Take this review with a grain of salt for many reasons, and considering that I could not rate this restaurant above a 4. We have been familiar with the area for years, as my father-in-law lived 3 minutes away, and recently we realized this was his go-to carryout. After 3 visits, I can say it's one of the best in the DMV, thanks to its flavor and food choices. You will find Japanese options like sushi, American-Chinese dishes like orange chicken, similar dishes, and Cantonese food like roast duck, Hong Kong-style noodle soups, and whole fish. They are family-owned and operated. Every time we come, the elder father is always gracious and provides excellent service. The restaurant is always quiet; you can hear conversations in the back, and as customers arrive to pick up their orders, we haven't witnessed any negative interactions. Customers are always happy with their food, and the staff say thank you. The only negative is the space. The building itself is older and outdated. In the summer, it is hot, and now in the winter, there is no heat. They have found ways to make it work, like space heaters on each table, but it can still get uncomfortable if you are dining in. The back area near the bathroom and the bathroom itself need a thorough cleaning. To me, it's a turnoff; it doesn't affect the food, but it does affect the dine-in experience. I think I found a new local spot for comfort Chinese food. The service was quick, placed an order over the phone and the food was ready in twenty minutes. I ordered the crispy beef, sesame chicken and chicken chow fun. The crispy beef and sesame chicken were delicious but a bit more on the sweet side. The sesame chicken also had a lot of sauce. We got shrimp spring rolls, vegetable dumplings, crispy eggplant, beef with black mushrooms, some sushi , beef lo mein and veggie lo mein. The beef dish was good, lots of mushrooms, and the sushi/ avocado rolls were average. The eggplant was mushy and came separate from any sauce, which was thick and bland. I've been having lunch there every time I visit that area of Maryland & the food has consistently been good, plentiful & decently priced. I've had their duck (excellent), several shrimp dishes, triple delight soup (full meal in a bowl of broth). Spring rolls are hot & tasty, wonton soup is almost enough for a meal. The service is excellent, probably due to the fact that I have yet to see more than a couple of tables in use. I assume they stay in business due to take-out because I always see people coming & going & the phone ringing constantly with orders. I ordered shrimp and broccoli, and orange chicken. The flavor of the shrimp and broccoli was good, but the shrimp were mushy. I bit into one shrimp, it was a weird texture. So, I took one out of the container and proceeded to smush it with a fork. The shrimp went right through the fork. I'm not sure what causes shrimp to get that texture. I threw the whole container in the trash. The orange chicken also had a good flavor. Most of the sauce spilled in the bag due to the type of containers used. The food is very good here. I usually order for pick up and I also have eaten in. It's currently the only Chinese restaurant in my contacts and has been my go-to for more than 20 years. I would be sad to lose them. Service-oriented and quite friendly staff at the desk. I was craving some Chinese food late at night, and we discovered this place on a whim while browsing through Yelp. Typically for good Chinese food, we go to Rockville, but I'm so glad that we discovered this gem a little closer to home. I highly reccommend this place! Atmosphere: Tucked away in a tiny shopping center, this place won't stand out very much. But in the end, it's not about the frills. They keep the place very clean, and there's a lot of seating space and parking. I would definitely take my family here for a fun, quiet, quality dinner. Service: Aside from the food, the service is what really stands out to me! The lovely couple that (I assume) own the place are absolutely wonderful. They're kind, sweet, and attentive to any needs that we ever have. They take care to explain the menu, fill our tea cups and water without us asking, and even remembered us by our second visit. They truly are kind people and definitely add to the place's overall quality. Food: I'm still working on becoming a regular and exploring the menu, but everything I've tried has been flavorful and delicious. Thankfully, it's also affordable for broke college students like me!
