I ordered from Panda Wok through GrubHub, and my food was just ok. I went with an order of the Bourbon Chicken combination platter, which came with an egg roll, and a beef curry roll. The later was ordered to meet the minimum delivery fee. Personally, I thought the beef curry and egg rolls were way too greasy. However, I guess that's to be expected from most Chinese American take-out places. Unfortunately, I thought the bourbon chicken was EXTREMELY dry. To be frank, I really did not eat much of the the actual chicken. One saving grace was the portions or pork fried rice and chicken were huge. While I do not eat Chinese American take-out too frequently, I probably will pass on Panda Wok - especially considering that there are several other options in the area. read more

I had a very good meal from Panda Wok last night. Both the hunan chicken and the Singapore noodles were very good. The hunan chicken was spicy, had a nice flavor, and the chicken was very good quality, with a pleasant texture and no gristle. I was in the area visiting some friends on the day news broke about our President Elect and VP Elect and what better way to end the night than with some noodles. I forgot to take a picture, but my friend and I ordered some beef lo mein and crab rangoons, and I also ordered the Mongolian beef combo to bring home for the hubs for later. The crab rangoons is where I minus a star because it wasn't that very good. I wouldn't recommend it from here. The wonton wrappers are a bit dry and the filling was bland. The beef lo mein was bomb! I would so recommend and order this again the next time I'm craving noodles in Wheaton. I'd also highly recommend the Mongolian beef. This was my first time ordering Mongolian beef from any American-Chinese food place and whaaat, I've been missing out! It comes with pork fried rice and an egg roll. I was in the process of placing a $100 order. I had ordered a large order last month and received a soup that was not prepared correctly. The container had the seafood but the spices, vinegar, and sauce were missing resulting in a "water" seafood soup. It was an honest mistake on their part. I had forgotten to call but felt that there would be no problem in asking for a replacement soup in my current order since we were old customers. But no! They would rather lose my business forever than help a repeat customer out. This is common in Chinese restaurants. They will not do the right thing to keep their customers. Too bad! The good news is that we have found another restaurant, Red Ginger. The food is as good or better and the servings are more consistent with what restaurants serve rather than the smaller servings that Panda Wok sells. Very solid American-Chinese food fare - WAY better than the other cheap takeout places in the area. The favorites are good (orange chicken, general tso's, you know the drill), prepared fresh and very savory. Get the combination with the spicy pork fried rice - tons of food for less than 10 bucks. Their noodles are also really yummy, try the Singapore noodles if you're feeling like something a bit different. I don't give it five stars for two reasons. The first is because it's a bit dirty and they don't really enforce masking/social distancing policies. It's fine because most customers do it themselves anyways, but I've seen instances where folks come in and order without masks - no complaints from staff. The second reason is because their dumplings (steamed or fried) are down-right nasty. The pork tends to be undercooked and has given me an upset stomach a couple times. The sweet & sour chicken is GROSS! To the pt of being inedible. The sauce is the cheapest ever, no pineapple or pepper chunks in it & the overwhelming flavor is vinegar. Disgusting. Skip it. In fact, skip ordering food anywhere between Olney and the District line in Silver Spring - totally not worth the chance you'll be taking. I ordered Egg Rolls - I've never tasted anything quite that nasty. I spit the first bite out into my wastebasket. Foul taste! I opened up the egg roll to find some very sketchy RED item - a sausage? - that I've never ever seen in an Egg Roll before. Threw both of them into the same wastebasket. Ordered some General Tse's combo plate and that food had been sitting under a heat lamp for a good 12-24 hours - hard as a rock, tasteless, with all the appeal of 3-day leftovers. Into the same wastebasket, it went. Also ordered Shrimp with Lobster Sauce - lots and lots and lots of white rice, a cup or two of Sauce and about 6 shrimp, watered down, tepidly flavored. Also ordered Hot and Sour Soup. It was water primarily with some undercooked mushrooms and beansprouts. Just a total tasteless, gut-upsetting, disappointing, anger-provoking experience. This area was once filled with careful menus, spotless service, and a satisfying food experience, but NO MORE. Truly - make yourself some scrambled eggs and skip this whole idea of ordering from this place OR any place in this area. read more

The food from the Panda Wok is fantastic and always delivered hot, fresh and fast. And the service from the staff is stellar. Each time I call, I have one item that's a special order. The woman who answers the phone always listens carefully to the entire order and is kind enough to read all the items back to me to ensure I've given her the correct info. Today I ordered food for myself and a family member; everything arrived hot and fresh within 20 minutes! An even bigger surprise happened when the delivery driver knocked on my door again just 10 minutes later. It turned out that I'd inadvertently overpaid by $20! He not only returned the extra $20 bill, he brought the receipt showing the actual amount. I am beyond grateful for his kindness and integrity! And I'm so grateful the Panda Wok is still going strong after all the challenges of this past year. I urge everyone reading this review to check them out if you haven't already. This place has really gone downhill. Things like various eggrolls are over fried and greasy, as are many of their entrees. The chicken dishes, such as Bourbon Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Kung Po Chicken-- the chicken is as hard as a rock. Evidently they use breaded chicken, fried extra hard, for many of their dishes. The Bourbon Chicken is not fried, yet it also is as hard a rock for some reason. Their Chow Fun noodle dishes used to be good..the last two times, these wide flat noodles were so chopped up and slopped around in an extra greasy wok, there were no visible noodles--just tiny pieces of what was-maybe boiled chips off whole noodles? Their rice--either fried or steamed, is served very dry. Unless you eat it quickly before it cools down, you can't sit there for 5 minutes eating your rice dishes without it the rice being too hard & inedible. Their vegetable dishes are mostly comprised with huge hunks of broccoli and onions. You can ask for no broccoli or onions, but they will only remove the broccoli, not the huge chucks of onions. A few onions is fine, not a whole plateful. What a shame. read more

This small takeout place has been my goto for Chinese American food. There are so many cheap Chinese places, all kinda have good and bad inconsistencies. PW is consistent, fast on delivery (I use Beyond Menu) and the best value. It's not gonna be as good (or have the more traditional fare) of Bobs or others, but it's about 1/3 the price. Some things can be on the sweet side, too sweet for my taste. The crispy beef is candied beef basically, and the orange chicken or anything that is sweet like general tsos is overly battered and cloying. So unless I'm in the mood I generally skip those. They have the best mu shu I think in the area (outside of the places that charge twice as much). A good amount of fungus in it instead of being just cabbage stir fry. The meat dishes generally are a lot of meat. The fried chicken is decent if you are in the mood. I really like their pan fried dumplings. And the Singapore noodles are a huge portion. The kung pao is far from what you get at a Szechuan place, but I'm OK with it. The boneless pork rib (that char sui style) is a giant tub that feeds me for days. Decent egg roll and an acceptable hot and sour soup. And I like the sweet and sour pork or chicken. Nice and crispy. The string bean dishes are good "dry cooked" style (so they are wrinkled with some chew, not like mushy steamed or boiled). Lo mein is kinda heavy for me. But it's standard quality which is good. The fried rice that comes with the lunch specials tends to be greasy and bland. Seeing Thai style curries and basil chicken on the menu has me curious (many immigrants from places other than China seem to open Chinese American food places - one of the fried chicken places has a hidden Malaysian menu that's really good), so sometimes their real specialty is thai, but I haven't tried it yet. Or maybe they just are trying to appeal to that pan Asian demand and it's basic canned curry. Idk. read more

I LOVE panda Wok!!!!!!!! I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy they are back open now. I went into withdrawal when they were closed for a short time due to the beginning of the pandemic. I had a friend who literally called everyday till they opened again. Can't go wrong with rangoons, fried wontons, egg foo Yung, soups, fried wontons, Mongolian beef, and many more! Love love love their pan fried meat dumplings and general tso's chicken. It's a solid 2.5 stars. This is the first time I tried Panda Wok, as I didn't feel like picking up from my usual place (no delivery - boo!) and the other delivery place had a disconnected phone (I wonder if it's still open). But anyhow... I ordered mu shu, crab Rangoon, Szechwan beef, and steamed veggie dumplings. I also had a coupon for a free chicken lo mein. The crab Rangoon were fried very nicely, with a crisp golden outside. The cream cheese filling was kind of bland, and the sweet and sour sauce it comes with was kind of gloopy. The mu shu was plentiful but not terribly flavorful. It wasn't bad, just way better once I added hoisin sauce. I didn't try the other two dishes (my roommate) but they looked good, with some fresh-looking veggies. I tried a quick forkful of the chicken lo mein, which again was not terribly flavorful but not bad. I might order from there again if I'm feeling exceptionally lazy, but between the lack of super tastiness and the fact that I was overcharged by about five bucks (not gonna fight over that), I don't think it's going to be a regular go-to. read more

Best American-Chinese food in the area, by far. All the classics are awesome, not too greasy, and higher quality than the standard cheap Chinese food stereotype. And the price is unbelievable... $6 for a lunch combo? What? General Tso's is spot on, small crispy pieces of chicken cooked perfectly with good sauce. Crab rangoon is perfect, nice and crispy with good filling. The twist here is the chicken wings, which are to die for, especially the lemon pepper ones. And you get 10 wings for $6. WHAT. Extremely rude. Tried to place an order via Uber Eats and requested contactless delivery ( a pandemic duh). The driver just did t want to do his job and told me if I wanted it now, I can go meet him in the lobby or it would take him 30 mins to deliver to my door( it's a 30 second elevator ride wth) then he hung up on me. I then contacted the restaurant they tried to tell me they couldn't deliver to me door because my building doesn't allow it when that's a bold face lie. We were looking for a change from our usual Chinese delivery place and, based on Yelp reviews, we tried Panda Wok. We were delighted that we did! Let's get the negative out of the way first ... while most people have commented on the super-speedy delivery, I have to say that I found it to be on the slower side. We placed our order online at 5:30 on a Saturday evening and then called at 6:15 when our food had not yet been delivered. They were short on drivers, apparently. We had our food within an hour and when it arrived, it was still quite hot. The slower delivery was made up for in spades by the deliciousness of the food though!!! We ordered Spring Rolls, Shrimp with Broccoli, and the General Tso's Combo platter. While the Shrimp with Broccoli was VERY short on Shrimp (we got the small for $6.25 and the order only had 8 shrimp in it), the shrimp were on the bigger side and were actually deveined! The broccoli tasted like it was fresh, not frozen, and the brown sauce was delicious. The Spring Rolls were also good, with more of a crispy and flaky outside than I usually receive around these parts. And the General Tso's was actually CRISPY. I've never, ever had crispy General Tso's before. It was awesome. The Pork Fried Rice that came with the General Tso's was really good too, with plenty of pork in it. The portions are very generous (we have tons of leftovers) and I can't believe how cheap this place is. This food actually tastes like someone makes it, not like it's frozen and heated up prior to delivery. I'm amazed and super excited. Coupled with the ease of their online ordering system - you can select your level of spicy-ness for EVERYTHING you order, and you can also add comments for each part of your order - you just can't get better than this. I just needed something quick and cheap today, so based on Yelp reviews, I decided to give this local takeout joint a try. Quick it was not. That was not because of incompetence but rather, popularity. There were quite a few takeout orders (mostly phoned in) stacked up ahead of mine so I just had to sit there and wait. But popularity is always a good sign and a confidence-builder, so I began to suspect ordering from here might not have been a bad idea. The place is tiny and mainly for takeout. Not too cool inside today (late August). And I will bet it is freezing in the winter. I can't imagine the circumstances under which I would actually grab a stool at their little counter by the window and consume there, but I suppose one never knows. I like to keep it simple on the first date, so I stayed with a vegetarian option. I went with the Hunan Tofu, which was a plentiful portion. Ingredients were very fresh and it was tasty, if not mind-blowing. Next time I will get a little more adventurous. I have my eye on the basil rice with shrimp and chicken. I think I trust them enough to order shrimp there. I think... Aside from a bounteous and cheap Chinese menu, they also offer wings, sweet potato fries and even fried plantains. Normally I am not a fan of "please the world" menus but I guess it works for them here. I really like that you can see the kitchen from the counter where you order the food. The only negative (and it isn't much of one) is that they sneaked some zucchini into my stir fry. Fo' real? Since when is zucchini a Chinese vegetable? Icky baby corn I can handle and expect. We decided to give Panda Wok a try based on the Yelp reviews, and I'm so happy we did. We've ordered a few times from them, each through their online ordering system. through their website. Ordering online comes with a small delivery fee, but for the ease of ordering it can't be beat. Thumbs up! We really appreciate the variety of the menu, and the fact that we can get both vegan and meaty fare. Their online system also allows us to specify the level of spiciness as well as whether we want brown rice instead of white rice, which is a plus for us. They tend to go easy on the spice, so after our first time we just order extra spicy on all spicy dishes. As other reviewers have noticed, the portions are large, so plan on leftovers and don't go hog wild when you order because you'll be swimming in food. Delivery has been prompt and on-time each time, and--again because we could note this in the online ordering system (have I mentioned that I love the online ordering system?)--they were perfectly patient and understanding of the time it took us to secure our dogs (who treat every delivery as a potential home invasion by communist flesh-eating zombies out to get me). However on this occasion I feel compelled to write a review because of the horrible experience I have had. I ordered delivery. 2 soups, Szechuan chicken, crab Rangoon. And I live like 3-4 mins from this place. It took 1hr and 30mins for the food to be delivered. I called after 1 hour, she said a couple more minutes. "They were very busy". I thought that maybe the food would be worth it but no such luck. The sweet and sour soup and the chicken corn soup lacked salt and flavor. The crab Rangoon was cold because of the length of time it took for my food to get here. The Szechuan chicken was more like Szechuan vegetables with few pieces of chicken for garnish. My boyfriend and I love ordering late night delivery from here. First of all, the food arrives in a timely manner, we have never had to wait any longer than the receptionist told us on the phone. Second the food arrives HOT, I actually had to wait a few minutes for it to cool down before eating it which is great, because more often than not delivery places deliver luke warm food. Third, the prices are fantastic. Their combos meal are an excellent value, and so is everything else on the menu (and they have a very extensive menu). Fourth, YUM. The food is fresh and flavorful, never to greasy, burnt, etc. I have been more than satisfied with everything I have ordered from here. Im not saying its the most refined chinese food on the plant, but its good and more than gets the job done. All in all, this is a great little place. If your in the wheaton/silver spring area and craving some late night (or early night) chinese food, this is the place you want to go to. read more

Surprisingly good food with really fast local delivery. The dishes are usually very meaty with token vegetables, which is hard to complain about, although the ratio varies each time we order. We don't mind much and actually look forward to being moderately surprised. Sometimes a little more veggies would balance things out, such as more broccoli in the beef & broccoli, but I'm sure others might then complain they were paying for the meat but getting filler. The spicy dishes are pretty spicy, so take that seriously. Many dishes are pretty flavorful, such as the beef & broccoli and the red curry chicken, but some others tend to be more bland. The General Tso's varies a little in that regard but is generally (ha!) tasty. The sweet & sour chicken is surprisingly light and very well done, heavily battered but lightly fried, but doesn't have much of its own flavor and there were no pineapple or veggies to give it some pop. The sweet and sour sauce is orange but doesn't taste like much at all and is neither sweet nor sour, just orange and saucy. Most dishes are made with good quality ingredients - we've never had chewy, stringy, or gristly beef or chicken like the meats some places serve. The rice has always been top-notch--the sticky kind you hope to get, never dried out or undercooked. The crab Rangoon is spectacular, as others have commented, just be advised that it doesn't always travel well and can arrive kind of soggy, so let your distance from the restaurant and traffic conditions be your guide. As with the sweet & sour chicken, the dipping sauce doesn't have any flavor. Some dumpling sauce or your favorite store-bought S&S sauce augments it nicely. We order from Panda Wok about once a month and have never had that over-salted feeling you have after many meals, also suggesting they rely on quality ingredients instead of lots of salt or other things to make it just memorable. Drivers have always been fast and friendly, often arriving well before expected even in terrible weather. There's enough to try on the menu to keep us ordering again and again, trying new things while still circling back to our favorites. read more
