I first visited SeoulSpice a few years ago and loved it. I randomly had a taste for it and decided to go again. I created my own bowl so the options are endless. It was still as delicious as I remembered. The food was great, service was good, and the inside is bright and airy. It was a great lunchtime option. I love a good choose-your-own-adventure dining experience, and this spot nails it. All the ingredients are well-seasoned and super fresh. What I really appreciate is that there's no hidden cost when customizing your bowl--everything's upfront. This is one of the first places I frequented after moving to the area several years ago. This is Korean comfort food to me and everything I would expect a bowl to be. There is no other way to describe it. My go-to has never changed. The signature Kimchi crunch bowl that consists of purple rice, roasted chicken, sesame seeds, scallions , kimchi, bean sprouts, crispy garlic, a variety of vegetables and the ginger carrot sauce to top it off. The food is always delicious and tastes fresh. The prices are fair and the service is always good. Came here on a very cold day. Thankfully there was parking not too far away, but you do have to pay. Originally, my partner and I were trying to get something else in the area, but the hour plus line was not worth the wait (on Pi Day... can you guess where in College Park?) We bumped into SEOULSPICE, and we were super glad that we did! It was definitely the vibe we were looking for that evening: warm, filling, and tasty food with a *quieter* surrounding (the other place was loud and jam packed with people. No thank you!) The service was good: I don't remember her name, but our server was patient and explained things on the menu that I was unfamiliar with. She also was a hard worker, seeing that she looked to be the only staff member there. There are gluten free and vegetarian/vegan options, and I'm grateful for the gluten free options. My partner got a spicy chicken BYO with japchae, and I got a bulgogi BYO with purple rice. The spicy chicken with japchae was a nice combo. Though the purple rice was interesting, I would rather my short-grain white rice with bulgogi, but I'm glad I tried it! The purple rice has a grainy, nutty taste to it, and with a sweet and salty flavor next to it, the flavors complement and compete if that makes sense. The proteins were super flavorful. My one lesson for next time would be to not add all the veggies out of convenience and actually pick and choose the veggies that I actually liked (let's just say I'm not a fan of kale in my Korean food, but I did that to myself lol) Overall, if you have a craving of tasty, umami bites and don't want to spend to much time, energy, or money on a meal, this is a good spot to go to! read more

I went here with a friend who only eats gluten-free. I think it's ideal as it is naturally gluten-free, nothing needs to be substituted. She thought it was excellent.  It is excellent fast-casual food. As other reviewers mentioned, it's a similar model/setup as Chipotle. The service is fast and the employees are happy to answer questions.  I loved the spicy pork and the ginger carrot sauce. The Kimchi is also good. I loved the bowl I got. Also, the egg was a very worthwhile addition and added a lot to the bowl. Also, the lime yuzu drink was delicious and very refreshing. I love that they put a lime piece in the drink. Lastly, they gave gluten-free cookies at the counter. We got the chocolate chip one and it was solid.  The portions are great and this bowl is enough for at least a meal and a half.  I will definitely be going back here. read more

Oooh, you must get the "EGG." No matter what you order, add the EGG to it! It is a sweet soy marinated braised egg. This means the egg is not completely hard boiled or runny but has a soft creamy yolk. It goes great with a rice bowl or a salad. Just yummy. I ordered the bulgogi seoul train with the salad as a base. The only other item that I added to my order was the EGG. It was a good portion of bulgogi and I enjoyed all the ingredients. We ordered one portion of the rice and one portion of noodles. To be put in simple words it's like Korean chipotle with multiple meat options, sides and sauces that you can add. The portions were very good for the prices. Out of the both, the noodles were on the top. The chicken was very tender. Out of the sauce, ginger carrot is only favorite. I came here after working out the gym with my cousin. We were craving ANYTHING and we both agreed to try out Seoul Spice. This place really hit the spot. It's the same format as Chipotle so ordering was easy. The chicken wasn't dry and the workers were able to answer all of our questions regarding our order (which sauces are your favorite, what do you recommend, etc.) It was hot when it was given to us and the noodles were still bouncy even after walking 15 minutes away to eat it. I love this little place in college park. It's such a great idea to combine the style of Chipotle and korean food. I always mix the greens and rice as my base so I'm not eating too much rice. Their bulgogi has some good flavor in it. They ran out when I went there, but I only had to wait 5 minutes or to get a fresh batch and it was worth the wait! The korean spicy sauce was the perfect amount of heat for me. It's definitely comparable to the sauces you find in korean food (like bibimbap sauce) - not mild, but not crazy spicy. I love the food here. It is definitely not authentic, traditional Korean food, but it has a lot of flavor, and lots of healthy protein and veggie options, and is very filling. Everything on the menu is gluten free, too. They even have gluten free desserts such as rice krispy treats and cookies, from local gluten free bakery Rise. I usually order a salad with chicken, and most of the veggies. For extra flavor, I add kimchi, fire powder, korean hot sauce, and the carrot ginger dressing (not really sweet, mainly fresh grated ginger flavor). Finally, the food is ready so quick, since everything is pre-made and they just assemble it when you order. Great for a quick and reasonably priced lunch or dinner. read more

Absolutely delicious and healthy! As others mentioned, the model of food service is similar to Chipotle or Subway where you walk down a line and you choice your base, protein, toppings, and sauce. It is very efficient and the staff are all willing to answer your questions with a smile. I really like the noodles, chicken (SO GOOD), creamy siracha sauce, with all the veggie toppings. Adding sesame seeds and sesame oil gives such a wonderful aroma and when I splurge to get the avocado it just HITS. It makes the entire meal much more filling. Love the customizable bowls that are offered at this restaurant! This place feels more like a Korean fusion type of restaurant that mixes in Korean styled meats in with various vegetables and sauces, but still tastes great. I have ordered from this location for delivery twice and pick up one so far, and the food quality is still good after delivery. I usually order a bowl with the side of japchae for $10 and it lasts me a while when I eat it as a side. The japchae however is slightly more bland than I have tried at other restaurants, but still gets the job done. Would recommend anyone try this place if they are looking for something savory yet refreshing to eat. :) read more

Mind blown TWICE in two days! I was down in the area recording for an album and was taken here for lunch by my colleagues and...OMG.... I've been obsessed ever since. I don't have a picture because I inhaled it every time The flavors work really well together and remind me of some of the homemade and restaurant based Korean meals I've had over the years in LA. I appreciate having a variety of options for different health requirements (gluten-free, vegan, keto, vegetarian, dairy free... everyone can find something filling and satisfying). I had the tofu with Japchae, an assortment of veggies, and as many sauces and spices I was allowed, and let me tell you... I'm sitting at home right now, roughly 20 miles/30 minutes away contemplating faring MD traffic to head from Columbia to College Park for a bowl. I could eat here everyday and not blink an eye. It was so good I went home and recreated my own version of Japchae with kelp noodles.... Enough said, yes? This place is a casual, 'build your own bowl' establishment with Korean style comfort food options that you can choose to customize your own epic bowl! The entire menu is also gluten free! You start with choosing your base. Choices include rice, japchae noodles, salad, or you can opt for a "korrito" (your ingredients + rice wrapped in seaweed, think like a big sushi burrito) Next, you choose your protein. Options include bulgogi beef, jeyuk gui (spicy pork), sweet & savory chicken, and my personal favorite, tofu! Their tofu is caramelized in a kalbi marinade, making it super flavorful and crispy! There are numerous delightful veggie options so I won't go too much into those, but I will spend some time discussing the sauces because they are game changers. Honestly, all of their sauces are good so you can't go wrong with any of them, but I personally love the carrot-ginger and creamy siracha. They have a bunch of toppings and extras. If you try any of them at all, you must try "the egg". There is so much hype around " the egg" which I didn't understand why until I tried it. A lot of my bulgogi was burnt to the point that I couldn't chew it because it was like charcoal hard :/ The spicy pork was good though! Everytime I go to eat pokebowl, I get the beef. The best way to describe the bowl: it's *exactly* what this rice bowl tastes like- poke :O I don't think I would eat here again but I do like the ambiance and the food isn't bad! I discovered this place in the Westfield Mall in Bethesda, MD and boy did it take me by surprise! the food was really good and the staff got to know us pretty well! I really love their food. But then I started going to the one in College Park, MD and things changed. I've been there twice now and both times the servers painstakingly put the absolute bare minimum toppings. They even go as far as taking out of your bowl what they put in the bowl!? I order double kimchee but they still don't put enough on where you can get kimchee with ever bite. I love this spot! I have been dying to try a new genre of food in the college park area. We have a lot of options in this area such as nandos, &pizza, cava, and chipotle but I was quickly becoming bored. I looked up good food and found Seoulspice! This place is certainly a hidden gem. It is located beneath an apartment building next to an amazon which made it a little hard to find but boy was it worth it. The people who worked the line were so patient and knowledgeable. They even let me know what their favorite choices of veggies and sauces are for the perfect combination. The bowl was so flavorful and the spicy pork and beef were cooked to perfection. I'll be honest... Disappointing! Their k-bowls are so hipster and trendy, it is barely Korean so much as a marketing ploy to brand themselves as some cool Asian grab-and-go spot. Literally the worst Korean food I have ever eaten. Lacking serious flavor and inauthentic! We ordered two Korean burritos, japchae to share, and a bowl with bulgogi. The burritos were okay. The japchae was painfully dry, devoid of vegetables (nothing more than some carrots), and absent of sauce. I expected hints of sesame, soy sauce, and maybe some peppers and onions. Not to mention, the japchae is advertised as serving up to 4 people when in reality, the takeout container is the same size as a singular k-bowl (damn). K-bowl was fine but again lacking authentic Korean staples. Kale?? Diced cucumbers?? Bulgogi was tender and actually the best part of the bowl TBH. Although the best part of the meal was "the egg" (which for $2.50, cmon)! Delicious and full of runny yolk, drenched in sauce. Moist and tender. The saving grace! GET THE EGG, TRUST ME. read more
