1. Qu Ramen
Courtney R.

Fast, convenient, and pretty good ramen in the heart of college park. I dropped in on a Game Day Saturday, ordered at the kiosk, and had my food less than 5 minutes later. The Qu Ramen was okay, the broth was super flavorful and there was plenty of mix-ins. If you're in the area, it's worth a try but not a place I'd go out of my way for (like Jinya) Heads up, there are only about 4 tables inside so be prepared to take it to go if they're full.

A6 on their menu

We came here since we wanted a quick dinner after moving our boys out of their dorms. This is an order up at the counter place, with several tables and some seating at a counter. It was clean and the menu items were in several areas for people to see. TBH, I am not a ramen fan but the rest of the family are. Two family members ordered the A6, which is a beef and ramen dish, one family ordered the chicken teriyaki with ramen, and I did a custom order of hibachi, with chicken and soy sauce, vegetables, rice, a spring roll and a side of yum-yum dipping sauce. The A6 ramen was a hit, with a tasty both and perfectly cooked ramen egg. The family member that ordered the teriyaki chicken said that the chicken tasted like salmon and gave his dish an "alright" rating. My hibachi dish was really salty. Yes, I realize I ordered it cooked with soy sauce. I guess I'm used to using low salt soy sauce. At least the veges weren't over cooked. As for the spring roll, it was doughy and unappealing. So, since I'm not a ramen fan, I doubt I will be a repeat patron.

Tonkotsu Ramen

Service was friendly and great. Food was good and the atmosphere was casual. The prices were inexpensive. We ordered: 3*Miso Tonkotsu Ramen: it was good value. Ramen was good but the soup was ordinary 3.5*Hibachi Beef with rice: rice was cooked Al dente, good texture, but not much beef or vegetables. Mostly rice. It came with spring roll. 3*Mathcha Cheesecake: a bit too sweet. 3*Fruit sweet roll: soft, moist and not too sweet.

A great quick service restaurant in College Park! I really enjoyed the hibachi meal quite a bit, which came with ample protein, great sauce, and delicious vegetables too! The egg roll and dumplings weren't great, but they were pretty tasty! The Oreo mousse cake was a great way to end the meal. One issue with the restaurant was that the interior had a semi-rotten smell, like the garbage hadn't been taken out. Other than that, it was a great experience!

6. Tonkotsu Miso Ramen

I was feeling under the weather because of all the changes in temperatures, so I thought a nice warm bowl of ramen would get me back on track. My new favorite spot is in Columbia, but I wasn't feeling up for the drive and I'm out of range for delivery. Of course I search Yelp for the best Miso ramen in my area and Qu Japan had the best reviews. I placed a delivery order for their Tonkotsu Miso Ramen, Chicken Gyoza, and a the steak and chicken Hibachi. Once everything was delivered, I was disappointed to realized their miso both for ramen is the same miso soup they give for the hibachi rice dishes aka, the miso broth is thin and pretty flavorless. The pork was juicy and flavorful, so that made up for the broth not having a lot of depth, but overall that made the dish less then filing. Also, the noodles didn't taste fresh at all. The gyoza were pretty standard. Even though they were pan seared, they didn't have a crunch on them like I was expected. I can't speak for the hibachi entree, because someone else ate it, but I can say that it didn't come with any yum sauce even though it was on the order ticket. Even though it's close, I won't be returning for ramen.

Decided I wanted ramen for lunch and figured why not check out Qu Japan. Who says you have to eat ramen just when it's cold out?? I got the Signature Ramen which has all of the things I love. I waited a few minutes and my order was out in about five minutes. I enjoyed my ramen, it had plenty of all of the various meats and was flavorful. I wish there were the additional seasonings given like at other restaurants to make it spicy but it was still good. I'll definitely come back here next time I'm craving ramen. Happy eating!

6. Tonkotsu Miso Ramen and Matcha Cheesecake

My badminton team and I (about 14 people) came to this place after our matches. There were enough seats for us that Saturday afternoon, so it wasn't packed at all. The interior was really nice and decorative. They had a ramen menu and a hibachi menu. Employees were kind and welcoming. I got the Tonkotsu Miso Ramen that came with five pieces of cha sui (roasted pork), soft boiled egg, fish cake, bok choy, and bean sprouts. The noodles were cooked nicely Al dente, but broth was VERY bland. I did not taste any tonkatsu richness from it. It seemed like they watered down the broth because miso is very strong, but I couldn't even taste that. The pork was decent as was the egg. I also got their matcha cheesecake for dessert. It had a good matcha flavor which I was surprised. But it was overly sweet and tasted a lot like white chocolate for some reason. Overall, I didn't think this meal was worth $18. I was disappointed at the broth's blandness, but the amount of meat was good. I probably wouldn't come back here again.

2. Shrimp Teriyaki Ramen

Saturday snowed making it a perfect day to grab some warm ramen. My husband and I both ordered the shrimp terriyaki ramen but he made his spicy. We also got the vegetarian gyoza. Everything was good. I think I prefer udon to the ramen here but otherwise it's great.

I was greeted when I walked in and since I was by myself I opted to sit at the sushi bar area. I forgot to take a picture of my food when I came out because I was so hungry...but the rolls were delicious and fresh. I also took some ramen home and I loved how they packaged everything up for me. I would give them a 3.75 stars because I wish they offered more ramen like beef and with the chicken broth not chicken that's fried. As the chicken was soggy and not eatable when I got home even though it was separated from the ramen. I would give them another try if I'm in the area to try more rolls and their alcohol selection.

My major contention with this experience is that our waiter, Zoe was inattentive and unprofessional. Our dessert arrived 5 minutes after receiving our dinner. I asked her if they could make our dessert fresh and her response was, how long will it take you to eat? To which I responded I don't know. It was an odd experience because most waiters are attentive enough to know when a table is ready for dessert or they simply ask. As I expected, by the time we received the fried ice cream, the plate looked sloppy and the ice cream on the inside was melted. It clearly was the same plate. Finally, while I was packing my dinner she seemed to recall she never brought me chili paste I had asked for during dinner. No apology or anything. Overall, it was a disappointing experience from a waiter who should be retrained.

Came here for lunch with a friend on a weekend. We ate family style and ordered the scallion…read morepancakes, the spicy sesame paste tofu, the spicy oil wonton pork, the chive and pork dumplings and the sesame balls (filled with red bean paste). Total (not including tip) came out to approximately $49. What's Hot - Menu. Excellent. It's also written in Chinese in addition to English. For those of us familiar with traditional ethnic Chinese food, a menu written in Chinese is a good sign. They have traditional Taiwanese and Chinese food like scallion pancakes, sesame balls, beef noodle soup, soup dumplings, etc... Very good variety and there appears to be something for everyone, possibly with the exception of vegan dishes.. - Quality. Pretty good. Their scallion pancake was soft, not too oily, and not too salty. I prefer the scallion pancake to have been a bit more thick and flaky, but that's my personal preference. To be fair, still delicious. Their chive and pork dumplings definitely had a delicious chive flavor. Substantial and the wrapper was not too thick. Their spicy sesame paste tofu had a good flavor and substantive. The chili oil wontons were not too spicy and had a good flavor. Again, my personal preference would have been for the dumplings to have been more substantive, but still pretty decent. - Service. Pretty good. It appears most, if not all their staffers, speak Chinese (Mandarin), which was also helpful, because I specifically ordered in Chinese. I asked them about the spice level, because I wanted to ensure it would not be too spicy for my friend. - Price. Pretty good value for menu and portions. - Location. It's pretty easy to find. Also within convenient walking distance to the Silver Spring metro. The inside space is pretty good. Tables can seat a minimum of 2, all the way up to 8. What's Not - Quality. The sesame balls are smaller than I expected. They're the rough approximation of a ping pong ball, maybe smaller. I was disappointed, because I like sesame balls that are substantial. - Service. I specifically asked for soup spoons, because we were eating dumplings. Instead, they gave me regular spoons. Not all the dishes come out in the order you hope. For example, main dishes may come out before the appetizers. This is going to be dependent on your personal preference. - Parking. There is parking near the restaurant, but it's going to be dependent on the day and time. Final Answer Worth coming back.

However, I just happened to be in DC on a Wednesday evening after work, and decided to stop by. Best spontaneous decision I have ever made! I put my name down, and walked around the block for maybe 10-15 mins max. We were then called inside for a table. So really the wait was not bad at all. We even got to sit at the bar and watch the chefs prepare our bowl. I got the Spicy Tonkotsu ramen and it was to die for!! The broth was incredible and truly unlike any other broth I have had. So deep in flavor and the perfect amount of heat/spice. The chashu pork was so tender yet perfectly browned on the outside. If i was being hyper-critical, I would say that I wish the noodles were a bit bouncier. But that's just a person preference. But honestly this is my new favorite ramen place. We arrived at 6PM, put our names down for a table of 4 and got seated around 8PM. The Food: Went with the Spicy Tonkatsu as my main and the Chicken Karaage as a appetizer. The ramen was pretty good. Broth was very flavorful and the noodles were cooked perfectly. The chashu pork wasn't as "melt in your mouth" as I expected, but it was still tasteful! the bowl overall was pretty good but the main thing that caught my attention was surprisingly the chicken karaage. The karaage was fried so nicely. Not oily, the batter was crisp just right and the chicken pieces were thick! Honestly the star of the show in my opinion. The Service: Service was great! Staff were pretty attentive all around. The only downside really was the wait times. The Atmosphere: Small space with an average amount of seating inside. A little tight but not a big complaint. Overall, a 4.5/5. The ramen is definitely worth a try. I'll be back again hopefully to try their other ramen selections. I'd go super early to get in line and put your name down on the waitlist. Definitely get the chicken karaage if you have the appetite for both!
