Lunch special-Kung Pao chicken; sub mushrooms.

Good service, great food as usual particularly if you are looking for authentic Chinese food!

I've been going to Mandarin House for probably well over thirty years. They are the only place that I can find hot, crispy beef, and as far as that goes, they never let me down. The portions are huge, and the food tastes fresh. our waiter was excellent and he has been there. I believe the entire time. I guess the only negative if there is any is that the building is really old and hasn't been remodeled in forever. But I go there for the food and not the decoration.

Came here spur of the moment for lunch on a Sunday. My mom gets takeout here all the time and I was in town visiting. Everything was good. But they did not serve lunch portions or pricing on Sunday. So be aware of that if you're on a budget or would like a smaller portion. We started out with their pupu platter which was actually very fun to eat. If I was here with friends for a drink that would be fun to split with one of their massive fishbowl specialty cocktails. The platter was fun because there was a good variety of fried food (wings, wonton, egg rolls, giant shrimp)and food on a stick (grilled beef and bbq ribs). And it was extra festive because it spun around and there was an old school little hibachi in the center so you could heat things up and basically set them on fire. That's always fun! For the entree my mom got the cold sliced chicken with spicy peanut sauce. It's an appetizer but it was a good size when mixed with the other things we shared. The chicken was poached perfectly and placed on a bed of julienne cucumbers. But the sauce was not spicy at all. Good peanut flavor but no spice even though I could see the drizzle of chili oil. And the other entree was the roast pork with broccoli. Like everything else, it was freshly prepared. It was basically sliced bbq pork with a ton of sauce. If I ordered it again, I'd order the sauce on the side. So, in general a nice experience. Good food. Friendly service. Fun food and drink options. The restaurant is a little dated in an older strip mall but it's clean and obviously a neighborhood favorite.

This has been my favorite spot ever since I was a kid, love the hot and sour soup and crispy beef. How can I forget those spring rolls.

Probably be the best Chinese in the Laurel/Columbia area that I've found so far... Like, by a long shot.

Wonton soup was extremely salty. So salty I had to add hot water to it. I'm not going to try other dishes because of this.

This place is Chinese food catered to American people. Not authentic. If you're into that then this is the place for you.

I ordered the Rib Tips and Pork Fried Rice for pickup. Honestly, I was hesitant because Yum's has really gone down in quality over the last few years, but I was hungry and just wanted to grab something fast. I wouldn't say I completely regret getting it, but it definitely wasn't worth the extra calories. Let's start with the Pork Fried Rice. The one thing I'll give them credit for is that it wasn't greasy. But the lack of flavor completely messed it up. It was so bland that I actually had to bring it home, re-cook it in a pan, and add some garlic butter just to give it some life. The Spare Rib Tips were another miss. They gave me a really good amount of food, which I appreciated since I was hungry, but the meat was very chewy. It almost tasted like the tips were a bit old. I ate it because I was hungry, but this place consistently fails to meet the standards they used to have. Unfortunately, this is no longer a good takeout spot, and I definitely won't be going back.

We called just after the maximum time window we were given (75 minutes). They said that the food had just left and would arrive shortly. I called back after another hour and asked them to cancel our order. They said "yeah, okay" and hung up the phone without asking what order I was calling about. I called back and they directed me to Menufy to cancel since it was an online order. The people at Menufy were great, but when they called the restaurant they said that the food was delivered, refused to refund the order, and apparently swore at the customer service rep from Menufy. I don't know what to say because the food was never delivered, we have a Ring camera and can prove that. Hopefully we get our money back. Well, we apparently won't get our money back. The store is refusing to allow Menufy to issue a refund. Our crappy review stands and we're out $61. Hope it was worth it, Yum's!

We have been familiar with the area for years, as my father-in-law lived 3 minutes away, and recently we realized this was his go-to carryout. After 3 visits, I can say it's one of the best in the DMV, thanks to its flavor and food choices. You will find Japanese options like sushi, American-Chinese dishes like orange chicken, similar dishes, and Cantonese food like roast duck, Hong Kong-style noodle soups, and whole fish. They are family-owned and operated. Every time we come, the elder father is always gracious and provides excellent service. The restaurant is always quiet; you can hear conversations in the back, and as customers arrive to pick up their orders, we haven't witnessed any negative interactions. Customers are always happy with their food, and the staff say thank you. The only negative is the space. The building itself is older and outdated. In the summer, it is hot, and now in the winter, there is no heat. They have found ways to make it work, like space heaters on each table, but it can still get uncomfortable if you are dining in. The back area near the bathroom and the bathroom itself need a thorough cleaning. To me, it's a turnoff; it doesn't affect the food, but it does affect the dine-in experience. Again, overall, I love their food and believe it's a local gem worth a try.
