I typically order for pick up but after dining at the restaurant, I realize it offers a completely different experience that is not offered in to go orders. I've been coming to Sushi Q in Elkridge since my college days and it still tastes just as delicious as the first time! Their lunch combo specials are my favorite deals because you can get 2-3 sushi rolls for just about $12-14 in total. That lunch combo also comes with a crab tempura appetizer, clear or miso soup, and salad with ginger dressing. As for service, there are days when they are slow and some when they are extremely quick but this has often resulted in mistakes in our orders. There were a couple of times when I've received the wrong sushi roll or my entree never came out. However, the servers are usually very nice and will get your correct or missing order. Best sushi I've had in suburban MD so far! More specifically, the best salmon. I am not sure how they treat their fish, but I now specifically crave Sushi Q's salmon as opposed to just craving "sushi." Clean restaurant . Has 7 booths (28seats) and another set of tables(36 seats) and a few chairs at the sushi bar. Located off rout 1 in elkridge. Service was very quick, but we did come in at 315 pm on Friday so everyone else was finishing up. I ordered the chirashi don. I don't know if it's because I have not had it in a long time, but it was soooo good. The fish was delicious and fresh. The rice was prepared to perfection with perfect amount of rice wine vinegar and sugar. My wife does not eat raw foods, but she wanted to come here. She ordered the dinosaur roll, angry dragon roll, and angry lobster roll. She loved it. Lobster roll was ok imo. The dinosaur roll was delicious but felt the unagi could be a little thicker. There are not much signage outside of the restaurant especially when gets darks, it can be difficult to spot where is door is Sushi came out delicious so was the spring rolls and soft shell crab. The waitress waited on us was new to the restaurant and had a little glitch with our order, but she was so cute and try to make up for her mistakes... which was not a big deal at all. We visited Sushi Q for the first time after hearing great reviews, and I am so glad we did! Upon arriving, we were quickly greeted and seated. The staff brought over menus and soon after took our drink order. They have quite a variety of sushi! We ordered a few rolls and a miso soup. To our surprise, we also got complimentary appetizers: fried crab sticks with a special sauce & a soup with mushrooms in it. Both were delish, and the miso soup was also great. The sushi was SO FAST! We literally could not believe how fast the rolls were ready and served to us. I am a huge sushi lover, and I've tried a lot of sushi. When I tell you, Sushi Q has the BEST salmon I've ever had in sushi, I mean it! Each roll that had salmon was just so good; I was amazed. The other rolls were also great too! The quality and freshness of each roll was perfect. The Lemon Salmon was our favorite! The staff was so incredibly friendly and attentive. Semi-busy sushi restaurant on a weeknight, where our party of five was sat immediately but had to wait a long time in between waitstaff stops. Meal came with free miso soup bowls and fried panko imitation crab bites at the start and little slices of cake at the end. My fried Angry Ravens was hot, crunchy, and filling, so by the time the Twins came out, I only had half. I like eating here and any of the other branches of Sushi Q because you always know what you're gonna get if you dine in: miso soup, sushi, and a small cheesecake dessert in a consistently clean/ minimalist space. It's not the fanciest sushi in the area, but sometimes I just want to eat a whole bunch of eel avocado roll and that's what I can get here fresh and affordable. I like to dabble here and there with some of their specialty rolls, but they do my favorite kind so well. Service is scientifically efficient and food can take a little while to prepare, but I'm not usually in a big rush. There's always a line out the door for online/mobile orders. When dining in, there's hardly ever a wait even though it can get crazy busy during dinner. They also have good lunch specials here. We will be back for more. read more

I usually don't write reviews, but my recent visit to Sushi Q in Elkridge left me shocked and frankly uncomfortable. I placed a to-go order and arrived to pick it up. A young lady at the counter politely confirmed my order number and directed me to pay at the kiosk. I used Apple Pay at the kiosk, selected the option to have my receipt texted to me, and entered my phone number as prompted. What happened next was unacceptable. A man, who I assume is either the manager or owner, suddenly rushed over, grabbed my bag without asking, and checked the terminal to verify my transaction. It was invasive and accusatory. There was absolutely no reason to treat me like I was trying to leave without paying--especially when I had just completed the payment in front of staff, with a digital trail to prove it. This behavior felt profiling, disrespectful, and completely unnecessary. There is a professional way to handle confusion at the register (if there even was confusion), but what I experienced was rude and degrading. Food aside, no one deserves to be treated like this. There are plenty of sushi places in the area, and I will not be supporting an establishment that makes customers feel singled out, disrespected, or mistrusted. I will not be returning. read more

The waitress sat us down as we came in @ 9:40 and they close at 10:30 ... we were ordering sushi rolls nothing crazy a quick in and out. She yelled at the waitress berating her for sitting us down and told her to tell us to hurry up and order as kitchen was closing. Then she stared us down and had a NASTY STANK LOOK on her face with her coat on wanting to leave. She should've just left if she wanted to leave so badly. The Ginger scallop specialty roll (wrapped in pink soy paper) was gorgeous but had a fishy taste and I am not even sure those really were scallops - sliced paper thin and little "chips" of fishy-tasting cooked "scallops". For $15 - I actually could not eat it. I ate 2 of the 8 maki pieces and left the rest. The sushi chef was funny and entertaining. They also comped me a tempura crabstick appetizer and a sliver of cheesecake (did not ask for these). Lots of gloppy sauces hiding not-the-best-quality fish. Very Americanized. We have been to this location on numerous occasions, though parking is an absolute strip mall mess-it's worth the frustrating navigation. This particular visit we tried the Playboy (bit too creamy with an overpowering avocado) * the Yashi Maki roll (absolutely delicious chunks of fresh veggies). Our orders finally come out; they are: Sushi Q Special Roll, Dabomb Roll, Boston Roll, Eel Avocado Roll, Rock n Roll, Spicy Yellowtail Roll, Salmon Roll. They are all fresh and delicious sushi, it was an excellent experience. A soft, pleasant restaurant when first walking in. A great place for either a large party or date. Simple seating and already has utensils + sauces prepared. Quick and effortless service. Food started out with the usual mini house salad and miso soup - nothing particularly special~ A free appetizer was given - fried crabmeat + cream cheese roll (it was okay - again, nothing special). Gyoza was good. Ordered the Tuna Tsunami - fresh flavoring, tuna melted, but the avocados were a little bit unripened. Also ordered the Tuna Tataki - did not like as much as the Tsunami but not bad! Shared the 3 roll set with a friend and overall the eel avocado and the Dynamite were my favorite rolls (most flavorful + tasty). The other rolls such as the eel crunch, salmon avocado, spicy salmon, and even the Dabomb were all good but nothing extraordinary. Did not particularly think they were the freshest I've tasted or absolute best sushi but still great! Overall 7/10! I've been coming here for lunch every now and then because their weekday lunch specials are a great deal that come with a miso soup, ginger salad, and small imitation crab appetizer. (Back in the day, they also used to give cheesecake desserts when you were finished your meal) Also, they are usually very fast with bringing out your food. However, during a recent experience, we ordered the 3 rolls of sushi lunch special and terriyaki chicken. The sushi came out pretty quickly, so we figured the terriyaki chicken would come out shortly after, but that wasn't the case. I was able to finish 2 rolls of sushi and still no terriyaki chicken, so we asked for an update, and they said they were cooking it in the back. We waited about another 20 min, and still no chicken. Another server asked if we needed anything, we said no because we figured they knew we were waiting for the chicken, and a minute later, she gives us our check. I understand that lunchtime can busy, but we still haven't even gotten our food, and you give us the check? We felt like they were trying to kick us out. Most of the tables were filled, but there wasn't a wait or line out of the door. At this point, we almost asked to remove the chicken from our check, but we just asked for it to go because we waited all this time already, and were still hungry. Great food. It's been a staple of ours for years, mostly for lunch. Service is a wild card. Always nice staff but can be slow at times, and I can't count the number of times they forgot to bring us part of the order. Sadly, they just changed up the menu so I can no longer get my favorite. They also raised the prices somewhat significantly; I can't justify paying more when it's not even what I want. Just a side note- previous commenter remarked on the complimentary soup and salad. They now charge $5 to add the salad (not worth it, its about a cup size). It's a good place that you should try at least once. I knocked off a star because the menu is no longer good enough for me to want to go back but I understand that it's personal preference. read more
