A long-time staple in Clarksburg. The food and service deteriorated a couple of years ago and we stopped going. However, we recently tried them again and were pleasantly surprised. We decided to order from a new place instead of traveling like we normally do back down to Germantown. Such a mistake!! I knew when I ordered the food it was going to be a problem. They allowed a person with a language barrier to answer the phone and I had to keep repeating myself several times but she knew how to ask how much I wanted to tip her driver before he even arrived. smh We ordered beef & broccoli (horrible) the meat was gross. Chicken fried rice...the rice box was so packed it came out in clumps and wouldn't separate. Chicken & shrimp lo mein...not one noodle was long. It's like they chopped them up for a kid. You couldn't swirl not one piece around on your fork & lastly the shrimp egg rolls...that's the only thing that was good. I really didnt like the fact that I asked for plenty duck sauce & soy sauce for 3 orders and they sent 4 soy sauces & 2 duck sauces. It's safe to say I will not be returning. Really delicious and cheap goods Chinese food. Small place with a couple tables if you wantttt to sit. Most people take it to go. I got egg drop soup which was really yummy and just how I like it. My family loves this place and I thought I give it a shot. I didn't want to order the typical sesame or orange chicken so I opt for the sweat and sour chicken and this joint was fire. They're portion size are huge, you could save the leftovers for dinner or a 2nd lunch. I'd recommend you go during the lunch special because it's like $6 ($7 after taxes). Decent local Chinese Take Out place. In all honesty, this is not our goto spot for take out in Clarksburg, but my daughter loves the beef on a stick here, which the other take out Chinese place doesn't offer. The restaurant itself is definitely more geared toward take out. There are a few basic tables if you choose to sit in, but it doesn't offer any kind of ambiance. The kitchen is open style, behind the counter, so you can see everything going on. Prices are reasonable, food is decent. The pork fried rice was good and not too greasy. The beef on a stick has a flavorful glaze and is tender. Take out is ready in about 15 minutes and I've never had an incorrect order. read more

Stopped at this nice convenient restaurant and had the Beef Ho Fun. It was devious! If you like Drunken Noodle, this is the Chinese equivalent. Make sure you get it extra spicy :) Price was moderate, and serving size was good. Highly recommend. Will visit again. read more

We have tried China Spring a handful of times over 3 years. We hoped the issues we had were just the specific dish(es) we got. But, we always ordered different dishes and all have had the same issue. They are all bland, zero flavor, with an odd greasy sauce of some sort. I am not sure how you achieve removing all beef and chicken flavor from actual beef and chicken, but they achieve it consistently. The only menu item that even comes close to "good" is the chicken fried rice. But it is still rather bland and we still had to add salt/soy sauce. We will just give up and find another spot. read more

Been in the neighborhood for years and frequently got the takeout lunch specials which are excellent for the amount and freshness of food, speed of service and price. If you order in person the order gets done within 5-10 minutes in my experience and that way you get your food as hot and fresh as can be. The egg roll included is wrapped separately and is crispy and light with a delicate crunch. The entree is served on a generous bed of either fried rice or steamed white rice. I've never been disappointed with the entree portions which for one person is plenty and on occasion I save half for later which is like a bonus meal for late night. All tied up in a to go bag with condiments and a plastic fork. The owners are hardworking and very nice. If you are in the Clarksburg area it's a fine little place to get your fill of takeout Chinese. read more

Went here Sunday for a quick lunch but never actually ate anything. Believe me it is a crime in my book so sit back as I explain... We got a flyer in the mail about a week ago for a new Chinese joint in clarksburg. Great! We lack places to eat here anyways. After looking at their menu we saw they had sushi and so off we went. They have a lunch special too so even better. 8 bucks for 2 rolls with miso soup and a salad. When we got there the layout was like any other typical Chinese carryout. You had the counter and the kitchen and like 3 tables for you to sit at. Not fancy but I don't judge...I'm here for the food. We were greeted by an employee who was busy sorting papers behind the register. He said hi and continued what he was doing. So far Im still good. We started ordering our food and the guy quickly denied us. Now this is where the shitake hits the fan. "We don't have lunch specials on Sunday" and back he goes to his papers. Ummmmm ok. We saw where the lunch special for the Chinese food stated that it was only Mon - Fri but where did it say that for the rolls? I know...it was written in NOWHERE LAND. Oh and let's mention how they had the time and effort to print more menus with a price increase for the lunch special rolls to now 9 bucks but left the little blurb about no lunch specials on Sunday. Needless to say we left. Let's get one thing straight...we didn't leave because we couldn't get the lunch special since we didn't even try to dispute it with the guy. I work upstairs at the Clarksburg Medical Center and I have always ordered through their lunch special menu items. The best things to order are the triple delicacy and the sesame chicken! They come out to be $6.63 - $6.65 total which is a very good price. They also throw in a free spring roll! (maybe 2-3lbs of food for 6.63) Really worth the money spent! I love how they stopped the sushi (it was pretty good too). You're going there for chinese food and chinese food is what you get! This is legit authentic chinese ffood that satisfies the stomach in every possible way. Ignore all the other reviews! Last week I called to place an order (i live 4miles from their location) and was told " that is too far, we will deliver if you spend $25" (by the way I spoke to a male) so i said fine and spent $25. Today I call and a woman answers and tells me I have to spend $35 or more for them to deliver!!!! Are you kidding me! Its 4miles NOT 15!!! So i brought to her attention they delivered last week and she goes "i dont think we delivered for $25" Way to run a business... they need to get their ish together when dealing with patrons who order frequently(i tend to pickup but since i did receive delivery last week... why not again). China Spring is a pretty good restaurant for just a carry out. Their food is always served hot and fresh. The white sauces are light and I like the fact that no matter what dish you choose, the food isn't swimming in sauce. I do find that the cleanliness of the restaurant cooking & food prep areas needs some improvement. Regarding the Lunch Menu: I don't like the fact that when you order a lunch portion that they load an incredible amount of rice on both sides of the styrafoam container where the rice goes & the side of the container where the main dish normally goes. This is done to make it look like you're getting a lot of food but there is very little of the main dish. It turns out to be about 80% rice and 20% main dish (See photo). I love the fact that they're open late nights and many dishes for lunch start at $7.95 which I feel is too much for this little carryout hole in the wall which is not even a sit-down restaurant. The prices on their dinner menu have also gone up to $10.95 and up for chicken dishes which is again I feel is too pricey for this type of location. read more

Ever since Red Bowl opened in Clarksburg Village we haven't been back. So many examples of terrible food here. They definitely overkill on broccoli, sauces are not very well done in pretty much any dish. Service: I only go here for takeout...as I'm sure is the case for many people. I'm not sure why this place got so many negative reviews...I have been treated with respect every time I have taken food home from here and I see no evidence of any foulplay or rudeness. I will say some of the staff faces a slight language barrier, but this is easily compensated by friendliness. Food: I normally order lo mein and orange chicken (i know...typical "americanized" order) and can't complain. The chicken is nice and crispy and the rice is fresh and soft. Lo mein is a bit oily, but I'm not looking for the cleanest diet when I come to a carry out chinese place. Environment: The space is very small with a total of eight seats. This is definitely not a place meant for people to dine in at. Although the two benched tables are normally open in case anyone wants to try. I got Beef Sticks (huge and very flavorful), Pan fried Dumplings (skin not super thick but the meat is well seasoned), pork fried rice (decent amount of meat and definitely up there as some of the best), and orange chicken (sauce is amazing but the chicken wasn't that crispy). Only complaint is that I wish the chicken were crispier. I love China spring. It's my favorite Chinese take out I have had in a long time. Everyone is super nice and I have yet to be disappointed in their food. I get the steamed shrimp and green beans or the shrimp fried rice and my husband gets sweet and sour chicken or general tsos and we love it. We just moved away and we still make special trips to get it because nothing where we moved compares at all. This is the most racist Chinese store I ever been too. I was profiled(I am a black Muslim woman) soon as I came into the store. There had been a mistake with my order(I literally waited 20 mins after being very hungry for hours) and I told the cashier that it was not what I ordered. He then got very aggressive with me while I calmly explained that I think it was a misunderstanding with the order. I was trying to ask him questions and he got very angry, whilst talking to the other working about me saying "now this isn't what she ordered".. I told him I did not want anything anymore because of how awful he was acting. This place is definitely made for takeout because even though they have some tables, it is not really welcoming to people. Being the only ones in the restaurant, my dad and I were never asked what we thought or how it was. The food was okay. The edamame was good but it's hard to mess that up. The boneless ribs were average but had a little weird after taste but were still the best things we ordered. The egg and spring rolls sit in their fridge to be fried but they tasted good. The "crab and cheese puff" felt like they took cream cheese, added sugar and put it in a pastry. Highly do not recommend that. And then there's the fried rice. They give large portions but it is very greasy and crunchy. The only positives of this whole experience is that it was quick and the food was hot.
