The pho is okay, nothing special. The service was not good--an older man was rude and did not speak politely to me as a customer. They charged extra for a bag and to-go box without informing me beforehand. Also, the prices charged were different from what was listed on the menu. Overall, not a great experience.
I was craving pho one evening and came across this place in Silver Spring. Let me start by saying I got the small portion and it was more than enough to satisfy a craving. The flavor was great, service was quick and they answered any questions that I had. The inside of the establishment looked clean and there was a variety of people dining in. I highly recommend if you're looking for a place to enjoy pho. The prices are reasonable as well. Will be back!
The bad reviews really seem like fluke experiences people had. we've had 0 major issues. Just remember to wait to be seated. My small nitpicks are at the end. Solid 3.75 stars. Don't let the negative comments fool you, this place is nice. It's a good simple place for dinner. Service is prompt and attentive and the Pho an Bahn Mi are tasty as are the starters. We recommend the pork and Beef bahn mi and the Fish cake (which is kind of like a patty of sorts. It's hard to describe but tasty) and any seasonal roll. The meat on our bahn Mis on Friday was perfect, and I loved the slightly smoky flavor. The Winter Roll appetizer needed a little punch of something inside, but the sauces all helped (you get sriracha, a "seasoning sauce" that's basically soy sauce, and another at the table). It was still really nice. When we came a few months ago, we loved the Pho as well. My little nitpick across the two visits is that sometimes the service dips a smidge in promptness. It's still very attentive and kind, but keep that in mind. You'll still get whatever you need in sufficient time. It's just not the kind of bustling place where servers are constantly milling about.
The pho here is very good, especially on a cold winter day. The broth is very flavorful and meat fresh. The service was wonderful and let me order while my friend was still in her way. Inside, there is bright lighting and much seating and wasn't too packed when I went.
The food here is something to RAVE about! The pho broth here was so good, some places don't have great broth but I would not say that about Pho Tan Vinh! The customer service here was also so kind and quick! I would definitely recommend this place if you're stopping in for concert or just in town or live in town!
After arriving in Silver Spring from DC, I dropped my suitcases off at the hotel just down the street and stopped here for a bite to eat. At the time I arrived, I was the only one in the dining room. By the time I got my food, three more tables had been filled with diners. Quite a few people picked orders as well. The shrimp soup was very good and flavorful. I do wish they had cleaned the shrimp a little better. But the broth was flavorful and delightful. Those summer rolls were bomb! Bursting with veggies and flavor. Not pictured, I did have a strawberry smoothie. The menu offered boba, but unfortunately they were out that day. Overall a chill atmosphere. There was a tv in the corner playing a Spanish-speaking comedy; I found it pretty funny. The service was quick and friendly. They do have a full bar, which appears to be open all day.
Used to come here in high school as it is in walking distance from the Metro and what used to be City Place mall. I ordered the chicken pho and the crispy spring rolls. The broth was amazing for the flavor and I added Sriracha and Hoisin sauce to perfect it. I usually get to go boxes but nope I finished it all. It's really still as good as it was in high school. The staff was nice and attentive. It was quiet when we went on an early Tuesday evening.
This place is hands down the best Pho and my go to place in Silver Spring area. I always get the Pho Ga (chicken). The broth is very light and tasty but what makes it the best is that the chicken is tender. It cooked well enough not to get that strong chicken smell but overcooked to make it rubbery. Also recommend their summer rolls(A fresh garden roll with shrimp, basil leaves, rice vermicelli noodles wrapped in rice paper). It is served with their special peanut dipping which is really amazing. The place is pleasant (noise level is low). Service is fast. Pho comes within a 5 minutes if not crowded. They dont offer physical menus any more. There is a QR code you can scan to see the menu but you a waiter comes to take your order. One thing lacking though is a great cocktail menu. They have Vietnamese iced coffee. It is sweeter than your regular Thai ice coffee. They use sweetened condensed milk. Just something to note.
I called in a vegetarian PHO without Tofu at 6:25 pm. When I arrived 10 minutes later it wasn't ready. I walked to my car that was parked illegally only to realize my broth wasn't hot. I went back and requested someone in leadership. A lady came from the back and said we were busy, we are sorry, etc. I also asked why the broth wasn't hot and she said the lid expands. We'll get different lids or wrap it in plastic wrap! I was charged a bag fee and a container fee. Great customer service would have been a discount or a refund. Additionally, the menu prices need to be updated. All the photos are attached to reflect my review and experience. I am a Chef with a degree in culinary arts. The customer is "ALWAYS" right. Excuses only satisfy those who make them. I WILL NEVER PATRONIZE THIS ESTABLISHMENT AGAIN IN LIFE.
This is a good Vietnamese place. I have been here twice and last came with my wife in December. My wife and I had a large Pho Tai, Nam, Gan, Sach, Ribeye Rolls, and a Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling. We had leftovers and they charge for take home containers. The service was good but the only reason to dock a star is the Ribeye Rolls listed "grilled" but forgot to say peanuts and I'm allergic to peanuts so they made us another one and charged us for both. Also, we happen to like Lotus Cafe down Georgia a bit better.
The flavors of this Viet restaurant are phenomenal and you won't regret checking it out! The menu has lots of pictures of the food, catering to the non-Vietnamese folks--I love it! I went with the Tan Vinh Special #1 Banh Mi which was pretty much a deconstructed sandwich if you're interpreting a Banh Mi as a sandwich. Banh Mi actually just means bread. This special banh mi had a sunny side up egg, steak & pate served on a hot plate with bread on the side. I really enjoyed it, but I think I prefer a traditional Vietnamese sandwich. The other food I tried was also good and I am looking forward to trying more. I am knocking off one star because I came at 11:00AM when they were supposed to be open. I stood around for a few minutes and one of the employees said they're not open yet. I guess it was a lazy Sunday for them! read more
The Vietnamese coffee was okay, nothing special in my opinion. It was too small and much too expensive for what it was, it was more than five dollars for a very small cup. It also did not come with any extra hot water or the coffee filter and strainer where the coffee grinds are kept, as it does in the Vietnamese restaurants that I have been to in Arlington or Fairfax. It almost tastes as though it was made with instant coffee, too, but it was not bad. The little bowls where the sauces are kept did not look very clean to me either. As far as food, I had a grilled chicken Banh mi sandwich and it was fairly good. The staff were nice and the decor inside of the restaurant is nice. Overall, I think that this restaurant is okay, but has room for some improvement as well. read more

My brother-in-law introduced me to this restaurant, and I have to say that it is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants I've been too. The food was very tasty, the restaurant was nicely decorated and it was very clean! The winter rolls must be a Pho Tan Vinh creation. I'm so glad I tried them. It was like having a summer roll but with Vietnamese sausage and seaweed inside. It was a winning combination! I also ordered the grilled chicken with rice. It was THE BEST grilled chicken I'd ever tasted in my life!! Grilled to perfection, and much better than the "grilled" chicken at other Vietnamese restaurants. My sister and brother-in-law ordered pho and they enjoyed it. . I can't wait to go back for more summer and winter rolls, and to try other dishes! read more

I ordered the Pho Tai Chin and the crispy spring rolls. The Pho was good but the spring rolls weren't good at all. I told the waiter "Tim" ( not sure if he gave me the right name but this occurred on 8/9/24 and he was working at the host area and as my waiter). And he immediately got an attitude saying I need to know what I'm ordering before ordering it and I'm not getting a refund. Take note that I hadn't asked for a refund yet I simply said I didn't like it and asked for him to remove it from my table. For the rest of my time in the restaurant "Tim" was very rude. All because I didn't like the spring rolls? Horrible customer service. read more

This is my spotttttt. I've tried all the pho spots in dtss and Pho Tan Vinh is IT. Keep in mind, I'm not Vietnamese so idk what makes a spot authentic and such. I just know food and I know these taste buds and this spot be doing the things. The brisket pho is bomb. The flavor of the broth is soooo good. Sometimes I'll get the brisket and the meatballs but usually just the brisket. The chicken banh mi is delicious. The bread is always soft and fresh. The chicken is grilled up nicely. The crispy spring rolls are delish as well. The chicken wings are super flavorful and crunchy (if you are dining in just note that they take a while to be cooked). All that to say, I've never had anything from this spot that I didn't like and I have literally eaten here dozensssss of times. read more

It was finally cold enough for pho season! We showed up around 7ish on a Friday night, and the place was jam packed. We took the last two sitting table! I ordered a large pho tai. It was delicious and definitely a large. I appreciated their large was actually more meat and noodles (I've ordered their small before) instead of just more noodles and/or soup. Everything was fresh and the meat had flavor. I'd be down to come back and maybe order other things in addition to pho. You could tell the servers and busboys were moving as quick as possible -- very efficient and mindful of their tables. It's my experience with pho restaurants (especially since I started my love for pho in Seattle), that the service is quick and to the point. They won't chit chat, because everything's busy. The restaurant clearly had waves of people coming in every 30 minutes so it was always new people and a new crowd. It seemed like everyone loved their food! read more

Yummy Vietnamese food! Be warned: this place is super popular and hence, very busy at lunch time, so plan ahead! We started with crispy spring rolls which were pretty good (if not a tad overfried). My husband was a big fan of his beef pho. I had mixed feelings about my chicken vermicelli. The chicken was super fatty, and while there was a good amount of it, I didn't feel like the dish was balanced out enough with the other components. More carrots or peanuts would've helped bring out a better combination of flavors and textures. We also were served two plates with food stains on them, which we easily wiped off, but still found to be a little off-putting. Overall it was a decent spot for lunch. read more

Overall this place deserves a 4 star based on food, service, and ambience. The food: We ordered a large bowl of the Pho Dac Biet (special) and it was delicious. Decent amount of noodles to meat. My only concern was that the soup was a bit saltier than I prefer and the mint leaves and bean sprouts were super freshly picked, but they were all good. We even ordered Togo pork and spring roll vermicelli noodles for lunch the next day - which was delicious! The service: They were attentive and came by every so often. They didn't say much or strike up a conversation of sorts. But that's okay, they got the job done well. We got everything we needed and our drinks and food was consistently topped off. The ambience: Super cute place petite restaurant with a decent dining area, and clean. They had slightly dim lighting that gets ya in the mood for either a group setting or one-on-one date night. Overall, I would recommend giving this place a try. And it's confidently located right off silver spring metro station! read more

A beautiful cozy little Pho place in the Heart of Down Town Silver Spring, MD. Really Friendly Staff with a great and Fast service. Didn't have to wait much for the meal. Me and my friend were craving for Pho and went in for lunch and we were FULL. Started with Summer roll with Shrimp and then comes the mouth watering Pho it was Delicious . The place was very clean and a very relaxing quiet place. Bit pricey but every bite worth it. I'd definitely go back there again. read more

I was going to give this place a three at least for the food but their customer service and customer appreciation force me to deduct. I didn't mind them putting chairs upside down on the tables ten minutes early but getting the stink eye to get out of here was icing on the cake. This must only be a lunch place because if they treat their dinner guests this way then they have a right to fail too. Slightly overpriced for a soup bowl where there is a lot of competition. Let the pictures tell the story. I will not be back. read more

Pleasant first time experience and probably the last. The pho was good, don't get me wrong. It certainly fulfilled my hunger but not worth it returning, as there are obviously far better Pho places in the DMV. read more
Small Vietnamese restaurant across the street from my hotel, on a weekday evening it was mildly busy but plenty of room. Service was top notch. I had a summer roll to start and it was very good. Consistent with others that I've enjoyed with firm texture and good taste. Stuffed with the right stuffings, it held up well to dipping in peanut sauce and eating in bites. Excellent. My pho ga arrived shortly after my summer rolls were done. The usual fixings and a very large bowl with plenty of sliced chicken and vermicelli noodles in it. I tore up and added the basil, some bean sprouts, squeezed the lime, a spoonful of pepper and a big squirt of sriracha. It was marvelous. Exactly the sort of chicken noodle soup that momma would make. If your momma was from Southeast Asia. Very inexpensive, probably the cheapest dinner I had all week. But filling and delicious. Good stuff! read more

Literally my favorite Pho place outside of Chicago. I've been coming here for over 6 years and have never had a bad experience! The Rib Eye Rolls appetizer and the Pho Tai are OUT OF THIS WORLD!! I've moved out of silver spring but still make the trip at least once a month for the deliciousness. read more

Location is convenient set away from the main part of downtown Silver Spring. On a Sunday during the summer they were pretty busy but service was fast. The Thai tea and Vietnamese coffee were delicious and refreshing after a hot day. Unfortunately they didn't have their smoothies which also looked amazing. The food was delicious and the amount of vegetarian/vegan options was awesome. The vegetables tasted fresh and the two types of tofu they used was a great touch to both dishes. After finishing our meal it was a little confusing about how to pay. Some people went to the back others had to get someone's attention for the check. This was even after having our table cleared. However, the food and numerous options will have me coming back. read more
I recently have become a huge fan of pho and think it's pho-ckin' awesome. Compared to Pho 75 that I went to in Rockville, this place was amazing. The service was nothing to brag about but the pho I got (P3) had a flavorful and rich broth. It was a really cold night and this little inexpensive dinner date was perfect for both of us. My gf ordered the Pho Ga (P12) and the chicken was delicious. Pretty cool that they have a chicken and vegan option pho. We drove here from Bethesda after reading many reviews of nearby Pho places and now I think we found our regular jawn. Perfect place on a cold winter night read more
Stopped in for dinner on a Saturday night. It was pretty busy and we were seated right away. The place isn't fancy, but it is bright and very clean, from the tables that are quickly bussed as patrons leave, to the sparkling bathrooms. I ordered the pork vermicelli with spring roll and an order of wings and my wife got the winter roll with roasted pork bahn mi. Everything was fresh and served promptly. Service was friendly and we were checked on regularly during our meal. The food itself was very good. It was nice to find a Vietnamese restaurant with a full menu, rather than a pho shop with a dumpling or fried rice option. We have already planned our next visit when in town for a show later in the month. read more

I decided to get a platter of everything to introduce my bf to Vietnamese food. This place came highly recommended by our friends at Nancy Nails nearby. We got the pork sub or Bahn Mi which we thought was really good. The bread is soft and fresh. The summer rolls which are dry without sauce, he didn't like the peanut sauce but I did! The large pho with brisket and round to share which was honestly plenty. And the rice bowl with chicken and half rice half rice noodle. I'd be back! Can't believe we were sleep on this hidden gem. The prices are also awesome. We had a Thai tea not pictured because I killed it. Wish it were a bit sweeter but honestly not enough to not get it again haha read more

Was visiting from out of town and it was a cold windy day. I was in the mood for some pho. I order some spring rolls which were pretty good. One thing I did like about this place sad that you can choose between a small or large bowl of pho. I ordered the medium rare beef brisket pho. It was good. I love the extra toppings on the side especially the bean sprouts. I would come back again but try another pho flavor. read more
