Great for takeout and sit in. They have fun speciality rolls with a good share of raw fish which I love. For a part of 2, would recommend the sushi for 2. As you can see in the photo, it is a good array of nigiri, a spicy tuna roll, and then a specialty roll selected by the chef.

Great quality of food and service! We will come back for another occasion. It's a local restaurant we are happy that we tried for the date night out.

This place is amazing, the fish is so fresh, the staff are the kindest most welcoming loving people ever. I love how peaceful it is in there as well, there can be 20 or more people and it's still calm. I highly recommend this place if you are wanting to try an affordable and delicious restaurant. I also found them very accommodating when I told them I had celiac, bringing me gluten free soy sauce and making sure there was no cross contamination ,and did not get sick.

The short: Katana Sushi has okay food with a giant menu ranging from sushi and other Japanese dishes to a few Thai dishes as well. I find it to be a bit of a "Jack of all Trades" situation where although they offer a lot of options, it's not really done all too impressively. Katana feels more like a takeout location than a dine-in option, but if you do decide to eat here, they have a decent-sized location with ample seating. If you were looking for a romantic/classy vibe for a get-together or a date, I think there are better options out there for sushi/Asian. The service was okay and our waitress was nice and accommodating. That being said, if you're looking for a quick bite or a to-go order, it hits the spot. The food isn't bad, it just kinda feels rushed together and the ingredients don't feel like the best quality. The dishes had decent flavor, but it left me expecting a bit more considering the prices still reflected a premium quality. All in all, it's a decent spot. It's not my first choice in the area when it comes to Asian cuisine (Sushi Q, Sushi Sono, Sushi King come to mind), but it's convenient and quick.

Excellent take out and an okay place to eat at. I've enjoyed lots of take out from Katana. I love their miso, the sushi, chicken and shrimp teriyaki, bento boxes, and panang curry. The prices are a little steep but the serving sizes are big. I was not impressed with the ambiance though. Everything was sticky and I was expecting things to be a little nicer with those prices. We were the only people in the place. Our waitress was nice though and the food came out very quickly.

Overall decent. Prices are reasonable, sushi has a good ratio of fish to rice, and the edamame is amazing. My biggest knock is that the spicy tuna roll with crunch I ordered was neither crunchy nor spicy. The plus is that we were able to get delivery when there weren't a ton of other options, and will likely order again in the future. It won't become my go to for sushi, but it can stay in the rotation.

My kids & I love this establishment. The owners are extremely professional and very courteous. They actually know us by our first names and love to strike up a good conversation. Some of our favorites: -Mango Martini -House lo mein (spicy) -Teriyaki steak served with veggies, potatoes and rice -Pan fried gyoza (dumplings) -Wonton soup ( made with real chicken breast) -Fried rice -chicken noodle soup This is more like a Asian fusion restaurant as they serve Thai, Chinese and Japanese cuisine.

I'm leaving my original 4 star review from a few weeks ago below--because those are my real thoughts about my first visit. Unfortunately, this visit was not the case. I've written nearly 200 reviews, never ever found anything in my food that shouldn't be there. I worked in a restaurant for six years and would never ever be the type of person to lie for free things. I preface this because I was not intially believed when I let them know I found a rubber band inside of my spring roll. Look accidents totally happen! I get that, but on the phone the girl kept reinforcing that they "do not have rubber bands so not sure how that could've gotten in there". This is my most local sushi spot & as you can tell below, it is very good! But this response was disappointing. Upon arrival they were then very apologetic and kind and I assured them it was okay things do happen and they gave an extra spring roll. But my cooked sushi at home is now just sitting while I ran back. For this reason, I'll probably never be back. While I appreciate the extra spring rolls, when I'm spending $26 (with tip, because I always am sure to tip carry out) on a meal, I expect to be treated like I'm not out to get anything from them aside from a nice dining experience. MY ORIGINAL REVIEW-- This place is delicious and local which I love! I ordered through the Yelp app (which uses Grubhub) & drove over to pick it up. They have it set up so you can't enter the restaurant, which personally I appreciate. My order was ready when I arrived and the host was SO sweet. I had the Phoenix roll and it was so so good. Also had the veggie spring rolls and those were very good as well. My brother had the miso soup, Cali roll & a spicy tuna with crunch and really liked all of his!! He said he would get it again and even try some special rolls. I absolutely will be back. Glad an aweslocal sushi place is nearby!

This place has very good sushi! My first time ordering and I already want to order it again this week. It's so fresh and the rolls were stunning. It hit the spot and satisfied my sushi craving. Good prices and tons of options to choose from- from sushi hand rolls to specialty rolls to Japanese to Chinese. Give it a try!

Solid meal, friendly service, with a few nitpicks. details: We went on a pretty quiet Monday afternoon to grab a sushi (and more) dinner. There were hardly any people for context. There's a bar (by the sushi making station), tables, and booths to sit. Plenty of seating. The ambiance is kind of modern with familiar touches of an Asian/Japanese dining experience. There's TVs everywhere, which I assume would be playing sports/news (but there weren't any games happening at that time). That's where my nitpick actually is. I don't think they monitor this very closely and so there were a few explicit songs and videos playing at the time we were there. It wasn't anything hardcore or anything, but something to be cognizant about if you're going with little ones. The food was solid. Things did take a little longer than what I expected considering how quiet the place was when we were there. However, things did taste fresh and made to order, so I'm guessing/assuming the time went to make things fresh which is definitely nice. All the food we ordered was well balanced with flavor and cooked well. The sushi menu felt a bit more on the Americanized side for me. e.g. there's lots of rolls with cream cheese and mayo type of sauces. But, what we did order was very tasty. Positive experience all around and I would recommend checking out if you're in the area and in the mood for some Japanese cuisine.

Perfect crunch the sauces were yummy and the fried rice was good too! Sushi was good. Good prices too. So good I was saying i was definitely coming back for more and was abt to order the Jessup roll...and then THE BAD AND UGLY happened:I arrived around 9:06 PM. For context, the restaurant closes at 10 P. My original server was a very kind young lady Who served with a smile. Around 930 My original server was busy, so I called to the next one that I saw. She acknowledged me with an annoyed look then started mumbling something under her breath that I could not understand. I chose to ignore it. I asked for one more sushi roll and a cup of water. (After that i was going to leave) With an attitude and very aggressively she says "OK ok Jessup roll and a cup of water. What else?" Girly pop was VERY obviously annoyed and taking it out of me...a customer. I wasn't rude nor did i have an attitude until then. Had she said that "Unfortunately the sushi bar is closed and we're not taking any more Orders." I would've understood. However, she turned around and walked to the register, still talking angrily under her breath. So I told her to cancel my order and have someone else bring the check. I do not want her to come back to my table. She STILL came back over trying to offer some stale ass store bought cheesecake. I told her I don't want it to get out of my face. I don't like rudeness. Especially if it's unwarranted. I am a very kind person. I'm usually not rude to people, especially service staff because I know what they go through. But this girl and her nasty attitude pulled me out of my character this evening. I ALWAYS leave a tip for my server, but i was too focused on the rude girl and forgot to leave one for my original server. She was very very sweet and tried to check on me and i appreciate it. I'm sorry your coworker messed up your tip. Maybe rude girl needs to learn from her. Be kind. Being rude gets you nowhere. I doubt I'll ever go back.

The restaurant blends modern and traditional Japanese design and occupies the former space where a coffee shop once stood. There is ample free parking outside, though Friday evenings in this part of Columbia are notoriously busy. Food -- Thoughtfully presented, visually appealing, and made with fresh ingredients. Seafood Miso Soup -- A large bowl filled with whole fresh clams, scallops, shrimp, and green onion. A very generous portion--so much so that she brought some home to enjoy later. Salmon Skin Salad -- Pieces of salmon skin ranging from crispy to slightly chewy, mixed with cucumber, fish roe, spicy mayo, and eel sauce. A delicious combination. Signature Maki - "Maryland" Roll -- Beautifully presented with blue crab, shishito peppers (mild and slightly sweet), Old Bay-torched salmon, spicy mayo, and rice pearls. Both friends quickly devoured theirs. Prices felt somewhat higher than typical mall fare, but the freshness of the ingredients and attention to detail made it worthwhile. The entire staff we encountered were engaging and genuinely seemed happy to be there for their guests. A big nod to management for making hospitality an important part of the dining experience. One minor suggestion: the attractive menus could use periodic checks, as a few pages appeared a bit worn. I would happily recommend a visit--perhaps on a less hectic day so you can enjoy the décor and food at a more relaxed pace. There is also an outdoor patio that will be especially appealing once the warmer weather returns.

My family and I came in for dinner to celebrate a birthday. Upon arrival, I was shocked to see how packed it was, but that was telling of how good their food is. There were a lot of birthdays being celebrated that evening, and it was a Wednesday. They had a private room available, but there is a food minimum and you have to take your shoes off (floor table set up). Though we were offered the option, we decided to just sit in the main area since we were coming with a few older family members and didn't want them to struggle to put shoes back on later and they prefer sitting in chairs. They have sushi, teriyaki, platters and combination dishes. We all had something different, ordering from the combination options, teriyaki and some sushi on the side. Since we all ordered a special, it came with miso soup and salad. The food was brought out in a staggered manner - three out of the five of us got our food before the others, and they almost finished half of their dish before ours even came out. I had the beef teriyaki and I was shocked to see that it was a large piece of beef, and we were given knives to cut it up. I am used to the meats being already cut up, so this was different. The food was still good though! I will say that I wish there were more broccoli, than bean sprouts accompanying the meat - the dish was still delicious though! The chunk of meat was so large that I actually had leftovers to bring home as a second meal. The sushi was impressive. Not only was the selection so large and I wanted to order every single one of the special rolls (but I didn't because my eyes tend to be bigger than my stomach), they use all fresh ingredients. The shumai was unimpressive, but because everything else was good, I didn't really mind it. I feel like my rice bowl was not full, as most restaurants pack the rice into the bowl; whereas I felt like there were air pockets in mine so there was a little less. To my surprise, they had a decent dessert menu: several ice cream options, variety of mochi and a few cake selections. Because they knew we were celebrating a birthday, they surprised us with a large scoop of vanilla ice cream, topped with different cookies to share! It came out with a sparkler, and the employees singing along to a soundtrack played on the speakers. This really made my sister feel so special, and as I said before, it seemed like most of the larger parties there were also celebrating a birthday that evening. Delicious food, friendly service, easy parking and fun atmosphere!
