Love Lamoon Thai- have recommended it to many people when it comes to Thai food. It's in downtown Silver Spring and there's some street parking but it's not the most convenient it's across from Safeway, which is a good landmark to remember. There's always plenty of seating and they have this cute decor where you could potentially take some pictures for Insta and the staff are always very nice very cordial. I like all their food. I like the waterfall pork salad. That's pretty unique and you can't usually find that at every single Thai restaurant the classics are great the drunken noodles a pat Thai the curries are great. I personally really like Pang Curry and Massaman. I also like their Larb salads. I just don't think you can go really wrong with anything and my friends and I love Thai food. read more

I recently dined in at Lamoon for the first time (I typically have it delivered). I was eager to try their lunch specials because not many places have affordable specials anymore! Service was fine, nothing special, but the food was delicious! I ordered the pad thai, which came with 2 spring rolls and a salad for only about $14! Ordered Lamoon Thai through DoorDash and wow, everything hit the spot! I got the Thai basil fried rice with chicken, crab rangoon, and mango sticky rice. The fried rice was perfection--flavorful with just the right amount of spice. The crab rangoon was okay, but not a must-have for me next time. The real star was the mango sticky rice (green and gorgeous!) that tied the whole meal together. Absolutely delicious. Fun decor with tropical flower themes and also lots of cats. The servers put together my bowl with fresh rice, chicken, and vegetables quickly. I street parked in front of the restaurant with no issue. Food was delicious and flavorful. One thing to note is there's no option to customize the food if you purchase through TGTG since they provide whatever is available on surplus that day. Finding street parking would be a bit difficult as this street is always busy and congested. The portion was reasonable, considering the price. I haven't seen duck curry at other Thai places so I decided to try. It was flavorful and interesting, but the rice was pretty dry. Spring rolls were small like lumpia, fresh and crispy. The filling was okay, but I tasted more under-seasoned cellophane noodles. The shrimp and pork wontons in the soup were great, but the soup was significantly under seasoned. Came here with my wife and mother in law a couple of years ago on a Groupon in 2020 right before the pandemic and again on Uber Eats in 2022 and we can't find the receipt that far back to remember what we ordered. But everything I had when dining in - from the Tom Yum soup to the spicy beef herb - was, and I'm sorry to say it, unacceptable. I've had many Tom Yum soups in my life, but never one as sweet and cloying. The beef came with a shocking amount of salt and was doused in an overwhelming sauce. I ordered delivery here through door dash this past weekend. I ordered the drunken noodles and the crab Rangoon spring rolls. The crab Rangoon spring rolls were very good. The filling is very yummy with a hint of old bay to make it a real DMV appetizer. The drunken noodles were good, however, fair warning, they are SPICY! I am not a weakling in terms of spice and always ask they keep the normal spice on my noodles but their normal was extra spicy! I loved the flavor but it was so spicy I couldn't fully enjoy it. So if you order it and want a medium spicy I say definitely make sure you put that in the request. But if you love extra spicy then these are for you! Terrific Thai in downtown Silver Spring! Thanks to Groupon, Lamoon Thai was my destination for lunch yesterday with a friend. We both were very pleased with our meals - and dismayed to see few other patrons in the restaurant - so I wanted to share our positive experience. I really enjoyed each element of my meal - the main course (crispy duck with steamed broccoli) and the soup (tom yum chicken) were cooked as expected and had good flavor. My friend tried the pad Thai and tom yum soup. She gave both a thumbs up!! I asked for the sweet-spicy tamarind sauce on the side for the duck because I like it crispy and not soggy. This place was great. We ordered green curry, drunken noodles with tofu, pad thai, and tofu panang curry for take out. Upon entering, the place looked clean and had a table where all the orders were placed for contactless pick up. All of it was pretty good and had a nice level of spice. The pad thai was probably my least favorite. The drunken noodles were surprisingly the spiciest. Although I asked for some hot peppers in fish sauce, it was not included with our order. Lamoon is my favorite Thai restaurant in Silver Spring. Their lunch special is incredible value, combined with authentic Thai flavors, great portions, and an affordable price in a time when many restaurants have drastically increased prices. I typically get Lamoon to go, as I prefer taking Thai food home. The restaurant is quiet, has plenty of seating and is fairly empty at the times I have gone to eat. Service is quick, with food typically coming out in 10 minutes or less. There can be difficulty finding street parking but there is public garage parking nearby. Lamoon is a must try if you're craving Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, Green Curry (exceptionally good here), or Ka Prow. read more

This was my first visit since the changeover from its former incarnation, Thai Market. It's not a market anymore. You simply order your food at the counter and can eat in the renovated space or take your food to go. During COVID times they had limited spaced out seating. No one was dining in when I came to pick up my food. I luckily scored a parking spot right in front of the restaurant. I got my usual pad see ew with tofu ($10.95). They didn't skimp on the tofu. It was very good, and enough for a second dinner. The calamari ($7) was not to my liking. I specially asked for no tentacles and they honored my request. The calamari was too rubbery. The birds liked it though! The Thai ice tea ($2.95) was really refreshing. I don't like regular ice tea, but Thai tea is great. I was surprised that the food was hot and freshly made, because there's no guarantee as to how fresh the food is in a surprise bag on TooGoodToGo. For my order, I received 1 takeaway container that contained a combination of fried noodles with tofu, steamed white rice, a spicy chicken stir fry with veggies, and a ground pork stir fry with veggies. Everything was well-seasoned, flavorful, and one of the dishes had a nice spicy kick to it. - Menu. Their general menu looks pretty good, especially with the variety. What I appreciate about their menu is that it's not Asian fusion. There are some dishes that may not be true ethnic Thai food, but for the most part, their menu is Thai. - Portion. Pretty good. For the amount I paid and for what I received, I would guesstimate that I received more than what I paid for. I was initially surprised to receive only 1 takeaway container of food. However, given the variety and quality of food I received, I would say it worked out very well. - Service. When I told the staff that I was picking up my TooGoodToGo order, they knew exactly what I was talking about. They asked me to sit down and wait while they got my order ready, which they did so pretty quickly. They handed me my order and asked me to go into the app to show that I picked up my order, which I did. I appreciate that they are knowledgeable about what services they are also participating in. There were 2 staff when I arrived and both wore face masks. During this time of the pandemic, when things continue to be uncertain, I appreciate it when businesses, that interact with the public, take precautions for the health and safety of others. What's Not - Parking. There's only metered street parking, so be prepared to pay and/or to drive around looking for parking. One of the reasons why I also appreciate their service is because I was able to find street parking, at a meter on the same block as the restaurant, but didn't have to worry about paying or being towed, because I was literally in the restaurant for less than 10 minutes. - Location. Not the most convenient, because it's in the middle of a busy area. To be fair, if you're walking and/or taking public transportation, it may not be that big of an issue. However, driving to this location is not the most practical. I first learned this place through Too Good To Go. It's an app for restaruants to sell foods that will be wasted at a cheaper price. Whatever was in the surprise bag was delicious and pretty spicy, so I decided to visit and order from the menu. Clean place, good service, nice vibe ( the relaxing kind), and the foods are sweeter than other places which suits my preference. It is important to remember every country has several region, and the same dish may varies from area to area, or even different from household yo household. It's a previlege to taste all kind of Thai foods and their variation in a small place, without traveling. What is more convenient is the choice to make it vegetarian and maybe vegan if you ask... I ordered delivery through Uber Eats. The food came earlier than quoted, and that was the only plus. I ordered calamari as an appetizer and the Drunken Noodles as my entree. Normally when I order Drunken Noodles and other noodle dishes from a Thai restaurant, they ask you to select your level of spice (mild, medium, spicy). I did not get any option which I thought was odd. But I went through with my order anyway. My food arrived. I opened the calamari, and last time I checked, calamari come in ring shapes. Whatever this was were straight lines, no rings. I have no idea what this substance was that they tried to pass off as calamari, but I didn't even attempt to eat it. I took the breading off just to make sure and it was clear this wasn't calamari. I hoped that my drunken noodles would make up for this disappointment. Nope. From the first bite of my noodles, my mouth was on FIRE. I could truly only eat a few bites before I just threw it out. I could literally see all of the pepper seeds in the noodles. It's like they took every pepper in the restaurant and put it in my food. Terrible. No amount of water could help me. I should have taken the fact that they didn't ask how spicy I wanted my food as a sign. My boyfriend had Thai fried rice with chicken. He said it was okay but bland.
