Hand pulled noodles with black beans onions and pork. Incredibly savory.

Super savory hand pulled noodles served in a variety of bowls and soups. This place is the real deal.

Whenever I am in the area and have a craving for Kkanpunggi or Jajangmyeon this is place I go to. All the noodles are hand pulled. You can hear the slapping noise when they are making the noodles. I love their Kkanpunggi (lollipop chicken). It's probably their signature dish so don't miss out. What makes their Jajangmyeon great is their fresh noodles. You can't go wrong with either dish.

Came here for lunch. Not very busy. Food came out quick. We got the lollipop chicken in a sweet and spicy sauce. Delicious and nice and crispy! Small parking lot. Service was nice.

Food was delicious, hot and fresh! Must get the lollipop chicken. We ordered the jjampong less spicy and it was perfect flavor. They had pull their noodles as well. Jajangmyeon was good, a bit too many onions is my only complaint though.

I've been coming here for three decades. It's always nice to visit from time to time when I'm in the College Park area. I love their kanpunggi. The jjajangmyeon could be a little more flavorful, but I believe this is the only place in the area that makes handmade noodles. The service is great, and the servers are always attentive. It's always a great dining experience here.

This is a whole in a wall located in Beltsville, MD. Not a fancy place but the food is amazing. They make their own noodles and you hear the person slapping the noodles in the table and as the guest, you can actually see them make their own noodles noodles. I went here on a Sunday and they have plenty of seating because it was earlier (before 5pm) but the place started getting busy as it gets later. Big serving on food so don't order too much. We ordered the black bean noodles, fried chicken and the bulgoki with rice

Came here with a couple of friends after a coffee date during winter break. We ordered japchae, lollipop chicken, and bean noodle soup for the table. Everything was delicious although the bean noodle soup had LOTS AND LOTS of onions. Totally forgot to take pictures of the before, however I do have the after and the leftover.

Ordered for pick up. They changed the inside of the restaurant. The food is still terrific. We got the lollipop chicken and bulgogi. Came with rice and radishes

We got the tang soo yuk, jjajangmyeon, and jjamppong and everything was so yummy! The portion size was huge and the service was great. The restaurant has a lot of seating and is clean and cozy. Will definitely return for my next noodle craving!

When I am in the area looking for some fried chicken and jajangmyeon, Da Rae Won is the place I visit! I have visited this establishment multiple times and really enjoy the service and food here. I feel the food is prepared solidly and tastes great! One of the dishes I always look to get is their Lillipop Chicken, essentially their take a fried chicken. You get a very generous plate and the chicken is always crisp and full of flavor! If you do not want chicken, you can get other options such as pork or shrimp with the similar offerings of sauce which I have also tried and is good as well. I will say that the chicken with the bone is my favorite style here! The other dish I like to get is the jajangmyeon, noodles with black bean sauce. It is a simple, yet well-prepared dish that I never have complaints with. Da Rae Won always satisfies my craving for these noodles whenever I need it! The place can get busy at peak hours and it is with good reason, as it has been there for years and people keep coming back!

My brother and his fiance made the trek to Beltsville, MD just to try this place. They said the jjajangmyeon (noodle with pork and black bean sauce/ black bean noodle) was mid but loved the fried chicken (kkanpeunggi) so much, they ordered another to go and dropped it off. I've never seen anyone lollipop korean fried chicken. The sauce and seasoning was delicious, but the chicken was super over cooked. It ate dry and hard. Edit: I mentioned this place and my experience to a friend and they also had the exact same experience-- they came here because of rave reviews from peers and found the JJM to be bad but chicken and tangsuyuk to be good. We discussed this at a group dinner shortly after, and someone mentioned that they were under new management/ ownership. Oh no! Be advised.

Woww, I loved everything I ate here! Very authentic Chinese-Korean food, and the prices and portions are great. The jjajangmyeon was exactly what I was looking for - great texture in the hand-pulled noodles, with lots of sauce and meat. The jjamppong had the same noodles, with lots of seafood and the perfect spicy soup. We also enjoyed the sea cucumber and the fried chicken with garlic sauce, although the chicken flavor was a bit on the sweeter side. We saw a lot of people ordering tangsuyuk, so we will definitely come back to try it. The staff are extremely friendly, and the service was fast. Inside there are many table in a large room, and it feels casual and homey.

Apparently this place is by the word of mouth...it's full on a snowy weekday. Good luck finding a parking spot. We had the fried chicken wing with garlic sauce (as an appetizer). There were approximately 15 pieces and plenty for 2-4 people to share. Highly recommend. Noodle portion is huge. I wanted the seafood with veggies in spicy soup #5, but picked seafood with black bean sauce instead. The black bean sauce is a bit bland and hardly any seafood except for a few pieces of squid and shrimps. Maybe next time. Someone wrote - everyone leaves happy. Agree! It's a 30 minutes drive so it's a bit far, but I'd visit weekly or drop by when I shop at IKEA.

Ask the Community - Da Rae Won Restaurant

Can you get jjajameyon (sp?) without pork?

    My wife said "Absolutely."

Any low sodium options on the menu?

They have a soy bean noodle dish that has little to no sodium. But it's a creamy flavor and usually eaten during the summer. You can google "kong gook su" and it'll bring up the recipe with ingredients for your reference.

Are there any gluten free options here? (no soy sauce, batter, flour)?

    Unfortunately, no gluten free options

    Are the noodles vegan?

Yes - they normally are made of flour.

Is there a vegetarian jjajangmyun at Da Rae Won? What are other vegetarian options. Thanks!

You can get it without pork, but I don't recall any other meatless dishes.

    Any lunch specials?

They don't have anything separately designated for lunchtime, menu is same the entire time of operation.

The pork is so tender and perfectly crispy! I added garlic rice instead of the usual which was a great addition. I asked to try their vinegar sauce which comes with garlic and jalapeño in it which I found to be amazing. Lastly, the taro milk tea is heavenly, I'm still thinking about it!!! The service was friendly and because it was my first time they even offered me a coupon for the next time I come back and I will definitely be back! I like most other Chinese restaurants I've been to better, but this place has its unique flair and a different spin on Chinese food. This was overall a negative experience. In May 2023, I had a date, which included Northwest Chinese Food. I had met her way back in March 2021 from an online date. We didn't end up going out again. Then, shortly before this date I saw her at a hiking Meetup group, but we didn't remember each other initially. She seemed cool, and I got her phone number but realized her # was in my phone already and then remembered the March 2021 date where we walked in a park. In May 2023, it was the same kind of thing of meeting for a walk and came up with meeting at Lake Artemisia. It was actually a decent date at the lake, and we were discussing dinner. We were looking on phone weighing options. She had suggested I think Mission BBQ, but I said I literally had like a day earlier. Ultimately, she suggested Northwest Chinese saying that it was one of her favorites, and I was game to try. She had said that she didn't drive there since she lived in College Park and walked to the park, and I drove us to Northwest Chinese. I forgot to factor parking being a pain in central College Park, which I was annoyed. I don't like paying to park just to eat a meal. So, I put 1 hour in the meter, which limited our time at the restaurant but is enough time to eat. If we had gone with Mission BBQ or whatever not in central College Park, we could've stayed 2 hours if it had been good. I honestly might have nixed the Northwest Chinese idea. Even though it was close to 8 PM on a Wednesday night, the restaurant was quite busy and was a wait, which I didn't think would be on the later side on a Wednesday night. It's a small hole in the wall place. It was nicely decorated, but it's small & tight spacing with limited seating. We waited outside for 15-20 minutes. We got seated. I told the server right away we have 40 minutes left on the meter so that he was aware. The one positive was the server did do a good job respecting our time and was efficient coming around often with water, etc. We got our food in good time. But this was quite spicy and adversely affected the taste for me. The quality seemed pretty good, but because of all the spice, I didn't enjoy this meal. Additionally, it was loud in there, and I had to speak unnaturally loud to the server and was hard to hear in there. Further, we were very close to the table next to us, particularly could've joined in on their conversation. Afterwards, I drove her back home. But the dinner with the loudness, it was hard to keep much of conversation going, the time constraint of the parking, dealing with the spiciness, it ruined what had been a good date at the lake. Overall, this restaurant left a sour taste or really more accurately a spicy taste in my mouth.

While the restaurant provided separate containers for the noodles and the broth, I wish they provided a larger container to mix the soup and noodles like many of the ramen and pho places provided for its delivery/take-out orders. You will find Japanese options like sushi, American-Chinese dishes like orange chicken, similar dishes, and Cantonese food like roast duck, Hong Kong-style noodle soups, and whole fish. They are family-owned and operated. Every time we come, the elder father is always gracious and provides excellent service. The restaurant is always quiet; you can hear conversations in the back, and as customers arrive to pick up their orders, we haven't witnessed any negative interactions. Customers are always happy with their food, and the staff say thank you. The only negative is the space. The building itself is older and outdated. I used to like Noodles & Company more, but over time, my enthusiasm for them waned some as I don't think they are all that great as far as pasta goes. I used to get pesto cavatappi normally. Staff isn't terribly friendly at this location. There was a woman who I briefly dated in summer 2021. She lived in Montgomery Village, and I lived in Russett in western Anne Arundel County, not too far from Laurel. She worked around Fort Meade so she did try to be accommodating and pick places close to me. Dates were getting further apart, and she knew I was going to Chicago for almost a week, so she said Noodles & Company close to where I live the evening before my trip on Monday, August 30, which I reluctantly agreed as I had a negative bias to Laurel & specifically Laurel Town Center and in evening. We ate outside as weather was nice but had some anxiety about being over in the town center in the evening in 2021; so I didn't love her choice because of the location, might've even preferred another area of Laurel like Old Town or the big shopping center further south of here. She got some Thai dish, since she liked that. I got my usual Pesto Cavatappi. Out final date was kind of lackluster. The next day I had texted her that I had landed at O'Hare, which didn't prompt a response necessarily. I was busy on the trip and didn't have the time or heart to text again and then kind of forgot about her after my fun vacation and moved on. In summary, I prefer Columbia location because the manager came through plus I prefer Columbia over Laurel in general. I try to avoid Laurel & especially the Town Center at night. If Town Center is convenient, I like Nando's or Mission BBQ and almost always go there in the daytime. Overall, this location of Noodles & Company isn't bad but not the best customer service or food.
