Bean sprouts, peppers, lemon and fresh basil accompanying the pho.
    Jeff B.

I ordered a small number 5 ($14.25) and the Goi Cuon (2 garden rolls - $6). The soup arrived first, followed quickly by the rolls. Even though I specifically ordered the rolls first and separately. Service was very quick. The Number 5 was very good. The broth is very flavorful and the portion of meat was very nice. The meat was neither tough nor fatty. Really good thin slices of flank steak. The broth was so flavorful that I didn't need to add any hoisin or hot sauce, which is unusual for me for Pho. It was a nice size portion of meat and noodles. I see you can get a large for only $1 more. My size was ample. The rolls also were very good. Each had large pieces of shrimp and the peanut sauce was very good. I arrived at the restaurant at 7:10 pm and they officially close at 8:00 pm. When I arrived, there were three tables with customers already eating. Maybe I arrived too late for them (too close to closing time), because, as I said earlier, they brought out the soup before the rolls, even though I ordered the rolls separately as I was sitting down. Also. I got a water and unfortunately no one came by to refill my water glass. Which was empty for the last third of my meal. Even though the place was almost empty and the staff were standing around. Too bad. I tipped them anyway. And I was out of there by 7:45 pm.

I haven't been to pho nam in awhile, so I went back recently. Same old interior, but also same good pho. Broth is flavorful and they give a decent amount of meat. Pay at the counter and they accept card. The restaurant has a strong cigar smell inside because of the cigar room next door. The smell can get quite strong, so I suggest takeout if it will bother you.

Not my favorite pho spot, but a decent one if you're looking for good pho and quick service. The interiors are unsightly - bare flooring, brick walls, smell of cigars (next door shop, or smokers nearby) but it really gives "hole in the wall" vibes. I always have the pho meatballs soup, and it's always good. The pricing is reasonable and the meatballs portion is generous! Nowadays places skimp you on meat, but they don't. The rice dishes are also good! They were out of the pork chop when I went, but the sliced pork was also good - I feel that the meat pieces quantity could have been a little more but that's ok. Again, they have quick service so you're pretty much in-and-out in under an hour if you dine in. Overall, for the good food and reasonable prices, this is a good spot if you're craving pho.

Great pho! I've been coming here since I was a kid and the pho has always stayed consistently delicious. They've unfortunately increased the prices a ton. The restaurant is very clean however it reeks of cigar and cigarette smoke given the cigar shop right next-door

This spot smelled a bit like cigars which docked it a point, but the overall food was wonderful. The broth was super flavorful. I felt no need to add any extra sauce. The meat was hit the spot super well.

Great Pho. Broth is very good, doesn't need to add much to enjoy it. Menu is pretty basic from soup to rice plates but each platter is well made. Service was fast as well. I would recommend this place for a quick eat.

It's not fancy. But if you're hungry for a bowl of pho, not much of an ambiance (a food hall feel), this place got a seat for you. Waitress will bring you menus and water, that's pretty much it. You're fine if you know what you want. We usually come by here on our Nordstrom Rack shopping spree. Two deals on one trip. The noodle is pretty much franchised - boiled hot soup poured over prepared noodle and ingredients. Tasted as good as other pho shops tho.

Upon entering the restaurant, we found that the seating was quite unorganized with no hostess to greet us and we needed up seating ourselves. The owner at the front later approached us with menus and at first I thought we submitted our order at the counter, but he later came to take our order. The restaurant was clearly understaffed, with many tables empty but not cleared yet. There were a couple groups of people at the door also unsure of where/how to seat themselves. The restaurant itself was larger than expected and there were many tables inside. We ordered two orders of garden rolls, three large beef noodle soups, and a lemongrass pork vermicelli. The salty soup had very little beef, did not live up to the name of being "large," and the noodles were quite stiff. We also found it interesting that the bean sprouts were chopped up. My pork was well seasoned and there was enough to satisfy me, but there were a couple pieces chewier than I would have liked. Our appetizers (garden rolls) also came out after our entrees, when we were almost halfway done. Overall, there are definitely better pho places in the area, but this restaurant satisfied our pho cravings.

Literally a hole in the wall restaurant!

A true "hole in the wall restaurant" literally (look at the outside picture). Was recommended this spot by a local and it went above and beyond my expectations! A true 10/10 experience. The server who may have been the owner was so kind, start to finish. Soup came out fast and they were even nice enough to give us extra toppings- free of charge!!! (Rare nowadays). The broth was definitely prepared over some time because the flavor was sooo rich. Wish I could've taken it in a to-go cup . If you're in the area and want AUTHENTIC pho, not the mainstream generic kind, this is THE place to go!!!

This place has my heart. This was my first Pho experience in 2021 and it set the bar HIGH. Any Pho place I have had to compete with this authentic delicacy. The broth, whether chicken or beef is unmatched! There is no broth like it!! I've had chicken and different types of beef phos and they do not miss! You can customize your bow or order as is but whatever you choose, you will not be disappointed. The owner is very pleasant when greeting and taking orders. The pho is serve quickly and ALWAYS piping hot. FRESH OUT THE POT. Inside is a little dated however I feel like it adds to the authenticity of the meal. THIS IS THE BEST PHO ON THE EAST COAST

If you decide to grab a meal from Pho Nam, I highly suggest you take a look at their menu before hand and order right when you are seated. If you don't, you'll be waiting for quite awhile or may even walk out (like a few patrons did while we were there). They are severely understaffed (only one individual manning the front of the house taking orders/payment) so it took several minutes for us to be seated and then much longer for our order to be taken. Despite the extremely slow service, my pho was actually pretty good. I ordered a regular #6 which came with well-done brisket, flank, and skirt steak. The broth had good flavor to it, but I do wish they didn't skimp on the meat. Also, IMO the sizes are on the smaller side compared to other pho restaurants in the area. So if you're hungry, I suggest ordering a large. When you place your order, make sure you also remind the staff to bring you utensils. When our pho arrived, we had nothing to eat it with! The restaurant is a decent size, with plenty of tables. They aren't spaced out too well, so beware you may get hit in the head with an elbow as staff is bringing out other orders! Luckily you pay up front so you don't have to wait for someone to bring your check/take your payment. Otherwise, you'd be waiting forever!

Rice noodle with pork. Mostly iceberg lettuce. Pork was clearly pre-cooked awhile ago and microwaved to serve.

As someone who's lived in Vietnam, this restaurant's food is as Americanized as it can get. This might be good in middle of nowhere Iowa but not in the Rockville/Gaithersburg area. We ordered the Goi Cuon (fresh spring rolls), a few pho dishes, and the rice noodle with pork. They skimp on the meat in the spring roll and it's mostly loaded with shredded iceberg lettuce. Not a good start. The pho was just okay. Oddly enough, they gave a decent amount of meat in the pho. For the rice noodle with pork, it was terrible. Again, mostly loaded with iceberg lettuce (which you should know is NOT Vietnamese at all) and the pork was hard. The pork was clearly pre-cooked and they just microwaved it to bring it out. All our food came out within 5 minutes of ordering. I get that the pho needs to be pre cooked but for the other dishes? No. The restaurant is deceptively small from the outside. Lots of space on the inside. But it felt like a cafeteria. We came on a weeknight and there were very few people. Still, we got zero service. We had to find our own seats, get our own baby chair, got no water refills, and then pay at the counter. The receipt still asked for tips and because of societal pressures, I grudgingly added the minimum appropriate amount. But it's not exactly a good experience if you're asking yourself why you should be tipping. The staff that delivered the food appeared friendly but seemed to only speak Spanish. Overall I would not come here again. I might be able to make a case if it was cheap but they charge the same, if not more than other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. Hard pass.

To further fulfill that nostalgic feeling of my weekends having lunch at Eden Center with my parents as a teen, I ordered an avocado smoothie to sip while looking over the menu. I have never been to Hanoi so there were some dishes I hadn't tried before but if a Vietnamese restaurant tells you what their house specials are, you should listen to them. I only ordered three of their house special dishes because I only had one other person to share these large portions with but I definitely wanted to try more. All three dishes were hits! The bun bo hue had a deep shrimp paste flavor, which is exactly what I was craving. Some people complained that it lacked lemongrass, I agree, but it's in there and not a big deal for me. There was plenty of meat in the bowl, the meatballs were bouncy and meaty (maybe even made in house), the pork blood was great quality and not chalky at all. Red cabbage is served on the side with thai basil, lime, and jalapeños; great alternative for banana blossom. The bun cha Hanoi was our favorite. It comes with a heaping serving of house made meatballs and pork belly. The fish sauce it comes in was a little blander than I like but I asked for a little extra raw fish sauce and chilis to spruce it up. It's all served with a mound of vermicelli and fresh veggies/herbs. This was my husband's first time trying this dish and he was obsessed! We also added a nem cua be (crab egg roll) add on so we could try one. Glad we only got the one because it was huge and packed with meat! It was delicious but would have been very filling as an appetizer. I also ordered the banh cuon cha lua which I took one bite of and had to pack home because I was too full to eat it there. This is one of my favorite dishes so I had to try it too! The rice paper crepes were great! Filling was a little lighter but the portion made up for it. Again, I spruced up the fish sauce a bit at home. I really enjoyed dining here. It fills that craving for authentic Vietnamese food without having to go all the way to Silver Spring or Eden Center. I will try to be a little more adventurous next time we head over and try the bun dau mam tom. It looks amazing!

Really awful. Well so much for that. This crepe is so delicious, I will come back here just to get it. The egg itself is wonderfully crispy. It does not get soggy when you dip it in the dipping sauce. It comes with large pieces of romaine lettuce and a huge spring of basil leaves. It was awesome . The ambiance is very pleasant. It is large, spacious, clean, well-lit, with attractive pictures on the wall and two screens in the front. One has beautiful marine life swimming around and the other one has menu items. It is relaxing and attractive . The service was friendly and efficient. Although I don't think her English was very advanced, it didn't interfere with my ordering or getting something I liked. Bottom line, I have added this to one of the restaurants I'm going to put in my regular rotation. I can't wait to try their other stuff. TLDR: WALKED IN OFF THE STREET NOT KNOWING WHAT TO EXPECT. Their shrimp spring rolls are delicious, as well. Their food isn't overly salty, as well. - Menu. There's something for everyone, even vegans. Their menu states their vegetarian options use vegetable broth. - Price. For the portions and quality, it's good value for money. - Location. Easy to find. It's in a small plaza amongst other shops and restaurants. The interior can be fairly tight. It's a decent space, but their tables and chairs cannot accommodate more than a party of 4. - Service. Pretty good. They gave me an estimated wait time of 15 minutes for our order. There is a small rack in front of their front desk, where you place your order, where they put their takeaway orders. Everything is packed tightly and neatly, which is very helpful, given that you may be transporting broth and dishes that are wrapped in saran wrap, as well. None of our food spilled. My husband added some sriracha sauce to the sandwich, which added some flavor and some moisture. To each their own, but just be aware, depending on your preference for sandwiches. - To go charge. The receipt showed that we were charged an additional fee, because we ordered takeaway. On the one hand, it makes sense, because there are additional containers and packaging required for takeaway.
