The first time we tried Da Rae Won, it was dinnertime, and they were slammed, so we ended up eating their famous lollipop chicken in our car--and it was delicious. We came back for an early lunch and were seated on the other side of the restaurant, which was empty at the time. The service wasn't great until that section began to fill up. Even though they make their noodles fresh, the jjajangmyeon wasn't great. The noodles were on the softer side, and the sauce had very little flavor. I've been coming here for three decades. It's always nice to visit from time to time when I'm in the College Park area. I love their kanpunggi. The jjajangmyeon could be a little more flavorful, but I believe this is the only place in the area that makes handmade noodles. The service is great, and the servers are always attentive. I feel the food is prepared solidly and tastes great! One of the dishes I always look to get is their Lillipop Chicken, essentially their take a fried chicken. You get a very generous plate and the chicken is always crisp and full of flavor! If you do not want chicken, you can get other options such as pork or shrimp with the similar offerings of sauce which I have also tried and is good as well. I will say that the chicken with the bone is my favorite style here! The other dish I like to get is the jajangmyeon, noodles with black bean sauce. It is a simple, yet well-prepared dish that I never have complaints with. Da Rae Won always satisfies my craving for these noodles whenever I need it! My brother and his fiance made the trek to Beltsville, MD just to try this place. They said the jjajangmyeon (noodle with pork and black bean sauce/ black bean noodle) was mid but loved the fried chicken (kkanpeunggi) so much, they ordered another to go and dropped it off. I've never seen anyone lollipop korean fried chicken. The sauce and seasoning was delicious, but the chicken was super over cooked. It ate dry and hard. Edit: I mentioned this place and my experience to a friend and they also had the exact same experience-- they came here because of rave reviews from peers and found the JJM to be bad but chicken and tangsuyuk to be good. Legit! Authentic! I went for Cuban but ended up driving to eat Korean. I pulled up and all I see is Korean people going in and out of the door...great sign. I walk in and all I see is Korean people...great sign. The hostess greeted me and then another person greets me, we're seated within minutes...and they are busy. Waitress comes, water on the table BAM!! Followed by a lil pallet pleasing dish. 23 order...noodles, chicken, rice, soju and we're ready. Food comes and yes we got some recommendations...yes Lord. It's good. My recommendation go try it, ask for recommendations and enjoy!! And be ready to use chopsticks, they will give you a spoon if you need one...but go with the flow and enjoy every bite. Wonderful restaurant with delicious food and great service. Walked in on a Wednesday night for dinner, so it wasn't too busy with a lot of seating. Everyone was very kind and smiling as we walked in, which already made the experience great. The restaurant was very clean with minimal decorations. It got a little loud when they started to stretch the noodles, but it was a fun show. Servers were always attentive and not overbearing, filling out water at the right time and checking in. I've been coming to this restaurant since I was a little girl and I'm now in my 30's and the food is still so yummy here! I know they did change owners, but I think they did a good job of making the place a bit more modernized without compromising the quality of their menu. I came with my family (aunts, uncles, and cousins too) on an early Saturday afternoon. We luckily found a spot to sit at, but the restaurant started to fill up quickly soon after. If it's your first time, you must try their signature regular jjajangmyun and tangsooyook (black bean noodles and sweet and sour chicken). We mostly ordered the jjajangmyun of course, jjampong, the lollipop chicken aka kkanpoongi, and tangsooyook. We ate all the appetizers up so quick and my family is usually pretty critical about food. I would say that one bowl of the black bean noodles can be too much for the average person to finish and no, this is NOT something that will taste good the next day so you should finish it in one sitting. You can also see the person making the dough for the noodles from scratch through a window too which is pretty neat, but I hope they don't feel awkward being watched haha. Not sure what's changed, but the noodles that they use currently is not the same as the texture has become soft and brittle, making it not flavorful to the palette. The black bean sauce is tasty, but when mixing with the noodles, the flavor is a little bland. In addition, I ordered the lollipop chicken and the beef tangsuyuk. The Lollipop chicken was delicious and flavorful. The beef tangsuyuk was a bit of a miss for me, as I was hoping for a more crispier, and not a burnt texture. Overall, this place has become a hit or a miss now. May be worth venturing elsewhere such as Virginia. read more

This place is so yummy! The prices are great and it's easy to park at the establishment. You can hear and see them making the noodles fresh. It's a lot of food for each serving and it's so good! We got the seafood soup and jajangmyun which we both shared and it was delicious. We were able to get a bowl to share. One of my favorite spots to grab a meal....when in the Laurel, MD area. The service here is awesome, they are really attentive. The food is great with my favorite being the Garlic Soy Fried Chicken! The lollipop style fried chicken wings are tender, juicy and the garlic sauce is very flavorful. I tend to order mine spicy to get more a savory taste over the sweet profile these wings have, but nonetheless.....they are soooo good!! The place is popping :) the service was pretty good, we waited about 20-25 minutes for our food and was getting a liiiitle hungry but the server apologized for the wait when she came out with the food and the acknowledgment made it all better~ FOOD! We ordered Black bean noodle (다래짜장), Seafood noodle soup (삼선짬뽕), and fried chicken with sweet and spicy sauce (양념 치킨) and they were all good! I believe they make their own noodle, so the noodles are truly bomb! We typically get fried chicken with garlic sauce (깐풍기) but today we decided to try something new - personally like the garlic sauce better but my husband really liked the sweet and sour sauce! Came back again for some takeout. Happy to see this restaurant thriving and they had also done some interior upgrades to modernize the place. Certain menu items definitely got more expensive (see menu pics) but the staples (Jajang mien) and their seafood noodle soup are still reasonably priced around $11. I ordered the seafood noodle soup. Food took maybe around 20 mins to come out for a weekday lunch but it was nice and hot. I like that they separated the fresh hand made noodles from the soup and also gave a small contain of yellow radish. Soup contains two pieces of shrimp (no peeled), several pieces of beef, quid, and carrots. Noodles were cooked just right and soaked up the flavorful soup well.
