    Brisket and sausage

Michael loved it! 5/5 - best bbq I've had in Baltimore so far. Great ambience (small town Texas vibes) and service. The brisket was tender and juicy. The sausage was perfectly texture, smoked, and spiced. The beans were spicy and delicious. The Mac and cheese was rich and decadent. Prices were reasonable for the quality.

I've been putting off my visit to Heritage Smokehouse for quite some time. So, I finally made my way down there and it was a delicious experience. Not to mention I thoroughly enjoyed the 60s - 70s theme and decor of the restaurant. My friend and I showed up at Heritage during their happy hour and was able to have a couple drinks off the menu for just $7. Heritage offers traditional cocktails such as a daiquiri, margarita, mojito, old fashion, and a caipirinha. There were also some beer selections on the happy hour menu. The bartender was nice and provided good service throughout our visit. There were a few options on their food menu I wanted to try like the fried catfish with hush puppies and the brisket tacos, but I decided to go with straight BBQ for my first visit. I settled on the 1/4 rack ribs platter with mac & cheese, braised green beans, and I ordered an additional side of their beans. The platters arrived and I enjoyed every bite. The ribs were perfectly tender, seasoned, and fall off the bone. The mac & cheese was quite delicious, which I will say I was shocked about. And the green beans were braised to perfection. I really liked the beans which were not your traditional sweet BBQ beans, however, I would've really loved them over top of some rice. Heritage Smokehouse lived up to my expectation and I'm already looking forward to popping in to try the fried catfish.

Heritage Smokehouse is truly a hidden gem in the City of Baltimore! When I tell you, the service, was amazing, food came out very quickly. You can literally cut the brisket and ribs with a fork!!!! Not to mention, the flavors are a party in your mouth!!!! The seating is booth and tables , they play a variety of music. It was overall one of the best BBQ places I've ever been to!!! I'm amazed and can't wait to return with family and friends!!!!

Second time visiting and both times we picked up. Not much traffic on a Friday mid day. Order by phone was quick and seamless. Rustic interior with mixed seating and a good size Bar. On our first visit, we really were curious about the brisket and having experienced the Texas variety, we are tough customers. I have to say Heritage's brisket did not disappoint- just the right smoke and super tender-reminded me of some of the best that I've had in the Lone Star state. For this visit, we decided to try all of their meats, which is called the Ron Swanson-their meat sampler. The sampler included shaved pit pork, spare ribs, brisket, four types of their sausage, and smoked chicken. Again, the brisket stood out as well the different types of sausage. That said, the spare ribs were amazing and really some of the best that I've had and a must try! For sides, we ordered the green beans, mac & cheese, and coleslaw. Green Beans were our favorite followed by the Mac. I forgot to take some of the sauce that they had, but they included an Aji Verde sauce- Green salsa with just the right spicy which was delicious and paired well with the sliced pork and smoked chicken. The Burger was also ordered. House ground Brisket blend made for a delicious Smash Cheese Burger. Limited and off menu so ask for it. Service was friendly and fast. So good to have this spot as I would say it is the place for barbecue in the Baltimore area.

I'll keep this review short. The spot isn't really big but what they are packing is huge. Their brisket is like butter. The brisket was so moist. They even accommodated my request for a little beef fat. I'm also drooling over found memories of the ricotta and smoked meatballs. The flavor was so bold and savory. Service was friendly and everything came out in a timely manner. A return trip is in the future!!

Braised Green Beans, Baked Mac & Cheese, Honey Butter Yeast Roll

This is my second time visiting Heritage. My first time was a few years ago, and I will say I don't remember the food being THIS good. I came in on a rainy Friday afternoon with my son. The bar was full but we were the only ones in the dining room area. The bar tender was holding down the entire establishment and didn't miss a beat. The service and food delivery were quick. We ordered the Choriqueso, Smoked Wings, Mac side, String Beans side, and "yeast rolls with honey butter." Everything was tasty and flavored well. The yeast rolls were literally King's Hawaiian rolls with no honey butter atop. I'm not mad at a King's Hawaiian rolls at all, just wasn't what I envisioned we would be getting. The Mac and string beans were so delicious, we ordered some to go. Definitely will be back, much sooner than a few years from now. Cheers to a great time!

The place is cute, wood paneling, taxidermy mounts. Nothing out of the ordinary for a bbq joint. The host was sweet, helpful, the food came out lightning fast and was great. My only small wish was that rolls were warm. Our drinks were flavorful, strong but not overwhelming but the cup was mostly huge ice cubes. Other than that, everything was great. Mac & cheese was incredible browned on top, just right) and the coleslaw was a hit. Tasted like it had a bit of apple, forgot to ask but it was great nonetheless & I usually ignore coleslaw.

A place where you can get great BBQ AND great Tiki cocktails? What's not to like? Crispy-tipped beef brisket, plump house-made kielbasa, and shaved pit pork... All served with thick slabs of spicy, crispy homemade pickles and slivers of pickled onions. Outstanding sides included sauteed green beans (made with plenty of onions), creamy Mac and cheese, and pinto beans with jalapeño. We were too full for dessert, so we'll definitely have to return for a slice of their peanut butter pie! This place was well worth the hour-long drive from D.C.

Ordered the Ron Swanson, an Old Fashioned, and a Mai Tai (I did asked if the mixologist could put it in the cobra cup)

Pretty cool little place in Baltimore. Had a friend from Austin visiting, so we decided to come check out their BBQ and ordered the Ron Swanson, because why not We sat at the bar and the bartender/mixologist was super friendly and although they didn't have a drink on the current menu for the cobra cup, he was nice enough to let me get a drink with it Giant Plate of Meat, based on our Texas Style BBQ Palate... The Good: Pork Ribs: Best thing on the plate! Fall off the bone, super delicious. Chicken: Moist, flavorful, yum Turkey: surprising delicious and not dry The Ok: Brisket: It was ok, good smoked rings but lack in flavor and moisture. Slightly disappointed, could be a bad day. The Meh: Sausages: 1 was ok, 2 were gritty and dry. Will I go back again...Yes!

The service here was fantastic but I did not enjoy the main food. I ordered the brisket sandwich and it was extremely fatty and not very flavorful. The green beans were also not very good to me. I only took a bite and did not desire having anymore. The banana pudding had no sweetness to it. My favorite part of the meal was the sodas and the peanut butter pie. The peanut butter pie was delicious. The pork bites and wings were pretty decent and had a good amount of flavor to them. Maybe we came in a bad day because I did hear some good things about this place. Or maybe it want for my taste buds.

I finally visited Heritage Smokehouse for dinner with my husband a few weeks ago, after wanting to visit for years! Their menu changes up all the time but we tried their fried sardines, smoked arctic char toast, a sliced brisket sandwich, and a slice of coconut custard pie. Everything was great. I was really impressed by the variety of dishes on their menu. You can definitely go and have a classic BBQ dinner: brisket, ribs, sausages, mac and cheese, rolls, etc. But they also have dishes that you might not expect - like the fried herring and smoked arctic char dishes we tried! It's BBQ but so creative. Our drinks were also great. The vibes were great (I definitely felt like I was back home in Texas - it's very homey, casual, but cool). And the service was fantastic - warm, helpful, just really great. Overall, definitely a place I plan to return. Next time with more people - so we can share more of their food!

I enjoyed my meal at heritage smokehouse! My husband and I came here for dinner one Saturday evening and we had a good time. We split the kale ceasar salad, which was particularly good and for a main I got the kielbasa platter with mac and cheese and potato salad! The food in general was great and the space was solid. Our waiter was helpful as well. My only thing was that the food was a bit on the pricy side for the amount of meat I got (although my husband's half chicken portion was huge!) I did really like that the sauces were serve yourself so you could try all 4. I would come back for another meal!

    Sliced Brisket Sandwich
    Cecilia T.

This place looks and tastes like 1986 in the best possible way. Walking in the door was like walking into my uncle's house in the suburbs of my childhood. Wooden paneling, taxidermied animals on the walls, shelves full of weird mugs behind the bar, and a tray full of hot sauces that are obscure and a little frightening. The brisket sandwich was amazing. The brisket was perfectly cooked and seasoned and it was served on a grilled bun with horseradish and onions. The collard greens were braised in some kind of amazing soup-like stock, and the brisket chili was addictive. I am so full right now and I already can't wait to go back.

This is Puerto Rican pitorro, also known as ron cañita, made with care and intention rather than gimmickry. Many local liquor stores now carry the brand, and it is well worth picking up a bottle, but visiting the distillery is an experience in itself. The founder is a fellow Puerto Rican born retired military member, a background I share, and like me, he has put down roots in Maryland. That story is reflected clearly in the brand's own framing, "Puerto Rican born, Maryland made." The space feels grounded and unpretentious, and that sensibility carries through to the hospitality. We arrived late on a Saturday and were still welcomed warmly, never rushed. We were taken care of by the founder's daughter, who was exceptionally kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. She guided us through a flight that included the traditional pitorro, almond, pineapple, coffee, coconut chai, and several seasonal offerings. The flavors were thoughtful and well balanced; even the infused expressions retained a clear rum backbone rather than drifting into novelty. We enjoyed them enough to leave with several bottles. This is artisanal pitorro done right, rooted in Puerto Rican tradition and confidently made in Maryland. Was really looking forward to trying their duck confit chilakiles, but they ran out unfortunately. A little surprising since it's many hours before they close. I was considering coming again to try the duck confit, but after trying everything else I'm not sure it's worth the drive here since I'm not from the baltimore area. Their grilled ahi tuna was done well and the sauce was really good. The garlic soy shrimp pancit had good textures and flavour as well. The nori butter tteokbokki was lacking in flavour a little. Missed a bit of acidity to balance out the cream. Desserts were also just okay. I'm usually a sweets person, but I was kind of disappointed. The carrot mochi cake was strange, the texture was good, but the flavours did not mesh well together and I was confused what I was eating. The latiya was dry. The shaved ice was pretty refreshing but not impressing. The Ube flan was good though!
