C11. L25. Sesame Chicken Lunch Special
Sylvie C.

I ordered using Doordash and via their website on two separate occasions. For the price they charge, this restaurant offers a lot of food!! My goodness. It felt like the bag was about at least 10lbs when I received them. The food itself was also absolutely delicious. I was working nearby and everything was perfect. The fried rice was nice and fluffy without it being too salty from overuse of soy sauce. The sesame chicken was just right. The dumplings, I didn't particularly care for, but then again I'm picky. Their Singaporean rice noodle was to die for. It contained smorgasbord of shrimp, char siu, and all sorts of goodies. I am drooling just remembering about it. I may just order that again for lunch today even though I am about 30 minutes away from the restaurant location. So if you are in the downtown Silver Spring area and want a good hefty amount of reasonably priced Chinese food, Dragon City is the place to go!

May 2023 was the first time I ordered from this place through Postmates and this is my original review copied from Google Maps and updated today. (May 2023 Review) The food is alright, however, after my 3rd order through Postmates I was shorted an egg roll. I called the establishment to let them know & the man just tried to explain away his mistake by saying that I ordered the large General Tso's Chicken." I know what I ordered because it was the same as the last order just minus the chocolate cake & carrot cake they charge $4.99 for a slice. I won't be ordering from here again. Update: (Wed. 11-27-2024) I gave this place one more chance and they screwed up again. The owner doesn't own up to his mistakes and doesn't want to rectify it. He blames Postmates saying, "I only cook what order come through the app." Well, I ordered a Vegetable Fried Rice + Snow Peas, Carrots, Broccoli, and an Egg. Whether I'm ordering beef fried rice or vegetable fried rice, I always order it the same way. I received a small container of Fried Rice that didn't have any vegetables in it besides carrots and peas. My hubby ordered the Shrimp Egg Foo Young. I ordered a Chicken Egg Foo Young last year (May 2023) and it was so disgusting that I decided never to get that again. Who wants to eat orange gravy? Gravy is anything but orange. Tonight when we received our food, there was a Vegetable Egg Foo Young with all of the veggies I asked for with the fried rice I ordered put inside the Vegetable Egg Foo Young. We didn't order this. I called the store and of course the owner is a jackhole and didn't want to make the order right. So I took that nasty ass food back to the carryout and gave them that bullshit back. I'm never ordering from this place ever again and if you're smart, you won't even bother to order here if you haven't been. Take it from someone who has 5.6 million viewers on Google Maps (screenshot posted as proof) and is also a Yelp Elite. Do Not Eat At This Carryout. You've been warned. The owner will not admit to or correct his mistakes, will talk over you when you're talking which is ultra rude, and the food isn't good. No such thing as ambience with a carryout.

Orange Chicken

Was hungry late last night and with not much open and a DoorDash 20% off promo my fiancé and I decided to order from here. We ordered both Mongolian Beef and Orange Chicken, which was under $20. The food came very fast (in like 15 minutes) from when we placed an order, which may be record time for any food delivery. The Orange Chicken is crispy and tasty as expected and Mongolian Beef and fried rice with it are very delicious and beats what we had on Christmas from the Asian fusion takeout joint City Taste. We weren't quite as hungry as we thought which is great since it fed us for lunch today. Dragon City is definitely underrated and I think pretty close to Mandarin on quality and even better than Golden House. The only disadvantage here compared to its neighborhood competitors is that they do not have a plant-based meat menu.

Open as of November 2020. Accepts cash and credit card. Also does delivery too. We ordered takeout / delivery here and wanted to give this place a try. We ordered from their combination platter menu: Triple Delight. It comes with your choice of chicken fried rice or pork fried rice. It comes with an egg roll as well. The portion size was enough for 1 person. The sauce was not too salty and good ratio between proteins and veggies. The egg roll was not too greasy. We also ordered their Singapore rice noodles. The noodles they use are a bit thinner than what you see in other carry outs. I think this is a good thing. The noodles have a nice pull to them. It normally comes with curry powder and spicy. If you don't like spice, you can request no spicy. Food is decent especially when you need a quick bite. Can't say much about customer service since this was a delivery order. Otherwise, definitely check them out.

Stopped by hungry after a long day of work. With ten minutes before closing, they made fresh food for me and the family. We ordered a hefty amount and everything was delicious, from the soup, to the hot egg rolls, ribs and everything else. I got in right after I ordered and they were very kind and rushed the food so I wouldn't have to wait too long. It says a lot about a business when it's in the family and everyone is working hard down to the last minute to feed the community in times of Covid. To the owners- thank you again, it was delicious. I hope you are prosperous for the new year.

Beef Chow Fun

We ordered via Uber Eats and we enjoyed our food! We ordered wonton soup, chicken rice soup, steak cheese egg rolls and beef chow fun. Everything was tasty and they were very generous with beef in the beef chow fun! Steak cheese egg rolls are good, but they use more beef and cheese filling, not sure why they added vegetables. Great value and we'll definitely ordered from them again!

Place has been around since I was a kid. Now I'm a college student near Takoma Park and they still serve the best Chinese food around. Friendly, fast and welcoming personnel, they bought my food right up to me not long after placing my order. Definitely gonna continue to support the place as long as it's around.

WATCH OUT FOR WORMS!!! This disgusting place it's on my way home so I decided to try it out because I did not have plenty time to go somewhere else. BAD DECISION!! I got home and started eating. When I was about to eat another piece of broccoli. Surprise!! This one came with a worm included. They obviously don't clean their vegetables!!!

Piss in a bowl AKA tea/lemonade

First off let me say this . Delivery took an hour for them to be up the street from me. The delivery guy was hesitant to give me my change back , then was asking for a tip ( like can I geet my change back first then decide on the tip ?) I ordered the shrimp with garlic sauce and white rice . Only came with like 5 shrimp and the rest was veggies . Given the sauce was really good . Now here's why I would give them NO STARS if there was an option . . I took a bite of food and swallowed and almost choked on a metal like piece . Pulled it from my mouth and it's a piece from like a metal dish scrubber !! How nasty and dangerous really! Now they not picking up their phone lol . Oh yeah they gave me my tea/lemonade in a soup tub. It looks like a bowl of Piss actually.

Actual staple in my food...

Chopped up gyro meat does not belong in egg rolls. Dirty floor in waiting area, although the kitchen looks clean. Barely one star.

I had high hopes since the menu includes intestines and other items that clearly are not meant for white customers. I am very happy to have a very tasty Chinese restaurant close to me. Dry pork noodles: These were the best IMO. Nice and spicy, with great flavors all around. I suggest getting the pork chop (add on) since there is not a lot of meat that comes with the dish normally. Beef noodle soup: Tasted very authentic and had a great broth. Thin slices of beef reminded me of real Chinese noodle soups. Spicy dry chicken noodles; Very similar to the pork noodles. What I really enjoy is that these are actually spicy dishes! I never had to add chili sauce!! Pork and chive dumplings: These were solid. The sesame dipping sauce is fine, but a mixture of Chinese vinegar (you rarely find this!) and chili sauce are good compliments. Cucumbers: These were more garlic-y then what I had in China, but are still good. Adding a little Chinese vinegar to them really takes them up a notch.

The noodles had an excellent texture, and the broth was rich, robust, and incredibly comforting. I'll definitely be coming back, and I'll be recommending this place to anyone who asks for a great spot to eat.

None of us were from this area, and we intended to go to the Mayflower Chinese Restaurant, based on Yelp reviews. However, once we walked in the door, it was apparent this place was focused on carryout, and there was no way we were staying to eat in their dingy entrance area. We walked next door to the Meleket Ethiopian restaurant. However, the place was deserted, and we didn't stay there either. We tried the Lime & Cilantro, the next place down, but it was packed and couldn't handle our group. So, we skipped past the verernary clinic and went to Spring Garden. And, what a great choice that was. They offer a huge menu of Chinese, Thai, and Japanese meals. Everything is reasonably priced. Once we got our food, we were impressed with the quality and portion sizes. And, through it all, the service was prompt and friendly. I ordered Hot and Sour soup (my bellwether for Chinese restaurants) and beef chow fun. The soup was flavorful without being overpowering, and the chow fun was delicious too. I liked everything so much that I ordered another soup and Thai Basil with Chicken to go, and that's been my lunch for the past couple of days. Don't be put off by the seediness of its location. Spring Garden is a great place to grab some tasty, reasonably priced food, either to eat in or take away.
