Love a good Chinese carry out. Hunan China is your typical take out Chinese spot. With this being my first time there I just ordered one dish. Went with the shrimp Lo Mein. It was just ok for me. The noodles were overcooked which really can ruin a noodle dish. However, the portion was a good size for the price. Tried Hunan China for the first time today. Went with a variety of items - orange chicken, boneless ribs, pork fried rice, fried dumplings, cheesesteak egg rolls, and onion rings. All were just fantastic! My order was ready quickly, service was friendly and prompt. Not much to the place, just a kitchen, counter, cooler for drinks, and two chairs for those waiting, but you don't need too much when the food shines as much as Hunan China's. read more

The food was good. The service was good, and atmosphere was average. The portions of food was large. Had the green beans and chicken, which was very good, didn't like their curry and chicken, the kompow combo was just okay. The eggrolls were large, but it was full of cabbage so if you don't like cabbage, I wouldn't recommend the eggroll. read more

This is takeout only. Which is good for the business because if they had table service diners would refuse to pay. Stringy chicken that won't dissolve regardless of the level of mastication. Ordered General Tso Chicken with fried rice and it was horrible, the rice was mushy and salty and the chicken didn't have any flavor.

Horrible. The chicken fried rice had chicken that was added to the rice separately and the chicken tastes like it was boiled then shredded. The beef & broccoli did not taste like beef at all. It was just bad and tasted spoiled. I removed and threw away the meat. I ate most of the rice and broccoli because I was hungry. I don't usually go here but my regular Chinese restaurant is closed on Tuesdays. I go to Mandarin House. I've carried out twice now and the food was very good. Portions are large. They are quick to turn around orders. Prices are fair. I love eggplant so they made it with chicken in a hot garlic sauce. Very tasty!Eggplant is not an easy vegetable to prepare, cook, and make tasty so it was a good test for them. We'll try more dishes in the future. read more

I drove here all the way from South Laurel because of the reviews I read on yelp. 1- This place isn't in Laurel. It's in Scaggsville, which is about 5 miles north of Main St. in Laurel. 2- I placed my order and it was ready in less than 10 minutes. 3. All the food that I've i have ordered has always been fantastic. I normally get the pot stickers, general tso, shrimp fried rice, or chicken w/ broccoli. The food is plentiful and fine. It is our go to for carry out Chinese in the area ever since our previous sit down favorite closed back in 2015. I have not bothered with delivery as we are just minutes away. I have seen complaints about the woman at the phone and counter but, I have no problem dealing with her. RIP OFF WARNING: This place is cutting corners to save money. I ordered hot & sour soup and the size they gave was 1/2 as big as the usual containers that are standard at any Chinese place, and they were not even filled up!!!! Wish I could give it a Zero! Just order two entrees: Mongolian Beef (Mild) and Double cooked Beef (spicy). Mongolian Beef was made spicy, hardly any green onion and the beef was very chewy! Our family Loves Hunan China... my husband and two kids eat here once a week and we are pretty picky when it comes to our Chinese food. The portions are great, the food is delicious and the delivery is VERY QUICK! I tend to add something special to my orders now and then, and they're always happy to do it at no extra charge... like add broccoli to my lo mien... We actually have a place directly across the street from our house that we can throw a rock and hit, and we prefer Hunan over it any day. read more

This place meets my number one requirement for Chinese--the food is great! The only thing that my husband and I have gotten that I didn't like were the dumplings. They were oddly flat and smelled like peanuts, almost wonder if we got something else off the menu by mistake? My favorite menu items are the wonton soup and hunan chicken and my husband favors the chicken and cashews. Everybody we've dealt with is friendly and whenever we pick up an order the place is nice and clean. Beware there's no real place to sit down and eat but that's ok because their delivery service is speedy. Unlike most (all?) of the Chinese restaurants in Columbia this place has different portion sizes! So instead of the small only being available during lunch you can order it anytime, which is awesome since my husband and I like different dishes. Portion sizes are great, the small is usually enough for two meals if I get an accompanying soup. Large is big enough for two people with plenty of leftovers. Best of all the prices are really reasonable and they're open pretty late. read more

I was in the area and looked up Chinese restaurants in the area and Hunan China seemed to be the closest. I ordered the fried chicken (4piece) with shrimp fried rice. I arrive to pick up my food and asked how I was paying. I stated that I was paying with a credit card, in which the cashier stated that it would be an additional fee because it is under $10. This information could've been stated once I called in my order. I get my food and notice that the chicken wasn't as crispy as I like it , but it was good. The rice would've been perfect if I ordered fried rice, however I ordered the shrimp fried rice which had about 7 small shrimp in it. I probably would order the chicken and ask for it to be fried hard and just plain fried/white rice. I most likely will be back again, but this time I'll make sure I have cash on me, unless I'm ordering more than $10 worth and also in the area. read more

Language Barrier Makes Ordering Dreadful !! I understand how this works, but I would be more understanding if they didn't carry on multiple conversations while trying to take your order over the phone. Having to constantly repeat my order is not fun and trying to talk over the other people working there shouldn't be this much of an issue. Unfortunately no one there will ever read this but I wish they would. I would be ordering much more often if it wasn't so painful. I ordered 2 chef specials. One was Shrimp,Beef,Chicken in Hot Garlic Sauce. The other was Tai Hing Beef Hot (deep fried beef mixed vegetables in spicy hot sauce). So lets talk about the Pros: Preparation was quick. The dinner portions are large. But that's where it ends. The Cons: They Don't serve lemonade or Ice tea (homemade). BOTH dishes tasted Exactly the same. I had my fiance try them both but I didn't tell him which was which. He thought I bought a double portion of the same dinner. I have just moved to the area and was searching for a place that would be my cookless night go to. Just off of 29 North and 5 minutes before home I stopped here. The order taker, a woman, appeared to be put out by my delay in deciding what I wanted. I begged her pardon and told her everything looked good on the menu, trying to connect. She wasn't having it though. While we do not have to be best friends her gruff demeanor began what turned out to be an unpleasant experience. Settling on the steamed dumplings and seafood lo mein I sat down and waited. After a little under 10 minutes (impressed), the order taker made a sound in my direction. A bag was placed on the counter and she walked away. At first because it was just a sound I wasn't sure she meant for me to take it. I walked over took it and left. It took me under 5 minutes to arrive home. The food was hot and I was ready to dig in. The dumplings @ 6 were small and shriveled. Two of them put together would have been the average size elsewhere. The stuffing was miniscule and tasteless. Bland. The lo mein was unappetizing, it just didn't present well. The noodles were almost the size of spaghetti noodles; however, the seafood was plentiful, yet sadly also bland. If I ever get the notion of going back there (I won't), I will make a mental and physical bee-line for the Baskin Robbins next door read more

I grabbed takeout from Hunan China on two occasions recently and liked it enough to come talk here. Be aware: there is no place to sit and eat inside. This is strictly takeout and delivery. Quick service, cash register, bottled drink fridge, two or three chairs for waiting lined up against the wall. I'm a vegetarian, so I can't wax poetic about their beef with broccoli, though my friend enjoyed that it had more vegetables in the mix than just broccoli. Their kung pao bean curd has crunchy bits of celery, chopped crunchy carrot, a bit of onion and water chestnuts as well as peanuts. Yum. It's piquant, but I'm a spice fiend, so I'll ask them to make it extra hot next time. Similarly, the cold sesame noodles had a good amount of green onion and were not drowned in sauce, with some but not a lot of spice. The dumplings are thin - a nice dough to filling ratio. You get a good amount of food for your money, and the pricing is fair for takeout/delivery. Also: They advertise that they use vegetable oil. Nice to know. read more

Tried this place for first time and found everything very good. We liked the shrimp with lobster sauce which had fresh mushrooms not canned and other fresh vegetables. I really liked the Beef chow fun -- very tasty. The General Tso's chicken had nice chunks of chicken and a light breading, also very good. The beef with snow peas was just okay for me but I am not big on the baby corn and bamboo shoots. We will definitely come back and try some other dishes. read more

I got carry-out Singapore Rice Noodle combination w/Shrimp, pork & chicken meat. Decent amount of meat & tons of noodles. Problem was very little curry spice, it was bland I would say. I think it is the best Chinese carry out around. Found this place out of sheer necessity... turns out they have pretty good food. it's not the best ever but it's tasty. they give you plenty for two people so you will both be full. it's kind of a hole in the wall and for take out only. the sesame chicken is my fave but I am willing to try all their dishes. read more
