Let's start with location. Could miss it if you didn't know it was there. Make sure you don't miss it if you enjoy ramen. Got there on a Friday evening and there was a wait. You signed in on a screen near the register. You'll get a text when your table is ready. Waited maybe 15 mins. There's not really space to wait inside so they have you wait outside. There's no benches or chairs for waiting unless I missed it, so we just waited near our car. We ordered gyoza and they had to be the best I've tried. Flavor was good. Cooked perfectly. I would order this again and again. I had the spicy miso ramen and it was good. Just enough spice to enjoy. Staff was welcoming and attentive.
The restaurant was nice and we were greeted with a smile and great initial service. Ramen was delicious although I am spoiled with other options like chicken or steak or shrimp. Only pork and tofu. Requested waters - had to go ask for them; ordered apple juice had to remind them. Once the ramen was dropped off every thing else had to catch a passing person or go back to the front. Including the check. It was a good experience but not great.
We stopped by for lunch with some friends and were added to the waitlist, with about a 10-15 minute wait. The restaurant was nice and clean, and we were seated fairly quickly. We ordered the pork buns, gyoza, tonkatsu ramen, and the bulgogi rice bowl; everything was delicious. The ramen was especially a hit with my daughter; it was very flavorful. The only minor downside was that we wished the staff had checked on us a bit more, but it was fairly busy and there seemed to be only a couple of servers working. Overall, it's a solid ramen spot and worth checking out if you're in the area.
The staff were super friendly from the moment I walked in. Multiple staff checked on me to make sure I was doing well while eating. I saw the ramen on top 100 in US so I had to try. The blackjack ramen was ok, not much flavor despite all the things in it. The chasu was not as tender or flavorful. The pork buns flavor was decent but meat to bun ratio was small. It's a nice environment inside and clean.
Is Ramen Ya the best ramen in the Baltimore area? I'd argue so. I've had so many options here and never had a bad experience. Even the veggie ramen is exceptional. You owe it to yourself to visit.

The rectangular dining room is an efficient layout in which the kitchen in the front of house can deliver the food. Beverages are housed in a glass upright cooler in the front. Suggest bringing a hoody or sweater inside in Jan and Feb because It can get cold inside. Probably because It looks like the building is a former fast food or Pizza Hut type place with lots of glass. The ramen is authentic and great. The service is great too.
The ramen here is phenomenal! This is my first time here. I tried the tonkotsu ramen which was so rich in flavor. It comes with an egg and 4 pieces of chashu which was so so tender. It literally melts in your mouth! My friend got the black jack which has garlic oil which was also good. The wait on a Wednesday evening was about 30-40 minutes wait, but it was so worth it. It's a cozy restaurant inside. You can also see them making the ramen from scratch at the window.
I have to update my review to say RamenYa listened and they leveled up. During my recent visit, my bowl was so rich in flavor and filled to the brim. One slurp after another, each packed with delicious morsels and noodles. Oishi, it remains to be top ramen spot in the area! Service is friendly and cleanliness is excellent. gochisousama, RamenYa.
Worthy of a wait. We gas to wait a bit to get seated but it was definite worth it. It was crowded even at 7:30pm. We got a table and ordered a variety of ramen to try several different kinds. The curry was amazing. The spicy was good but not overly spicy. The black was good and the regular tonkatsu was good.
Ramen Ya is a small place in comparison to their popularity. What seems to be an old Pizza Hut has been transformed into a casual ramen eatery. The BLACK JACK RAMEN was fantastic! The pork was tender, well seasoned and surprisingly lean. Often you get more fat than meat with Chashu, but here it was the exact opposite. At least that was my experience. Both the broth and boiled egg (Ajitsuke Tamago) were very flavorful and the noodles were somewhat al dente. Best of all, pricing was reasonable and service was excellent. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meal. Well deserving of their current 4.6 star rating!

The ramen here was delicious, you can even watch them make it fresh! I got the Black Tonkotsu and some sake, which came packaged in a cup. It was different from what I'm used to when ordering sake, but everything was delicious. I'm most definitely coming back once the weather cools down!
I've been told to go here for years and I finally listened! This is a very unique experience. I'm references to like 5 to 9 dishes. You're going to get pork or vegetarian basically. No chicken options. This is a nice place to get a spicy traditional style ramen. I did a black garlic dish and no regrets. I must say I prefer more modification options, but love that this place sticks to more tried and true options. You can get away with maybe one large group, but mostly 2 seater options with a couple of bench options. The service was fairly quick.
I waited a while to be seated on a Saturday afternoon and decided on blackjack ramen. I wish thrrr were descriptions of the components of the ramen on the menu bc I had no idea what I was getting. Ramen was tasty but actually much more flavorful the next day after flavors melded with much more intensity! I'd definitely go back but for takeout.

A very tasty quick bite - while the restaurant is very cute and aesthetic we picked up for takeout but would absolutely come back to dine-in. They are busy, justifiably so, so prepare accordingly. Hot, fresh, delicious and filling. Service is great even whether you're waiting for a seat or throughout your visit. Decor is simple yet elegant and appropriate. Definitely recommend a visit and you will be hooked. read more

I forgot to take a photo before I was halfway done, it was too good not to dig in immediately! The ramen is amazing with an amazing price point. I personally got the regular tonkatsu ramen. When we come back, I'd probably like the spicy ramen better. Service was great and quick. read more
It's a clean, comfortable, spacious restaurant. Service is pretty fast. The food was flavorful, spicy - but not overly so - and both dishes were really good. This place isn't fancy but it the food is good and you'll leave full. read more

This is still my go to spot for Ramen. The curry Ramen is top notch. Over the years I have seen them become skimpy on the portions of noodles and they have also decreased the amount of broth given. The normal portion is now a half portion. It's disappointing to see a place I and been supporting since they opened start to cut corners and also increase the price charged for the smaller portion. Because of this I don't go as often. I didn't see the original gentleman there anymore, makes me wonder if he sold the business, which would make sense for all of the changes to the portions. It's still the best Ramen around because of the broth and the homemade noodles. Here's hoping they stay with making the noodles fresh. read more

This was my first time at Ramen ya. They were packed so I knew I was in the right spot. They gave us a buzzer and told us that it would be about a 40 minute wait so we waited in the car. And it was worth it!! We ordered the gyoza and shrimp shumai as appetizers. It was my first time tasting shrimp shumai--it has a soft texture. The ramen was phenomenal!!! FYI: They have straight noodles, not the curly noodles but it was delicious! I ordered the spicy tonkotsu because I tend to keep it basic haha. It was very flavorful. My boyfriend ordered the blackjack which is a combo of spicy tonkotsu and a black garlicky oil. He also added corn. I tasted his and it was so good too! This place is small but the flavors are large!! We'll definitely be back again. read more
Came here with my daughter at 7:50 on a Friday night, and there was a 40 minute wait with folks crowded around the door! The wait was about 40 - went grocery shopping next door during it. Service was efficient and food came out quickly. We think this is definitely some of the best ramen in this area. I'm a little biased because I had ramen 2 weeks ago in CA, which always sets my standard. I had spicy miso, daughter had spicy tonkatsu. Hers was a little better, mine could have had more miso flavor. Overall though glad to find this place! Come early or buy your groceries during the wait! read more

Overall: excellent ramen, small menu, all sorts of drinks, nostalgic ambiance in an old Pizza Hut, but the service was incredibly slow We got there at 4:45 on a Saturday and there was already a wait. We waited a long time to be seated. The servers were kind, but super slow and there was so much time between each time they came to us. For example, was probably 10-15 minutes between when they dropped off the check and picked up our cards to run them. The food was incredible though. Definitely the best ramen I've had in Maryland. It was cool that they make the noodles homemade and in a glass room so you could watch it from where you eat. My family got three different broths and they were all delicious. I loved that I could order a basic one for my toddler and not have to pick out all of the stuff he doesn't like. He crushed it. The curry was the perfect amount spicy and savory. read more
It was totally strange to see people lined up before its open. Food served shortly after we ordered. They were very busy and the placed filled up completely in a moment. They put special fried garlic in their ramen bowl and it gave us a unique ramen flavor that we had never had before at other ramen places. I had Blackjack and it was so good as they make their own ramen noodle there and the fresh ramen noodle taste and texture was awesome. read more
summary: ramenya is one of the best tasting ramen shops in the area, but I do feel like it's somewhat a victim of its own success. Depending on what time you go, you can face long waits and spotty service, but otherwise a location to check out for sure. the food: there are tons of different types of ramen available with lots of different topping options as well. From what I gathered, everything is delicious too. The menu keeps it relatively simple (in a good way). The broth had great depth, flavor, and balance. The noodles had a good chew/spring to them (and built on location; you can see them make it from a window in the building). And the chashu meat is to die for. the ambiance: I think this is kind of where the limitations start to present itself. The building appears to be an old pizza hut location and there's not too much seating available. It's not uncommon for there to be a long wait list to get seated depending on when you go, so choose wisely. There's not much to look at from a decor-standpoint, but it does have a home-y ramen shop vibe, so I don't mind it especially since the food is so good. the service: not sure if it's understaffed or the system they have in place, but it was hard to get servers to come to our table at times. For what it's worth, everyone was very nice, but it definitely felt busy. From order to table, our food probably took about 40 minutes to arrive. ramenya is definitely a place to check out especially if you're into noodles, but my recommendation would be to go during off hours or find a good friend to wait in line for you to get a table. read more

Ordered the Tonkotsu with extra egg and it was absolutely delicious. The most flavorful broth I've ever had and all the flavors absolutely merried together perfectly. This is an absolute comfort food that you just want to sit around eating while watching snow fall. The eggs are delicious.. the umami after taste is *chefs kiss*. We had the pork buns and shumai-- also very delicious! Service was great as well! I will be back and tell others as well read more
This was, hands down, delicioso! The Spicy Tonkatsu ramen was great. I had two bowls, well one there and one to go. The pork was excellent along with the shoyu egg. I was very impressed with the quality of ramen. The flavor is excellent and the noodles don't taste like cardboard. I paired it with the premium Hakushika "Tanuki" Junmai Cup 14.5% sake which will sneak up on ya... I am pretty sure the sake and that hearty bowl of ramen was the reason for my 4 hour mid day nap because the "itis" was real!!lol I was told that it gets quite busy with long waits in the early evening when they reopen after lunch time, but at lunch it was a smooth sailing production with things and guests moving rather quickly. Small, cozy spot with a great atmosphere. Expect a bit of a wait, but it's worth it. The ramen was amazing, the gyoza was great, and the green tea ice cream was a perfect finish. I liked it so much I went two days in a row. Highly recommend! read more

I have had an urge to try a place that serves really good ramen, and since we were in the neighborhood, we stopped in. It was a little tricky to find. It looks like a Pizza Hut, repainted and customized to their specs. Once inside, the furnishings are basic wood. The drink order was very quick. Our server explained the ramen dishes on the 1 page menu. My husband chose the Black Tonkotsu, and I had the Tonkotsu ramen. All their soups are pork based, don't ask for chicken or beef, they just don't do that. In 5 short min, our soups arrived, very hot. The flavors were incredible, a pure culinary delight. Plus, their noodles are homemade! The pork in the soup was delightfully seasoned. They also have a very active takeout service along with a steady flow of customers . Very pleasant staff, just the right amount of attention. read more
