I love this place. The service, the food, the BROTH, the summer rolls (no pork), the ribeye rolls, the banh mi...everything. I've lost count of how many delivery orders of pho were ordered. When I was sick, in the mood for soup, wanted one of their shrimp banh mi's. The bread, the mayo, the pickled daikon/carrots, the shrimp, the jalapeños...time and time again they've managed to put a smile on my face. One time I even hosted a little dinner party and made soup. Used their broth and doctored it with tomato sauce, meatballs, veggies, and some homemade pasta. It was delicious, friends were raving about it, I said "Omgosh thank you I've been working on this all day". Hid the containers and everything. Everyone was so happy. I don't feel guilty because they're huge fans of Vietnamese food, and eventually I directed them to you. Said you were amazing. They never figured it out and to this day order on a monthly basis. Don't let the negative comments fool you, this place is nice. It's a good simple place for dinner. Service is prompt and attentive and the Pho an Bahn Mi are tasty as are the starters. We recommend the pork and Beef bahn mi and the Fish cake (which is kind of like a patty of sorts. It's hard to describe but tasty) and any seasonal roll. The meat on our bahn Mis on Friday was perfect, and I loved the slightly smoky flavor. The Winter Roll appetizer needed a little punch of something inside, but the sauces all helped (you get sriracha, a "seasoning sauce" that's basically soy sauce, and another at the table). It was still really nice. When we came a few months ago, we loved the Pho as well. My little nitpick across the two visits is that sometimes the service dips a smidge in promptness. Used to come here in high school as it is in walking distance from the Metro and what used to be City Place mall. I ordered the chicken pho and the crispy spring rolls. I called in a vegetarian PHO without Tofu at 6:25 pm. When I arrived 10 minutes later it wasn't ready. I walked to my car that was parked illegally only to realize my broth wasn't hot. I went back and requested someone in leadership. A lady came from the back and said we were busy, we are sorry, etc. I also asked why the broth wasn't hot and she said the lid expands. We'll get different lids or wrap it in plastic wrap! I was charged a bag fee and a container fee. Great customer service would have been a discount or a refund. This place is hands down the best Pho and my go to place in Silver Spring area. I always get the Pho Ga (chicken). The broth is very light and tasty but what makes it the best is that the chicken is tender. It cooked well enough not to get that strong chicken smell but overcooked to make it rubbery. Also recommend their summer rolls(A fresh garden roll with shrimp, basil leaves, rice vermicelli noodles wrapped in rice paper). It is served with their special peanut dipping which is really amazing. The place is pleasant (noise level is low). Service is fast. Pho comes within a 5 minutes if not crowded. They dont offer physical menus any more. There is a QR code you can scan to see the menu but you a waiter comes to take your order. One thing lacking though is a great cocktail menu. This is a good Vietnamese place. I have been here twice and last came with my wife in December. My wife and I had a large Pho Tai, Nam, Gan, Sach, Ribeye Rolls, and a Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling. We had leftovers and they charge for take home containers. The service was good but the only reason to dock a star is the Ribeye Rolls listed "grilled" but forgot to say peanuts and I'm allergic to peanuts so they made us another one and charged us for both. Bun Cha Ha Noi (grilled pork marinated with fish sauce + vermicelli noodles). It was interesting because they don't serve it all in a bowl like I'm used to. You get a plate with the noodles and veggies, and the pork comes on the side. I poured the fish sauce from the pork onto the noodles and mixed in the veggies. Not sure if that's how you're supposed to eat it, but it was good! The grilled pork was very tasty. We also shared the shrimp summer rolls, which were good with the peanut sauce. Service was quick. Overall, 3.5/5 but will round it up to a 4/5 because the pricing is decent and that initial spoonful of noodles and hot broth really hit the spot. This is a convenient location for dinner if you're about to go to an event at the Fillmore. Fortunately, it wasn't too packed when my friend and I arrived for dinner today around 5:15 PM. It seemed like pho was the most popular entree, so we knew we had to try it here! One thing we noticed when the plate of beansprouts (+ other garnishes) came out was that they give you lemons instead of limes, hm. PHO TAI, NAM, GAN, SAC (LG.) - 12.95 If you're hungry, definitely get the large size. I felt like it's worth the $1 upgrade for a bit more noodles/soup. The pho came out piping hot which was perfect. The broth was steamy which cooked the medium rare eye round beef cut. After dumping a bunch of beansprouts in my bowl, I was ready to feast. The first sip of broth along with some noodles was amazing. It really hit the spot since the temperature was right and the broth was flavorful. The cut of meats were a bit thick, but whatever - the quality was good. However, as I continued to eat, I could feel my mouth drying up (which is how I measure the amount of MSG or salt in my food). The broth does have good beef flavor, but I also think there's more MSG than I'd prefer. The noodles were perfect in terms of texture. It's not soggy or overly starchy, a bit al dente with a slight chew, which is my preference. I also think there wasn't a lot of meat - maybe 4-5 pieces total of eye round and brisket, 1 piece of tripe, and 2-3 small chunks of tendon. Most of my bites were just noodles and broth since I had to portion out the meat for every fourth or fifth bite or something. Since I live pretty far from Silver Spring and don't see myself coming back very often, I'd probably try other restaurants in the area next time. If I did live close by, I could see myself coming back here and there for a nice hot bowl of pho (it really, really hit the spot in the beginning) and try their summer rolls (Goi Cuon) which seem to be really popular here! read more

Pros: Broth is good Cons: Many I ordered Pho Ga today for delivery and was unpleasantly surprised to find that there was no sriracha, utensils, an *appropriate* straw for my Thai iced tea and I was given a bag of something I specifically asked to exclude. I was able to find a fork at work so I could pierce the plastic on my tea (as the regular straw provided would not work) and eat my soup. I had to pick out quite a few wilted leaves which I could deal with, but what was actually the dealbreaker was the chicken. It was rubbery and not at all edible. I'm not sure what happened to it, but it was disgusting and what I didn't spit out after attempting to chew, went into the garbage. This was my first time ordering from here and will definitely be my last. If I can offer any constructive criticism, I'd say they really need to focus on serving edible chicken, providing necessary implements to consume the food (at the very least a boba straw as you cannot access the drinks with a standard straw), fresh ingredients and standard condiments. I have passed by this location so many times and finally stopped by recently with some friends. We ordered some summer rolls, vegetarian, Pho Tai, Pho Tan Vinh and the vegetarian one as well. The beef broths were so rich. Very small amount of msg. You don't feel dehydrated after the Pho. The meats were prepared fresh and thinly sliced. The vegetarian pho is is a fully vegetarian broth. Confirmed after asking a couple servers. The location is great as theres street parking all around the main street and also a couple of garages as well. Perfect place to take your family as they have large tables as well. The rice platters were definitely popular as I saw some other diners order them as well. I went with the Tan Vinh Special #1 Banh Mi which was pretty much a deconstructed sandwich if you're interpreting a Banh Mi as a sandwich. Banh Mi actually just means bread. This special banh mi had a sunny side up egg, steak & pate served on a hot plate with bread on the side. I really enjoyed it, but I think I prefer a traditional Vietnamese sandwich.
