    Beef Teriyaki

This is a hidden gem out here in Columbia. This is tucked away in a smaller strip, so you'll only find it if you search for it. My family and I came in for dinner to celebrate a birthday. Upon arrival, I was shocked to see how packed it was, but that was telling of how good their food is. There were a lot of birthdays being celebrated that evening, and it was a Wednesday. They had a private room available, but there is a food minimum and you have to take your shoes off (floor table set up). Though we were offered the option, we decided to just sit in the main area since we were coming with a few older family members and didn't want them to struggle to put shoes back on later and they prefer sitting in chairs. They have sushi, teriyaki, platters and combination dishes. We all had something different, ordering from the combination options, teriyaki and some sushi on the side. Since we all ordered a special, it came with miso soup and salad. The food was brought out in a staggered manner - three out of the five of us got our food before the others, and they almost finished half of their dish before ours even came out. I had the beef teriyaki and I was shocked to see that it was a large piece of beef, and we were given knives to cut it up. I am used to the meats being already cut up, so this was different. The food was still good though! I will say that I wish there were more broccoli, than bean sprouts accompanying the meat - the dish was still delicious though! The chunk of meat was so large that I actually had leftovers to bring home as a second meal. The sushi was impressive. Not only was the selection so large and I wanted to order every single one of the special rolls (but I didn't because my eyes tend to be bigger than my stomach), they use all fresh ingredients. The shumai was unimpressive, but because everything else was good, I didn't really mind it. I feel like my rice bowl was not full, as most restaurants pack the rice into the bowl; whereas I felt like there were air pockets in mine so there was a little less. To my surprise, they had a decent dessert menu: several ice cream options, variety of mochi and a few cake selections. Because they knew we were celebrating a birthday, they surprised us with a large scoop of vanilla ice cream, topped with different cookies to share! It came out with a sparkler, and the employees singing along to a soundtrack played on the speakers. This really made my sister feel so special, and as I said before, it seemed like most of the larger parties there were also celebrating a birthday that evening. Delicious food, friendly service, easy parking and fun atmosphere!

Sushi King has been around for a few decades. I've been coming here for more than 20 years, and this lovely place hasn't changed a bit. The owner and staff are always friendly and welcoming. Their sushi is the best in Howard County, everything is freshly made with the highest-quality ingredients. I've never had a disappointing meal here. If you're looking for cozy dining that feels like visiting a friend's home for a meal, this is the place.

Sushi King really impressed us with its sushi quality--it's easily one of the better sushi spots in Howard County. While it's on the slightly pricier side, you definitely get what you pay for. The fish was fresh, beautifully presented, and flavorful, and the sushi boat we ordered was both visually stunning and totally worth it in terms of taste and variety. If you're a sushi lover looking for quality without going full fine dining like Takumi (which is nearly double the price), Sushi King hits the sweet spot. The service was top-notch, with friendly, attentive staff who made us feel welcome from the start. It's also surprisingly kid-friendly, which can be hard to find at sushi restaurants. The atmosphere was casual yet polished--perfect for a family dinner or a nice night out. We'll definitely be back for another round of rolls (and maybe another sushi boat)!

So for my first review of March 2025! I will have to come back again when I'm in the area to give them the full monty...but for starters and a 4 stars they are doing really well in my book. Now I am a sushi connoisseur (I tell myself anyways) and love to try sushi in many different types of atmospheres. I've been to many places and how I test if I would come back is I like to order a reasonable easy common roll. So if they get that roll wrong I know it's not up to snuff... So to start the restaurants is in a typical strip mall building that you would miss if you wasn't paying attention. Now I was coming here hungry then a mug so I'm so glad I gave them a chance. Don't judge a book for its cover right? When I walked in I was greeted quickly and decided since I was dining by myself I would sit at the bar so I can take in the entire restaurant. He gave me a menu and asked for my drink order. I just got water with lemon to start while I browsed over the menu. My server at first kind of rubbed me the wrong way because after I made my order she took the menu so quickly from me I didn't have time to even take a picture of it. I ordered my usual sushi rolls when I'm eating the first time at a sushi place...salmon and scallion add cream cheese, yellowtail and scallion add cream cheese, and decided to upgrade to tuna belly. My sushi came out quickly and was so good! I also ordered a Mai tai and a Riesling and I tell you both drinks were on point! If I'm in Columbia again I will definitely come back! Sushi was fresh and drinks on point! Go give them a try!

I loved my dinner at Sushi King! We were greeted within 5 minutes of sitting down. We ordered some classics (shrimp tempura, cucumber, and spider roll) and special (Samaria roll). They were all good and tasted TOP QUALITY/FRESH! I love the ambiance, it's definitely a Mom and Pop shop and felt so warm/welcoming. The waitresses came around multiple times to ask us if we were okay. They seem to have a lot of regulars - so that's a very good sign. We also indulged in the fried banana with sesame ice cream. It's the perfect ending to the meal. Also - I freaking love these napkins. Yall had to get a glimpse of the set up. It doesn't close till 10pm, which is nice considering other local restaurants close earlier. I would definitely revisit again and recommend for you bring someone in try!

I LOVE Sushi King! The owners are always there and treats all of us like family. I don't know if the mom of the owner works there but sometimes she'll come sit with us and we'll just talk and catch up haha. We always get such a warm and great greeting upon arrival. They seem so genuinely happy to see us. The ambiance of the facility is amazing chill and relaxed and they have a special Japanese room you can eat in but you have to order at least $150 worth of food. It's especially nice for a special occasion. I always order the Baltimore, Holiday, Snow White, and dynamite roll with UME wine. I highly recommend this sushi spot! I love sushi king so much!

My kid was so happy on this place, the food was amazing!

Outstanding sushi, service, and ambiance here, in a very nondescript little business park in Columbia.

    Vegetarian sushi

Solid and reliable Japanese restaurant with reasonable prices. Service was very polite and efficient. We shared a roll combination entree (tekka, Alaskan and California rolls) and a vegetarian sushi plate. Both came with salad, which was very fresh with a ginger miso dressing. The sushi rice was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The tekka (tuna) and salmon (in the Alaskan roll) was also fresh. The vegetarian sushi had the usual kanpyo, cucumber and avocado selections, but also had inari (tofu skin), seaweed and avocado. Appreciated that it has vegetarian sushi with varied flavors and vegetable items (not all Japanese restaurants offer it).

We picked the middle tier option. We thought it was a little pricey but the quality of meats was very good. And the amount of food you get was really a lot and this is coming from a heavy hitter at AYCE restaurants. They also included dessert. I only wish they allowed for AYCE options AND à la carte options, like Gyuzo Japanese BBQ in Rockville. It turns out they're owned by the same company. You must come very hungry to get your money's worth.

My second time here…read more I do really like this area of Columbia and realize that I want to hang out here more often. When you arrive at the restaurant, the hostess greets you and ask if you have a reservation. Both times I've been here, it wasn't too busy but it was during the week. Service is really good. They're always very helpful in explaining the menu. We went with the AYCE Master option. The Legend option with the Wagyu looks appealing but I can't justify spending $88 a person. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem spending the money, since most of it goes to alcohol when we're having dinner anyways, but it was a really nice experience. This would be a place I would bring friends from out of town who want to have an experience similar what you would find NYC or Vegas. We had a really good time, especially on $10 margaritas and all you can eat meat. The presentation is really wonderful and I love the thought behind the presentation when it comes out. The Wagyu Fried Rice and Curry is one of the bests I've ever had. And the scallops with butter on the grill were awesome. Definitely a favorite. I will add the the iPad that you order with will start a timer for 90 minutes, and you can only put in an order every ten minutes which was annoying, so I did feel a bit of pressure with ordering. The time limit is to control time spent which makes sense if it was busy. I would have given 5 stars if it weren't for the wet mop smell we had during dinner, but don't know if it is because it was hot out and the AC was not blasting high enough with all the grills going off, so it was kind of hot and sticky during dinner. I may come back next time to check out Happy Hour next time! Vibes are actually pretty cool. Service is great.

Fast, Affordable, Good and Clean Enough for a Cut…read more You know how hard it is on a cut - you get sick of all the chicken breast, greek yogurt, but eating out is almost impossible. I've been here twice, and I think it's a very fast, affordable, tasty and pretty clean option for those cutting. First time I came, dude in front of me was clearly also either maintaining or cutting, and he gave me the low down. I ordered to his advice, and it's solid. I get the chicken and shrimp teryaki, no rice all vegetables, and decline the extra scoop of teryaki sauce and the cup of mayonnaise sauce they offer. I do put a bit of their hot sauce package on the veg. I went ahead and measured my meal today. This is all short order cooked, so they aren't measuring the portions or anything; there's going to be variations, but in my meal I got 2.6 oz shrimp, 6 oz chicken, and a 12.8 oz veg. The veg is a pretty even mix of cabbage, brocooli, and carrot. They grill the veg really well - it's not crispy raw, but also not wilted to death; almost an al dante. I'm really not a cabbage guy, but I enjoy eating this cabbage. I swagged the whole thing as 660kcal/61g which may be a little conservative, but I'd rather overestimate cals and underestimate protein than the other way around. They DO grill in oil, so it's not going to be as clean as making at home on the gas grill, but still wildly better than 99% other quick options. They are so fast there there's no point to calling ahead - I've been here twice and each time waited about 60 seconds for my food. Everything is packaged to go, but they have plenty of seats to sit down at. Very affordable. I'm stroked to have a clean food option while I'm on the road, and one that's super fast and affordable. I'll be back for sure.
