I'm hesitant to write this review because I kind of like that it's a hidden gem, but... I also like to share the good. China Jade is SO yummy! We dined in and had tea offered to us. I remember getting tea at Chinese restaurants when I was a kid, so this brought me back. Scanning the menu, I saw that there was a tofu dish on the house specials section. This never happens, so I decided to try the Ni Ding's Crispy Tofu. It was incredible. What was presented to me matched the description on the menu entirely. It was soft, silken tofu on the inside, with a crisp outside. And the sauce was tasty. It's marked as spicy, but it's not. We asked for additional spice and were brought a red chili paste that added a great heat. Service was great, too. I highly recommend the dine in experience here. read more

The service was fantastic! The food was great! The restaurant isn't anything fancy and I wouldn't suggest using the bathrooms but I look forward to eating here again. The orange chicken was a great portion where if I didn't set out to finish it all in one sitting, could've been enough for a meal and left over snack. The no ding tofu was spectacular. The flavor was unique and that it was fried silken tofu instead of typical extra firm tofu was a great decision by the restaurant. The flaw in both was that they were supposed to be spicy. Next time, I will say to them "make it spicy, and when you think it's spicy, make it even more spicy." Great flavor but needed more heat. A stand out vegetarian dish is always aces with my family and the meat dish was just what I wanted. I would NOT recommend getting the tofu TO GO. Got the beef egg sauce over rice and pork chop over rice at China Jade and it was delicious. It's not on the menu and has to be requested with the owner. It's probably the best beef egg sauce in Moco compared to the other canto places. Beef portion was generous and sauce was flavor. 4 decently sized salt n pepper pork chops were given also over rice. Before my wife introduced me to China Jade Rockville, I wasn't a fan of any Chinese cuisine. Now I'm a regular and order from China Jade every week. The food is delicious and high quality -- breaded meat is all meat, not like other places cutting corners with just hollow breading. Prices are great for the big portions. The dishes are always promptly brought out hot and steaming, no unnecessary wait times. Just how it should be. The atmosphere is welcoming and family friendly. My kids like coming here to watch football on the TV. The manager (Maggie?) and waitresses are all super nice and accommodating. Refilling my drinks, bringing away empty dishes, checking in how I'm doing... I don't speak Chinese so that's when my wife comes in to translate to avoid misunderstandings with ordering the wrong dish. They always try to make things right to make the customer happy. I always try to leave a generous tip. COVID had been hard enough on restaurants, we as customers shouldn't make their day even harder. Rockville has a lot of Chinese restaurants, but I think China Jade definitely stands out as one of the best! read more

What happens when you move and haven't eaten home-cooked Chinese food in close to two months? You order a lot so you'll be eating it for days! Although I've seen my mom since moving, I go early in the day so I'm not there for dinner. Ooops! Facebook/Yelp friend had a recent post about China Jade and that reminded me that it's around the corner from me and delivers! Ordered the House Special Gui Fei Chicken cause although I can make the ginger and scallion sauce, it's nice to have chicken with it! I ordered the 1/2 chicken portion and didn't make a dent into the dish. The ginger and scallion sauce is great and the portion that comes with the 1/2 chicken is a good amount. Then, in typical Joanna fashion, I picked one of the smelliest dishes on the menu - Salted Fish and Chicken with Eggplant Casserole! Cause I haven't had my mom's Hom Yu Yuk Beng in ages, and I've got cravings! BBQ Roast Pork - I haven't had any since the folks that had the Hong Kong BBQ stall that was at New York Mart in Rockville left. This appetizer was stir fried with scallions. Not the same as what I was craving but still good. I'm a sucker for crab rangoon. I could make it, but too lazy. The appetizer from China Jade is a great portion. Large wonton wrappers with a good balance of cheese and imitation crab. I'll be popping these into my air fryer to crisp them back up over the weekend. When it comes to Chinese food, I'm super picky. I grew up in Chinese restaurants and I really don't like going out for Chinese food. So, my thoughts on China Jade: For a Szechuan restaurant, their Cantonese dishes are tasty. I'll order again cause the food was good, they're super nice on the phone, although they quote 45 minutes for delivery they got to me in 20 and... Delivery driver was cute ringing my video doorbell and telling me my Chinese food was here in a sing-song way! Price point and variety of their menu is great too. Note: someone on Facebook pointed out to me that China Jade was a Cantonese restaurant that got sold to a Szechuan restaurant that hired an additional chef. This is my experience ordering from China Jade in ROCKVILLE/DERWOOD next to the Giant and thrift store a couple of years ago, Yelp moderator! (Was removed for some shady reason, saying I didn't review the right location. SMH) Please read to the end: First, let me say we usually order "authentic" Chinese, but we were in the mood for "American" Chinese food when we ordered here. We will never order from here again. At first, we were disappointed because the PuPu platter came with only one of each item listed: one spare rib, one spring roll, one chicken stick, one steak stick and one crab Rangoon. If I'd had known what was in store for me, I'd have laughed at myself for being upset about the miserly portion. *I was not happy that the orange chicken tasted like it had been coated in gobs of flour but never fried, and then topped with sauce. The mu shu chicken was not good--flavorless. The Chinese broccoli was just ok, but more watery and overcooked than we like. The worst is that last night this food caused me some of the worst gastric pain in my life, where I'd thrown up twice (haven't thrown up in YEARS) and made about 10 trips to the toilet, which is not an exaggeration. I paid for an overpriced meal only to have caused me harm. I feel like it's a double whammy. Quality of the food matters most to me and they have remain on par with pre-Covid standards. Delicious, good portions, well cooked and seasoned. Well worth the drive from Virginia! My friends and I were craving authentic Chinese food and heard that Rockville was the place to go and this place did not disappoint! From the moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us warmly with genuine smiles, and the service was very efficient. The food arrived quickly and exceeded our expectations. A standout dish was the 水煮鱼 but everything was definitely chefs kiss ! The atmosphere is casual and felt like home- which made our dining experience even more enjoyable. I eat here at least every couple of weeks. The lunch specials are a great deal with lots of variety. In addition to regular American Chinese food, they have a huge authentic menu. I recommend one of the Schezuan lunch specials that come with soup and rice. The service is always very quick and my food is ready for pick up 10 minutes. Eating in here is also nice. It's an open atmosphere with tables for big groups. You also get free tea when you dine in. read more

We've been coming here for years now. We only ordered take out during Covid but still order this way. Sorry, I forgot to take pics, we inhaled our food too quickly. Their food is pretty consistent, although their prices have increased. That said, the portions are generous, so you'll have multiple meals as leftovers. Our favorites are their egg rolls, pork pan fried dumplings, crab rangoon, wonton and egg drop soups, General Tsao Chicken (with white meat only $1 extra), Lemon Chicken (basically breaded chicken breast because the lemon sauce is not great) but chicken itself if pretty good. Pork Belly with Chili Sauce (very tasty but in the softer side) sometimes I will throw it in the air fryer to make it crispy, but that's my preference. Mongolian style beef, chicken and pork were good. Triple Delight meal, with shrimp, chicken, etc. was good and generous portion too. I gave it a 4 because the price could be a little lower for a mostly take out establishment. read more

Had a very good dinner here Saturday night. Arrived a lil late for dinner about 7:30 and the place wasn't too busy. We got seated and service was very good. The food we order came out rather quickly and that was great considering we had somewhere to go after dinner. We ordered 3 dishes including walnut shrimp, eggplant dish and a dish with pig intestines and everything was very tasty. I had been here a while back with my kid and it was good then. Experiencing it again with the great service and tasty food makes me think I shouldn't wait so long till the next time I come here. A lil off the beaten path but def worth the drive. We were shopping for furniture and asked the salespeople for a good Asian Restaurant nearby and they suggested China Jade and suggested Mommas Special Dumplings - I've never had dumplings that I recall but now they're my favorite. Most people order to meals to go here. We ate there on our first visit and some guy was sitting slopping his soup down loudly coughing 2021 Covid days lol yikes. The staff work hard and the lady helped us with the menu. I think it's a family run business. Pretty solid Cantonese food here at China Jade. They seem to have a pretty wide menu selection, which also includes Szechuan food. I didn't really look over it too much since I let my dad order. We ordered: House Special Gui Fei Chicken: This is a pretty simple dish, but still very good and popular. It is a whole (or half) steamed chicken served cold with scallion and ginger dipping sauce. Because of how they cook it, the chicken is very smooth and tender. The cold, slimy skin of the chicken may not be appetizing for everyone, but give it a try! Note that this is not a boneless chicken dish! Half a chicken is about $10. Seafood, Meat, and Tofu Combo Casserole: It is a mix of scallops, shrimp, squid, roasted pork, chicken, and tofu puffs with veggies in a metal pot. It was a good, filling dish. It came overflowing with sauce. This dish would be more flavorful with a tad of sesame oil added to it. Fresh Garlic and Bullfrog Casserole: In Cantonese, bullfrog translates as field chicken. I thought it tasted more like fish since it was so soft and flaky. It's a pretty tasty dish. Don't worry about seeing whole bullfrogs staring back at you. They cut it into small pieces. Chicken and Salted Fish Fried Rice: Pretty standard fried rice. It can be a little salty for some people because of the salted fish. Instead of the usual peas and carrots, they used chopped lettuce in the fried rice, which I do not mind at all. As is most fried rice dishes, it's a little oily. Salted Double Fried Pork: It is deep fried pork chop. It is okay. Not a bad dish to order. If you sit at one of the big tables, there is a lazy Susan, but it doesn't make you feel lazy since the turntable needs to be oiled. You end up working out your arms to spin the thing if you want food. At the end of the meal, they give you sliced oranges and fortune cookies. Even though they serve Cantonese food, the server and the manager spoke Mandarin Chinese. The place was pretty empty on a Wednesday night. They also did not have any lobsters available. read more
