The turkey wings were fall-off-the-bone tender and covered in rich, flavorful gravy that was perfect over the rice. The green beans were seasoned just right, and the mac & cheese was cheesy, creamy, and baked with that golden top that lets you know it's homemade. Every bite tasted like somebody's grandma was back there cooking.

That's nice but the drink and desert selection was basically non existent so if you're looking for a sweet treat they might have it but your drinks you're better off stopping at the grocery before heading home. Now the food: if you don't want to wait long. ORDER AHEAD. When I placed my order online it was about a hour wait time. Luckily I wasn't starving because that's a bit extreme to wait for carry out food. When we received the food everything smelt GREAT. I personally ordered the maple jerk wings, Mac and string beans. The wings were good, they were a little more sweet than jerky but still good. I was really disappointed with the Mac and String Beans. Normally I'm all for flavor, but the seasoning on the string beans were overwhelming and the Mac & cheese was very very salty. I thought it was just mine but this seemed to be the general consensus. Everyone else enjoyed their food and the talk of the night were the salmon tenders. Our least favorite item was the shrimp. To me paying $13.99 then an additional 2.99 for the sauce for it to not even be fully coated and overly battered is insane. I wouldn't have cared if the price matched the quality.

I'd seen reviews about Grannys so I thought we'd give it a try. I ordered fried chicken, candied yams, cabbage, and cheesecake. My partner ordered the trout (it looked fancy), macaroni & cheese and collard greens. The fried chicken, IMO, wasn't cooked hard enough. I ate two and let my partner have the other two. The candied yams and cabbage were good. Those are my go-to's! My partner didn't say much about her meal, but from the looks of things, she enjoyed it. But that Oreo cheesecake...... BABY! It was so good! I was only going to take a few bites and ended up eating the whole thing! ...and I paid for it later, but it was worth it. I'd like to give them a try for brunch so we'll go back, likely in person, for that.

Everyone agreed their chicken is outstanding - people were actually talking about it. Native Baltimoreans were saying it was the best chicken they had had in B-more. We also got the mac and cheese, cornbread, and the giant fruit platter-all of which were great. The fruit platter was fresh, and the fruit was ripe. The gentleman who coordinated my order (Vernon?) was patient and made the order easy. He helped me figure out how much to order and how to get and use the Sternos. On the day of the party, the food was delivered right on time and tightly wrapped to prevent spills and keep the hot food hot. The young man who delivered the food was equally as helpful and friendly as Vernon. Highly recommend this Baltimore gem.

I've known about this place for years, but was so off putted by it being inside a gas station (???!). It wasn't until a few months ago when I delivered an order from here through DoorDash that my curiosity had finally peaked. Today, I decided to give them a try. Ordered 3 dinners through DoorDash and even after tip, my total was only about $30! We kept it simple & ordered 3 fried chicken wing dinners, 2 with string beans, 1 with collard greens, and all 3 with the Mac and cheese........guys. The chicken was cooked in fresh grease (y'all KNOW how important that is!), was well seasoned, crispy and juicy. Wings were a decent size -- not pigeons or steroid huge. It was easily the best/my family's favorite part of the meal (I'm already thinking about trying the fried pork chops next ). According to my husband, the string beans were fine -- flavorful, but not seasoned heavily. The collard greens were seasoned and vinegary, like I like. The Mac & cheese was great too, seasoned and cheesy. Do you see a pattern here??? (SEASON YOUR FOOD FOR STARS ) There's so much more I want to say, but if you're not sold by now, then...idk? Trust me on this hidden gem. I'm looking forward to ordering from here again (most likely through DoorDash because that gas station is a little...um...) If the next experience is as good as this time, I've met my Corner Carryout replacement! ...oh yes, the only thing I didn't love was the corn muffin. What I didn't like about it, you might love and that's why reviews are subjective -- so give it a try! I respect the sweet contrast it provides with the savory meal though. Well played, Ms. Gloria.

Angie's was once located…read morein the "old" section of Lexington Market, right across the street from where the "new" Lexington Market is located. It is now on the street across from the old location. I read that their chitterlings were good and I was in the area, so I decided to find out for myself. Upon entering, I was met with a heated glass case which had the chitterlings, along with the hog maws (that would be pig's stomach), in addition to side items such as candied sweet potatoes and collard greens. The ambiance was of a traditional carry-out, but on a slow day ( I went on a Saturday late afternoon). I saw the pricing for the chitterlings and hog maws and was taken aback: the small round deli container that hold 1/4 pound of food was going for $15 with prices only increasing as the deli container sizes did. I had to remind myself, as a connoisseur of chitterlings and hog maws from my extensive family history of preparing such soul food delicacies, that it takes an awful long time to clean those pig intestines and stomach, I mean HOURS to remove the waste and grit followed by extensive rinsing to make sure none of that ilk remains. So I took one for the team and got the $15 container of chitterlings, along with the same size container of sweet potatoes. I doused them in hot sauce that was provided. The ladies were on the grill cooking an insane amount of scrapple, another home favorite that I enjoy. The pleasant gentleman that assisted me said that they are open for breakfast Monday-Sat beginning at 6a. I may have to stop by... Once home, I got into those chitterlings fast: they were cooked well, with NO grit, and had a vinegary flavor that was enhanced by the hot sauce. They were GOOD. The sweet potatoes were whipped, but as I tasted them, they were missing something. I whipped out my nutmeg and cinnamon and with a few shakes of each, the sweet potatoes were just as they should be. Angi's also sells pig's feet, subs, sandwiches, and fish. All in all, a good place to grab some chitterlings, hog maws, pig's feet, and other soul food-themed items. Will definitely be back to try the hog maws and to grab a scrapple sandwich for breakfast.

Located in the Pigtown area of Baltimore this tiny eatery is serving up new homestlye soulfood, such as honey old bay crabby biscuits, fried salmon bites, and fish & shrimp tacos. I opted for the chicken and waffles this go around, which was decently tasty. The order did specify it was tenders and not wings to be served, and I was set on the tenders. So notification to the customer that they would have to switch out the type of chicken would've been nice. However, the hot honey jerk sauce on the wings was delicious and definitely spicy. The waffle was light and airy, however, no syrup or butter was provided in the bag for the waffle. But the star dish was the shrimp tacos. Filled full of crispy shrimp, a little slaw, and this boom boom style sauce. One of my favorite items on the menu. If you're looking for some classic soulfood flavors, as well as, some new style items give England Eatery a try.

Aye, I WAS HORNGRY, and food is my coping mechanism. In short here are my tidbits: Pros(ish) * FOOD. If you don't work out or have a decent system, you may need to plan your trips here. Their food can be habit forming. EVERYTHING is well seasoned. Those PARMESAN FRIES are RIDICULOUS. You can almost taste the calories. The GARLIC MASH POTATOES are not from a box-somebodys grandmama is back there getting it in!!! The collard greens are, ummm, how can I put this, anglo-friendly(no offense). Ya know, cooked but very light (if any) seasoning. The green beans make up for what the collards didnt have( Lord, did they make up). SHIRMP was seasoned to perfection. 2pts * CUSTOMER SERVICE. Don't judge a book by its cover. In this city, I've found customer service to be below par, HOWEVER, my experience was excellent. The gentleman who took my order was polite, clear, and on point with how long it would take. SET THE EXPECTATION. BEAT THE EXPECTATION. 3pts * CASH APP. Yes, this small establishment accepts cash app. Why can't others get on board, IJS. 1pt Cons(ish) * The LAMB was good, but in the order you only get two, so unless you're craving lamb try something more on the soul side to get a bigger bang for your buck. Also, I should've asked for them at a medium, they were cooked, well. Also the rice was a bit moist. Flavors were all there, and trust me, there was nothing left, nothing. -1 * The eve I went, there wasn't much of a crowd and it didn't look like a dine in set up(though inward told by a friend they did)‍ -.5 * Their card machine was down, BUT, they accept cash app. And even in the midst of this (crisis...I kid), the gent was quick to counter and offer other guest solutions, who didn't have cash app (don't ask me how someone doesnt). -.5 Overall, food was good and my pockets didn't feel like they we're taken advantage of(except for the lamb). If they add an 2 lamb chops to the meal I think they'll be almost there...
