i support businesses like this! i came in for happy hour take-out and decided to get the Da Bomb Roll, which is basically a combination between the California roll and the shrimp tempura roll. It had spicy mayo and eel sauce drizzled on top. I thought it was really yummy for the cost, which was two rolls for around $15. and I thought that the sushi quality was not the best, but it was good and for the cheap price. I think everything is fairly priced and I would definitely recommend checking this out for some cheap easy sushi eats. I got one of the specialty rolls and an udon soup. The place is fine and nice and the presentation of the food is good, but Japanese food is bland by design and it's really hard to make it spectacular. In essence, we have here moderate taste at a moderate price. If you're in the mood for sushi and this is your closest place, then it probably fills that niche. Ok so I did dinner pickup here tonight because my regular placed was closed (sushi sakura). I purchased the owings mills roll and it was ok but not really big on taste. Ingredients were lackluster and near tasteless and there were shells all through the crabmeat. There was not one single bite out of 8 rolls that I had that did not have a piece or multiple pieces of shell and a few visibly had shell showing when I looked at them before eating. Unacceptable. Especially because these are made by hand and whatever amateur made them would have felt any shells when constructing the rolls. I'm not happy but guess not surprised. Most of these sushi places are McDonald's level. I guess this is one of them. 2 stars for the wasabi. Was fresh and had the added bonus of clearing my sinuses and I think it grew my hair an inch. What I got was one order of tuna sushi 2 not the 8 sashimi, the white tuna sashimi was only five pieces instead of the eight, the smoke salmon again was only five pieces instead of the eight. Don't understand how they can get electronica order mixed up when you order three different kinds of Sashimi. So I went and double checked on the website and yeah so it's correct it also shows eight pieces. I don't know what that idiot Monica J is talking about. To be honest, this is one of the best sushi restaurants Owings Mills has to offer. Anyone that eats only rolls for sushi really doesn't have the palate to judge sushi. Fish: I always start with sake since it's the easiest to judge. The fish was fresh. There wasn't a slimey texture like some places. Then I had the saba. The saba was perfectly salted and wasn't gamey like saba gets when left out for too long. Finally I had the ika. Ika in most restaurants is very slimey. However, the ika here had very good texture without the slime. The chef/owner also gave me a courtesy roll on the house but I was too full to finish it. Noodle soup: The soup on a cold day was one I could forever. The broth was very flavorful and had a nice spicy kick at the end. The udon noodles were cooked very well and complimented the soup which also had chunks of ny strip steak. Overall, I am very pleased with this restaurant. Did I mention they actually SERVE ALCOHOL??? Now there are only 2 sushi restaurants in Owings Mills that serve alcohol. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because there wasn't any uni :( read more

I tried this place for the first time yesterday, and I likely won't bother trying it again. My only regret was not taking pictures of the nigiri and rolls we received to truly capture how bad the fish was! I understand some places might be having a tough time getting supplies and product, but when you're in the sushi business you have a responsibility to ensure you are serving good quality, otherwise you're going to make people sick. The taste of every single thing we got, you could tell was very old and not fresh. It might very well be the worst sushi I've ever eaten. Sadly we had to throw almost all of it in the trash. Simply put, there are too many other sushi restaurants you should go with that obviously take more pride in what they're serving people. read more

This used to be my favorite lunchtime sushi restaurant. Always fast, always fresh, and friendly service. Today I ordered spicy salmon and a Philly roll. I ate the first couple of rolls and thought they tasted a little different. I wasn't too worried until I got about halfway through and one of the rolls was clearly not fresh. Basically half of my rolls had old fish inside. This is not on par with my previous experiences which is why there's an extra star. It's unfortunate because I couldn't even finish my lunch. Very solid place that you would miss if you didn't notice it. It's off the beaten path but well worth paying a visit. They have an extensive sushi menu and the prices are reasonable. Its very small and in a little shopping center. The dining area is very small with so I would not recommend it for a large group. The bar area is pretty small too and their alcohol selection is limited as far as beers go. They do have a good selection of saki if you are into that and a delicious Plum wine. It's a great spot for a date night in my opinion, A nice and intimate setting with little noise so you could have a decent conversation. Service was great as well. Don't let the 3.5 stars fool you into thinking this is a mediocre sushi place tucked away in Owings Mills. It's literally become one of my go-to restaurants. The best part is, they've added chicken wings to the menu. My boyfriend and I got to try some tonight, and they were delicious! They came out piping hot and crunchy. I think it was comparable to the chicken you might eat at BonChon or other Korean wing places. The sign out front does say that the chicken is marinated with milk, so if you have dairy allergies, you may want to steer clear. The spicy pork is delicious and generous in portion... as are most of the other entrees we've shared (that's right! shared!! We NEVER share entrees; that's how big their portions are!). It's hard to pick a favorite roll because there are so many, but I can definitely say that Da Bomb roll.... is da bomb. ;) read more

Very disappointing considering the reviews. The ambiance was not great with take out containers piled on the customer side of the sushi bar and on the seats. Salad was quite good with a dressing that I could not tell whether it was bottled or homemade, sadly this was the best part of the meal. Ordered the tuna tsunami appetizer which was very large (but should have been for ($13.95). The tuna was obviously pre-frozen and not that flavorful and the sauce was a bit watery and not at all spicy as described. The sashimi combo, at 15 pieces for $19.95 was a good deal and it actually came with close to 30 pieces, but sadly, it was the same pre-frozen tuna. Additionally, the yellow tail was not that fresh and neither was the salmon. Both had a fishy odor and were stringy. I did not bother to finish which is a first for me. read more

Having said that, all the reviews were pretty positive so I figured, im here let's give it a shot. I sat down and ordered a $6 yellowtail hand roll just to test the quality of the fish. It was beautiful to look at and quite delicious. Totally fresh (surprisingly given the run down look of the place). But I couldn't agree more with the comments about high service and great prices, happy hour till 9pm etc. Then i proceeded to order a to go order of yakisoba and a pink lady roll. Also came out looking fresh and delicious. The cooked food menu is quite limited. Overall, a place I'll return to, but it's weird, they don't have chicken hibachi only shrimp, steak, and lobster. The lobster is outrageously priced. I'd give it a 5, but the hand roll wasn't wrapped tight enough so it fell apart, the menu prices are all over the place, and the waitress added up my check on a calculator by hand.... In 2018. Food was good though. Put this place on your list, order the things you are willing to pay for and it will be delicious. Just don't let the details stress you out. Oh and if you are a ginger critic like me, you will appreciate that this is the true Ginger still pale in color and pickled slightly versus the nasty pink generic tasting garbage that some places serve. read more

I haven't been here in forever since I've moved towards the DC area, but whenever I do come back to this little town, I wouldn't mind stopping here for sushi. I use to frequent this place whenever I had the craving for sushi. It is, I think, the best there is around that area. The owner and staff there are super friendly! They ALWAYS give me a coupon to come back to visit them. I can't recall a minimum purchase in order to receive one of these, but they hand it out like candy. PLUS, they give you a complimentary roll as well! And it was not any plain ol' standard sushi roll, it was more on the special side. But I think the complimentary sushi varies though because I see some photos on here with different 'on the house' sushi. Which is awesome! I love surprises. :D The sushi here is delicious. I usually order the special rolls and not the standard California, Philadelphia, etc. The volcano roll is great. They've set a standard on how good a volcano roll should be for me. I went to a different place around my area and ordered a Volcano roll, and boy, was I disgusted. The amount of spice they had on the volcano roll was perfect. I can't recall any other rolls I had, but I do remember them being yummy. I did not get sick after eating all the sushi, so that's always a good sign.
