We went on a busy Saturday night and were pleasantly surprised that we were seated right away. They have a nice little parking lot as well, which made everything super convenient. Our waitress was lovely and very attentive throughout the meal, and the service was impressively fast. The food came out almost immediately. Everything we tried was delicious. The chili oil handmade noodles and the signature pork soup dumplings were definite standouts and absolutely worth ordering. The firecracker salmon spring rolls were a little different than the typical spring rolls we're used to seeing, thinner and more delicate, but still incredibly flavorful and delicious. I am so glad my fellow Yelp Elite friend, Joy B., recommended Peter Chang Gaithersburg recently. I haven't been in the area for awhile and I was hoping to find a better place than China Gardens for me and my mom to get dimsum from. This place was absolutely perfect for the said occasion! They have a flat AYCE price for all the delicious dimsum, small plates, and other items like desert listed on the menu. I loved everything I got to try out. The spicy eggplants were melt in the mouth tender and had a nice flavor of spiciness and savoriness. Same with the dan dan noodles. The classic har gow, lotus leaf wrapped sticky rice, the pork buns were also delicious. And the white chocolate walnut buns that Joy told me about?! Give me 2 dozens of those please!!! What a way to celebrate the first day of the new year! We enjoyed the A.Y.C. E. Menu at Peter Changs. The food was delicious! We started off with the Mongolian beef with scallions. The meat was tender and the sauce was flavorful. Then, we had some egg drop and sweet and sour soup. Both were tasty. My dining companions had the spicy dried fish and they really liked it. Next, we ordered the shrimp low mein and the egg and scallion fried rice. Both were enjoyable. Yes, we kept ordering... the popcorn chicken was fabulous. After that we ordered the Peking Duck. That was not on the AYCE menu. The Peking Duck was a show stopper. Elegantly plated, tender duck with crispy skin, served with cucumber and scallion matchsticks,pancakes, and a tasty plum sauce for dipping. It was excellent! Obsessed and in love for just $30 you can have an unlimited brunch with the most quality food items ever. The Mongolian beef , the shumai, popcorn chicken , salt and pepper shrimp even the pot of tea was delicious. They really ate with the $28 all you can eat! Be warned that it's only for two hours though and if you're a slow eater like me those two hours go by quick! I will say we got to try quite a bit of the menu and left feeling stuffed. I've had better Chinese food which is why I wasn't amazingly impressed but I would for sure go again if I needed to pick a quick lunch spot with a friend. I finally went here after passing it for years. I've actually been twice now. I've had their dumplings, combination lo mein, and house basil chicken. The dumplings were delicious on both occasions. The basil chicken was flavorful, but the lomein was very bland. They did not include any sauce in the to go bag (you have to request it). Therefore, I had to eat dry lo mein. The customer service was lovely. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. I look forward to eating in on my next visit. There are many menu items that I would like to try. I've been back a fee times since my last review. They have hired more staff and have introduced an AYCE lunch menu M-F from 11 am to 2 pm. It's great for trying a little bit of everything if you're not sure what you like. But because everything is so good, you fill up quick. What can I say about Peter Chang's that hasn't already been said? They are awesome and one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the area. I have a go to takeout order from here, but honestly everything on the menu is phenomenal. Occasionally there can be some inconsistent dishes, but it's only happened a few times for me. I personally love the Ginger & Scallion Steamed Branzino, one of my absolute favorites. Their chow fun is also really good, with wide noodles that stand out compared to the other Chinese restaurants I've had it at. You have to, at minimum, get the egg scallion fried rice, spicy fried bamboo fish, spicy cumin lamb, spicy dry fried eggplant, and the mixed mushroom with tofu. I know that's a lot, but they are all super delicious. I probably order from here at least once a month. Inside, the restaurant isn't huge, but it's a decent size and has a couple big tables to accommodate larger parties. All in all, this place has earned a permanent spot in my rotation. A fun take on all you can eat dim sum. I have never seen another restaurant do Chinese tapas and I love the concept since my party was able to try a wide variety of dishes without feeling overly full. The all you can eat option is only available during brunch hours and costs $28 per person. They also offer $6 mimosas during this time. Service was not the fastest and dishes came out as they were ready rather than all together. Soy sauce, chili oil, and vinegar were also not readily provided. *Hot Tea: we had a choice of jasmine or puer, served in a pot for the table. Not bad for $4, and our pot came with two tea bags. *Mimosa: only available with orange juice. The champagne flute was quite small and thin, and the pour was light, so I would not order this again. *Spicy Mouth Watering Chicken With Peanut: our least favorite dish. It is a cold chicken dish with a marinade that was surprisingly mild and lacking flavor. The chicken was overly chewy and leaned heavily toward breast meat. *Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken: could have been served hotter, but the batter was not greasy. The chicken was tender and the flavor leaned toward a simple Thai basil profile. *Osmanthus Honey Pork Rib: not very meaty but still tender. The marinade was quite sweet and reminiscent of char siu seasoning. I did not dislike it, but the flavor was a bit too strong for me to order again. *Salt And Pepper Shrimp: interestingly made with baby shrimp instead of standard size. The larger surface area picked up a lot of salt and pepper. Not offensive, though I prefer the natural flavor from shell on shrimp. *Hot Sour Soup With Tofu And Egg: one of the best versions I have tried. It had an intense spice and umami flavor with a great mix of tofu, mushrooms, and roots. *Egg Scallion Fried Rice: surprisingly the biggest hit. Fragrant scallion flavor ran through fluffy rice and egg. It was not overly oily, and we could have eaten multiple bowls on its own. *Stir Fried Shrimp Lo Mein: not my favorite version since it was quite oily. The baby shrimp felt like an insignificant protein, and the noodles were not pleasantly chewy. *Steamed Shrimp And Pork Shumai: the ratio leaned heavily toward shrimp. I wished there was more pork, as the shrimp was relatively under seasoned. The skin was nicely thin, and the dumplings were generously filled. *Chili Oil Pork And Shrimp Wonton: the dumpling skin was too thick, and the sauce was bland. It tasted more like savory sesame oil with very little spice or vinegar. *Steamed Pork Rib With Pumpkin: arrived lukewarm. The ribs were still tender and savory, and the pumpkin was naturally sweet, though I wish it had been hotter and softer. *Cantonese Style Chicken Feet: delicious with soft, gelatinous texture. The marinade was savory with a subtle sweetness that complemented the skin without overpowering it. *Signature Pork Soup Dumpling: filled with rich, fatty broth. The pork was tender and slightly sweet. The dumpling skin could have been thinner, but the texture was still enjoyable. These clearly tasted freshly made. *Vegan Chili Oil Hand Pulled Noodle: the chili oil was mild again, but the noodles were excellent. When your water cup is slightly under full, it is topped off. Second, the food. Food came out fresh and hot. Noodle dishes have great chew to the noodles. Shu mai and dumpling dishes are flavorful. Came again for their $28 AYCE lunch deal and overall its a good bargain and why I gave 4 stars. However, the food is a different story. Most of the non dim-sum were very good, popcorn chicken, pork belly, bamboo fish, pork ribs, dry fried eggplant, and farmer's stir fry. The dim sum was pretty mediocre however; not better than most of the Cantonese places in MoCo. The skin on most of the dumplings and wontons was too thick and took away from the taste of the filling. The main standout to me was the pork shrimp tofu rolls; more meaty filling than standard Canto dish. Throughout the years, I've seen the Peter Chang empire really cater more towards the American palette which is very disappointing. Sure, it increases his brand and probably bottom line, but for true Asians we can easily see right through this. The true test is always how many Asians are filling up the dining room, and its quickly declining. I'll still search for the mom/pop places b/c the tastes are more authentic. For a Sichuan restaurant to barely have dishes that actually have a kick, that's disappointing. Very few mala dishes which is what he made is name on. read more

Came here on a President's day holiday and had their AYCE $28 menu. We made sure that they had the AYCE dim sum menu and they did. This is uncommon since most AYCE places love the money grab and get rid of any of their specials menus on holidays and weekends. But they had it. We ordered most of their menu and i didn't have any bad dishes. Almost everything was pretty good. Of highlight was the farmer's stirfry and the tofu wrapped fillings, fried eggplant and all of their lomein and fried rices are good. Their spicy fried crispy chicken is probably the better of all the chicken dishes. Service was really good. The server was attentive and kept on coming back to take the order. He did miss a couple but made up for it by coming back with the correction. I love the $26 all you can eat dim sum and tapas (90 min limit). Every dish was delicious! I also appreciate that kids under 5 are free. Depending on how many people are at the table, the number of dimsum that comes matches the number of people. For example, if you have 1 person at the table vs 4 people at the table and you order the soup dumpling, they will serve either 1 or 4 soup dumplings. The pork soup dumplings was one of my favorites. However it can be a hit or miss with how much soup is in there. The first time I ordered it was cooked to perfection and had a ton of soup in the soup dumpling. The other times I ordered, the soup dumpling was dried up without soup. The shrimp in the crystal shrimp dumpling and steamed shrimp and pork shumai was nice and soft. I expected some items to be spicy but it was not. For example the vegan spicy Dan Dan noodles and chili oil pork and shrimp wonton were very mild spice. I didn't fine hot chili oil mapo tofu to be spicy either. Very mild spicy and more salty than spicy. But it would taste delicious with rice. However on the positive side, kids can eat those too since they were not that spicy. The corn egg drop soup didn't have that much corn, but the corn that was in there was nice and sweet. The duck bone soup was delicious with Napa cabbage and vermicelli noodles and seasoned with white pepper. All their meats were cooked so well and soft that the kids could eat them. One do my favorites was the honey pork rib with the sweet flavor and pretty presentation. The Taiwanese popcorn chicken was fried perfectly and soft authentic. The salt and pepper shrimp was a bit salty and oily but nice and crispy. Mama's braised pork belly looked so beautiful. The hunan twice cooked pork belly was cooked with spicy peppers and was a spicy dish I wasn't expecting, but delicious. The sweet sour flounder was fried tossed in a sweet sour sauce. The spicy dry fried bamboo fish was nicely seasoned, but doesn't have bamboo in case you get confused by the name. I also like how you can select different types of gravy for the braised noodle with gravy. For dessert they only had 2 options: pumpkin red bean paste mochi and glutinous rice cake with brown sugar. The rice cake was so crispy and you dip it in the brown sugar syrup like French toast but became too sweet if I ate more than half the strip. My kids and I loved the pumpkin red bean paste mochi fried to perfection and perfect sweetness. This is a beautiful restaurant with 2 restrooms and also high chairs for kids. There's a parking lot outside, but space is limited when the restaurant is super busy that you may need to park in a separate parking lot. Came in right when they opened. Service was great as we were the only people there. I will say after a while it did get pretty crowded for a Monday morning so lots of people seem to love it. Parking was not bad but by the time we left there was not an open parking spot and the restaurant was not even full. I still think parking isn't too hard though. We decided to do the all you can eat menu and it was delicious. I definitely got my dim sum fix. The soup dumplings were delicious and filled with soup. They did not fall apart like some soup dumplings so I was able to enjoy the broth. The crystal dumpling was my favorite and the wrapper wasn't too chewy. The portions were small, giving only 2 of each item which is probably to reduce waste. I think it was great and the ambiance was relaxing but still lively for a Monday. After three visits, it's clear that this restaurant is deserving of my highest rating. Some details follow: Food (5) - For example Chef's special branzino was delicious, filling, and dramatically presented on a flame tray to keep the entire serving warm. See photo. Service (5): Constantly full water glass, tea refills, extra tableware, rapid delivery of dishes----nothing to complain about. We felt taken care of. Ambiance (4): It's a busy Chinese restaurant. Some tables are close to each other thus preventing discussion of any personal or sensitive topics. On the other hand, friendly comments on neighbor table dishes was enjoyable given the variety of dishes observed. "What is that?" "How's it taste?" "Wow - I want to get that next time!" One of my favorite restaurants recently closed, so I've been on the hunt for a good replacement. I had driven past Peter Chang for a few months and finally decided to give it a try, and I think I may have found my new go-to spot. The restaurant has nice décor, and the tables are well spaced so you're not sitting right on top of other diners. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the food came out surprisingly fast. One dish you absolutely have to try is the handmade noodles with hot chili oil. The noodles are ridiculously chewy, fresh, and packed with texture. The first bite instantly told me these were the real deal. If you enjoy handmade noodles, this dish alone is worth the visit. We also ordered the duck, bok choy with dried tofu, and a scallop and shrimp dish. Everything we tried was flavorful and well prepared. This feels like one of those places where you could easily work your way through the entire menu. I also learned they offer daily bottomless dim sum, which I'm definitely planning to come back and try. Free parking is available. Love it!! I think this location is better in Gaithersburg!! Friendly staff. We were a party of three with no reservations. We ordered from the dinner menu and the tapas menu. You will find the Mongolian beef on the tapas menu. Note: they appear to charge for soft drink refills so be sure to ask. My daughter had a lemonade refill and I noted the charge. The food was tasty all around. The sauce that came with the spring rolls I believe is a cross sweet n sour with peanut sauce. I think I can do without it. That is the only food "pause" I had. Our server, Tian, might be new but he did ok. All the food came out except the Popcorn Chicken dish. He didn't realize what we were telling him until my husband pointed to his empty plate and said his food was missing. Then he came back to make sure he had the order right. This just became one of my favorite Chinese restaurants ever. Everything that I've had here is delicious, with grandma's braised pork belly being a standout for me so far. It's flavorful, sweet, and just the perfect fatty thing to order (make sure to get a side of rice). Also huge fan of the chili oil pork wonton which is not overtly spicy but has a little kick. The Peking duck was delicious as well, being tender and tasty. Anytime I go to Costco, I have to stop myself from coming here for food. There is less options if you're looking for "traditional dim sum " dishes but they had a variety of entree style dishes in mezze portions. They have a decent sized parking lot. It is location right adjacent to Costco. Service was great and it was bright and open inside. Peter Chang Gaithersburg is currently offering a limited time AYCE dim sum and tapas brunch from Mon-Fri 11-3pm for $26/person and $6 mimosa or house beer. Our favorites were the crystal shrimp dumpling, Chili Oil Pork Wontons, Spicy Dry Fried Bamboo Fish, Oyster sauce tofu skin roll and Green Beans w. Pickled Cabbage. The barbecue pork bao were undercooked, and honey pork rib were overcooked, but most of the other things were decent. We thought it was a good price especially for the quality. Our server was attentive however there was a minor hiccups (second day of launching the limited time AYCE). They gave us two dishes we didn't order, and our server didn't put in 2-3 dishes so we had to notify our server when they didn't come. There are two private bathrooms and they were clean. LOTS OF EGG SHELL IN FRIED RICE AND VERY SMALL PORTIONS Ordered almost $52 worth of food last night. I thought it was a good deal for the amount I ordered. But then the order got here and the portions were extremely small. Both orders of "egg scallion fried rice" contained large pieces of egg shell and made it very unpleasant to eat. This all said the food was pretty good (besides the portions and eggshell) I would like to try going Inperson to get the $28 all you can eat. I highly recommend the " minced garlic cucumber salad " and the " spicy dry fried bamboo fish " Update- ate the rest of the fried rice today (half of one of the containers) and I found 4 more separate pieces of eggshell read more

Wow. This place is so so good. Comfy booths are perfect for four people, which is about right for enjoying the amazing duck! Some of the most delicious duck, delicate wraps, plum sauce like it's supposed to be, and loads of gorgeous glistening skin. The dishes are small and we had the bok choy with tofu skin, the ma po tofu, and more to round out the feast. The soup dumplings are so filled with the delicious abd delicate broth; it was two spoonfuls of broth! Very nice tea, super attentive waitstaff. Place was packed, so I'd get a reservation. Tldr: good food, wish the portions were slightly bigger for the price, would come back to try their dim sum / tapas We went on a weekday as a group of four and shared three dishes: 1) eggplant, 2) black pepper braised beef, and 3) combination fried rice. Everything was really well seasoned and delicious and I think all four of us left decently full. The server was v nice and recommended a bunch of menu to us when asked. Overall, clean and delicious Chinese food but I do wish the portions were slightly bigger or the price slightly cheaper. I'll start by saying I'm a Peter Chang fan. I've dined at multiple locations and this is probably the one that I wouldn't go back to. The service was generally good, but robotic. Fine. I don't need a big personality, just be efficient at what you're doing. The food was ok. In concept, it's much like the other locations. However, I was a bit turned off that they refused to make the dishes extra spicy ("crazy spicy" as noted at their other locations). One of the reasons we love his food is for the spice. Also, I know they have the tapas offering at many locations. In general, its the same food offered, but at a significant markup (ex. 1/4 the size of a traditional dish with only modest reduction in price). read more

The new menu is a good departure from their old menu when they were located at the rockville town center, With often changing items, you will always have something new to pick from. I highly recommend the soup dumplings and salt and pepper chicken. The quality of the food here is great, but service is lacking, often having to sit for 10-29 before anyone even comes to your table. The place looks great and has a great atmosphere, and I am glad they moved closer to the germantown area. read more
