    Tonkatsu
    Emily H.

Ikkyu is inside Lotte's food court and is my favorite choice out of the 4 restaurants inside! Tonkatsu 10/10 - crispy, lots of sauce - comes with rice, pasta salad with cucumbers, a side salad, pickled yellow radish, and a small bowl of miso soup - they used to also give kimchi but I guess they updated the menu Once you order, they'll call your order name/number on the intercom once it's finished. Service is relatively quick!

I'd give them 3.5 stars! Decent katsu and udon for a reasonable price! A tonkatsu place inside Lotte market / food court. Ordered katsu set and was very satisfied with the portion and taste. Katsu is on the thinner side (wish it were thicker) but it was fried well and sauce was great. Udon soup was flavorful, though noodle could've been better (a little mush). Regardless, I was happy with my order! Order came out super fast too.

It was good! Good in a home cooked meal kind of way! To me, this isn't worth 15$. The pork was flavorless and overcooked. But the rice and curry were a 6/10 and the pasta salad was probably my favorite part of the meal. The women working were nice. The cafeteria serves as a place to eat but is quite desolate. You could take it home but it costs an extra $1 which I don't blame them for.

We have been eyeing this place for a long time since it is inside a Lotte supermarket. This is a food stall that is located inside the food court of Lotte. The meal we had were pretty enjoyable. Surprisingly, the complimentary crab salad is good and flavorful. The pork katsu we got were definitely on the saucier side and very flavorful. The beef bowl was yummy as well although it visually looked dry, it actually wasn't. The udon was okay, there wasn't anything mention worthy. It was typical udon with minimal toppings, but the broth was still flavorful. Since this is in a good court, it is self serve. They just give you your tray of food and you find seating within the food court. There are water dispenser by each food stall there in which you can get hot/cold water from. You just have to return the tray to the stalls that you ordered from though.

I would say this is the best restaurant out of those in the Lotte food court. I have tried dishes at the other ones and have been disappointed, but I have always left feeling satisfied after ordering from Ikkyu. I think my favorites here are the #13 (tonkatsu) and #4 (udon noodles in a hot stone pot). The udon noodles come with an egg, tofu, shrimp tempura, fish cake and assortment of veggies. It's definitely a lot of food. The only reason why I give it 4 stars instead of 5, is the side dishes that come with the tonkatsu are very inconsistent. Sometimes the kimchi tastes gross, whereas other times it's on point. Same with the miso soup; sometimes it literally tastes like warm water. Nonetheless, the main entrees have always been consistently yummy.

My friends and I all got the same thing: #7 - katsu and udon combo

This is small Japanese restaurant part of the Lotte grocery food court. Out of all of the food court restaurant options, this is the best one in my opinion. I recommend the #7 combo which is the Pork Katsu (deep fried cutlet) and Udon for under $10 which I have never seen anywhere else. I call that value in exchange for Mr. Alexander Hamilton. The portions are very generous unlike many Japanese restaurants. I have definitely had better Katsu and Udon at other restaurants but don't get me wrong, this was satisfying by all means. It also comes with a small side of rice and salad. They will also give you complementary kimchi upon request. If you're feeling something cheap and casual, but not fast food, this is the place to go (in the Ellicott City area). Taste: 8/10 Value: 5/5 Atmosphere: 3/5

I've been going here since I was a child and their food is great. There are four different food places that you can choose from in the Lotte Plaza and Ikkyu's Tonkatsu is my favorite! It comes with a side of this pasta salad and it's so good. It pairs really well with the tonkatsu itself. It also comes with a side of pickled radish. Their food court has a lot of tables and seating and each food court offers water cups for their customers! They'll take your order then call it out whenever it's ready. I love the atmosphere of the food court, it almost makes me feel like i'm in Korea.

Tonkatsu & Udon Combo (green tea purchased separately)

Inside of Lotte is this hidden gem within the food court. If I am in the area I always try to make a trip to Ikkyu :) Their portions are huge, I always order the Tonkatsu & Udon combo. It comes with a full serving of tonkatsu, salad, kimchee, a bowl of rice and a full size bowl of udon noodles... at $10 it is sucha steal for how much food you get! The tonkatsu is perfectly fried with plum sauce drizzled over it. The udon noodles broth tastes like how it should and they do not skimp on the noodles. I would be here everyday... if only I lived closer :( Ikkyu's location is great, especially if you need to grab some groceries... it is all in one place. Lotte shares a large parking lot with multiple retailers, parking generally is not an issue unless you go during peak times (weekends in the afternoon).

Tonkatsu has no air pocket in between the breading and pork meat.

I am surprised to taste the perfect shrimp and vegetable tempura as well as Tonkatsu, fried pork cutlet at this modest food stall in Lotte. The dipping sauce for tempura is a perfect harmony of slightly savory and sweet flavors. The crunchiness in both dishes are just right.

Didn't realize this place is inside Lotte as part of their food court. Got their tonkatsu which came with rice and the sauce was really good. The entire platter came with a good amount of meat, rice, salad, pasta salad, and miso soup for $9. Great value. Only reason for 4/5 stars is because the breading they had for the tonkatsu was very thick to which you can't really taste much of the meat. Overall still good value and tasty.

Bring your appetite for an expensive feast…read more Gyu San is an all-you-can-eat Japanese joint with a focus on bbq. Expect to pay a lot but in return, gain access to unlimited top tier meats from the land and sea. Gyu San offers three levels of dining. The entire table must have the same level, so talk to your other diners before ordering what level you'd like to go for: Basic gives you their lowest quality cuts of meat and a handful of seafood options and side dishes. This is great for people who want to get their money's worth, especially when pairing their meal with Gyu San's extensive alcoholic cocktail menu. Their middle level offers a larger variety of beef, pork, and seafood, and side dishes. The middle level also offers ramen. The ramen is good, but extremely filling, so I advise avoiding it. This level also includes a one order-per customer wagyu sampler. This is a MUST include to get your money's worth and it will be the highlight of your meal. One of the sides you can unlock at this level is wagyu burgers. While these burgers are great, with a spicy sauce that is fantastic, they sit in your stomach and make it harder to eat more of the unlimited BBQ. If you must try it, order one and split it among your table. The final and most expensive level opens up an all wagyu menu, taking the one-time sampler from the second level and giving you as much as you can handle. In addition, you'll get one order of five unique appetizers, each carefully crafted around high end seafood and wagyu. Each person at the table can also pay an extra $5 for all you can eat sushi, and their sushi is good. If you're ordering from the low tier meats, then adding sushi is worth it for adding variety and good values. For more money saving, you can become a member by asking your server or host, though its only worth it if you plan on coming to Gyu San more often. Gyu San is a high cost, high caloric, and highly flavorful meal experience, best left as an ultimate treat-your-self with friends and family.

Most of the menu is all you can with the prime cuts a 1 box per person selection I really enjoyed the visit and plan to go back. The cost are in 3 different tiers. I really didn't ask the difference. But went with the top end that was $100 per person.

The restaurant blends modern and traditional Japanese design and occupies the former space where a coffee shop once stood. There is ample free parking outside, though Friday evenings in this part of Columbia are notoriously busy. Food -- Thoughtfully presented, visually appealing, and made with fresh ingredients. Seafood Miso Soup -- A large bowl filled with whole fresh clams, scallops, shrimp, and green onion. A very generous portion--so much so that she brought some home to enjoy later. Salmon Skin Salad -- Pieces of salmon skin ranging from crispy to slightly chewy, mixed with cucumber, fish roe, spicy mayo, and eel sauce. A delicious combination. Signature Maki - "Maryland" Roll -- Beautifully presented with blue crab, shishito peppers (mild and slightly sweet), Old Bay-torched salmon, spicy mayo, and rice pearls. Both friends quickly devoured theirs. Prices felt somewhat higher than typical mall fare, but the freshness of the ingredients and attention to detail made it worthwhile. The entire staff we encountered were engaging and genuinely seemed happy to be there for their guests. A big nod to management for making hospitality an important part of the dining experience. One minor suggestion: the attractive menus could use periodic checks, as a few pages appeared a bit worn. I would happily recommend a visit--perhaps on a less hectic day so you can enjoy the décor and food at a more relaxed pace. There is also an outdoor patio that will be especially appealing once the warmer weather returns.

I got the chicken and shrimp combo. The salad was great. The soup is made with chicken and beef broth, so I couldn't have that. I would recommend getting the mushrooms over the shrimp side, mainly because it's just two more pieces of shrimp. I felt like they gave a good amount of food (I was struggling to finish) - sufficient mixed vegetables and fried rice. The shrimp and chicken were cooked very well. The food isn't particularly spicy, but I like the sauces. I'm sure you can ask for hot sauce if you'd like. The menu is pretty focused on the hibachi, so no sushi options. I just wish they also had option for yakisoba (noodles). Service: We had a large group for late lunch on Sunday and were seated immediately. Our server and chef were both great. Our chef had a solid balance of theatrics (we had some kids in our group) without delaying food service, which I feel like is important for hibachi. Ambiance: Overall, it's a nice & clean establishment. Great for a group dinner, families, special occasion etc. Sufficient parking in the plaza. Overall, I would recommend and I'll definitely be back.
