Since I'm currently rocking a broken toe and a boot, I was pleasantly surprised when one of the staff members held the door open for me as I walked in. They offer a pretty extensive menu with plenty of pho, noodle, soup, and appetizer options to choose from. I ordered the Pho Combo, which came with brisket, fatty beef, and tripe (the tripe was actually an accident, lol), along with an order of crispy spring rolls. Everything was absolutely delicious! The broth had that rich, authentic pho flavor that lets you know it's the real deal. The condiments are neatly organized in jars right at the table, making it easy to customize your meal. The portion sizes are generous, especially when it comes to the meat--they do NOT skimp at all. You actually get a satisfying amount, unlike other spots that give you barely anything. The broth is what really sets it apart. It's rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced--not overly salty like a lot of other places. Stopped by here on a whim after being sorely disappointed by another pho restaurant (which shall not be named). First, I will say that I seriously appreciate Pho Eatery being open late on a Sunday, and past 9 every day of the week. I'm from the city, and a night owl by nature, so I'm always peeved at the limited late night options in Rockville. But glad that I can add this place to my list! Secondly, I haven't eaten a ton of pho from restaurants but my bf is Vietnamese and he commented that the pho we had here was almost as good as his mom's. That's a legit compliment! The broth was clean (I.e. not oily at all) and flavorful. I sorta wish we had gotten more meat with our bowls, but the bowl itself was already a very generous portion for the price of about $10. Coconut juice is always my go-to beverage with pho, and we got two huge cups of it for $3 each. Most other places serve half as much for the same price. Food came out fast and hot. The staff was very hospitable. And the restaurant is clean and inviting inside. The space is much bigger than I expected on the inside too - plenty of room for social distancing. The moment a large party near us had left, two staff members came out and thoroughly cleaned their tables, which made me even more comfortable with dining indoors now that restrictions are lifted. To start off, I have been coming to this place consistently for the past year. Almost every week or two, my sister and I come in and order the same thing, and it is DELICIOUS every time. The service is incredible; the waiters already know our order by heart and get it ready for us ASAP the second we come in. Not only are they incredibly quick with their service, but they are so friendly! We always get greeted warmly and waved to when we leave and when we come in. The ambiance of the restaurant is really nice, its a casual and home-y atmosphere that makes you feel like you're eating at your grandma's house. This place is solid in a pinch, but I've definitely had better Vietnamese in general, let alone in Maryland. As basic as the name might be (#1), Pho Eatery still has a lot to offer in terms of a robust menu, spacious interior, and fairly good service. I am just wishing the food was more memorable. The interior has a unique aesthetic with its metal chairs, long tables, and marble floors. I appreciate the mural on the wall and natural lighting, which makes the place extra inviting. The roomy dining room and abundant seating makes this place an ideal spot for all party sizes. While the signage / logo isn't all that attractive, the contemporary vibe more than makes up for it. When it comes to the food, I really wanted to like the pho more. It was bland and the meat cuts were a little tough. I probably should have asked for the beef on the side (#2). At one point in time they were an angus beef only establishment, I'm not entirely sure if that's still the case. Nevertheless, I wasn't all that impressed. The other dishes I sampled didn't fare much better: the com thit nuong was dry and the egg was definitely overcooked, the summer rolls (goi cuon) were shoulder shrug good at best, and the vermicelli bun dac biet was solid but lacked a pungent nuoc mam to go with the mix. If there was anything that I really enjoyed, it was the Vietnamese iced coffee. It was pre-mixed and being poured out in a jug a la Lee's. (#3) In fact, I liked it so much I ordered two for the road on my way out. The ice was just perfect and the balance between the condensed milk and coffee was just right. Despite the food disappointment, I was happy their service was on point and the prices were comparable to more low key Viet spots a few miles away. While I don't envision myself as a regular, I wouldn't say no to coming back again. ___________ (#1) Unlike every other place that has cities ("Pho Saigon" / "Pho Da Lat"), numbers ("So 1, Pho 79, etc.), or significant names ("Thanh Da" / "Bich Nga" etc.), it is simply "Pho Eatery."
