Not to mention this is one of the best Korean Pocha spots in the city, with a 70-80's retro street vibe features traditional Korean cuisine, Korean BBQ & other specialties. The wait staff was really nice and inviting. They were very knowledgeable about the various food options. It was really cool to hear catchy K-pop songs playing as week. The food is fire hands down. I went ahead and got the Teriyaki mayonnaise Cup Bap( rice bowl topped with the korean fried chicken, teriyaki sauce and mayo). So delicious, my friend got he soft tofu soup with seafood and we split a hot sake to share. I am still mad at myself that I have not come here sooner, I will definitely be back. The food was great! I ordered their Sweet chili chicken cup bap and was so surprised by how good it was. Chicken was fried to perfection, serving size was huge, and loved the sweet and spicy flavors. My daughter got their kimchi soup with dumplings and I loved how they seasoned it, gave me comfort food vibes. Came here Friday evening around 6 and they were not busy, but saw plenty of folks picking up food. We were seated right away and our orders were taken quickly. Maybe because there weren't a lot of dine in customers. The whole vibe of this place feels like a late night bar. The only drawback to this place is its location, but if you don't mind the graffiti...definitely worth a try if you want some good Korean food. I hadn't been to Kong Pocha in years until last night and shame on me. This place is incredible. The wait staff was inviting and knowledgeable about the various options, the interior was lively with catchy K-pop filling the air. But the food was the best part. The spicy and sweet fried chicken entree was addictive (though next time, I'll ask them to fry the accompanying fries extra crispy--too soggy for my taste). The edamame was simply seasoned with salt but we'll done. And the shrimp fried rice was workmanlike. It's dangerous for my waistline that this place is so delicious, nearby, and open late. From the outside I wasn't sure what to expect. It was a bit dark inside with low warm lighting. They seated us in a back corner which had less light than the corner across but it wasn't terrible. Menus are available via QRcode so we love the sustainability. I went here for a date night and it was super chill. The staff didn't really bother you too much throughout your dining. They gave you the instructions and gave you a lot of time to decide on what to eat and they answered any questions you might have. The food came out super quick. I honestly think it took less than 15m for the food to be served after ordering. Their food was really tasty and fresh. They also gave ALOT so the money is worth the portions. I ordered the Sweet Chili Chicken Cup-BAP, it was more sweet than chili. Still was good nonetheless. They also gave an assortment of toppings or additional adds like kimchi, pickle radish, etc. by it self it was great however the kimchi wasn't my fav because it had a bit of a kick to it. Another one of my favorite restaurants in Baltimore. Out of all the Asian cuisines, I think the Korean food in Baltimore is the best. We have a lot of great options here and Kong Pocha is one of them. I've been coming here ever since they opened and have ordered takeout/delivery from them pretty regularly. The staff here is younger than your average Korean restaurant, and they are friendly and very hospitable. I've come to this space many times in the past when it was Omijang, but they transformed it to feel more homey with dim lights kinda like you are at a night market in Asia. Maybe even a karaoke bar. Over the years, I've been obsessed with their whole fried chicken. As you can see from the photos, I've ordered it quite a few times. Super crispy and flavorful. Recently, I've been obsessed with their brisket. I order their bulgogi ($28) and substitute it with brisket. The flavors and the meat mixed with bean sprouts, cabbage and onion is chef's kiss paired with some white rice. Hits the spot every time. Their daikon radish kimchi banchan is super addicting. So I actually ordered this meal recently through DoorDash and the driver left 1 of 2 bags at my doorstep, even though the drop off directions were to hand it to me so I can give them the PIN. He called me asking for the PIN and I went to the door, food was at my doorstep and he was rushing to his car to leave. I found out later on that half my food was missing. I called the restaurant to let them know and they informed me my order was supposed to be in 2 bags. The jambong and steamed mandu were missing. Jack called me back. He resolved the issue professionally with the least amount of inconvenience to me. The team here has shown great customer service over the years. There have been times where the Uber Eats driver delivered my food to the wrong house, or delivered me someone else's food, but the staff here at Kong has always made up for the mistake of the delivery driver in order to keep their customer happy. The staff are super (thanks Jack for always making me smile and feel welcomed into the space!) and service is quick and friendly. This is a great spot to go with friends, either one or 8+, and have a hearty meal and share some soju. Kong Pocha is also a shining star in the night as one of the few places open late EVERY NIGHT! I first fell in love with their curry omu rice, a luxurious dish of rice, their super star k fried chicken, an omelette, and a velvety, layer of a creamy, rich curry sauce. The fried chicken isn't like a baltimore chicken box. it's not chef hard wings. it's K-fried chicken and it's addictingly good! Crunchy, crisp, juicy, and seasoned perfectly as a different but welcomed experience to the options in MD. Don't sleep on their traditional dishes! When I take friends, I always encourage them to try items they've never had or heard of like the seafood soups/stews or braised items. YUM! If you want to wade your way in, start with more approachable items like the corn cheese (simple but delicious) or seafood pancake, followed by a cup bap. I literally get the combo box every few days - hands down the best Korean food I've found in Baltimore. Highly recommend this combo box with cheese and curry (only available through delivery apps, but you can still order it for pickup). The fried chicken is easily the star - 10/10. Super crispy, tender inside, sweet chili sauce hits just right. The bulgogi is great to me (I'm biased bc I love Korean food) but is more soggy and not for everyone (6/10). The egg and rice with the cheese/curry combo is solid 7/10. Portions are generous. $23 for the combo box lasts me two full meals (and I eat a lot as a 6' 190lb guy). The chicken-only box could honestly feed 4 people. Fries are above average for a restaurant 8/10 - crisp and not overly fried but nothing mind-blowing and could use a bit more seasoning. Ambience-wise, it's what you'd expect from a Korean pocha spot, which is rare this close to downtown. Most importantly, the food is consistent. I've ordered a lot from here and will keep doing so. They also gave a 4 complimentary side dishes of kimchi, pickled radish, tofu with a chili sauce, and green beans and cabbage. That was nice to eat while we waited for our chicken to arrive. Our server was friendly and the food came out relatively fast. The kitchen is open until midnight so I can see how it is a very popular spot for college students, which seems to be most of their customers. In terms of the ambiance, it was very casual. All I can say is WOW! If you're looking for authentic Korean food in a hyper local Bmore setting, this is the place for you. The CM of Baltimore took me here after an event and I'm so happy she did. This spot is open late on Thursdays. I love the intimate setting and all the film posters in Korean on the wall. We were seated quickly and given tasty banchan. My friend highly recommended this secret menu item that was a combo. I opted for the original version of it and was able to try so many different delicious things on their menu from this. I had incredible fried chicken, a fried egg on rice, and another delicious BBQ type dish. It was so much food I was able to take some home for the next day. I also tried their amazing corn cheese. Kong is such an asian classic in the charles village area, especially for college students. modeled after a classic Korean late night bar, this is the perfect place for a casual dinner, getting drinks, or 2am bites. It's a default option for many craving asian food and for good reason! Known for their fried chicken, this visit had me ordering three different portions of it. the galbi sauced fried chicken is incredible. crispy, crunchy, juicy, sweet, tinged with sourness, and savory, it's an excellent option for greasy food lovers. It's controversial for food lovers to order bone in vs Boneless, but the boneless option at Kong is excellent and packs a comparable amount of flavor because they use chicken thighs. the cream omurice with fried chicken was also delicious, with a savory cream layered with soft eggs and seasoned rice. i will say having a bit more sauce would have been great but that's being very nitpicky the spicy chicken with cheese is something i've never had but it was very good! chargrilling the chicken brought a smokey element unique to this dish on the menu, and while i'm usually a proponent of fried over grilled, this dish goes toe to toe with the rest of the spread. I think having a pickle on the side would take this to an 11/10 as it's very rich but still incredibly tasty. Lastly the cheese tteobboki was not the star of the show but offered carbs for our meal. i think it's a bit too saucy though and it's a little bit grainy, but flavor wise it's very balanced with the spice, salt, and sweetness. i wish there were more fish cakes in addition to the quantity of rice, especially for the price, but oh well. Service for this place is all business, it's pretty standard although sometimes can be a little iffy in terms of speed. I think the menu is also on the pricier side for korean food but the flavors make it very justifiable if you have a little dough to spend. What a welcome to an authentic Korean bar experience. Walking into the restaurant there were several people waiting in the standby area for seating. The staff attentively greeted us and advised the wait time with be roughly 20-25 minutes. Shorter than expected we were able to get seated and scanned the QR code to access the menus. The layout of the restaurant did give street bar vibes with moderate decor consistent to what you can find in Seoul or Chunchoen. The crowd was mostly Asian in the 20-30 age range. They corn cheese was super creamy, gooey, and tasty as it was served on a cast iron skillet to the table. *Bonus* the staff understood Korean drinking games and spectated and provided options to try which added to the authenticity of Korean bar experience. Be ready to have a spoon, Soju, and beer handy. The brisket was prepared in the kitchen opposed to being made at the table. Didn't matter as it was super tasty and loaded with veggies. This is one of the rare times it was season compared to the uncooked table side brisket what you have to add your own seasonings. The star of the show was the chicken. One you get a huge portion of chicken and I do encourage you to do the bone in over boneless. The cut of the chicken was not a standard breakdown so you had better bites and more symmetrical pieces. The server did us a favor and brought the sweet and sour on the side so we were able to try the chicken both ways. It was well seasoned, very hot, juicy, crunchy, and tender. Lastly, I finished off the evening with the popsicle which you can select from many options in the freezer. I really like this restaurant and I would give them a 4.6 of 5 star rating. I've now become a semi-regular here and boy I gotta tell ya the food is worth it every time. Normally I'd order the Bulgogi Cupbap and my boyfriend with get the Chicken Cupbab. Both entrees are always so delicious, everything is cooked to perfection. I'd typically spend about $35 each time. To be honest, each portion of both meals is enough for two. I have gotten the tteokbokki once and personally I'm not the audience for it; it's still cooked very well though. I will say though this restaurant CAN get a little pricey if you take advantage of the kbbq selections or some of their other meal choices. But their more simple dishes can be really affordable. The service is pretty good as well, it's very simple and easy going. I will say one thing though it is a little difficult when it comes to checking out, there isn't a specific waitress/waiter, so it's a little confusing. Stopped by this past Wednesday night and my goodness have things changed! So good that the place stayed packed ALL night!! They even utilized the front and back private room for more seating. I was there with a group of 6 for about 6-7 hours catching up with some friends. For starters, the food tasted sooooo good! Best that I've ever tasted and I've been going here for a while !! The fish cake soup was so flavorful and had a nice kick of spice with the addition of the jalapeno peppers. The chicken was crunchy and stayed crunchy and the sauce was a nice balance of sweet and spicy. The tteokbokki was also well balanced and it was a generous portion! Since we were there for so long and kept ordering drinks they gave us some free items like the corn cheese which was so creamy. The fries were very crunchy, not soggy at all and the sweet chili sauce was a nice compliment. The servers kept checking in on us and did their best while they were also managing 8-10 other tables! Kong Pocha stays in my mind rent-free. It's so delicious and the perfect late night hangout spot. I've come a few times and each time is great! It was a little tough to find street parking and a spot in the parking lot (it's very small but to the right of the store), but we managed to eventually. There's many tables both in the back and the front, but the place is popular enough that you might have to wait a little bit before you get a table even if it's late. It's kind of confusing because you have to walk into the middle of the store past the bar area to get seated. I like the vibe here! The lighting is really dim with Korean music playing in the background at a moderate level. I think it's a great spot for a group hangout or a date night! Service has always been very kind and you get buttons to call your server. Food comes out quickly. The banchan is good but I wish there was a little more variety. I love the curry chicken cup-bap and cream omelet. The chicken is spiced so perfectly and comes out crispy and juicy. The curry has a nice blend of sweetness and various spices. There is also so much chicken that comes with the meal! The cream omelet was also delicious and large! We also ordered the corn cheese, which isn't my favorite that I've had, but is okay. Kong Pocha is an unassuming Korean spot tucked away from the busier streets. It's entrance is small but belies the large open space and casual format within. The pictures of the fried chicken originally left me a little concerned about authenticity (and quality). After all, I was a long way from NYC's KTown. However, once the Kongbination platter arrived, I was converted! Kong Pocha seems to only offer boneless fried chicken but it's juicy. They said that they only serve dark meat. I didn't know dark meat boneless chicken was a thing? The breading was amazing too with the sauces. The Kongbination also comes with bulgogi and spicy pork, both of which were also amazing. Walked to this place after catching a movie at Charles Theater. The interior had a cool vibe with Kpop blasting. We scanned the QR menu and decided to share an order of spicy rice cakes with cheese and sweet and spicy fried chicken that came with a salad. For 2 people, it was definitely way more than enough. We are definitely getting 2 separate meals out of this other than just dinner tonight. The bone in fried chicken is easily shareable for 3 to 4 people. It's sweet and spicy but not overwhelmingly spicy, very crispy despite being drenched in the sauce. The spicy rice cake appeteizer was definitely a hit as well with mozzarella cheese. We got a few dishes: corn cheese, sweet and spicy fried chicken, and beef bulgogi. They brought out 4 banchan (side dishes) that were each excellent - a crunchy and sweet radish, kimchi, cold sautéed beans and onions, and a tofu dish. We then got our corn cheese. This dish was still bubbling with cheese as it arrived to our table. The cheese was perfectly melted and had a slightly sweet flavor due to the corn kernels. Highly recommend! The fried chicken came and again it was amazing. It came with fries with mayo drizzled on. The fries were really solid. The chicken itself wasn't that crispy as we had hoped, but the flavor packed a punch and had a small kick. If their chicken was crispy and fresh this would've been an easy 5/5. The beef bulgogi had a lot of flavor. I do think it was too much onion to beef ratio, as for the price you would hope to have more beef. Again, flavor was spot on and quantity was pretty decent.
