was phenomenal. Crispy, flavorful, and exactly what I wanted after craving shrimp and Asian inspired food. Every bite was balanced and satisfying and honestly just made me happy. This is the kind of dish you keep thinking about after you leave. I also ordered the In My No Drinking Era mocktail with pineapple, ginger, Thai mango, citrus, yuzu, and club soda, and it felt genuinely celebratory even without alcohol. Perfect timing since I had just put in my two week notice and was very much in a reflective but excited mood. The service really stood out. They seated me at a table even though I was dining alone, checked in at all the right moments, and still gave me space to enjoy the experience. Mecha nailed the food, the vibe, and the care, and it is absolutely a place I will keep coming back to.

5/5 Food I ordered the Kinoko Vegan Ramen and it was so delicious! The noodles were the star of the show and all of the meat lovers wanted to try it. The broth was SO good, and had a little spice to it. 5/5 Ambiance Such a cute vibe with booths and bar seating. Neon sign on the wall was fitting. Love that you can watch the chefs prepare the ramen in real time. 5/5 Service Came here for a corporate event. The manager and staff were attentive and friendly. I've been raving about this place since I've been and can't wait to return.

If you're in NoMa and haven't tried Mecha Noodle Bar, you're missing out on one of DC's best-kept gems! The location is incredibly convenient--right in the heart of Union Market District--with plenty of nearby parking options, including the garages and lots that make getting in and out a breeze. No circling the block, no stress... just park and eat! Now let's talk happy hour because Mecha's is hands down one of the best in the entire city and easily the best in NoMa. Affordable, generous, and packed with flavor--this is the kind of happy hour that makes you want to become a regular. And the food? Absolutely delicious. Every dish we tried was a standout: Ginger Beer - Fresh, punchy, and perfectly balanced. Not too sweet, not too sweet. It comes with a cute little piece of candied ginger too! Koyo YUZU - Bright, crisp, and refreshing with that perfect Yuzu citrus pop. This is my favorite since Yuzu is an authentically Asian fruit and flavor, 10/10. Smashes Burger Bao - A must-order. Soft bao paired with that smashed burger flavor? Unbelievably good. Pork Belly Bao - Tender, juicy, melt-in-your-mouth perfection. The kind of bao that makes you close your eyes on the first bite. The pork belly is perfectly sliced with all the right toppings and flavor Sweet & Sour Spareribs - Sticky, tangy, and fall-off-the-bone delicious. The sauce alone is enough to write home about. Exuding TENDERISM!!! Red Oil Dumplings - Spicy, silky, and full of depth. Easily some of the best dumplings I've had in DC. The sauce is amazing so be sure to break the dumplings and soak up the sauce! Peach Tea - Light, refreshing, and so smooth. The perfect way to round out the meal. Mecha is the rare place that checks every single box--location, quality, service, price, and unforgettable food. Highly recommend for happy hour, date night, or anytime you want a guaranteed great meal.

Shoyu Paitan Chicken Ramen

We had an AMAZING time at Mecha NoodleBar! My first impression was an upbeat and fresh vibe as we walked in. Their happy hour was just ending but we will definitely return to get some of our favorites and a few items we didn't get to try. The atmosphere was energetic and fun...a definite good start to a Friday night! We started with drinks that were absolutely AMAZING! Our bartender and server, Jada, gave awesome drink and food recommendations...everything hit just right! We grabbed a bunch of appetizers to try and they included the smash burger bao bun, the pork belly Bao bun, the firecracker wings, and the sweet and sour spareribs. I can't find a thing I didn't like from our appetizer list! I had the Shoyu Paitan (chicken ramen) and it was spicy and flavorful from start to finish! You can really tell that this business is run well and staff members care about customers and their experience. We ended our meal with the Ube banana pudding that our server Jada recommended, and it was awesome! We will be returning to enjoy the vibe, the food and the service!

Herbed edamame

I went here for dinner on a cold winter day and it was great. I loved the decor, a modern Asian feel. Our server was friendly. The main star was the food of course. I never knew I could love edamame like that lol. I couldn't stop eating them. I also got the pho king and it was delicious. I really wanted to try the banana pudding but was too full. However, I'll definitely be back to try it.

Pho King Brisket
Rachel B.

We love going to Mecha Noodle Bar and sitting at the bar for dinner and a drink. The bar tenders are really friendly. Most recently, we both ordered different Pho dishes. They were delicious. I loved the Pho King with brisket. The meat was very tender. The portion is large, so we both took some to go. We also did sake bombs at the bar with friends, and that was a lot of fun.

Limeade
Emily K.

I decided to hit Mecha as my final Restaurant Week meal and the lunch was incredible! $25 for an app, entree, and drink was a steal. I tried the house limeade which was excellent. For my app I had the Korean fried chicken bao. The bun was so soft and fluffy and the crispy chicken was perfect with the pickled veggies. Only one piece per order but I certainly did not leave hungry! I tried the coconut curry laksa as well which was really good. I wish the fried tofu had a little more crisp/seasoning but it was a solid dish overall! The noodles were also really great. I had leftovers for another meal so they definitely do not skimp on portions! My service was good, I had multiple people check in on me. I'd definitely return here to try more noodles!

Spicy tuna hand roll
Jazmin A.

Solid spot for some ramen and pho, and other eats like hand rolls or bao buns. I came in and did a spicy tuna hand roll, it was quite tasty and the perfectly sized appetizer I needed. For the ramen, I got the spicy miso 2.0. It was a good bowl of ramen. Not my favorite bowl of ramen ever, but it was tasty. Staff was attentive and quick to check in with me. They seem to have a good cocktail selection and a nice bar if you even want to just do drinks here. Atmosphere is reminiscent of a ramen place in Japan, except way bigger!

It's a basement bar with a bit of a dive vibe, but it's hard to ignore the nautical, blue crab theme throughout. Turns out that one of the owners is a Marylander, which is cool to see reflected in the decor in a place in dc, even though it is next door. They have a happy hour and they have a great variety of drinks in general. It's bring-your-own-food (BYOF) and there are a bunch of delicious looking Asian spots nearby, including upstairs. It didn't start getting crowded until closer to 10, which, as I said, is surprising for this part of town to me. Everywhere in Chinatown is not going to be packed and busy, and this place is here to remind you of that. Stop by if you're looking for a more chill vibe. Staff are pretty cool.

For $45 per person, the all-you-can-eat experience feels like a really solid deal considering how many protein options and side dishes you get. They start you off with a variety of banchan (side dishes), including a salad with this super tasty dressing that had the perfect little spicy kick. For the BBQ, we kicked things off with the spicy bulgogi and butter garlic shrimp, while the others tried the pork belly (I don't eat pork). Later we ordered the steak, spicy brisket, and grilled squid, which were all delicious. The spicy brisket especially was a standout for me. The guys also ordered two rounds of fried dumplings that looked amazing, but since they contain pork, I had to sit those out. I'd love to see Chadol add a veggie dumpling option to the menu! As for the sides, the kimchi and cold glass noodles were both hits at our table, and of course we all added white rice. The "mashed potatoes" though? Definitely more like potato salad and unfortunately very bland. On the other hand, the cheese corn costs extra but is 1000% worth adding. For drinks, the guys enjoyed the Woody Old Fashioned while I had a mezcal margarita-style cocktail that was smoky and refreshing. We also ordered one of the chicken options but never received it and eventually just gave up on it. One of the coolest parts of the experience is the ordering system. Most meats are ordered directly from a machine at your table, and the food comes out quickly on this conveyor belt-style setup which was honestly so fun. Drinks and side dishes are ordered through the servers. The atmosphere was lively and energetic without feeling overwhelming. The restaurant is actually much larger inside than I expected, with a modern setup that works well for smaller groups. That said, I didn't really notice tables for larger parties, so I'm not sure how they accommodate groups bigger than 6 people. Service started off a little rough because our server wasn't very attentive, but after I called it out, he definitely stepped it up and things improved. Overall, Chadol was a really good experience and absolutely worth the price. The 1.5-hour seating limit makes sense too, both to keep things moving and give others a chance to enjoy the experience. I'd definitely go back!
