I had a sampler appetizer platter, Vietnamese Shaking Beef with steamed rice, and grilled jumbo shrimp and crispy fried egg roll with rice noodle. Anyway, the dining room is quite tiny, and free parking is limited. It is rather better to avoid busy time like lunch or dinner. The service is ok, waiting time was not too bad, food came quickly more than I thought. But the staffs seem less friendly than other Vietnamese Restaurant I have visited. Hubby and I ordered takeaway from here for the first time. We ordered the spring rolls (A5); the vegetarian lemongrass tofu with noodles (C4); Banh Mi with grilled chicken (BM7); Coconut smoothie with boba (B13), and; dessert drink with red bean, green jelly, coconut milk, and mung beans (D1). Total came out to approximately $47. What's Hot - Quality. My noodle dish with lemongrass tofu and veggies was delicious. I enjoyed the flavor and the dish wasn't dry. Their shrimp spring rolls are delicious, as well. Their food isn't overly salty, as well. - Menu. There's something for everyone, even vegans. Their menu states their vegetarian options use vegetable broth. - Price. For the portions and quality, it's good value for money. - Location. Easy to find. It's in a small plaza amongst other shops and restaurants. The interior can be fairly tight. It's a decent space, but their tables and chairs cannot accommodate more than a party of 4. - Service. Pretty good. They gave me an estimated wait time of 15 minutes for our order. There is a small rack in front of their front desk, where you place your order, where they put their takeaway orders. Everything is packed tightly and neatly, which is very helpful, given that you may be transporting broth and dishes that are wrapped in saran wrap, as well. None of our food spilled. What's Not - Banh mi. The flavor of the banh mi was good, but my husband felt the sandwich was a little dry. There was no additional flavor to the sandwich and/or toppings, aside from the fillings. My husband added some sriracha sauce to the sandwich, which added some flavor and some moisture. To each their own, but just be aware, depending on your preference for sandwiches. - To go charge. The receipt showed that we were charged an additional fee, because we ordered takeaway. On the one hand, it makes sense, because there are additional containers and packaging required for takeaway. I appreciate that it was shown on the receipt. On the other hand, there are not many restaurants I have come across that charge for takeaway, and I was surprised of such charges. - Parking. It's a small plaza and there are parking spots available, but it can be difficult to find, depending on the day and time you're there. Been going to Pho Nom Nom for years! I would say they're definitely know for their banh mi but if you're dining in, opt for their pho. Service is quick but be aware it gets crazy packed on the weekends. They don't do reservations from what I remember so it's really a first come first serve. One of the best pho places in the DMV area. Pho is perfectly balanced and doesn't leave you thirsting for water after drinking it. Banh mi is great with nicely balanced portions of meat and veg (try toasting it before you eat it for a crispy and flaky bread experience). Service is also great. It's just too bad that a couple of blemishes prevent this place from being one of the greats in my book: atrocious parking, portion and servicing size downsizing, and very slow and cramped pick up experience (likely due to the fact that they are really good). Pho is easily one of my favorite dishes, so I had to stop by and give this place a try. I ordered the seafood pho -- the broth was fantastic, but the fish tasted more like imitation, so I wouldn't recommend that particular bowl. That said, I'll definitely be back to try another one. The Thai iced tea was a highlight for me (it's another favorite of mine), and they absolutely nailed it. I went during a non-rush hour, so the service was quick and friendly. Looking at the lines standing against the wall at Pho Nom Nom each weekend, I thought "what am I missing?" Is the food really worth standing on line? After getting there early on a Friday night recently, our party of four was seated without a wait. We eagerly awaited appetizers of Nem Nu'o'ng (grilled prok sausage with house sauce) and Tom Nu'o'ng cuon (grilled shrimp with lettuce and peanut sauce). Apps came quickly and they were flavorful. The rice noodles were as bland as the proteins. The Pho itself had no kick but instead tasted like the kitchen had just put the water that rinsed dishes into the soup bowl. Super disappointed! While the vibe was as expected - you can see the bustle through the front window - we didn't feel rushed, except when you saw the long line of people waiting against the wall. I normally never dress up my pho with condiments and finish the broth but I was not impressed with my bowl and had to add condiments so the flavor was more interesting. Pho Nom Nom is a tried and true Rockville establishment that is a go-to spot for pho! I actually haven't had it in a while but I was very happy to be back. The broth has a very strong beef flavor and is pretty rich. I do wish that the meat quality was a bit better and that the eye round steak came more raw. The shining star on the menu for me though is their limeade. It has just the right amount of sweetness and acidity to cut through the heaviness of the pho.
