Another win for Fuji Japan! We ended the last day of summer ordering sushi, chicken & steak over rice and vegetables. Perfect seasonal way to end our last summer lunch. The food is always fresh, lightly salted with traditional Japanese methods. A local favorite, bon appétit read more

Recently went to Fuji Japan since most restaurants in the area were closed and my parents and I were craving some type of Asian cuisine. Food is average, but decent given the price. It's a casual restaurant so when ordering you go up to the counter and pay for your food. If you decide to dine-in they'll serve you. Service is fairly quick though so no complaints about that. I had tried their boba which was not the best but not the worst. I don't think I would get it again in comparison to actually boba stores. It's definitely not tea based but I'm just glad it wasn't overly sweet. The tapioca tasted pretty good though! I recommend their miso soup but their salad and tempura you can skip out on. read more

Delicious, fresh sushi and friendly service! Only reason it's a four star review instead of five is 1) the lack of Tamari or other gluten free soy sauce, 2) the use of plastic ware even though we were eating in the restaurant, 3) the cold (we never took off our coats) and 4) the insipid music. If these four things are addressed, Fuji would be a Five star!! read more

I stopped by to grab a friend some lunch and then decided to get food for myself. My experience was phenomenal. I was greeted and my order was taken in a timely manner. I was able to see my food get cooked. Nothing was frozen and the food was fresh. I ordered the chicken hibachi with fried rice. I didn't get a chance to take a photo of my friends food but I got the steak hibachi with noodles. They included yum yum sauce with the orders, which I was not expecting. Most places don't include it and charge extra so I was very happy. This is the best hibachi I've had in a long time. I've shared this place with friends and family; it's a must try! The restaurant was clean and plenty of free parking. read more

I was craving hibachi and did not want to sit in a restaurant so decided to try Fuji Japan after one researching. I am glad I tried it, it was very good. I ordered the chicken and steak hibachi with fried rice and vegetables. It came with yum yum sauce. The chicken was delicious and the steak was pretty good as well, it was just a bit dry. I ordered online and picked it up, i had no issues with the service, it was ready within 15-20 minutes. The restaurant is clean and easy to find, literally in the layhill shopping center. Very convenient if you're craving hibachi and don't want to experience sitting at the restaurant were they cook it in front of you. Oh and the steak and cheese spring rolls were pretty good as well! Will definitely return! read more

This place is not as great as it used to be from our last visit over 2 years ago. The chicken teriyaki bento box for $11.95 was large with plenty of items in it, but the chicken was hard and stringy. We also had the Alaska Roll sushi (with salmon, avocado, and cucumber) for $7.25, which only had 6 small pieces. This is pretty expensive and not worth ordering. You get more pieces of sushi at Giant or Harris Teeter! read more

For me, Fuji Japan isn't quite authentic Japanese restaurant. it's kinda fast food in Japanese version. Mostly, their menu have Sushi and Hibachi. (No Ramen/Udon noodle or Donburi/Curry rice bowl) I never have Sushi yet, so I can't say anything about that but I can say they have many choices of Sushi for you. I only had Bento box and Hibachi here. I think they all were good one as standard. They might not really perfect but it is enough to enjoy the food. As for ambient and service are okay. There are some dining-in seats but decorative inside is not really feel like Japanese atmosphere. Anyway, overall it is still a good place to get some taste of Japanese food if you aren't overthinking of details. read more

This was a pleasant surprise, cause some places make their rice too dry or too mushy... and like little bear, it was just right. Sorry, I've been reading Goldilocks and the Three Bears to my daughter and I've been comparing everything with her with a middle ground mentality. One complaint was that the sushi was falling apart and not wrapped as tight but the taste was still pretty good... overall... I'll definitely be coming back again. read more

My husband and I ordered carry out. Unfortunately, our dissatification prompted me to write this review. I will start with a positive in that the food servings are large. The fried oysters were pretty tasty but the breading was very thick. Our dissatisfaction was because the chicken, rice and noodles seemed to have been recycled from an earlier cook, hopefully not from yesterday. Some pieces of the chicken were very hard and inedible. My husband's steak was overcooked. He asked for medium but it was well done. This is our first time trying this restaurant but we will not return. read more

The sushi was fresh and good size portions with plenty of options. Well there's not a lot of seating, most people just order and take out I think my wife and I have been there about five times and I've tried at least one new role each time. Always tasty. :-) We did try the hibachi once. As this is not their specialty, I would suggest you look elsewhere if that's what you're looking for. read more

I've ordered delivery from Fuji Japan on a couple of occasions and thought everything was delicious. For both orders, I went with the 3 roll lunch combo where one can choose three rolls for about $18. The combo is great because there is a huge selection (about 15) of various rolls. The food arrived to my apartment within 45 minutes of ordering through Grubhub. Although the 3 roll lunch combo is my main go-to option, I wish the restaurant offered a non-roll sushi lunch special. read more

SO happy this place opened up near where I live (literally 5 minutes away). The food was cooked pretty quickly so I didn't have to wait long, and the ingredients were very fresh! We got the spicy tuna roll, salmon skin roll, and California roll. I LOVE how there's not a lot of rice and a lot of filling. Rolled so tight and perfectly. The hibachi scallops were sooo good. I got it with the fried rice and an extra side of hibachi noodles. Definitely making this a regular place to visit! read more

I've ate it every Japanese/Chinese restaurant round these parts, I might have missed a few in the nooks and crannies. But hands-down Fuji Japan has the best quality steak, best quality food, and super polite service, they even have a piano playing in the background if you dine in. Don't sleep on this place. The vibe is unmatched for this level of dining. read more

I'm not sure what the other reviews meant about the being the best. I came here after seeing recommendations through our neighborhood listSERV. I ordered the Hibachi chicken & Shrimp lunch with extra chicken and veggies (was not given extra of either) and the spring rolls. Chicken wasn't consistent and didn't taste fresh. The fried rice was sweet as it they put sugar in it. The veggies were good, unfortunately the shrimp was not cleaned, some don't mind but $25 for lunch is way too much for that. Portion size is the only plus! Spring rolle are tiny and taste frozen (see pics) read more

I think this is my new spot after I play golf at Northwest Golf Course up the street. I ordered online and it was easy. After you spend $25 or after $65 you can choose a free item from the list they provide. The service and sushi is great. Can't wait to try the other items on the menu! read more

Literally the best Hibachi in the area. Most places make the rice kind of mushy and the veggies are blah, but everything was cooked to perfection. The rice was delicious, the veggies top tier status, and the steak and shrimp phenomenal. I mean outside of Masa Hibachi Benihana & Kabuto , "just to name a few", this is the first place I've ordered from that gives you grade A steak and shrimp. Everything I ordered was phenomenal and worth every last penny. read more

Love this place and their sushi lunch roll specials. Relatively large rolls with a good rice to fish ratio (very little rice, lots of fish). Very fresh salmon. My go-to are the yellowtail avocado, salmon avocado, and spicy salmon crunchy rolls. All the spicy fish rolls come with tempura crunch. I like that you can get yellowtail and avocado rolls here, many places only offer it with cucumber or scallions. Plus this place has awesome groupons. They unfortunately charge you $1 to order online and no longer give you free eggrolls for exceeding a certain amount online. But still with groupons and even their normal lunch special price, it's great! I'd say probably not worth it at dinner and their bento boxes here aren't that great. But the rolls are definitely worth it at lunch time!!! We are now regulars. read more

The staff were warm and kind. The speaker at the kiosk helped to hear what staff said on top of the cooking sound in the background. The classic milk bubble tea had an interesting lid to prevent spilling. The chicken teriyaki was tasty with many vegetables. The fried rice was slightly salty, so maybe should have ordered the white rice. read more

It's not consistent... sometimes the sushi is up to snuff other times it's tasteless ... fried rice is just rice and soy sauce

Got the rainbow roll and it was super fresh! Great customer service. Definitely coming back here. :)

There are no sushi restaurants near here, so I was happy to try it. The food is adequate, nothing special. They use cheap soy sauce and ultra thick ginger but... Two warnings: 1. If you pickup your order,, they charge you an additional $1.00 "convenience" charge. I guess it is really hard to put the order into bags. MORE IMPORTANTLY 2. DO NOT PUT THE TIP ON A CREDIT CARD! If you do, the management keeps it!!! The cashier told me. If you want to tip the person who actually does the work, bring cash and put it in the jar marked "SUSHI", not the obvious tip jar next to the cash register. Staff doesn't get that either. Bottom Line: for mediocre sushi offered by a restaurant that keeps the server's and sushi chef's tips, this is your place! Drive a few miles further to Ninja Sushi on New Hampshire Ave for great sushi. read more

I saw this place on Groupon and came here last Sunday with my fiancé and best friend after we ran errands. To drink, we had Mango and Green Tea Bubble Teas which were large and yummy. For our appetizers we had Steak Cheese Spring Rolls and Miso Soup. The Steak Cheese Spring Rolls were unique and the Miso Soup was large and excellent. The sushi was delicious, not the very best we've had, but really good. We got both the Diamond Roll and Christmas Rolls. Our main entrees were all Salmon Hibachi which was yummy and reasonably priced. The highlight was the Banana Tempura for desert which comes at an unbelievably low price. The Groupon saved us a bit but the tip for their good service (at the counter for orders) came up at around the original total of 118 which is high but fancier hibachi places would be 150-200 for the food we ordered. Not sure if we'll be back unless they offer a better deal given the distance from Downtown Silver Spring, but for those in the area I'd suggest giving this place a try. read more

Food quality better than chain hibachi restaurants in the area, the shrip are large not small. It is $8 for 2 scallops when added to any hibachi dinner just fyi. That's all great customer service. read more

This restaurant opened recently and we decided to give it a try. We did not have high expectations considering it's in a strip center, but we were very impressed! The restaurant has a small dining area - 6 tables - but they do a bustling carry-out business. The two vegetarian sushi rolls I ordered were both very good and the bento box the man ordered was rated excellent by him. We will happily order from Fuji Japan again! read more

FINALLY there is serviceable hibachi in town! Fiji Japan keeps it simple and it works. The store is small but very clean with a warm ambiance. The food is great and cooked front of house. Hibachi is great, simple soy sauce based as it should be. The white sauce is good, not too sweet. Big portions unlike the other guys. Now the sushi, we got simple rolls as my wife is pregnant but I had a chance to sit and watch the sushi chefs prep. Two men, very attentive to there task. Clean station and fresh fish. I'll come back and try something more complex later. The spicy tuna was had a complexity to it that you don't find often with good heat. On a personal note my wife and I haven't been able to find good hibachi in the area since we moved here from NC 6 years ago. Usually it's over priced, slimy, teriyaki wanna be garbage. I'm glad to have a yummy shop right in our back yard. Give it a try! read more

Their sushi is excellent but check your order on pickup if you order online. Twice now, I have gotten the wrong roll. Yesterday, I ordered a Victory roll, which has salmon and lots of mango. Instead, I got a Paradise roll, which has a lot of eel. I don't like eel. It was especially disappointing because it was my birthday dinner. read more

This place is honestly the best hibachi I have ever had. The food is FRESH, delicious, fast, and a great portion. You get your money's worth. The crab ragoons are PHENOMENAL - the best I have ever had (the filling is on the sweeter side which I love and the sauce you can tell is made from scratch). My dad got the spicy tuna roll as well and said it was very yummy. I have already been here twice in the last two weeks and I will continue to go back here. 10/10 recommend this place! read more

Awesome sushi location. If you're ordering vegetable rolls ensure they are cooked; otherwise all is well. Welcome to our neighborhood

My favorite is the shrimp tempura roll & their wasabi is nice. They have lunch specials that are pretty good deals.

I love their crab rangoon. I haven't tried their hibachi but it looks every time I see them cooking on the grill

Mediocre. The bento box was enough for two meals, and although blandly seasoned, was ok. The sushi rolls were small. Be aware that there is a delivery charge PLUS a "convenience" charge, besides tax and tip, so my $38 meal ended up being $58. read more
