    Takoyaki

Service was kind and speedy. I only ordered takoyaki but it was fresh and tasty and the price was reasonable compared to other places. Would like to come back and try the ramen sometime.

The place looks very nice, clean, and the service is pretty good too.but the food isn't good. I ordered the shoyu and it didnt taste anything like other places. The pork was very thin, the broth was thin and had an odd smell and it was bland. And the noodles werent the best. The dumplings were ok and left alot to be desired. Overall, the dipping sauce was the most flavorable part. I didn't finish the bowl and didn't take the leftovers because they were terrible.

Miso Ramen (removed bean sprouts) = $12.49 + $1 for extra topping of bok choy (1.22.22)
    Carroll N.

1.22.22 Miso Ramen was very good. The pork broth and miso paste was flavorful, ramen was softer not al dente which I generally prefer. The portion was fairly small. I only got three slices of chasu. I asked my server if I could substitute the bean sprouts for bok choy. Not a huge deal, but it would have been courteous if she informed me that it was $1 extra for it. I saw on the menu that it cost $1 for extra toppings, but I considered it a substitute for the bean sprouts. I also purchased the Takoyaki, fried octopus pancake balls, as an appetizer. It was my first time trying it and I liked it. The ratio of octopus in each ball was inconsistent with some having more than others. In a few of them, I barely tasted or saw any octopus, unless it was cut really fine whereas in the others they were whole. Aesthetically, they were eyeing catching and beautifully presented. Had I not purchased this, I probably would have left still hungry. Service was good. The food didn't take long to prepare. I was there for a late lunch/early dinner around 4:15-4:30 so it wasn't super busy. The server was playing multiple roles so got to give her props. She welcomed guests, took the orders, served the food, and passed out the tabs. I dined alone, but had there been more than one server, she could have checked in with me, at minimum one time, to see if I needed anything. I enjoyed my bowl of ramen on this cold January day. The restaurant to me is fairly comparable to Akira Ramen in Columbia. When I am in the mood for ramen, I will probably alternate between the two.

Shoyu Ramen 5/5 - the curvy noodles had a great texture and satisfying bite, exactly what I crave in ramen. Got it with the highest spice level, and its perfect for someone with a higher tolerance, not too spicy to where its not enjoyable. May be too spicy for someone with a low tolerance. Very tasty and good portion. The egg was cold but perfectly cooked with semi liquidity yolk. Tonkotsu Ramen 4.5/5 - Overall was delicious, although wasn't a fan of the thinner straight noodles compared to Shoyu. At first, it also felt as if it had a funky smell but tasted great. Good portion and egg like the shoyu Chasu bun 5/5 - Soft bun, good spice, strong flavors, well filled. Comes with two. Takoyaki 5/5- Was my favorite thing on the menu. Full of flavor, it has a great soft texture, and drizzled with tasty sauce. Enjoyed octopus chops and taste. Came during a non busy time, but service was extremely fast. One appetizer came after another and the ramen was out before they could be finished. Staff was nice and restaurant was clean.

Ramen is always nice on a cold winter night. It was lovely to meet up with friends right before the holidays. You can't go wrong with the tonkotsu. I think it's the cloudy broth that I can't make on my own that makes me gravitate to this dish no matter where I go. I enjoyed all the ingredients except for the pickled ginger. It just felt weird that every now and then I get a bite of ginger, but otherwise, a thoroughly good bowl of soup and noodles. We also got the shoyu ramen which was also quite good. I am not sure why we were all given plastic spoons. Our friends ordered a rice dish and found it incredibly hard to scoop up their meal. We couldn't slurp up our broth with such a small spoon and ultimately had to ask for the traditional ramen soup spoon (think small ladle). We shared the White Peach Sake with everyone at the table and everyone loved it. It is very sweet but the small shot glasses help with moderation. I highly recommend the sake. Nice location and restaurant. Parking was adequate.

First time here on a Sat. Evening. Found out about it by accident on Yelp. Had no idea what to expect. Was greeted by friendly staff, arrived around 5p and next thing you know the place got packed around 6p I ordered the Ichiban rice bowl it was fantastic. The Bao Buns were good but next time I will do non spicy The shrimp dumplings best i had in a long time. Ramen was perfect (3) on the spicy level. Drinks were good, server made great suggestions. Great place for a date nigh.

Literally so delicious, cute little restaurant. That was the best bowl of ramen I ever had! The broth was Smoky, spicy by choice, and the ingredients were fresh and plentiful. Everything came out in less than 10 minutes it seemed and I really enjoyed my dish. 5/5 no notes! Great service and the price was really affordable. I got an appetizer, an entree, and a drink for about 25 bucks! Normalize not breaking the bank for a delicious meal! I will certainly be back a couple of times.

Service was friendly and willing to share knowledge of ramen and the best way to take home leftovers. Started with pork buns before Tonkatsu Ramen, level 2 spice. Mine had more ginger than what I'm used to but I found this to be a positive. Only down side was a hit of a lag time in server attention, but the place was quite busy by the time we left. I would definitely revisit.

A very solid ramen place. Service was very nice, and once they let us in at around 8:50 when closing was at 9. Shoyu Ramen is always out within a few minutes, and I always order an extra egg as that is something uma uma prepares very well. Solid amount of meat and good portions. Enough for one person. Broth could use more flavoring but in general very solid. Can never go wrong with uma uma.

    Does this place accept walk-ins?

    Yes, they do!

Are there gluten-free ramen options - noodles + broth?

There are Gluten Free Noodles available for an extra charge. As for the broth, the vegetarian ramen broth is gluten free. Otherwise most of the other options contain gluten. But there is a gluten free soy sauce available, just need to ask the server!

Both orders came with coleslaw. The korean spicy is just a little bit of heat nothing over powering. More flavorful then anything the chicken wings that I purchased was just fried chicken wings. But still it was seasoned very well & very good. After we purchased both orders we took our orders both to go just. To see if the ride home from restaurant. Would really make a difference? Bonchon Ellicott City…read more GOOD: Service was good, potstickers were tasty BAD: Price paid for the quality, tacos were not as expected and mehh, street corn just tasted boiled. I wanted to like Bonchon. I was at Centennial Park and figured give it a try. I can get great chicken wings in several spots, so I wanted to try something more uniquely "Korean." I should have followed the masses and got wings or bullogi (sp) fries. I was hoping the street corn with the mayo would be creamy and unique - after the first bite it tasted like corn you'd boil at home. The tacos were okay - I ordered "fried chicken" expected a good crunch, like a chicken tender, no such luck. It tasted bland with no fry crunch at all. They also needed better draining. Every bite yielded a leaky mess. The star of the show was the pot stickers - the sauce stood out but another item I can get for less. Overall, I left spending 37.00 unsatisfied. If I returned, I'd stick to wings or the chicken sandwich, but competition is top notch for that at better prices.

They have a great 12-4pm lunch special on weekdays, two-hours of grill-it-yourself All-You-Can-Eat Korean BBQ or Hot Pot (pho-like soup) for $21, (less for kids). Arriving about 12:15pm, we were seated by the alert host with no wait. I think they could fit around 40 in booths for 4 to 6. There's a whole other area further in for maybe 50 more, with some tables for large groups. The room was lively with conversation and music. We were immediately greeted by our attentive friendly fun server, Mahlah, who explained it all to us: menu choices and pricing, the wireless ordering-tablet, techniques for grilling, and the buffet appetizers and desserts. She lit the grill that is built into our table, and took our first order so we could start in as soon as we got back from the buffet. At the buffet we filled a dish with nicely-fiery flavorful kimchee and a similar spicy mix with tofu. We got lettuce, carrot shreds, and fresh tomato chunks. Warm sesame-covered mochi-rice balls, lightly sweet and fresh with a chewy inside. Fresh hot finger-thin 2-inch spring-rolls, crispy and flakey with a little bit of veggies inside. I got small hot flakey crispy rangoon triangles filled with cream cheese with just a little crab-flavor. I ate a couple to manage that spicy kimchee and tofu :-). They had fries and breaded shrimp and chicken wings, too. We filled smaller bowls with several of their dozen or more flavorful sauces, from a KPOT signature red sweet bbq sauce, to a pretty-spicy red sauce, to a bowl of soy-sauce to which we added chives and onions and garlic and jalapeños and such. All very tasty and fresh. The lunch-menu Korean BBQ offered a wide selection of meats and seafood and veg. Mahlah was always nearby, watchful for any requests, and brought our first course in mere minutes. The "spicy" bulgogi beef was cut in medium-thick slices, maybe 1/8-in thick, and it cooked quickly while staying very juicy and very tender. The prime brisket was cut in thicker slabs, maybe 1/4-in, and it was marbled enough for good juicy flavor and tender texture even on this hot grill. We used the scissors to size it down for eating. The beef-belly was very thinly sliced, paper-thin, and it cooked up in a flash, getting a a slight crust like a well-done Italian porchetta. That took some practice to cook without almost evaporating it! The trick? The table-grill is hottest in the middle, so cook delicate foods around the edge of the grill. We had tender chunks and strips of juicy marinated garlic-chicken breast, and tender juicy good-sized garlic-shrimp, which were both very easy to grill. We tried some thick slices and long tangles of squid, and they were tasty but we didn't really figure out how to keep them tender, so we cut them up into smaller pieces with the scissors and marinated them in soy sauce which really enhanced the slight char. We grilled sliced white onion, thin zucchini circles, chunks of fresh green peppers, thin tasty white oyster mushroom discs, and thicker chunks of peppers and portobello mushrooms. On we go! We ordered twice more. An order of the thicker cuts of pork-belly, which came out like fancy not-salty bacon. Bright-red "spicy" (not very spicy) sweet juicy white-fish fillets, which cooked fast! Sweet tender "Hawaiian" bulgogi, which we spiced up with sauce from the buffet. More of those tasty garlic-shrimp. Probably a few more items that I'm not remembering right now. For dessert we got some little chocolate ice cream and fruit-flavor sherbet cups from the freezer by the buffet, and chose tiny wooden spoons just for fun, instead of the available silverware. We got fresh fruit and a slice of light cake with a light creamy layer on top. Then Mahlah overheard one of us say "birthday"! She laughingly scolded us for not telling her sooner, quickly came back with a large wonderful slice of delicious super-light cheesecake with a candle, and happily sang Happy Birthday with us! It felt like another friend had joined us! Luckily, one who remembered the cake :-) We ate for nearly two hours, until we couldnt eat any more! It was so much fun, and we chattered happily the whole time as we were adding to the grill or serving or sneaking tastes along the way :-). We thoroughly enjoyed our tasty flavorful generous meal. KPOT is a great fun place for fresh grill-it-yourself foods. There's five more KPOTs within 45min and several more within an hour. I had no idea!
