Really amazing boba!! The cashier was very kind and polite. The store is incredibly clean, too :)

It's been a while since I came to Jumbo Jumbo! I tried a new dish today, but I typically get the Taiwanese Chicken over Rice or popcorn chicken. Tomato Chicken on Rice 8/10 - Tasty -- also came with egg - Very filling, generous portion Food came out in about ~10 minutes and service was good. I would come back again to try their other dishes!

Yesterday was the second time my partner and I used Uber Eats to place an order here. Both times our food arrived within about an hour. A couple weeks ago I bought a Taiwanese cookbook so wanted to compare the taste of homemade fried chicken bites (yan su ji) with a restaurant. I used an air fryer but assumed Taiwanese restaurants would use traditional methods of oil in a wok or some sort of deep fryer. The crispy chicken as well as the fried squid from Jumbo Jumbo were pretty tasty. I also enjoyed the oriental ground pork noodles. Personally I'm not a huge fan of dry bean curd but it reminded me of my parents' home cooking and it was nice to have rice as a texture contrast with the rest of the meal. Other Taiwanese places do have fancier offerings and presentation of bubble tea but Jumbo's simple mango milk tea still tasted good. The tapioca pearls were pleasantly 'Q' (having the Taiwanese prized 'Al Dente' texture). Will continue to order from them when I'm craving authentic Taiwanese street food!

A classic in the college park area. If you have to try something here, get the Taiwanese chicken w rice! It's a super satisfying meal and doesn't break the bank. Service is usually pretty quick so don't worry too much about being hungry

We came here unexpectedly on a Sunday evening at 8 pm on 10/25/20. We were surprised it was still open since most places close early on Sundays. Carryout is only available currently due to the pandemic. We ordered the Taiwanese chicken platter with ground pork rice and vegetables (cabbage and carrots) for $10.85. It was very large that it could actually feed 2 people unless you're starving. The chicken looked burnt, but was juicy inside. If you're not a regular customer, the menu is a little confusing because Taiwanese chicken could be ordered alone as an appetizer for $8.30 or as a platter for $10.85. Wait time for an in-person order was 15 minutes. The prices seem to be high if you are a college student. But an occasional visit would be best if you're on a budget.

Such a convenient location for College Park to have Jumbo Jumbo as cheap eats and boba. As always, they're known for their Taiwanese Popcorn chicken (I highly recommend). They're very generous with their portion sizes. I also ordered Ground Pork on Rice with an egg which tasted okay and I probably wouldn't order it again. It didn't impress me but it is incredibly filling. A friend ordered The Cripsy Asian Chicken which looked more appealing in my opinion. I'd say their noodle based dishes may be a better option.

i love coming here for boba and taiwanese comfort food! cheap 4 buck boba??? YES PLEASE. i always get the jasmine green tea. best classic. j a warning, their drinks are on the bit sweeter side! Beef noodle soup [4/5] They use like udon noodles which I'm not a HUGE fan of, still loved it regardless tho. Rlly tasty and has chunks of meat. Taiwanese Chicken with Pork on Rice [4.5/5] Pretty straightforward. Their tasty crispy popcorn chicken with rice and minced meat on the side. The minced meat was a bit on the blander side but all in all super comfort food that always makes me happy. The veggies were also kinda bland and dry with the fried chicken but I'm not complaining lol.

In Domee Shi's animated film, Turning Red, a thirteen-year-old girl, Meilin, transforms into a room-sized red panda whenever she starts to feel a crush coming on. One memorable infatuation: the members of the late-nineties boy-band 4*Town. As a teenager, my wife's infatuations included the lead singers of Duran Duran (Simon Le Bon) and Wham! (George Michael). But what if the setting for the film was today and the metaphor for coming of age (puberty) was Taiwanese food and/or Bubble Tea. The Campus Drive location of Jumbo Jumbo, across the parking lot from the University of Maryland, could fill that role in a pinch. With entrees like Taiwan-Styled Combo Noodle Soup, Tomato Chicken on Rice, Taiwanese Chicken, and Spicy Pepper Pork on Rice, your taste buds will twirl like a red panda's tail, without attracting any unwanted attention!

Taiwanese Lo Mei & Taro Milk Tea Boba

Finally stopped by this place, I had the Taiwanese Lo Mei and forgot to ask for shrimp instead of beef. Not sure if that is even possible. I enjoy the portion of this plate, but as you can see I did not eat the beef. We also order the Fried Combo as appetizer and it's sprinkled w/old bay and Cajun I believe. I really like the Taro Milk Tea, i had the jumbo size. This was such a nice treat post eric nam night at the Filmore. I will recommend stopping by the ice cream shop next door after as a treat This is the menu and right now the restroom is out of service so the restroom has turned to a single restroom. Very clean place not only that but if you happen to eat in, they have the trash can is near the entrance/exit and they have a lil section on top of the trash where you can dump your leftovers or stuff and then place the plates for them to pick them up.

I have been coming here for many years now and i've never had a bad experience! Truly the best place in the DMV to get Taiwanese comfort/fast food! Whenever I come here I always order popcorn chicken. It is so delicious and they give you a good sized portion. If you don't know what to order, get this!!! it's easy to eat in the car and always so good. I also always order their beef noodle soup & their seafood combination soup. Beef noodle soup is a huge comfort food for me and they make it so well. Everything tastes so good here, I live in Virginia and I drive over a hour to come here each time but it's always worth it. They have a HUGE drink menu and so many different flavors you can choose for your boba. I always stick to their house black milk tea with boba and it's always so good. Right now they don't allow dine in but they do have tables outside of their restuarant where you can sit at. If you're in search of a good Taiwanese restaurant like i was, this is a great place to go to!!!

Jumbo Jumbo is a casual sit-down restaurant that specializes in traditional Taiwanese dishes. They are most known for their popcorn chicken but also have a lot of other delicious small plates to choose from! I highly recommend their tofu dishes. You won't be disappointed!

I LOVE this place... cheap, great food, comforting. I always come here on a rainy day. Their bubble tea is OKAY, but definitely come here for the food.

Ive had more than my share of milk teas here in the US, overseas in the land of boba, Taiwan, and…read morein HK and this place sadly fell short of what it could be. First, their location is very inconvenient unless you are on foot, which may be great for U of MD students, but if you are in a car, its a disaster when it comes to parking. This business even has a sign saying ask about a parking pass and they are not responsible if your car is towed. This alone makes this place already super unattractive. I fought my instincts and gave this place a try, but honestly, felt like I wasted $12. They have a digital kiosk where you can order your drinks and I chose a HK style milk tea (hot) with less sugar and also a jasmine milk tea with boba. The ordering for the jasmine tea was weird because it has an option to choose $1 extra for boba but if you scroll a little further down, you can get boba, no extra charge. I thought that was a bit sneaky, which I didn't appreciate. I waited about 15 min and then my order was ready. The HK style milk tea was supposed to be in a glass container but I only saw the sign after I ordered that they didnt have glass containers. That really sucked. The other issue is that when my HK style milk tea (hot) was ready, it was barely warm, which also was disappointing as it was a bit cool outside and I wanted something hot to warm me up. The HK milk tea also wasn't that great either, nothing special. I've had HK milk teas for about $2 elsewhere and they were great, but this was overpriced and lukewarm. I wont be ordering this again. The other drink seemed OK as I ordered it for someone else. I also thought this place was kind of dirty and could have been more clean. Not sure why the windows looked so dirty. I found the place kind of gross and it just didnt feel as clean as I like businesses to be. Overall, a pretty underwhelming experience. You get one chance to make a good impression especially when there are so many boba options available. I definitely wont be coming back here again.

Introduction to another part of my in-town runner-ups from my alphabet series:…read more Finished my prior to 2018 to 2024 alphabet series, but before continuing onto my 2025 picks, I realized when choosing 2025 picks, I had more that were out of town on vacation than in town, and I wanted to support local places (even if they are chains in some cases) in central MD & DMV. For example, my original K pick representing 2018 was in Wilmington, DE. I didn't have a runner-up replacement for 2018 representing O, which was a restaurant in Lancaster, PA or V, one in Tempe, AZ. So, K is for Kung Fu Tea is the only business representing 2018 for the runner-up business. Kung Fu Tea experience: I first discovered Kung Fu, I think in the early part of 2018. From 2017 to 2020, I lived in Wheaton, so downtown Silver Spring wasn't far. I went to this location a few times in this time period. In summer 2018, I took 2 or 3 dates to this location after dinner or what have you. We drank our boba tea outside. This is a very small location with perhaps a couple of inside benches but mainly for to go. I guess if the weather was bad, you could hang in Ellsworth Place, the mall connected to the Kung Fu Tea. Boba tea is solid here, but there are some better places. In 2024, I was down here for an advanced movie screening at Regal Majestic, and I had a 20% off at Kung Fu Tea. The cashier couldn't figure out how to redeem the deal, so I walked out because the 20% off was the catalyst for going there in the first place. So, I wasn't impressed with the staff that day. I like some other locations better.
