We were really impressed with Mi La Cay. I had the Bò Nướng Sả, and it was incredible. The lemongrass beef was packed with flavor and easily one of the best versions I've had. My partner had the Hủ Tiếu La Cay Thập Cẩm with rice noodles and really enjoyed it. We also ordered the Bò Kho and Bún Gà Cari to take home for dinner, and we were impressed with those as well. Highly recommend their Maryland Fried Chicken. It was absolutely worth the drive for me. The rice was incredibly flavorful, and the chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It comes with a homemade ginger sauce that I drizzled over the rice and used as a dipping sauce for the chicken. I actually found this place by accident while looking for another restaurant with the same name at Eden Center. I'm not sure if they have the same owner, but I spotted the fried chicken on the menu and decided to give it a try. It completely exceeded my expectations! The staff explained that they poach the chicken beforehand to help retain moisture before deep frying it, which explains why it was so tender and crispy. We ordered the Roasted Quail as our appetizer and it was pretty tasty. The sauce paired well with it. The quail just didn't have much meat to it. This place was recommended to us and we were not disappointed. We came early on a Friday so they weren't busy, but by lunchtime more and more people started to come in. We seated ourselves and they took our order right away. The outside of the building isn't much to look at nor is the decor on the inside, but I find that places like these have the best food. Gà xối mỡ has crispy skin and is moist inside. However, I'm not a fan of their spicy ginger sauce. The portion is big imo. Hủ tiếu is pretty good. Cọng hủ tiếu (the noodle) is chewy and probably the best noodle I have had in the US. The sauce for dry version is on the sweet side. The soup is a bit salty and I don't like really like the flavor of the broth. So I'd recommend going with the dry version. Great price great food! read more

My family used to love coming here, but I can't help but notice the quality and quantity of the food hasn't been the same. We had shrimp in two separate orders, and the shrimp were no bigger than the ones you find in like a bowl of ramen. On top of that, it was burnt black on one side. The grilled pork is razor thin, and they used to pile on the pork but now it's like a thin layer over the top of the rice. I have been visiting this location for the last couple of years. Based on the Vietnamese spots that I have visited in the Wheaton area (that's close to where I live), I think this is the best one. For instance, the food is really delicious, and the menu has a nice variety of items. Every time that I visit, I tell myself that I'm going to try something new. However, I always stick to the same thing - the Tái Nạm Gầu Gân Sách and the Summer Rolls (OMG and the peanut sauce is AMAZING0. Hey, if ain't broke, don't fix it. Also, it's promising that this place usually has a good amount of diners, unlike a couple of the other places nearby. Also, I think the service is pretty good because the service team will actually speak with you instead of bluntly placing your bowl on the table and leaving. My son actually ordered that thinking what could go wrong with fried chicken and he did not finished it and ate one of our other dishes instead because it was not good. We also ordered curry noodles, banh xeo, and seafood hu tieu noodle soup with the goi tom (shrimp salad). One of the worst salads I've had, the fish sauce had no flavor, tasted like water and there was no cabbage, just lettuce. It was not authentic at all. It's always a vibrant, refreshing combination of vegetables--paired with soft, perfectly charred pork, shrimp, and crispy spring rolls. Additionally, I'd also recommend the Maryland fried chicken, which is a crispy, red-tinted fried chicken dish served over tomato-infused rice. Service is straightforward and quick--servers meet your needs with precision while being swift in their work. They are far from understaffed. The ambiance isn't anything special; their interior isn't poorly designed, but it doesn't exactly match the mood their kitchen and dishes create. Their service counter/bar look nicely decorated, with neon lighting and textured tile. Overall, their food is delicious, their service is quick, and the ambiance doesn't matter much as it's a hole-in-the-wall, and most of my experiences there are with close family.
