Crispy fried wings! - A metal tray filled with crispy fried chicken wings is placed on a table, with a drink and condiments nearby.

This place is a little run down but you not going to sit down and eat there. Their whole fried wings and mambo sauce is the best thing on the menu to me. It's the closest thing to mambo sauce outside DC and the whole wings are fried crunchy perfect everytime. I usually order 10-20 at a time and my kids devour it. If they freshen up the place, I would give it 5 stars!

It's a great neighborhood Chinese take out restaurant. The dishes are more catered to Americans than Chinese. Usually we order shrimp egg foo young here. Many authentic Chinese restaurants don't carry this dish. The egg foo young was pretty good. Although lunch special is marketed for 11 am to 3:30 pm. When I called in for an order at around 2:40 pm, I was charged for dinner price at $14.83 in cash. Add $1 for credit card payment. It was still pretty reasonable price, but I didn't appreciate the dishonesty and it left bad taste in the mouth.

This is truly one of my favorite spots to pick up carry out food. The service is always on point. The folks behind the counter Really care about their clientele and even go the extra mile to make their customers happy. On this particular trip we were offered a free combination rice platter but we kindly rejected and left it for the next person as we didn't need it. What we did order however was the chicken and broccoli and shrimp fried rice and both of them were amazing. Seasoned well and always a hit in our household. if you're ever in a tough spot or in a pinch I need a place to go for some good late night carry out, this is your place don't go anywhere else.

Pick up order via Uber Eats. My boyfriend and I got a flyer in our door, so we've been wanting to try this spot for a few weeks and finally did. My boyfriend picked up the order and said the service was good. I was very excited to see they use crinkle fries and thought the food was going to remind me of American Deli. Welp... I was very disappointed. The wings were overcooked, it's as if they had wings that were sitting out and then got our order, and then fried them again to warm them up. I felt the same about the fries. The flavor of the wings was good, however the staleness of the food overrode the flavor. I would not eat here again, unfortunately

I haven't been back to this restaurant in many years. I used to live close and now, a little further. I love the variety they have on their menu and I have found they have good food. Our family shared Beef with Broccoli with Brown sauce (they also offer in garlic sauce) and Beef Chow Foon noodles. Eggrolls and Crab Rangoon for appetizers. The Beef in the Broccoli was slightly different than the one in the Chow Foon noodles. This Beef was tender and not fatty. The Broccoli was not overly cooked so it was good in this dish. I never like too much stem in these and it a little less done here. The Chow Foon noodles had lots of onion (which I like) and the noodles were tender and not too clumped (sometimes happens in a container). Some of the beef was a little too fatty and had to remove. Overall, other than adding some heat, is was very good. Eggrolls and Crab Rangoon was typical, they were hot an fresh. Rangoon is a skinny triangle rather than a more traditional shape. Really think they have just cream cheese mostly, but its an appetizer I like. Next time, maybe the wings, have seen some great reviews.

Hands down, the best Chinese carryout I've ever had! The fried rice was cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of soy sauce and scrambled eggs. The chicken was tender and juicy, and the fries were crispy and flavorful. The combination was absolute magic! The portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable. I'll definitely be back for more! 5 stars and highly recommended!

Great food great service! Delicious General Tso's chicken--perfect balance of flavors!

Total (not including tip) came out to approximately $49. What's Hot - Menu. Excellent. It's also written in Chinese in addition to English. For those of us familiar with traditional ethnic Chinese food, a menu written in Chinese is a good sign. They have traditional Taiwanese and Chinese food like scallion pancakes, sesame balls, beef noodle soup, soup dumplings, etc... Very good variety and there appears to be something for everyone, possibly with the exception of vegan dishes.. - Quality. Pretty good. Their scallion pancake was soft, not too oily, and not too salty. I prefer the scallion pancake to have been a bit more thick and flaky, but that's my personal preference. To be fair, still delicious. Their chive and pork dumplings definitely had a delicious chive flavor. Substantial and the wrapper was not too thick. Their spicy sesame paste tofu had a good flavor and substantive. The chili oil wontons were not too spicy and had a good flavor. Again, my personal preference would have been for the dumplings to have been more substantive, but still pretty decent. - Service. Pretty good. It appears most, if not all their staffers, speak Chinese (Mandarin), which was also helpful, because I specifically ordered in Chinese. I asked them about the spice level, because I wanted to ensure it would not be too spicy for my friend. - Price. Pretty good value for menu and portions. - Location. It's pretty easy to find. Also within convenient walking distance to the Silver Spring metro. The inside space is pretty good. Tables can seat a minimum of 2, all the way up to 8. What's Not - Quality. The sesame balls are smaller than I expected. They're the rough approximation of a ping pong ball, maybe smaller. I was disappointed, because I like sesame balls that are substantial. - Service. I specifically asked for soup spoons, because we were eating dumplings. Instead, they gave me regular spoons. Not all the dishes come out in the order you hope. For example, main dishes may come out before the appetizers. This is going to be dependent on your personal preference. - Parking. There is parking near the restaurant, but it's going to be dependent on the day and time. Final Answer Worth coming back.

I also feel like it's rare to be able to out these days and get a $12 entree where you feel like you had a good meal. Nothing has stood out as great, but the fried rice, the orange chicken, the dumplings and several of their soups have been good enough for me to order from them again. The food was prepared fresh and delicious. I ordered a General Tso's Lunch Special and a Sweet n' Sour Soup. All were prepared perfect and tasted excellent. Food was ordered and ready right on time; roughly 10 minutes from the time I walked in and placed the order. Not sure with what the food would look like as this was my first time coming here, I was in for a pleasant surprise. The General Tso's Chicken was still piping hot even after driving back home for about 15 minutes. And, most of all not soggy or mushy!.... something I can't stand when ordering takeout!! The plate and servings were hefty and quite generous. The chicken was a mixed between white and dark meat. It was seasoned just right and so crispy, even after sitting in the container for my drive back home. The General Tso sauce was very tasty as well. My only gripe is that the dish comes with fried rice and I am not sure with what's up with most of the carryouts around the DMV, but a lot of them served this yellow - orangish fried rice that is not the most appealing to me, but I must honestly admit....it was dang good. Lol. I prefer a more wok-charred, brown fried rice over the neon fried rice served here and other places around the DMV. The Hot n' Sour soup gets a thumbs-up and good marks from my end. It was tangy, spicy, and sweet all roll into one. A delicious bowl of tofu, mushrooms, tamarind, and spices that aim to please. In all, Mandarin Restaurant is a solid option when in the Downtown Silver Spring Area and you are looking for something good to eat. The owner was very pleasant and he greeted me as soon as I walked in the door. His wife was very friendly as well and made sure I had all the proper fixings I needed to complete my dish; including my request for extra soy sauce and hot chili oil which complimented and elevated both dishes very well. If it wasn't for the neon orange looking fried rice, I probably would've given this place five stars as a first impression. Also, they could've served more broccoli in the dish than the two pieces that I received Lol -- see pic as receipts. The restaurant itself has limited seating but it appeared to be a popular takeout service with most that came in and patroned the place. A decent winner in my book and will definitely be back to try out other dishes.

None of us were from this area, and we intended to go to the Mayflower Chinese Restaurant, based on Yelp reviews. However, once we walked in the door, it was apparent this place was focused on carryout, and there was no way we were staying to eat in their dingy entrance area. We walked next door to the Meleket Ethiopian restaurant. However, the place was deserted, and we didn't stay there either. We tried the Lime & Cilantro, the next place down, but it was packed and couldn't handle our group. So, we skipped past the verernary clinic and went to Spring Garden. And, what a great choice that was. They offer a huge menu of Chinese, Thai, and Japanese meals. Everything is reasonably priced. Once we got our food, we were impressed with the quality and portion sizes. And, through it all, the service was prompt and friendly. I ordered Hot and Sour soup (my bellwether for Chinese restaurants) and beef chow fun. The soup was flavorful without being overpowering, and the chow fun was delicious too. I liked everything so much that I ordered another soup and Thai Basil with Chicken to go, and that's been my lunch for the past couple of days. Don't be put off by the seediness of its location.
